वैशंपायन उवाच एवमुक्तास्तु ते पार्था यमौ च पुरुषर्षभौ द्रौपद्या कृष्णया सार्धं नमश्चक्रुर्जनार्दनम्

Vaiśampāyana said: On hearing these words, the Pārtha-s and the twins, bulls among men, together with Kṛṣṇā Draupadī, bowed in obeisance before Janārdana.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: इन शब्दों को सुनकर, पार्थ-और जुड़वां, पुरुषों के बीच बैल, कृष्ण द्रौपदी सहित, जनार्दन के सामने झुक गए।

स चैतान्पुरुषव्याघ्र साम्ना परमवल्गुना सान्त्वयामास मानार्हान्मन्यमानो यथाविधि

O tiger among men! He comforted them in the sweetest of tones. Having consoled them, he honoured them in the appropriate fashion, since they were worthy of honour.

हे मनुष्यों में बाघ! उसने सबसे मधुर स्वर में उन्हें सांत्वना दी। उन्हें सान्त्वना देकर उस ने उनका यथोचित आदर किया, क्योंकि वे आदर के योग्य थे।

युधिष्ठिरस्तु कौन्तेयो मार्कण्डेयं महामुनिम् पुनः पप्रच्छ साम्राज्ये भविष्यां जगतो गतिम्

Yudhiṣṭhira Kaunteya then again questioned the great sage Mārkaṇḍeya about the kingdoms that would flourish on this earth.

युधिष्ठिर कौन्तेय ने फिर महान ऋषि मार्कण्डेय से उन राज्यों के बारे में सवाल किया जो इस धरती पर पनपेंगे।

आश्चर्यभूतं भवतः श्रुतं नो वदतां वर मुने भार्गव यद्वृत्तं युगादौ प्रभवाप्ययौ

"O foremost among eloquent ones! O sage! O Bhārgava! We have heard from you about the extraordinary destruction and creation that occurs at the end of a yuga.

"हे वक्ताओं में श्रेष्ठ! हे ऋषि! हे भार्गव! हमने आपसे एक युग के अंत में होने वाले असाधारण विनाश और सृजन के बारे में सुना है।

अस्मिन्कलियुगेऽप्यस्ति पुनः कौतूहलं मम समाकुलेषु धर्मेषु किं नु शेषं भविष्यति

I am extremely curious to learn about what happens in kālī yuga. If all dharma is confounded then, what will remain?

मैं कलियुग में क्या होता है इसके बारे में जानने के लिए बेहद उत्सुक हूं। यदि सारा धर्म नष्ट हो जाए, तो क्या बचेगा?

किंवीर्या मानवास्तत्र किमाहारविहारिणः किमायुषः किंवसना भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

What energy will be left to men? What will they eat and how will they sport? How long will they live? What garments will they wear at the end of a yuga?

पुरुषों के पास कौन सी ऊर्जा बचेगी? वे क्या खाएंगे और कैसे खेलेंगे? वे कब तक जीवित रहेंगे? युग के अंत में वे कौन से वस्त्र पहनेंगे?

कां च काष्ठां समासाद्य पुनः संपत्स्यते कृतम् विस्तरेण मुने ब्रूहि विचित्राणीह भाषसे

After what period of time, will kṛta yuga arise again? O sage! Tell these varied accounts in detail."

किस अवधि के बाद, कृत युग फिर से उत्पन्न होगा? हे ऋषि! इन विविध वृत्तान्तों को विस्तारपूर्वक बताइये।”

इत्युक्तः स मुनिश्रेष्ठः पुनरेवाभ्यभाषत रमयन्वृष्णिशार्दूलं पाण्डवांश्च महामुनिः

At these words, the supreme among sages began to speak again. The great riṣi wished to please the tiger among the Vṛṣṇi-s and the Pāṇḍava-s.

इन शब्दों पर, ऋषियों में सर्वोच्च ने फिर से बोलना शुरू किया। महान ऋषि वृष्णि और पांडवों के बीच बाघ को प्रसन्न करना चाहते थे।

मार्कण्डेय उवाच भविष्यं सर्वलोकस्य वृत्तान्तं भरतर्षभ कलुषं कालमासाद्य कथ्यमानं निबोध मे

Mārkaṇḍeya said: "O bull among the Bhārata lineage! Listen to me. I will tell you about the future of all the worlds when the time of evil arrives.

मार्कण्डेय ने कहा: "हे भरत वंश के बैल! मेरी बात सुनो। बुराई का समय आने पर मैं तुम्हें सभी लोकों के भविष्य के बारे में बताऊंगा।"

कृते चतुष्पात्सकलो निर्व्याजोपाधिवर्जितः वृषः प्रतिष्ठितो धर्मो मनुष्येष्वभवत्पुरा

In the time of kṛta with its four feet, everything was devoid of deceit and obstructions. In those earlier times, dharma was established among humans, like a bull.

अपने चार पैरों वाले कृत के समय में, सब कुछ छल और बाधाओं से रहित था। उस पहले के समय में, बैल की तरह, मनुष्यों के बीच धर्म की स्थापना हुई थी।

अधर्मपादविद्धस्तु त्रिभिरंशैः प्रतिष्ठितः त्रेतायां द्वापरेऽर्धेन व्यामिश्रो धर्म उच्यते

In tretā, adharma took away one leg, but it was still established on three feet. In dvāpara, it is said that dharma and its opposite are mixed half and half.

त्रेता में अधर्म ने एक पैर छीन लिया, फिर भी वह तीन पैरों पर ही स्थापित था। द्वापर में कहा जाता है कि धर्म और उसका विपरीत आधा-आधा मिला हुआ है।

त्रिभिरंशैरधर्मस्तु लोकानाक्रम्य तिष्ठति चतुर्थांशेन धर्मस्तु मनुष्यानुपतिष्ठति

But at that time, three-quarters of adharma will be established in the world. Only one quarter of dharma will be established among men.

