वैशंपायन उवाच तत्र ते पुरुषव्याघ्राः परमं शौचमास्थिताः षड्रात्रमवसन्वीरा धनंजयदिदृक्षया तस्मिन्विहरमाणाश्च रममाणाश्च पाण्डवाः

Vaiśampāyana said: Those brave tigers among men observed great purity and lived there for six nights, hoping to see Dhanañjayā. The Pāṇḍava-s sported with delight in that beautiful grove

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: मनुष्यों में से उन बहादुर बाघों ने बड़ी पवित्रता का पालन किया और धनंजय को देखने की आशा में छह रातों तक वहां रहे। पाण्डव उस सुन्दर उपवन में आनन्दपूर्वक विहार करने लगे

मनोज्ञे काननवरे सर्वभूतमनोरमे पादपैः पुष्पविकचैः फलभारावनामितैः

that was pleasing to all beings. It had trees ladened with blossoms and were bent down, burdened with fruit.

जो सभी प्राणियों को प्रसन्न कर रहा था। उसमें फूलों से लदे हुए और फलों के बोझ से झुके हुए पेड़ थे।

शोभितं सर्वतोरम्यैः पुंस्कोकिलकुलाकुलैः स्निग्धपत्रैरविरलैः शीतच्छायैर्मनोरमैः

It was beautiful everywhere, astir with flocks of male cuckoos. The foliage was tender and uninterrupted. It was cool with shade and charming.

नर कोयलों ​​के झुंडों से घिरा हुआ हर जगह सुंदर था। पत्तियाँ कोमल और निर्बाध थीं। वह छाया के साथ शीतल और मनमोहक था।

सरांसि च विचित्राणि प्रसन्नसलिलानि च कमलैः सोत्पलैस्तत्र भ्राजमानानि सर्वशः पश्यन्तश्चारुरूपाणि रेमिरे तत्र पाण्डवाः

There were beautiful ponds with clear water. There were lotuses and lilies there, making every side dazzling. The Pāṇḍava-s were delighted at witnessing these beautiful sights there.

वहाँ साफ पानी वाले सुंदर तालाब थे। वहाँ कमल और कुमुदिनी के फूल थे, जो हर ओर को चकाचौंध कर रहे थे। वहाँ इन सुन्दर दृश्यों को देखकर पाण्डव बहुत प्रसन्न हुए।

पुण्यगन्धः सुखस्पर्शो ववौ तत्र समीरणः ह्लादयन्पाण्डवान्सर्वान्सकृष्णान्सद्विजर्षभान्

A fragrant breeze wafted there, pleasant to the touch. This gladdened the hearts of all the Pāṇḍava-s, Kṛṣṇā and the bulls among the brāhmana-s.

वहाँ एक सुगंधित हवा बह रही थी, जो स्पर्श के लिए सुखद थी। इससे सभी पांडवों, कृष्ण और ब्राह्मणों के बीच बैलों के दिल खुश हो गए।

ततः पूर्वोत्तरो वायुः पवमानो यदृच्छया सहस्रपत्रमर्काभं दिव्यं पद्ममुदावहत्

Then, in accordance with its own wishes, a breeze blew from the north-east. It carried with it a divine lotus with one thousand petals.

तभी अपनी इच्छानुसार उत्तर-पूर्व से एक हवा चली। यह अपने साथ एक हजार पंखुड़ियों वाला एक दिव्य कमल लेकर आया था।

तदपश्यत पाञ्चाली दिव्यगन्धं मनोरमम् अनिलेनाहृतं भूमौ पतितं जलजं शुचि

Pāñcālī saw that beautiful and pure lotus descend on the ground, redolent with divine fragrance and carried by the wind.

पंचाली ने उस सुंदर और शुद्ध कमल को जमीन पर उतरते देखा, जो दिव्य सुगंध से लाल था और हवा द्वारा उड़ाया गया था।

तच्छुभा शुभमासाद्य सौगन्धिकमनुत्तमम् अतीव मुदिता राजन्भीमसेनमथाब्रवीत्

O king! The fortunate one approached that pure and supremely fragrant flower and extremely happily, told Bhīmasena,

हे राजा! भाग्यशाली व्यक्ति उस शुद्ध और परम सुगंधित फूल के पास गया और अत्यंत प्रसन्न होकर, भीमसेन से कहा,

पश्य दिव्यं सुरुचिरं भीम पुष्पमनुत्तमम् गन्धसंस्थानसंपन्नं मनसो मम नन्दनम्

"O Bhīmā! Look at this divine, dazzling and supreme blossom. It is full of fragrance and has delighted my heart.

