याज्ञवल्क्य उवाच तत्त्वानां सर्गसंख्या च कालसंख्या तथैव च मया प्रोक्तानुपूर्व्येण संहारमपि मे शृणु

Yājñavalkya said: The number of the creation of the principles, and the number of time, have been told by me in due order. Now listen to the dissolution also from me.

याज्ञवल्क्य ने कहा: सिद्धांतों की रचना की संख्या और समय की संख्या, मैंने उचित क्रम में बताई है। अब विच्छेद भी मुझसे सुनो।

यथा संहरते जन्तून्ससर्ज च पुनः पुनः अनादिनिधनो ब्रह्मा नित्यश्चाक्षर एव च

Just as he withdraws beings and creates them again and again, Brahmā is without beginning or end, eternal, and imperishable.

जिस प्रकार वह प्राणियों को हटाता है और उन्हें बार-बार बनाता है, ब्रह्मा आदि या अंत से रहित, शाश्वत और अविनाशी है।

अहःक्षयमथो बुद्ध्वा निशि स्वप्नमनास्तथा चोदयामास भगवानव्यक्तोऽहंकृतं नरम्

Knowing the end of the day, and being without thought in the night, The Blessed One, the Unmanifest One, urged the person who had made the ego.

दिन का अंत जानकर और रात्रि में बिना सोचे-समझे भगवान ने, अव्यक्त ने, उस व्यक्ति से आग्रह किया जिसने अहंकार बनाया था।

ततः शतसहस्रांशुरव्यक्तेनाभिचोदितः कृत्वा द्वादशधात्मानमादित्यो ज्वलदग्निवत्

Then, impelled by the Unmanifest, he divided himself into a hundred thousand parts, and, like a blazing fire, the Sun divided himself into twelve parts.

फिर, अव्यक्त से प्रेरित होकर, उसने अपने आप को एक लाख भागों में विभाजित कर लिया, और, धधकती आग की तरह, सूर्य ने खुद को बारह भागों में विभाजित कर दिया।

चतुर्विधं प्रजाजालं निर्दहत्याशु तेजसा जराय्वण्डस्वेदजातमुद्भिज्जं च नराधिप

It quickly burns up the four kinds of living beings with its radiance, O Lord of Men, the born from wombs, eggs, moisture, and plants.

हे मानव देव, गर्भ, अंडे, नमी और पौधों से जन्मे, यह अपनी चमक से चार प्रकार के जीवित प्राणियों को तुरंत जला देता है।

एतदुन्मेषमात्रेण विनष्टं स्थाणुजङ्गमम् कूर्मपृष्ठसमा भूमिर्भवत्यथ समन्ततः

By this mere opening of the eyes, the immobile and mobile world is destroyed. Then the earth becomes level everywhere, like the back of a tortoise.

इस नेत्र के खुलने मात्र से स्थावर और चलायमान संसार नष्ट हो जाता है। तब पृथ्वी कछुए की पीठ की भाँति सर्वत्र समतल हो जाती है।

जगद्दग्ध्वामितबलः केवलं जगतीं ततः अम्भसा बलिना क्षिप्रमापूर्यत समन्ततः

Having burned the world, the one of immeasurable strength, then filled the earth with water, quickly and completely.

संसार को जलाकर, अथाह शक्ति वाले, फिर पृथ्वी को शीघ्रता से और पूरी तरह से पानी से भर दिया।

ततः कालाग्निमासाद्य तदम्भो याति संक्षयम् विनष्टेऽम्भसि राजेन्द्र जाज्वलीत्यनलो महान्

Then, having reached the fire of time, that water is destroyed. When the water is destroyed, O King, a great fire blazes.

फिर काल की अग्नि में पहुंचकर वह जल नष्ट हो जाता है। हे राजन, जब जल नष्ट हो जाता है तो महान अग्नि प्रज्वलित हो उठती है।

तमप्रमेयोऽतिबलं ज्वलमानं विभावसुम् ऊष्माणं सर्वभूतानां सप्तार्चिषमथाञ्जसा

The sun, the immeasurable, the very powerful, the blazing, the radiant, the scorching, the seven-rayed, the one who burns all beings, the one who is difficult to approach,

सूर्य, अथाह, अत्यंत शक्तिशाली, प्रज्वलित, दीप्तिमान, झुलसा देने वाला, सात किरणों वाला, सभी प्राणियों को जलाने वाला, जिसके पास जाना कठिन है,

भक्षयामास बलवान्वायुरष्टात्मको बली विचरन्नमितप्राणस्तिर्यगूर्ध्वमधस्तथा

The strong wind, consisting of eight parts, ate it. Moving in a downward, upward, and horizontal direction, with a bent breath.

आठ भागों से मिलकर बनी तेज़ हवा ने उसे खा लिया। झुकी हुई सांस के साथ नीचे, ऊपर और क्षैतिज दिशा में आगे बढ़ना।

तमप्रतिबलं भीममाकाशं ग्रसतेऽऽत्मना आकाशमप्यतिनदन्मनो ग्रसति चारिकम्

He swallows the sky, which is unable to resist him, with his own self. He swallows the mind, which is the abode of the sky, with a great roar.

वह आकाश को निगल जाता है, जो उसका विरोध करने में असमर्थ है। वह मन को, जो आकाश का निवास है, बड़ी गर्जना के साथ निगल जाता है।

मनो ग्रसति सर्वात्मा सोऽहंकारः प्रजापतिः अहंकारं महानात्मा भूतभव्यभविष्यवित्

The mind is the universal self, and that is the ego, the lord of creatures. The great self is the ego, the knower of the past, present and future.

मन सार्वभौमिक आत्मा है, और वह अहंकार है, जो प्राणियों का स्वामी है। महान आत्मा अहंकार है, जो भूत, वर्तमान और भविष्य का ज्ञाता है।

तमप्यनुपमात्मानं विश्वं शंभुः प्रजापतिः अणिमा लघिमा प्राप्तिरीशानो ज्योतिरव्ययः

He has hands and feet everywhere, eyes, heads and faces everywhere. He has ears everywhere in the world. He stands pervading everything.

उसके हर जगह हाथ और पैर हैं, हर जगह आंखें, सिर और चेहरे हैं। दुनिया में हर जगह उसके कान हैं। वह हर चीज़ में व्याप्त है।

हृदयं सर्वभूतानां पर्वणोऽङ्गुष्ठमात्रकः अनुग्रसत्यनन्तं हि महात्मा विश्वमीश्वरः

The heart of all beings, the size of a thumb, is the Pervader. The great lord, the Infinite One, swallows the universe.

सभी प्राणियों का हृदय, अंगूठे के आकार का, सर्वव्यापी है। महान स्वामी, अनंत एक, ब्रह्मांड को निगल जाता है।

ततः समभवत्सर्वमक्षयाव्ययमव्रणम् भूतभव्यमनुष्याणां स्रष्टारमनघं तथा

Then all that was imperishable, undecaying, and unhurt, The creator of beings, past, present, and future, and the sinless one,

फिर वह सब अविनाशी, अविनाशी और अक्षुण्ण था, भूत, वर्तमान और भविष्य के प्राणियों का निर्माता और पापरहित,

एषोऽप्ययस्ते राजेन्द्र यथावत्परिभाषितः अध्यात्ममधिभूतं च अधिदैवं च श्रूयताम्