परन्तु उस समय संसार में तीन-चौथाई अधर्म स्थापित हो जायेगा। मनुष्यों के बीच केवल एक चौथाई धर्म स्थापित होगा।

आयुर्वीर्यमथो बुद्धिर्बलं तेजश्च पाण्डव मनुष्याणामनुयुगं ह्रसतीति निबोध मे

O Pāṇḍava! Learn from me that life with valour, intelligence, strength and power will shrink among men, following the change in yuga.

हे पाण्डव! मुझसे सीखो कि युग परिवर्तन के बाद मनुष्यों में वीरता, बुद्धि, बल और शक्ति वाला जीवन सिमट जाएगा।

राजानो ब्राह्मणा वैश्याः शूद्राश्चैव युधिष्ठिर व्याजैर्धर्मं चरिष्यन्ति धर्मवैतंसिका नराः

O Yudhiṣṭhira! Kings, brāhmana-s, vaiśya-s and śūdra-s will only pretend to practise dharma. Men will be deceitful about dharma.

हे युधिष्ठिर! राजा, ब्राह्मण, वैश्य और शूद्र केवल धर्म का पालन करने का दिखावा करेंगे। मनुष्य धर्म के विषय में धोखेबाज होंगे।

सत्यं संक्षेप्स्यते लोके नरैः पण्डितमानिभिः सत्यहान्या ततस्तेषामायुरल्पं भविष्यति

Men in the world will be vain about their learning and will abbreviate the truth. Because truth will be destroyed, lifespans will be shortened.

संसार में मनुष्य अपनी शिक्षा के विषय में व्यर्थ होंगे और सत्य को संक्षिप्त कर देंगे। क्योंकि सत्य नष्ट हो जायेगा, आयु कम हो जायेगी।

आयुषः प्रक्षयाद्विद्यां न शक्ष्यन्त्युपशिक्षितुम् विद्याहीनानविज्ञानाल्लोभोऽप्यभिभविष्यति

Because of this shortening in life, it will not be possible to acquire muc learning. Uninstructed and lacking in knowledge, ignorance will make them a prey to greed.

जीवन में इस कमी के कारण अधिक शिक्षा प्राप्त करना संभव नहीं होगा। अशिक्षित और ज्ञान की कमी, अज्ञानता उन्हें लालच का शिकार बना देगी।

लोभक्रोधपरा मूढाः कामसक्ताश्च मानवाः वैरबद्धा भविष्यन्ति परस्परवधेप्सवः

Men will be addicted to avarice, anger and desire, and will be stupid. They will bear enmity and will wish to kill each other.

मनुष्य लोभ, क्रोध और कामना में आसक्त होंगे और मूर्ख होंगे। वे शत्रुता रखेंगे और एक दूसरे को मार डालना चाहेंगे।

ब्राह्मणाः क्षत्रिया वैश्याः संकीर्यन्तः परस्परम् शूद्रतुल्या भविष्यन्ति तपःसत्यविवर्जिताः

Brāhmana-s, kṣatriya-s and vaiśya-s will consort with each other and become the equal of śūdra-s, devoid of austerities and truth.

ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय और वैश्य एक-दूसरे के साथ मिल जाएंगे और तपस्या और सच्चाई से रहित होकर शूद्रों के बराबर हो जाएंगे।

अन्त्या मध्या भविष्यन्ति मध्याश्चान्तावसायिनः ईदृशो भविता लोको युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

There is no doubt that the lowest will rise to the middle and the middle will sink to the bottom. At the end of the yuga, this will be the state of the world.

इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि सबसे निचला भाग मध्य की ओर उठेगा और मध्य नीचे की ओर डूबेगा। युग के अंत में संसार की यही स्थिति होगी।

वस्त्राणां प्रवरा शाणी धान्यानां कोरदूषकाः भार्यामित्राश्च पुरुषा भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

Garments made of hemp will be considered to be the best. Grain eaten by the poor will be considered to be the best harvest. At the destruction of the yuga, men will consider their wives to be their enemies.

भाँग से बने वस्त्र सर्वोत्तम माने जायेंगे। गरीबों द्वारा खाया गया अनाज सर्वोत्तम फसल माना जाएगा। युग के विनाश पर मनुष्य अपनी पत्नियों को अपना शत्रु समझेंगे।

मत्स्यामिषेण जीवन्तो दुहन्तश्चाप्यजैडकम् गोषु नष्टासु पुरुषा भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

They will live on fish and will milk goats and sheep. At the destruction of the yuga, men will destroy cows.

वे मछलियों पर जीवित रहेंगे और बकरियों और भेड़ों का दूध निकालेंगे। युग के विनाश पर मनुष्य गायों को नष्ट कर देंगे।

अन्योन्यं परिमुष्णन्तो हिंसयन्तश्च मानवाः अजपा नास्तिकाः स्तेना भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

Men will be against each other and will commit violence against each other. At the time of the destruction of the yuga, they will not meditate and will be atheists.

पुरुष एक-दूसरे के ख़िलाफ़ होंगे और एक-दूसरे के ख़िलाफ़ हिंसा करेंगे। युग के विनाश के समय वे ध्यान नहीं करेंगे और नास्तिक हो जायेंगे।

सरित्तीरेषु कुद्दालैर्वापयिष्यन्ति चौषधीः ताश्चाप्यल्पफलास्तेषां भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

They will dig up the banks of rivers with spades and sow herbs there. But at the time of the destruction of the yuga, these will yield little fruit.

वे फावड़े से नदियों के किनारों को खोदेंगे और वहाँ जड़ी-बूटियाँ बोएँगे। परन्तु युग के विनाश के समय इनका बहुत कम फल मिलेगा।

श्राद्धे दैवे च पुरुषा ये च नित्यं धृतव्रताः तेऽपि लोभसमायुक्ता भोक्ष्यन्तीह परस्परम्

Men who have always been firm in their vows at funeral ceremonies and sacrifices to the gods, will become addicted to greed and will thrive on each other.

