युधिष्ठिर उवाच तिष्ठते मे सदा तात कौतूहलमिदं हृदि तदहं श्रोतुमिच्छामि त्वत्तः कुरुपितामह

Yudhiṣṭhira said: O father, this curiosity has always been in my heart. I wish to hear it from you, O grandfather of the Kurus.

युधिष्ठिर ने कहा: हे पितामह, यह जिज्ञासा सदैव मेरे हृदय में रही है। हे कौरवों के पितामह, मैं आपसे यह सुनना चाहता हूं।

कथं देवर्षिरुशना सदा काव्यो महामतिः असुराणां प्रियकरः सुराणामप्रिये रतः

How did the divine sage Ushanas, the great-minded Kavyas, Become a favorite of the demons and delight in the displeasure of the gods?

दिव्य ऋषि उशनस, महान मन वाले काव्य, राक्षसों के पसंदीदा कैसे बन गए और देवताओं की नाराजगी से प्रसन्न हुए?

वर्धयामास तेजश्च किमर्थममितौजसाम् नित्यं वैरनिबद्धाश्च दानवाः सुरसत्तमैः

How did he increase the energy of those of immeasurable energy? The demons were always bound by enmity with the best of the gods.

उन्होंने अथाह ऊर्जा वालों की ऊर्जा कैसे बढ़ाई? राक्षस सदैव सर्वश्रेष्ठ देवताओं से शत्रुता से बंधे रहते थे।

कथं चाप्युशना प्राप शुक्रत्वममरद्युतिः ऋद्धिं च स कथं प्राप्तः सर्वमेतद्ब्रवीहि मे

And how did Ushanas attain the lustre of the immortals? And how did he attain prosperity? Tell me all this.

और उशनस को अमरों की चमक कैसे प्राप्त हुई? और उसे समृद्धि कैसे प्राप्त हुई? ये सब मुझे बताओ.

न याति च स तेजस्वी मध्येन नभसः कथम् एतदिच्छामि विज्ञातुं निखिलेन पितामह

How is it that the radiant one does not go through the middle of the sky? I wish to know this completely, O Grandfather.

ऐसा कैसे है कि दीप्तिमान आकाश के मध्य से नहीं जाता? हे दादाजी, मैं यह बात पूरी तरह जानना चाहता हूं।

भीष्म उवाच शृणु राजन्नवहितः सर्वमेतद्यथातथम् यथामति यथा चैतच्छ्रुतपूर्वं मयानघ

Bhishma said: O king, listen attentively to all this as it really is, as far as my understanding goes and as I have heard it before, O sinless one.

भीष्म ने कहा: हे राजन, यह सब जैसा है वैसा ही ध्यान से सुनो, जहां तक ​​मेरी समझ है और जैसा कि मैंने इसे पहले भी सुना है, हे निष्पाप।

एष भार्गवदायादो मुनिः सत्यो दृढव्रतः असुराणां प्रियकरो निमित्ते करुणात्मके

This is the son of Bhārgava, a sage, truthful, firm in vows, the doer of what is dear to the demons, in the cause of compassion.

यह भार्गव का पुत्र, ऋषि, सत्यवादी, प्रतिज्ञा में दृढ़, राक्षसों को प्रिय कार्य करने वाला, दया का कारण है।

इन्द्रोऽथ धनदो राजा यक्षरक्षोधिपः स च प्रभविष्णुश्च कोशस्य जगतश्च तथा प्रभुः

Indra, the king of wealth, the lord of the yakshas and rakshasas, the powerful lord of the treasury and the world,

इंद्र, धन का राजा, यक्षों और राक्षसों का स्वामी, खजाने और दुनिया का शक्तिशाली स्वामी,

तस्यात्मानमथाविश्य योगसिद्धो महामुनिः रुद्ध्वा धनपतिं देवं योगेन हृतवान्वसु

Having entered into his body, the great sage who had attained yoga, having blocked the god of wealth, took away his wealth through yoga.

उनके शरीर में प्रवेश करके, योग प्राप्त महान ऋषि ने, धन के देवता को अवरुद्ध करके, योग के माध्यम से उनका धन छीन लिया।

हृते धने ततः शर्म न लेभे धनदस्तथा आपन्नमन्युः संविग्नः सोऽभ्यगात्सुरसत्तमम्

Then the bestower of wealth, his wealth having been taken away, did not find peace. Afflicted with grief, he went to the best of the gods.

तब धन देने वाले को, उसका धन छीन जाने पर, शांति नहीं मिली। दुःख से पीड़ित होकर वह श्रेष्ठ देवताओं के पास गया।

निवेदयामास तदा शिवायामिततेजसे देवश्रेष्ठाय रुद्राय सौम्याय बहुरूपिणे

He then offered it to Shiva, of immeasurable splendor, to the best of gods, to Rudra, the gentle one of many forms.