"हे भीम! इस दिव्य, चमकदार और सर्वोच्च फूल को देखो। यह सुगंध से भरा है और मेरे दिल को प्रसन्न कर रहा है।

एतत्तु धर्मराजाय प्रदास्यामि परंतप हरेरिदं मे कामाय काम्यके पुनराश्रमे

O destroyer of enemies! I will give this to Dharmarāja. But to satisfy my desire, get me others, so that I can take them back to the hermitage in Kāmyaka.

हे शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले! मैं इसे धर्मराज को दे दूँगा। लेकिन मेरी इच्छा को पूरा करने के लिए, मुझे अन्य लोगों को लाओ, ताकि मैं उन्हें काम्यका में आश्रम में वापस ले जा सकूं।

यदि तेऽहं प्रिया पार्थ बहूनीमान्युपाहर तान्यहं नेतुमिच्छामि काम्यकं पुनराश्रमम्

O Pārtha! If I am your beloved, get them for me in large numbers. I wish to take them back to the hermitage in Kāmyaka."

हे पार्थ! यदि मैं तुम्हारा प्रिय हूँ तो उन्हें मेरे लिये बड़ी संख्या में ले आओ। मैं उन्हें काम्यका के आश्रम में वापस ले जाना चाहता हूँ।"

एवमुक्त्वा तु पाञ्चाली भीमसेनमनिन्दिता जगाम धर्मराजाय पुष्पमादाय तत्तदा

Having addressed these words to Bhīmasena, the unblemished Pāñcālī then took the flower to Dharmarāja.

भीमसेन को ये शब्द कहकर, निष्कलंक पंचाली ने फूल को धर्मराज के पास ले लिया।

अभिप्रायं तु विज्ञाय महिष्याः पुरुषर्षभः प्रियायाः प्रियकामः स भीमो भीमपराक्रमः

Learning about the queen's wishes, the immensely strong Bhīmā, bull among men, departed, to do that which would bring pleasure to his beloved.

रानी की इच्छाओं के बारे में जानकर, अत्यंत बलशाली भीम, जो पुरुषों में बैल था, वह करने के लिए चला गया, जिससे उसकी प्रेमिका को खुशी मिलेगी।

वातं तमेवाभिमुखो यतस्तत्पुष्पमागतम् आजिहीर्षुर्जगामाशु स पुष्पाण्यपराण्यपि

He swiftly left in the direction from which the breeze had carried the flower, so that he might obtain more flowers.

वह तेज़ी से उस दिशा में चला गया जहाँ से हवा फूल लेकर आई थी, ताकि उसे और अधिक फूल मिल सकें।

रुक्मपृष्ठं धनुर्गृह्य शरांश्चाशीविषोपमान् मृगराडिव संक्रुद्धः प्रभिन्न इव कुञ्जरः

He grasped his bow that was inlaid with gold and arrows that were like the virulent venom of snakes. He was like an angry king of the animals, or like an elephant in rut.

उसने सोने से जड़ा हुआ अपना धनुष और साँपों के विषैले विष के समान बाण पकड़ लिये। वह जानवरों के क्रोधित राजा की तरह था, या एक बिगड़ैल हाथी की तरह था।

द्रौपद्याः प्रियमन्विच्छन्स्वबाहुबलमाश्रितः व्यपेतभयसंमोहः शैलमभ्यपतद्बली

The one with the strength of his arms wished to do that which would bring pleasure to Draupadī. The strong one was without fear or delusion and climbed up the mountain.

वह अपनी भुजाओं के बल से वह करना चाहता था जिससे द्रौपदी को प्रसन्नता हो। वह बलवान बिना किसी डर या भ्रम के पहाड़ पर चढ़ गया।

स तं द्रुमलतागुल्मच्छन्नं नीलशिलातलम् गिरिं चचारारिहरः किंनराचरितं शुभम्

It was covered with trees, creepers and lantanas and strewn with blue stones. The destroyer of enemies went up the sacred mountain, frequented by kinnara-s.

वह पेड़ों, लताओं और लताओं से ढका हुआ था और नीले पत्थरों से बिखरा हुआ था। शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाला पवित्र पर्वत पर चढ़ गया, जहाँ अक्सर किन्नर आते थे।

नानावर्णधरैश्चित्रं धातुद्रुममृगाण्डजैः सर्वभूषणसंपूर्णं भूमेर्भुजमिवोच्छ्रितम्

There were many kinds of minerals, trees and birds of different types. Adorned with all kinds of ornaments, it seemed to be like an arm of the earth, stretching upwards.