जो पुरुष अंत्येष्टि समारोहों और देवताओं को बलि चढ़ाने की अपनी प्रतिज्ञा में हमेशा दृढ़ रहे हैं, वे लालच के आदी हो जाएंगे और एक-दूसरे पर विश्वास करेंगे।

पिता पुत्रस्य भोक्ता च पितुः पुत्रस्तथैव च अतिक्रान्तानि भोज्यानि भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

The father will enjoy what belongs to the son and the son will enjoy what belongs to the father. At the time of the destruction of the yuga, rules about what should be eaten will be transgressed.

जो बेटे का है, उसका पिता आनंद उठाएगा और जो पिता का है, उसका बेटा आनंद उठाएगा। युग के विनाश के समय क्या खाना चाहिए, इसके नियम का उल्लंघन होगा।

न व्रतानि चरिष्यन्ति ब्राह्मणा वेदनिन्दकाः न यक्ष्यन्ति न होष्यन्ति हेतुवादविलोभिताः

Brāhmana-s will not observe vows and will criticize the Veda-s. Deluded by their love for debate, they will not observe worship and sacrifices.

ब्राह्मण व्रतों का पालन नहीं करेंगे और वेदों की आलोचना करेंगे। वाद-विवाद के प्रेम से मोहित होकर वे पूजा और यज्ञ नहीं करेंगे।

निम्ने कृषिं करिष्यन्ति योक्ष्यन्ति धुरि धेनुकाः एकहायनवत्सांश्च वाहयिष्यन्ति मानवाः

Men will till lowlands and yoke milch cows. Men will employ calves that are one year old as beasts of burden.

पुरुष निचले इलाकों में खेती करेंगे और दुधारू गायें चराएंगे। पुरुष एक वर्ष के बछड़ों को बोझ ढोने वाले जानवर के रूप में काम में लेंगे।

पुत्रः पितृवधं कृत्वा पिता पुत्रवधं तथा निरुद्वेगो बृहद्वादी न निन्दामुपलप्स्यते

Though sons will kill their fathers and fathers will kill their sons, this will not be regarded as reprehensible. They will be without anxiety and will take great pride in this.

हालाँकि बेटे अपने पिता को मार डालेंगे और पिता अपने बेटों को मार डालेंगे, लेकिन इसे निंदनीय नहीं माना जाएगा। वे चिंतामुक्त रहेंगे और इस बात पर बहुत गर्व महसूस करेंगे।

म्लेच्छभूतं जगत्सर्वं निष्क्रियं यज्ञवर्जितम् भविष्यति निरानन्दमनुत्सवमथो तथा

The entire world will be overtaken by mleccha conduct. There will be no rites and sacrifices. There will be unhappiness everywhere and no festivities.

संपूर्ण विश्व म्लेच्छ आचरण से आक्रांत हो जाएगा। कोई संस्कार और बलि नहीं होगी. सर्वत्र अप्रसन्नता होगी और कोई उत्सव नहीं होगा।

प्रायशः कृपणानां हि तथा बन्धुमतामपि विधवानां च वित्तानि हरिष्यन्तीह मानवाः

Generally, men will rob the possessions of others, even of those who are weak and of their relatives and widows.

आम तौर पर, पुरुष दूसरों की संपत्ति लूट लेते हैं, यहां तक ​​कि कमज़ोर लोगों की, अपने रिश्तेदारों और विधवाओं की भी।

अल्पवीर्यबलाः स्तब्धा लोभमोहपरायणाः तत्कथादानसंतुष्टा दुष्टानामपि मानवाः परिग्रहं करिष्यन्ति पापाचारपरिग्रहाः

There will be little valour and strength. There will be vanity. There will be addiction to avarice and delusion. Men will happily accept gifts given by the evil. They will accept them, themselves addicted to evil conduct.

पराक्रम और पराक्रम कम रहेगा। घमंड रहेगा. लोभ और मोह की लत रहेगी. मनुष्य दुष्टों द्वारा दिये गये उपहारों को प्रसन्नतापूर्वक स्वीकार करेंगे। वे स्वयं बुरे आचरण के आदी होकर उन्हें स्वीकार करेंगे।

संघातयन्तः कौन्तेय राजानः पापबुद्धयः परस्परवधोद्युक्ता मूर्खाः पण्डितमानिनः भविष्यन्ति युगस्यान्ते क्षत्रिया लोककण्टकाः

O Kaunteya! Driven by evil intelligence, kings will hire assassins. The ignorant ones, thinking themselves to be wise, will seek to kill each other. When the destruction of the yuga is near, the kṣatriya-s will be the thorns of the world.

हे कौन्तेय! दुष्ट बुद्धि से प्रेरित होकर राजा हत्यारों को भाड़े पर लेंगे। अज्ञानी अपने को बुद्धिमान समझकर एक दूसरे को मारने का प्रयत्न करेंगे। जब युग का विनाश निकट होगा, क्षत्रिय संसार के कांटे होंगे।

अरक्षितारो लुब्धाश्च मानाहंकारदर्पिताः केवलं दण्डरुचयो भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

They will not protect others. They will be greedy, insolent with pride and vanity. At the time of the destruction of the yuga, they will find delight in only resorting to chastisement.

वे दूसरों की रक्षा नहीं करेंगे. वे लोभी, घमण्ड और अहंकार से युक्त होंगे। युग के विनाश के समय उन्हें केवल ताड़ना का सहारा लेने में ही आनंद आएगा।

आक्रम्याक्रम्य साधूनां दारांश्चैव धनानि च भोक्ष्यन्ते निरनुक्रोशा रुदतामपि भारत

They will attack righteous ones and enjoy their wives and possessions. O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! They will feel no pity, even when there are cries of grief.