फिर उन्होंने इसे अथाह वैभव वाले, देवताओं में सर्वश्रेष्ठ, अनेक रूपों में सौम्य रुद्र, शिव को अर्पित किया।

कुबेर उवाच योगात्मकेनोशनसा रुद्ध्वा मम हृतं वसु योगेनात्मगतिं कृत्वा निःसृतश्च महातपाः

Kubera said: Oshanā, who is of the nature of Yoga, has stopped me and taken away my wealth. Having attained the state of the Self through Yoga, he has emerged as a great ascetic.

कुबेर ने कहा: योग स्वभाव वाले ओशना ने मुझे रोक लिया है और मेरा धन छीन लिया है। योग के माध्यम से आत्मा की स्थिति प्राप्त करके वह एक महान तपस्वी के रूप में उभरे हैं।

भीष्म उवाच एतच्छ्रुत्वा ततः क्रुद्धो महायोगी महेश्वरः संरक्तनयनो राजञ्शूलमादाय तस्थिवान्

Bhishma said: Hearing this, the great yogi, the great lord, became angry. His eyes reddened, O king, and he stood there, taking up his trident.

भीष्म ने कहा: यह सुनकर, महान योगी, महान भगवान क्रोधित हो गए। हे राजा, उसकी आंखें लाल हो गईं और वह अपना त्रिशूल लेकर वहीं खड़ा हो गया।

क्वास्वौ क्वासाविति प्राह गृहीत्वा परमायुधम् उशना दूरतस्तस्य बभौ ज्ञात्वा चिकीर्षितम्

Having taken up the supreme weapon, he said, "Where are you? Where are you?" Ushanas, knowing his intention, appeared from afar.

सर्वोच्च हथियार उठाकर उन्होंने कहा, "तुम कहाँ हो? तुम कहाँ हो?" उसका अभिप्राय जानकर उशनस दूर से ही प्रकट हो गया।

स महायोगिनो बुद्ध्वा तं रोषं वै महात्मनः गतिमागमनं वेत्ति स्थानं वेत्ति ततः प्रभुः

Knowing that great anger of the great-souled one, the great yogi knows his departure and arrival, and the lord knows his abode.

महात्मा के उस महान क्रोध को जानकर, महान योगी उनके प्रस्थान और आगमन को जानता है, और भगवान उनके निवास को जानते हैं।

संचिन्त्योग्रेण तपसा महात्मानं महेश्वरम् उशना योगसिद्धात्मा शूलाग्रे प्रत्यदृश्यत

Having meditated on the great-souled Maheśvara with fierce austerities, Uśanā, whose soul was accomplished in yoga, appeared on the tip of the trident.

उग्र तपस्या के साथ महान आत्मा महेश्वर का ध्यान करने के बाद, उशना, जिसकी आत्मा योग में निपुण थी, त्रिशूल की नोक पर प्रकट हुई।

विज्ञातरूपः स तदा तपःसिद्धेन धन्विना ज्ञात्वा शूलं च देवेशः पाणिना समनामयत्

Then the lord of the gods, knowing his form, with the bowstring of his penance, and knowing the trident, placed it in his hand.

तब देवताओं के स्वामी ने उनके रूप को जानकर, उनके तप की प्रत्यंचा से और त्रिशूल को जानकर उनके हाथ में रख दिया।

आनतेनाथ शूलेन पाणिनामिततेजसा पिनाकमिति चोवाच शूलमुग्रायुधः प्रभुः

Then with the lowered trident in his hand, the lord of the fierce weapon, the trident, said to the Pinaka.

तब भयंकर अस्त्र स्वामी, त्रिशूल, ने अपने हाथ में झुका हुआ त्रिशूल लेकर पिनाक से कहा।

पाणिमध्यगतं दृष्ट्वा भार्गवं तमुमापतिः आस्यं विवृत्य ककुदी पाणिं संप्राक्षिपच्छनैः

Seeing him in the palm of his hand, the lord of Uma, the son of Bhrigu, opened his mouth and slowly put his hand into it.

उसे अपने हाथ की हथेली में देखकर भृगु के पुत्र उमा के स्वामी ने अपना मुंह खोला और धीरे से अपना हाथ उसमें डाल दिया।

स तु प्रविष्ट उशना कोष्ठं माहेश्वरं प्रभुः व्यचरच्चापि तत्रासौ महात्मा भृगुनन्दनः

Then the lord Uśanas entered the chamber of Maheśvara. And the great-souled son of Bhṛgu wandered there.

