वैशंपायन उवाच एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु सर्ववादित्रनिस्वनः बभूव तुमुलः शब्दस्त्वन्तरिक्षे दिवौकसाम्

Vaiśampāyana said: At that time, there was a tremendous sound in the sky, created by all the musical instruments of the gods.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: उस समय, आकाश में देवताओं के सभी संगीत वाद्ययंत्रों द्वारा उत्पन्न एक जबरदस्त ध्वनि थी।

रथनेमिस्वनश्चैव घण्टाशब्दश्च भारत पृथग्व्यालमृगाणां च पक्षिणां चैव सर्वशः

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! There was the sound of chariot wheels and the tolling of bells. The cries of beasts of prey, animals and all kinds of birds resounded everywhere.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! रथ के पहियों की आवाज और घंटियों की आवाज आ रही थी। हिंसक जानवरों, जानवरों और सभी प्रकार के पक्षियों की चीखें हर जगह गूँज उठीं।

तं समन्तादनुययुर्गन्धर्वाप्सरसस्तथा विमानैः सूर्यसंकाशैर्देवराजमरिंदमम्

The king of the gods, the destroyer of enemies, arrived, accompanied by gāndharva-s and āpsara-s on all sides, all riding vimāna-s that were like the sun.

देवताओं के राजा, शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले, चारों ओर से गंधर्वों और अप्सराओं के साथ आए, वे सभी सूर्य के समान विमानों पर सवार थे।

ततः स हरिभिर्युक्तं जाम्बूनदपरिष्कृतम् मेघनादिनमारुह्य श्रिया परमया ज्वलन्

Then, mounted on the chariot adorned with gold, yoked with horses, and resounding like thunder, blazing with supreme splendor,

फिर वे सोने से सुसज्जित, घोड़ों से जुते हुए, गड़गड़ाहट के समान गूँजते हुए, परम वैभव से प्रज्वलित रथ पर आरूढ़ हुए।

पार्थानभ्याजगामाशु देवराजः पुरंदरः आगत्य च सहस्राक्षो रथादवरुरोह वै

the king of the gods, Purandara, quickly approached the Pārtha-s. Having arrived, the thousand-eyed one descended from his chariot.

देवताओं के राजा, पुरंदर, तुरंत पार्थ-एस के पास पहुंचे। आते ही, सहस्र नेत्रों वाला वह व्यक्ति अपने रथ से नीचे उतरा।

तं दृष्ट्वैव महात्मानं धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः भ्रातृभिः सहितः श्रीमान्देवराजमुपागमत्

As soon as he saw that great-souled one, Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira, together with his brothers, approached that handsome king of the gods.

उस महाबली को देखते ही धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर अपने भाइयों सहित उन सुन्दर देवताओं के राजा के पास पहुँचे।

पूजयामास चैवाथ विधिवद्भूरिदक्षिणः यथार्हममितात्मानं विधिदृष्टेन कर्मणा

The one who was generous in his gifts worshipped the one whose soul was infinite, in accordance with the appropriate honours and the decreed rituals.

जो अपने उपहारों में उदार था, वह उसकी पूजा करता था जिसकी आत्मा अनंत थी, उचित सम्मान और निर्धारित अनुष्ठानों के अनुसार।

धनंजयश्च तेजस्वी प्रणिपत्य पुरंदरम् भृत्यवत्प्रणतस्तस्थौ देवराजसमीपतः

The energetic Dhanañjayā bowed in obeisance before Purandara and before the king of the gods, remained prone like a servant.

ऊर्जावान धनंजय पुरंदर और देवताओं के राजा के सामने झुक गए, एक सेवक की तरह झुके रहे।

आप्यायत महातेजाः कुन्तीपुत्रो युधिष्ठिरः धनंजयमभिप्रेक्ष्य विनीतं स्थितमन्तिके

The immensely energetic Yudhiṣṭhira, Kuntī's son, saw Dhanañjayā, his head bowed in humility.