वे धर्मियों पर आक्रमण करेंगे और उनकी पत्नियों और सम्पत्ति का उपभोग करेंगे। हे भरत वंश के वंशज! दु:ख की चीखें उठने पर भी उन्हें कोई दया नहीं आएगी।

न कन्यां याचते कश्चिन्नापि कन्या प्रदीयते स्वयंग्राहा भविष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

No one will ask for a maiden. No one will give a maiden away. When the end of the yuga is near, women will choose themselves.

कोई कन्या नहीं मांगेगा. कोई एक लड़की भी नहीं देगा. जब युग का अंत निकट होगा, तो महिलाएं स्वयं चयन करेंगी।

राजानश्चाप्यसंतुष्टाः परार्थान्मूढचेतसः सर्वोपायैर्हरिष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

When the end of the yuga has arrived, kings, discontented with what they possess and deluded in their intelligence, will use every means possible to steal the property of others.

जब युग का अंत आ जाएगा, तो राजा, जो उनके पास है उससे असंतुष्ट और अपनी बुद्धि से भ्रमित होकर, दूसरों की संपत्ति चुराने के लिए हर संभव उपाय का उपयोग करेंगे।

म्लेच्छीभूतं जगत्सर्वं भविष्यति च भारत हस्तो हस्तं परिमुषेद्युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

There is no doubt that the entire world will be overtaken by mleccha ways. When the destruction of the yuga has arrived, one hand will steal from the other.

इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि पूरी दुनिया म्लेच्छ तरीकों से आगे निकल जाएगी। जब युग का विनाश आ जायेगा तो एक हाथ दूसरे हाथ से चोरी करेगा।

सत्यं संक्षिप्यते लोके नरैः पण्डितमानिभिः स्थविरा बालमतयो बालाः स्थविरबुद्धयः

In this world, men who are vain about their learning, will abbreviate the truth. The old will think like children and the children will have the intelligence of the old.

इस संसार में, जो लोग अपनी शिक्षा के बारे में व्यर्थ हैं, वे सत्य को संक्षिप्त कर देंगे। बूढ़े बच्चों की तरह सोचेंगे और बच्चों में बूढ़ों जैसी बुद्धि होगी।

भीरवः शूरमानीनः शूरा भीरुविषादिनः न विश्वसन्ति चान्योन्यं युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

Cowards will take pride in their bravery and the brave will be depressed as cowards. When the end of the yuga has arrived, they will not trust others.

कायर लोग अपनी बहादुरी पर गर्व करेंगे और बहादुर कायरों के रूप में उदास रहेंगे। जब युग का अंत आ जाएगा, तो वे दूसरों पर भरोसा नहीं करेंगे।

एकाहार्यं जगत्सर्वं लोभमोहव्यवस्थितम् अधर्मो वर्धति महान्न च धर्मः प्रवर्तते

Overcome by greed and delusion, everyone will eat the same kind of food. Adharma will extend and there will be no dharma.

लोभ और भ्रम से वशीभूत होकर सभी लोग एक ही प्रकार का भोजन करेंगे। अधर्म का विस्तार होगा और कोई धर्म नहीं रहेगा।

ब्राह्मणाः क्षत्रिया वैश्या न शिष्यन्ति जनाधिप एकवर्णस्तदा लोको भविष्यति युगक्षये

O lord of men! There will be no brāhmana-s, kṣatriya-s and vaiśya-s left. At the time of destruction of the yuga, the world will have only one vārṇa.

हे मनुष्यों के स्वामी! कोई ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय और वैश्य नहीं बचेगा। युग के विनाश के समय संसार में केवल एक ही वर्ण होगा।

न क्षंस्यति पिता पुत्रं पुत्रश्च पितरं तथा भार्या च पतिशुश्रूषां न करिष्यति काचन

Fathers will not pardon their sons, nor sons their fathers. Wives will not tend to their husbands.

पिता अपने पुत्रों को, और पुत्र अपने पिता को क्षमा नहीं करेंगे। पत्नियाँ अपने पतियों के प्रति प्रवृत्त नहीं होंगी।

ये यवान्ना जनपदा गोधूमान्नास्तथैव च तान्देशान्संश्रयिष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

When the end of the yuga has arrived, men will seek out cities and regions where barley and wheat are eaten.

जब युग का अंत आ जाएगा, तो लोग उन शहरों और क्षेत्रों की तलाश करेंगे जहां जौ और गेहूं खाया जाता है।

स्वैराहाराश्च पुरुषा योषितश्च विशां पते अन्योन्यं न सहिष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

O lord of the earth! Men and women will eat whatever they wish. When the end of the yuga has arrived, they will not tolerate each other.

हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! स्त्री-पुरुष जो चाहें खायेंगे। जब युग का अंत आ जाएगा, तो वे एक-दूसरे को बर्दाश्त नहीं करेंगे।

म्लेच्छभूतं जगत्सर्वं भविष्यति युधिष्ठिर न श्राद्धैर्हि पितॄंश्चापि तर्पयिष्यन्ति मानवाः

O Yudhiṣṭhira! The entire world will be overtaken by mleccha-s. Men will no longer satisfy their ancestors through funeral ceremonies.

हे युधिष्ठिर! पूरी दुनिया पर म्लेच्छों का कब्ज़ा हो जाएगा। मनुष्य अब अंतिम संस्कार समारोहों के माध्यम से अपने पूर्वजों को संतुष्ट नहीं करेंगे।

न कश्चित्कस्यचिच्छ्रोता न कश्चित्कस्यचिद्गुरुः तमोग्रस्तस्तदा लोको भविष्यति नराधिप

No one will listen to another. Nor will anyone be a preceptor. O lord of men! The entire world will be enveloped in terrible darkness.

कोई दूसरे की नहीं सुनेगा. न ही कोई उपदेशक बनेगा. हे मनुष्यों के स्वामी! संपूर्ण विश्व भयानक अंधकार में डूब जाएगा।

परमायुश्च भविता तदा वर्षाणि षोडश ततः प्राणान्विमोक्ष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

The greatest lifespan will be for sixteen years. At the time of the destruction of the yuga, this is when the breath of life will be released.