तब भगवान उशनस ने महेश्वर के कक्ष में प्रवेश किया। और भृगु के महाबली पुत्र वहाँ विचरने लगे।

युधिष्ठिर उवाच किमर्थं व्यचरद्राजन्नुशना तस्य धीमतः जठरे देवदेवस्य किं चाकार्षीन्महाद्युतिः

Yudhisthira said: For what reason did the wise Ushanas wander in the belly of that god of gods? What did the greatly radiant one do there?

युधिष्ठिर ने कहा: बुद्धिमान उशनस किस कारण से उन देवताओं के पेट में भटकते रहे? उस परम तेजस्वी ने वहाँ क्या किया?

भीष्म उवाच पुरा सोऽन्तर्जलगतः स्थाणुभूतो महाव्रतः वर्षाणामभवद्राजन्प्रयुतान्यर्बुदानि च

Bhishma said: Formerly, he, having become a pillar, entered the water, and remained there for many years, for many thousands of years, for many hundreds of thousands of years, for many crores of years, for many hundred crores of years, for many thousand crores of years, for many hundred thousand crores of years, for many hundred thousand hundred thousand crores of years, for many hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand crores of years, for many hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand crores of years, for many hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand crores of years, for many hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand crores of years, for many hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand crores of years, for many hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand crores of years, for many hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand hundred thousand

भीष्म ने कहा: पूर्व में, वह स्तंभ बनकर जल में प्रवेश कर गया और कई वर्षों तक, कई हजारों वर्षों तक, कई सैकड़ों हजारों वर्षों तक, कई करोड़ों वर्षों तक, कई सौ करोड़ वर्षों तक, कई हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक, कई सौ हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक, कई सौ हजार सौ हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक, कई सौ हजार सौ हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक, कई सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक, कई सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक वहीं रहा। वर्ष, कई सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक, कई सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक, कई सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक, कई सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार सौ हजार करोड़ वर्षों तक

उदतिष्ठत्तपस्तप्त्वा दुश्चरं स महाह्रदात् ततो देवातिदेवस्तं ब्रह्मा समुपसर्पत

Having performed a difficult penance, he arose from the great lake. Then Brahma, the god of gods, approached him.

कठिन तपस्या करके वह महान् सरोवर से उठे। तब देवों के देव ब्रह्मा उनके पास आये।

तपोवृद्धिमपृच्छच्च कुशलं चैनमव्ययम् तपः सुचीर्णमिति च प्रोवाच वृषभध्वजः

He asked about the increase of his austerities and his welfare, and the undecaying one. The bull-bannered one said, "Your austerities are well-practiced."

उन्होंने अपनी तपस्या की वृद्धि तथा अपने कल्याण तथा अक्षय के विषय में पूछा। बैल-बैनर वाले ने कहा, "आपकी तपस्या अच्छी तरह से प्रचलित है।"

तत्संयोगेन वृद्धिं चाप्यपश्यत्स तु शंकरः महामतिरचिन्त्यात्मा सत्यधर्मरतः सदा

Then, seeing the increase due to that union, that Śaṅkara, of great intellect, of inconceivable nature, always devoted to true dharma,

तब, उस मिलन के कारण वृद्धि देखकर, महान बुद्धि वाले, अकल्पनीय स्वभाव वाले, हमेशा सच्चे धर्म के प्रति समर्पित, वह शंकर,

स तेनाढ्यो महायोगी तपसा च धनेन च व्यराजत महाराज त्रिषु लोकेषु वीर्यवान्

He, the great yogi, became rich through his austerities and wealth. He shone, O great king, in the three worlds, the valorous one.

वह, महान योगी, अपनी तपस्या और धन से धनवान बन गये। हे महान राजा, वह तीनों लोकों में चमका, वह शूरवीर।

ततः पिनाकी योगात्मा ध्यानयोगं समाविशत् उशना तु समुद्विग्नो निलिल्ये जठरे ततः

Then the Pināka-bearer, the soul of Yoga, entered into the Yoga of meditation. But Ushanas, being greatly distressed, then hid himself in his belly.

तब पिनाक-धारी, योग की आत्मा, ध्यान के योग में प्रवेश कर गई। परंतु उशनस ने अत्यंत व्यथित होकर फिर स्वयं को अपने पेट में छिपा लिया।

तुष्टाव च महायोगी देवं तत्रस्थ एव च निःसारं काङ्क्षमाणस्तु तेजसा प्रत्यहन्यत

The great yogi praised the Lord even as he stood there, but he was struck down by the Lord's splendor, for he was seeking something that was devoid of essence.