अत्यंत ऊर्जावान कुंती पुत्र युधिष्ठिर ने धनंजय को देखा, उनका सिर विनम्रता से झुक गया।

जटिलं देवराजस्य तपोयुक्तमकल्मषम् हर्षेण महताविष्टः फल्गुनस्याथ दर्शनात्

The king of the gods was extremely delighted on seeing Phālguna and inhaled the fragrance of his matted head, cleansed through austerities.

देवताओं के राजा फाल्गुन को देखकर अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए और उन्होंने तपस्या से शुद्ध किए गए उसके उलझे हुए सिर की सुगंध ली।

तं तथादीनमनसं राजानं हर्षसंप्लुतम् उवाच वचनं धीमान्देवराजः पुरंदरः

The king rejoiced in his heart and was overcome with delight. Purandara, the wise king of the gods, spoke to him.

राजा मन ही मन प्रसन्न हुआ और प्रसन्नता से अभिभूत हो गया। देवताओं के बुद्धिमान राजा पुरंदर ने उनसे बात की।

त्वमिमां पृथिवीं राजन्प्रशासिष्यसि पाण्डव स्वस्ति प्राप्नुहि कौन्तेय काम्यकं पुनराश्रमम्

"O king! O Pāṇḍava! You will rule the earth. O Kaunteya! Be fortunate. Return again to the hermitage of Kāmyaka.

"हे राजा! हे पांडव! आप पृथ्वी पर शासन करेंगे। हे कौन्तेय! भाग्यशाली हो। काम्यक के आश्रम में फिर से लौट आओ।"

अस्त्राणि लब्धानि च पाण्डवेन; सर्वाणि मत्तः प्रयतेन राजन् कृतप्रियश्चास्मि धनंजयेन; जेतुं न शक्यस्त्रिभिरेष लोकैः

O king! Having performed deeds that brought me pleasure, Pāṇḍava Dhanañjayā has obtained all the weapons from me. No one in the worlds is capable of vanquishing him now."

हे राजा! ऐसे कर्म करके जिनसे मुझे प्रसन्नता मिलती है, पांडव धनंजय ने मुझसे सभी हथियार प्राप्त कर लिए हैं। अब संसार में कोई भी उसे पराजित करने में सक्षम नहीं है।"

एवमुक्त्वा सहस्राक्षः कुन्तीपुत्रं युधिष्ठिरम् जगाम त्रिदिवं हृष्टः स्तूयमानो महर्षिभिः

Having spoken these words to Kuntī's son Yudhiṣṭhira, and having been worshipped by the maharṣi-s, the one with the thousand eyes happily returned to heaven.

कुंतीपुत्र युधिष्ठिर से ये वचन कहकर और महर्षियों द्वारा पूजन किये जाने पर वह सहस्र नेत्रों वाला वह व्यक्ति प्रसन्नतापूर्वक स्वर्ग लौट गया।

धनेश्वरगृहस्थानां पाण्डवानां समागमम् शक्रेण य इमं विद्वानधीयीत समाहितः

He who studies this account of the meeting between the Pāṇḍava-s and Śākra in the abode of the lord of riches,

जो धन के स्वामी के निवास में पांडवों और शक्र के बीच मुलाकात के इस वृत्तांत का अध्ययन करता है,

संवत्सरं ब्रह्मचारी नियतः संशितव्रतः स जीवेत निराबाधः सुसुखी शरदां शतम्

the learned and controlled one who observes brahmacarya for a year, restrained and rigid in his vows, will never face obstructions and will live happily for a hundred autumns.

जो विद्वान और नियंत्रित व्यक्ति एक वर्ष तक ब्रह्मचर्य का पालन करता है, अपने व्रतों में संयमित और कठोर होता है, उसे कभी बाधाओं का सामना नहीं करना पड़ेगा और वह सौ शरद ऋतु तक खुशी से रहेगा।