सबसे बड़ी आयु सोलह वर्ष की होगी। युग के विनाश के समय, यही वह समय है जब जीवन की साँसें छूटेंगी।

पञ्चमे वाथ षष्ठे वा वर्षे कन्या प्रसूयते सप्तवर्षाष्टवर्षाश्च प्रजास्यन्ति नरास्तदा

Girls who are five or six years old will give birth. Boys who are seven or eight years old will beget children.

पाँच या छह वर्ष की लड़कियाँ जन्म देंगी। जो लड़के सात या आठ वर्ष के हैं वे बच्चे पैदा करेंगे।

पत्यौ स्त्री तु तदा राजन्पुरुषो वा स्त्रियं प्रति युगान्ते राजशार्दूल न तोषमुपयास्यति

O king! O tiger among kings! At that time, at the end of the yuga, women will not find satisfaction with their husbands, nor men with wives.

हे राजा! हे राजाओं में व्याघ्र! उस समय, युग के अंत में, न तो महिलाओं को अपने पतियों से संतुष्टि मिलेगी, न ही पुरुषों को पत्नियों से।

अल्पद्रव्या वृथालिङ्गा हिंसा च प्रभविष्यति न कश्चित्कस्यचिद्दाता भविष्यति युगक्षये

There will be few possessions. Liṅga will be in vain. There will be violence. At the time of the destruction of the yuga, no one will give to another.

संपत्ति कम होगी. लिंग व्यर्थ हो जाएगा. हिंसा होगी. युग के विनाश के समय कोई किसी को नहीं देगा।

अट्टशूला जनपदाः शिवशूलाश्चतुष्पथाः केशशूलाः स्त्रियश्चापि भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

The countryside will be full of towers. The crossroads will be full of jackals. At the time of the destruction of the yuga, women will be full of hair.

देहात टावरों से भरा होगा. चौराहा गीदड़ों से भर जाएगा। युग के विनाश के समय स्त्रियां बालों से परिपूर्ण हो जाएंगी।

म्लेच्छाः क्रूराः सर्वभक्षा दारुणाः सर्वकर्मसु भाविनः पश्चिमे काले मनुष्या नात्र संशयः

There will be cruel mleccha conduct everywhere. People will eat everything. They will be terrible in all their deeds. There is no doubt that men will be like this, when time comes to an end.

सर्वत्र क्रूर म्लेच्छ आचरण होगा। लोग सब कुछ खा जायेंगे. वे अपने सभी कार्यों में भयानक होंगे. इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि समय समाप्त होने पर मनुष्य ऐसे ही होंगे।

क्रयविक्रयकाले च सर्वः सर्वस्य वञ्चनम् युगान्ते भरतश्रेष्ठ वृत्तिलोभात्करिष्यति

At the time of buying and selling, everyone will steal everything from each other. O best of the Bhārata lineage! At the end of the yuga, they will be driven by the love for riches.

क्रय-विक्रय के समय सब एक-दूसरे से सब कुछ चुरा लेंगे। हे भरत वंश के सर्वश्रेष्ठ! युग के अंत में, वे धन के प्रेम से प्रेरित होंगे।

ज्ञानानि चाप्यविज्ञाय करिष्यन्ति क्रियास्तथा आत्मच्छन्देन वर्तन्ते युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

Though ignorant and without knowledge, they will perform rituals. When the end of the yuga has arrived, they will act as they wish.

अज्ञानी और ज्ञानहीन होते हुए भी वे अनुष्ठान करेंगे। जब युग का अंत आ जाएगा, तो वे जैसा चाहें वैसा कार्य करेंगे।

स्वभावात्क्रूरकर्माणश्चान्योन्यमभिशङ्किनः भवितारो जनाः सर्वे संप्राप्ते युगसंक्षये

When the end of the yuga has arrived, all men will naturally be the performers of cruel deeds and will not trust each other.

जब युग का अंत आ जाएगा, तो सभी मनुष्य स्वाभाविक रूप से क्रूर कर्म करने वाले होंगे और एक-दूसरे पर भरोसा नहीं करेंगे।

आरामांश्चैव वृक्षांश्च नाशयिष्यन्ति निर्व्यथाः भविता संक्षयो लोके जीवितस्य च देहिनाम्

They will destroy trees and groves without a thought. There is no doubt that all beings in the world will find it difficult to ensure a living.

वे बिना सोचे-समझे पेड़ों और उपवनों को नष्ट कर देंगे। इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि दुनिया में सभी प्राणियों को अपना जीवनयापन सुनिश्चित करना मुश्किल हो जाएगा।

तथा लोभाभिभूताश्च चरिष्यन्ति महीमिमाम् ब्राह्मणाश्च भविष्यन्ति ब्रह्मस्वानि च भुञ्जते

O king! Overcome by avarice, they will roam the earth. They will become brāhmana-s and will enjoy the property of brāhmana-s.

हे राजा! लालच से वश में होकर, वे पृथ्वी पर घूमेंगे। वे ब्राह्मण बन जायेंगे और ब्राह्मणों की संपत्ति का आनंद उठायेंगे।

हाहाकृता द्विजाश्चैव भयार्ता वृषलार्दिताः त्रातारमलभन्तो वै भ्रमिष्यन्ति महीमिमाम्

Oppressed by śūdra-s, brāhmana-s will be frightened and will lament. They will wander all over the earth, without anyone to protect them.

शूद्रों से प्रताड़ित होकर ब्राह्मण भयभीत होंगे और विलाप करेंगे। वे पूरी पृथ्वी पर घूमेंगे, उनकी रक्षा करने वाला कोई नहीं होगा।

जीवितान्तकरा रौद्राः क्रूराः प्राणिविहिंसकाः यदा भविष्यन्ति नरास्तदा संक्षेप्स्यते युगम्

Men will be cruel and terrible and will kill others. They will cause violence to beings. When men act in this fashion, the yuga will come to an end.