महान योगी ने वहां खड़े होकर भी भगवान की स्तुति की, लेकिन वह भगवान की महिमा से चकित हो गए, क्योंकि वह कुछ ऐसी चीज की तलाश कर रहे थे जो सार से रहित थी।

उशना तु तदोवाच जठरस्थो महामुनिः प्रसादं मे कुरुष्वेति पुनः पुनररिंदम

Then the great sage Uśanas, who was in the womb, said: "O conqueror of enemies, please show me your grace again and again."

तब गर्भ में पल रहे महान ऋषि उशनस ने कहा: "हे शत्रुओं के विजेता, कृपया मुझ पर बार-बार अपनी कृपा दिखाओ।"

तमुवाच महादेवो गच्छ शिश्नेन मोक्षणम् इति स्रोतांसि सर्वाणि रुद्ध्वा त्रिदशपुंगवः

Then the great god said to him, "Go and release yourself with your penis." Thus the best of the gods blocked all the channels,

तब महान देवता ने उससे कहा, "जाओ और अपने लिंग से स्वयं को मुक्त करो।" इस प्रकार सर्वश्रेष्ठ देवताओं ने सभी रास्ते बंद कर दिये,

अपश्यमानः स द्वारं सर्वतःपिहितो मुनिः पर्यक्रामद्दह्यमान इतश्चेतश्च तेजसा

Not seeing the door anywhere, the sage, who was completely shut in, wandered here and there, being burned by the fire.

कहीं भी दरवाज़ा न देखकर पूरी तरह बंद ऋषि आग से जलते हुए इधर-उधर भटकते रहे।

स विनिष्क्रम्य शिश्नेन शुक्रत्वमभिपेदिवान् कार्येण तेन नभसो नागच्छत च मध्यतः

Having come out, he desired to become semen. Because of that act, he did not come from the middle of the sky.

बाहर आकर उसने वीर्यवान बनने की इच्छा की। उस कृत्य के कारण वह मध्य आकाश से नहीं आये।

निष्क्रान्तमथ तं दृष्ट्वा ज्वलन्तमिव तेजसा भवो रोषसमाविष्टः शूलोद्यतकरः स्थितः

Seeing him depart, blazing with energy, Bhavo, filled with anger, stood there with his hand raised, holding a trident.

उसे जाते हुए देखकर, ऊर्जा से जगमगाते हुए, भावो क्रोध से भर गया, अपना हाथ ऊपर उठाकर, त्रिशूल लेकर वहीं खड़ा हो गया।

न्यवारयत तं देवी क्रुद्धं पशुपतिं पतिम् पुत्रत्वमगमद्देव्या वारिते शंकरे च सः

The goddess restrained her angry husband, the Lord of the Beasts. When Śiva was restrained, he became the son of the goddess.

देवी ने अपने क्रोधित पति, जानवरों के भगवान, को रोका। जब शिव को संयमित किया गया, तो वे देवी के पुत्र बन गये।

देव्युवाच हिंसनीयस्त्वया नैष मम पुत्रत्वमागतः न हि देवोदरात्कश्चिन्निःसृतो नाशमर्छति

The Goddess said: He is not to be harmed by you, for he has come to be my son. For no one who has come forth from the womb of a god can be destroyed.

देवी ने कहा: इसे तुमसे कोई नुकसान नहीं होगा, क्योंकि यह मेरा पुत्र बनने आया है। क्योंकि जो कोई परमेश्वर के गर्भ से निकला है, उसका नाश नहीं किया जा सकता।

भीष्म उवाच ततः प्रीतोऽभवद्देव्याः प्रहसंश्चेदमब्रवीत् गच्छत्वेष यथाकाममिति राजन्पुनः पुनः

Bhishma said: Then the god, pleased, smiling, said this: "Go as you please,"" he said again and again, O king.

भीष्म ने कहा: तब भगवान ने प्रसन्न होकर, मुस्कुराते हुए, यह कहा: "आपकी इच्छानुसार जाओ," उन्होंने बार-बार कहा, हे राजा।

ततः प्रणम्य वरदं देवं देवीमुमां तथा उशना प्राप तद्धीमान्गतिमिष्टां महामुनिः

Then, having bowed to the bestower of boons, the god, and to the goddess Uma, the wise great sage Ushanas attained the desired goal.

फिर, वरदान देने वाले भगवान और देवी उमा को प्रणाम करके, बुद्धिमान महर्षि उशनस ने अभीष्ट लक्ष्य प्राप्त किया।

एतत्ते कथितं तात भार्गवस्य महात्मनः चरितं भरतश्रेष्ठ यन्मां त्वं परिपृच्छसि

O best of the Bharata lineage, I have told you this, O son, the story of the great-souled Bhargava, which you asked me.

हे भरतवंशश्रेष्ठ, हे पुत्र, तुमने जो मुझसे पूछा था, वह महान आत्मा वाले भार्गवों की कहानी मैंने तुम्हें बता दी है।
