Vaiśampāyana said: Then princess Draupadī replied to the question that the foremost of the Śibi-s had asked. She glanced gently and let go off the branch. She gathered her silken upper garment and replied,

"O son of a king! I know in my heart that it is not proper for someone like me to address you thus. But there is no other man or woman here who can reply to your question.
"हे राजा के पुत्र! मैं अपने दिल में जानता हूं कि मेरे जैसे किसी व्यक्ति के लिए आपको इस प्रकार संबोधित करना उचित नहीं है। लेकिन यहां कोई अन्य पुरुष या महिला नहीं है जो आपके प्रश्न का उत्तर दे सके।
O fortunate one! I am alone here and must therefore, give my own reply. Listen. I am alone in this forest. Being always devoted to my own dharma, how can I speak to you then?
हे भाग्यवान! मैं यहां अकेला हूं और इसलिए मुझे अपना उत्तर स्वयं देना होगा। सुनना। मैं इस जंगल में अकेला हूँ. फिर मैं सदैव अपने धर्म के प्रति समर्पित रहकर आपसे कैसे बात कर सकता हूँ?
I know that you are the son of Suratha and that men know you by the name of Kotikashya. O Śaibyā! Therefore, I will tell you about my relatives. Listen.
मैं जानता हूं कि आप सुरथ के पुत्र हैं और लोग आपको कोटिकाश्य के नाम से जानते हैं। हे शैब्या! इसलिए, मैं आपको अपने रिश्तेदारों के बारे में बताऊंगा। सुनना।
O Śaibyā! I am the daughter of King Drupada and men know me as Kṛṣṇā. I have chosen five men to be my husbands. You may have heard of them, since they come from Khāṇḍavaprastha.

They are Yudhiṣṭhira, Bhīmā, Arjuna and the two brave sons of Mādrī. The Pārtha-s have left me here and have left in the four directions to hunt.
वे हैं युधिष्ठिर, भीम, अर्जुन और माद्री के दो वीर पुत्र। पार्थवासी मुझे यहीं छोड़कर शिकार के लिये चारों दिशाओं में निकल गये हैं।

मन्ये तु तेषां रथसत्तमानां; कालोऽभितः प्राप्त इहोपयातुम्
The king has gone east, Bhīmasena south, Jayā west and the twins to the north. I think that the time has come for those great charioteers to return.
राजा पूर्व की ओर, भीमसेन दक्षिण की ओर, जया पश्चिम की ओर और जुड़वाँ बच्चे उत्तर की ओर चले गए। मैं समझता हूं कि अब उन महारथियों के लौटने का समय आ गया है।
Depart after they have honoured you. Descend and unyoke your steeds. The great-souled son of Dharma loves guests and will be delighted to see you here."
जब वे तुम्हें सम्मानित करें तब चले जाओ। उतरो और अपने घोड़े खोलो। धर्म के महान आत्मा वाले पुत्र मेहमानों से प्यार करते हैं और आपको यहां देखकर प्रसन्न होंगे।"
Having thus spoken to Śaibyā's son, Drupada's moon-faced daughter thought of the dharma of attending to guests and entered the extensive cottage, made out of leaves.
शैब्या के पुत्र से इस प्रकार कहकर, द्रुपद की चन्द्रमुखी पुत्री ने मेहमानों की सेवा करने के धर्म के बारे में सोचा और पत्तों से बनी विस्तृत कुटिया में प्रवेश किया।