मनुष्य क्रूर और भयानक होंगे और दूसरों को मार डालेंगे। वे प्राणियों पर हिंसा का कारण बनेंगे। जब मनुष्य इसी प्रकार आचरण करेंगे तो युग का अंत हो जायेगा।

आश्रयिष्यन्ति च नदीः पर्वतान्विषमाणि च प्रधावमाना वित्रस्ता द्विजाः कुरुकुलोद्वह

O extender of the Kuru lineage! Brāhmana-s, will be oppressed by bandits and will swiftly flee in fear like crows,

हे कुरु वंश के विस्तारक! ब्राह्मणों पर डाकुओं द्वारा अत्याचार किया जाएगा और वे कौवे की तरह डरकर तेजी से भाग जाएंगे,

दस्युप्रपीडिता राजन्काका इव द्विजोत्तमाः कुराजभिश्च सततं करभारप्रपीडिताः

O king! The best among brāhmana-s, seeking refuge in rivers, mountains and uneven terrain, oppressed by the burden of taxes.

हे राजा! करों के बोझ से पीड़ित होकर नदियों, पहाड़ों और ऊबड़-खाबड़ इलाकों में शरण लेने वाले ब्राह्मणों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ।

धैर्यं त्यक्त्वा महीपाल दारुणे युगसंक्षये विकर्माणि करिष्यन्ति शूद्राणां परिचारकाः

O protector of the earth! At the time of the destruction of the yuga, they will discard all patience.

हे पृथ्वी के रक्षक! युग के विनाश के समय वे सब धैर्य त्याग देंगे।

शूद्रा धर्मं प्रवक्ष्यन्ति ब्राह्मणाः पर्युपासकाः श्रोतारश्च भविष्यन्ति प्रामाण्येन व्यवस्थिताः

They will perform deeds that should not be performed and will serve the śūdra-s. The śūdra-s will explain dharma to brāhmana-s and their servants and they will listen to these explanations and proofs.

वे ऐसे कर्म करेंगे जो नहीं करने चाहिए और शूद्रों की सेवा करेंगे। शूद्र ब्राह्मणों और उनके सेवकों को धर्म समझाएंगे और वे इन स्पष्टीकरणों और प्रमाणों को सुनेंगे।

विपरीतश्च लोकोऽयं भविष्यत्यधरोत्तरः एडूकान्पूजयिष्यन्ति वर्जयिष्यन्ति देवताः शूद्राः परिचरिष्यन्ति न द्विजान्युगसंक्षये

Everything in the world will be utterly upside down. Discarding the gods, collections of bones will be worshipped.

दुनिया में सब कुछ बिल्कुल उल्टा हो जाएगा। देवताओं का त्याग कर अस्थियों के संग्रह की पूजा की जायेगी।

आश्रमेषु महर्षीणां ब्राह्मणावसथेषु च देवस्थानेषु चैत्येषु नागानामालयेषु च

At the end of the yuga, śūdra-s will no longer serve brāhmana-s, in the hermitages of maharṣi-s and in the residences of brāhmana-s.

युग के अंत में, शूद्र महर्षियों के आश्रमों और ब्राह्मणों के आवासों में ब्राह्मणों की सेवा नहीं करेंगे।

एडूकचिह्ना पृथिवी न देवगृहभूषिता भविष्यति युगे क्षीणे तद्युगान्तस्य लक्षणम्

In places meant for the gods, in sanctuaries and in the abodes of the serpents, the earth will not be marked by abodes of the gods, but by collections of bones.

देवताओं के लिए बने स्थानों, अभयारण्यों और नागों के निवासों में, पृथ्वी देवताओं के निवास से नहीं, बल्कि हड्डियों के संग्रह से चिह्नित होगी।

यदा रौद्रा धर्महीना मांसादाः पानपास्तथा भविष्यन्ति नरा नित्यं तदा संक्षेप्स्यते युगम्

When the yuga decays, these are the signs of the destruction of the yuga. Men will always become terrible, addicted to meat and liquor and weak in dharma.

जब युग का क्षय होता है तो ये युग के विनाश के लक्षण हैं। मनुष्य सदैव भयानक, मांस-मदिरा के आदी तथा धर्म में निर्बल हो जायेंगे।

पुष्पे पुष्पं यदा राजन्फले फलमुपाश्रितम् प्रजास्यति महाराज तदा संक्षेप्स्यते युगम्

That is the time for the decay of the yuga. O king! At that time, flowers will be created in flowers and fruit in fruit. O great king! The yuga will decay at that time.

वह युग के क्षय का समय है। हे राजा! उस समय फूलों में फूल और फलों में फल उत्पन्न हो जायेंगे। हे महान राजा! उस समय युग का क्षय हो जायेगा।

अकालवर्षी पर्जन्यो भविष्यति गते युगे अक्रमेण मनुष्याणां भविष्यति तदा क्रिया विरोधमथ यास्यन्ति वृषला ब्राह्मणैः सह

When the rains shower down at the wrong time, the yuga will be over. The rituals of men will not follow the right order. Śūdra-s will quarrel with brāhmana-s.

जब गलत समय पर वर्षा होगी तो युग समाप्त हो जायेगा। मनुष्य के संस्कार सही क्रम में नहीं चलेंगे। शूद्र ब्राह्मणों से झगड़ा करेंगे।

मही म्लेच्छसमाकीर्णा भविष्यति ततोऽचिरात् करभारभयाद्विप्रा भजिष्यन्ति दिशो दश

The earth will soon be infested with mleccha people. Overcome by the burden of taxation, brāhmana-s will flee in the ten directions.

पृथ्वी शीघ्र ही म्लेच्छ लोगों से ग्रस्त हो जायेगी। कर के बोझ से दबकर ब्राह्मण दसों दिशाओं में भाग जायेंगे।

निर्विशेषा जनपदा नरावृष्टिभिरर्दिताः आश्रमानभिपत्स्यन्ति फलमूलोपजीविनः

Without distinction, men in all countries will be oppressed by drought. They will resort to hermitages and live on fruits and roots.

बिना किसी भेदभाव के, सभी देशों में मनुष्य सूखे से पीड़ित होंगे। वे आश्रमों का सहारा लेंगे और फलों और जड़ों पर रहेंगे।

एवं पर्याकुले लोके मर्यादा न भविष्यति न स्थास्यन्त्युपदेशे च शिष्या विप्रियकारिणः

When the world is so turbulent, there will be no limits. Disciples will not heed their instructions, but will act in an unpleasant way.

जब दुनिया इतनी अशांत हो तो कोई सीमा नहीं होगी। शिष्य उनके निर्देशों पर ध्यान नहीं देंगे, बल्कि अप्रिय तरीके से कार्य करेंगे।

आचार्योपनिधिश्चैव वत्स्यते तदनन्तरम् अर्थयुक्त्या प्रवत्स्यन्ति मित्रसंबन्धिबान्धवाः अभावः सर्वभूतानां युगान्ते च भविष्यति

O sons! Preceptors will then have to live without any riches. Friends, kin and relatives will act only out of love for wealth. When the end of the yuga arrives, all beings will suffer from want.

हे पुत्रो! तब उपदेशकों को बिना किसी धन-संपदा के रहना होगा। मित्र, कुटुम्बी और सम्बन्धी केवल धन के प्रेम के कारण ही कार्य करेंगे। जब युग का अंत आएगा, तो सभी प्राणी अभाव से पीड़ित होंगे।

दिशः प्रज्वलिताः सर्वा नक्षत्राणि चलानि च ज्योतींषि प्रतिकूलानि वाताः पर्याकुलास्तथा उल्कापाताश्च बहवो महाभयनिदर्शकाः

All the directions will blaze. All the constellations will move. All the stars will be adverse, all the winds will be turbulent. There will be many showers of meteors, indicative of great fear.

सारी दिशाएँ दहक उठेंगी। सभी नक्षत्र चलेंगे. सारे तारे प्रतिकूल होंगे, सारी हवाएँ अशांत होंगी। बड़े भय की सूचक उल्काओं की अनेक वर्षा होगी।

षड्भिरन्यैश्च सहितो भास्करः प्रतपिष्यति तुमुलाश्चापि निर्ह्रादा दिग्दाहाश्चापि सर्वशः कबन्धान्तर्हितो भानुरुदयास्तमये तदा

The sun will torment with six others. There will be a thunderous noise and conflagrations in all the directions. From rising to setting, the sun will be obscured by the headless torso.

सूरज छह अन्य के साथ पीड़ा देगा. सभी दिशाओं में भयंकर शोर और आग भड़क उठेगी। उगने से लेकर अस्त होने तक, सूरज बिना सिर वाले धड़ से ढका रहेगा।

अकालवर्षी च तदा भविष्यति सहस्रदृक् सस्यानि च न रोक्ष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

The illustrious one with the thousand eyes will not rain at the right time. At the time of the end of the yuga, crops will not grow.

हजारों नेत्रों वाला वह तेजस्वी व्यक्ति सही समय पर वर्षा नहीं करेगा। युग के अंत के समय फसलें नहीं उगेंगी।

अभीक्ष्णं क्रूरवादिन्यः परुषा रुदितप्रियाः भर्तॄणां वचने चैव न स्थास्यन्ति तदा स्त्रियः

Women will be harsh and cruel in speech and will love to cry. Women will not follow the words of their husbands.

स्त्रियां वाणी में कठोर एवं क्रूर होंगी तथा रोना पसंद करेंगी। महिलाएं अपने पति की बातों पर अमल नहीं करेंगी।

पुत्राश्च मातापितरौ हनिष्यन्ति युगक्षये सूदयिष्यन्ति च पतीन्स्त्रियः पुत्रानपाश्रिताः

When the destruction of the yuga arrives, sons will kill their fathers and mothers. Women will kill their husbands and depend on their sons.

जब युग का विनाश आएगा, तो पुत्र अपने पिता और माता को मार डालेंगे। स्त्रियाँ अपने पतियों को मार डालेंगी और अपने पुत्रों पर निर्भर रहेंगी।

अपर्वणि महाराज सूर्यं राहुरुपैष्यति युगान्ते हुतभुक्चापि सर्वतः प्रज्वलिष्यति

O great king! Rāhu will envelope the sun at the wrong time. When the end of the yuga arrives, fires will blaze up in all the directions.

हे महान राजा! राहु गलत समय पर सूर्य को घेर लेगा। जब युग का अंत आएगा, तो सभी दिशाओं में आग भड़क उठेगी।

पानीयं भोजनं चैव याचमानास्तदाध्वगाः न लप्स्यन्ते निवासं च निरस्ताः पथि शेरते

Travellers will ask for food and drink, but not receive it. They will not find shelter and will be thrown out. They will have to sleep on the road.

यात्री खाने-पीने की चीज़ें माँगेंगे, लेकिन उन्हें नहीं मिलेगा। उन्हें आश्रय नहीं मिलेगा और बाहर निकाल दिया जायेगा। उन्हें सड़क पर सोना पड़ेगा.

निर्घातवायसा नागाः शकुनाः समृगद्विजाः रूक्षा वाचो विमोक्ष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

When the end of the yuga is near, crows of ill omen, serpents, vultures, animals and birds will screech harshly.

जब युग का अंत निकट होगा, तब अपशकुन करने वाले कौवे, नाग, गिद्ध, पशु-पक्षी जोर-जोर से चिल्लाएंगे।

मित्रसंबन्धिनश्चापि संत्यक्ष्यन्ति नरास्तदा जनं परिजनं चापि युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

When the end of the yuga has arrived, men will be abandoned by their friends and relatives, kin and followers.

जब युग का अंत आ जाएगा, तो मनुष्यों को उनके दोस्तों और रिश्तेदारों, रिश्तेदारों और अनुयायियों द्वारा त्याग दिया जाएगा।

अथ देशान्दिशश्चापि पत्तनानि पुराणि च क्रमशः संश्रयिष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते

When the end of the yuga has arrived, they will gradually seek refuge in other countries, regions, settlements and cities,

जब युग का अंत आ जाएगा, तो वे धीरे-धीरे अन्य देशों, क्षेत्रों, बस्तियों और शहरों में शरण लेंगे,

हा तात हा सुतेत्येवं तदा वाचः सुदारुणाः विक्रोशमानश्चान्योन्यं जनो गां पर्यटिष्यति

with extremely terrible words of 'Āla-s, father!' and 'Āla-s, son!'. In extreme affliction, men will roam around.

'आला-स, पिता!' के अत्यंत भयानक शब्दों के साथ! और 'अला-एस, बेटा!'। अत्यंत क्लेश में मनुष्य इधर-उधर घूमेंगे।

ततस्तुमुलसंघाते वर्तमाने युगक्षये द्विजातिपूर्वको लोकः क्रमेण प्रभविष्यति

Then, when the terrible time of the destruction of the yuga is over, beings gradually come into existence, beginning with brāhmana-s.

फिर, जब युग के विनाश का भयानक समय समाप्त हो जाता है, तो जीव धीरे-धीरे अस्तित्व में आते हैं, जिसकी शुरुआत ब्राह्मण से होती है।

ततः कालान्तरेऽन्यस्मिन्पुनर्लोकविवृद्धये भविष्यति पुनर्दैवमनुकूलं यदृच्छया

When that period is over, the world begins to prosper again. The gods again become favourable, as they desire.

जब वह अवधि समाप्त हो जाती है, तो दुनिया फिर से समृद्ध होने लगती है। देवता फिर से अनुकूल हो जाते हैं, जैसी वे इच्छा करते हैं।

यदा चन्द्रश्च सूर्यश्च तथा तिष्यबृहस्पती एकराशौ समेष्यन्ति प्रपत्स्यति तदा कृतम्

When the sun, the moon, Tiṣya and Jupiter are in conjunction in the same sign of the zodiac, then kṛta begins again.

जब सूर्य, चंद्रमा, तिष्य और बृहस्पति एक ही राशि में युति में होते हैं, तो कृत फिर से शुरू होता है।

कालवर्षी च पर्जन्यो नक्षत्राणि शुभानि च प्रदक्षिणा ग्रहाश्चापि भविष्यन्त्यनुलोमगाः क्षेमं सुभिक्षमारोग्यं भविष्यति निरामयम्

Rains shower at the right time and the stars become favourable. The planets revolve in a propitious way. Safety, abundance of food, health and recovery from disease are prevalent.

वर्षा सही समय पर होती है और सितारे अनुकूल हो जाते हैं। ग्रह शुभ भाव से घूमते हैं। सुरक्षा, भोजन की प्रचुरता, स्वास्थ्य और बीमारी से उबरना प्रचलित है।

कल्किर्विष्णुयशा नाम द्विजः कालप्रचोदितः उत्पत्स्यते महावीर्यो महाबुद्धिपराक्रमः

Driven by time, a brāhmaṇa named Kalki Vishnuyasha will be born. He will have great energy, great intelligence and valour.

समय के अनुसार, कल्कि विष्णुयशा नामक एक ब्राह्मण का जन्म होगा। उसके पास महान ऊर्जा, महान बुद्धि और वीरता होगी।

संभूतः संभलग्रामे ब्राह्मणावसथे शुभे मनसा तस्य सर्वाणि वाहनान्यायुधानि च उपस्थास्यन्ति योधाश्च शस्त्राणि कवचानि च

He will be born in a village named Sāmbhala, in an auspicious brāhmaṇa household. As soon as he thinks about it, all means of transport, weapons, warriors, missiles and armour will manifest themselves before him.

उनका जन्म सम्भला नामक गाँव में एक शुभ ब्राह्मण घर में होगा। जैसे ही वह इसके बारे में सोचता है, परिवहन के सभी साधन, हथियार, योद्धा, मिसाइलें और कवच उसके सामने प्रकट हो जाएंगे।

स धर्मविजयी राजा चक्रवर्ती भविष्यति स चेमं संकुलं लोकं प्रसादमुपनेष्यति

He will be a king and emperor, triumphing on the basis of dharma. He will restore order in this turbulent world.

वह धर्म के आधार पर विजयी होने वाला राजा और सम्राट होगा। वह इस अशांत दुनिया में व्यवस्था बहाल करेगा।

उत्थितो ब्राह्मणो दीप्तः क्षयान्तकृदुदारधीः स संक्षेपो हि सर्वस्य युगस्य परिवर्तकः

When arisen, that radiant brāhmaṇa, immensely intelligent, will bring an end to the destruction by destroying everything. He will initiate the yuga.

उत्पन्न होने पर, वह तेजस्वी ब्राह्मण, अत्यंत बुद्धिमान, सब कुछ नष्ट करके विनाश का अंत करेगा। वे युग का सूत्रपात करेंगे।

स सर्वत्र गतान्क्षुद्रान्ब्राह्मणैः परिवारितः उत्सादयिष्यति तदा सर्वान्म्लेच्छगणान्द्विजः

Wherever he goes, he will be surrounded by brāhmana-s. That brāhmaṇa will then uproot the mean masses of mleccha-s, wherever they may happen to be."

वह जहां भी जाएगा, वह ब्राह्मणों से घिरा रहेगा। फिर वह ब्राह्मण म्लेच्छों की नीच जनता को, चाहे वे कहीं भी हों, उखाड़ फेंकेगा।"