वहाँ अनेक प्रकार के खनिज पदार्थ, वृक्ष और विभिन्न प्रकार के पक्षी थे। सभी प्रकार के आभूषणों से सुसज्जित, वह ऊपर की ओर फैली हुई पृथ्वी की एक भुजा के समान प्रतीत होती थी।

सर्वर्तुरमणीयेषु गन्धमादनसानुषु सक्तचक्षुरभिप्रायं हृदयेनानुचिन्तयन्

Gandhamādana's peak was beautiful everywhere. His eyes and his desires were on it and he thought about it in his heart.

गंधमादन का शिखर सर्वत्र शोभायमान था। उसकी आँखें और उसकी अभिलाषाएँ उस पर टिकी थीं और उसने अपने हृदय में इसके बारे में सोचा।

पुंस्कोकिलनिनादेषु षट्पदाभिरुतेषु च बद्धश्रोत्रमनश्चक्षुर्जगामामितविक्रमः

The infinitely valorous one's ears, mind and eyes were fixed on the peaks that resounded to the sounds of male cuckoos and the humming of bees.

उस असीम वीर के कान, मन और आँखें उन चोटियों पर टिकी हुई थीं जो नर कोयल की आवाज़ और मधुमक्खियों की गुंजन से गूंज रही थीं।

जिघ्रमाणो महातेजाः सर्वर्तुकुसुमोद्भवम् गन्धमुद्दाममुद्दामो वने मत्त इव द्विपः

The greatly energetic one inhaled the fragrance of the blossom everywhere and proceeded to climb up Gandhamādana, like a mad elephant in the forest.

अत्यंत ऊर्जावान व्यक्ति ने हर जगह फूल की सुगंध महसूस की और जंगल में पागल हाथी की तरह गंधमादन पर चढ़ने के लिए आगे बढ़ा।

ह्रियमाणश्रमः पित्रा संप्रहृष्टतनूरुहः पितुः संस्पर्शशीतेन गन्धमादनवायुना

His father, the cool breeze that blows from Gandhamādana, took away his exhaustion and fanned by this, his body hair stood up.

उनके पिता, गंधमादन से चलने वाली ठंडी हवा ने उनकी थकावट को दूर कर दिया और इससे उनके शरीर के बाल खड़े हो गए।

स यक्षगन्धर्वसुरब्रह्मर्षिगणसेवितम् विलोडयामास तदा पुष्पहेतोररिंदमः

To obtain the flowers, the destroyer of enemies traversed a region frequented by yakṣa-s, gāndharva-s, gods and masses of brahmarṣi-s.

फूलों को प्राप्त करने के लिए, शत्रुओं के विनाशक ने उस क्षेत्र की यात्रा की जहां यक्ष, गंधर्व, देवता और बड़ी संख्या में ब्रह्मर्षि आते थे।

विषमच्छेदरचितैरनुलिप्तमिवाङ्गुलैः विमलैर्धातुविच्छेदैः काञ्चनाञ्जनराजतैः

The clean sides of the mountain were streaked with minerals—golden, black and silver. The patterns were uneven, as if the mountain had been painted with fingers.

पहाड़ के साफ किनारे खनिजों - सुनहरे, काले और चांदी - से रंगे हुए थे। पैटर्न असमान थे, मानो पहाड़ को उंगलियों से रंग दिया गया हो।

सपक्षमिव नृत्यन्तं पार्श्वलग्नैः पयोधरैः मुक्ताहारैरिव चितं च्युतैः प्रस्रवणोदकैः

With clouds clinging to the sides, the mountain seemed to be dancing, as if on wings. Because of the gushing of water from streams, it seemed to wear a string of pearls.

किनारों पर बादलों से घिरे होने के कारण, पहाड़ नाचता हुआ प्रतीत हो रहा था, मानो पंखों पर। झरनों के पानी के तेज बहाव के कारण ऐसा प्रतीत हो रहा था जैसे उसने मोतियों की माला पहन रखी हो।

अभिरामनदीकुञ्जनिर्झरोदरकन्दरम् अप्सरोनूपुररवैः प्रनृत्तबहुबर्हिणम्

It had lovely groves, waterfalls and caverns. Peacocks danced there, in tune with the anklets of āpsara-s.

इसमें सुंदर उपवन, झरने और गुफाएँ थीं। वहाँ अप्सराओं की पायल की धुन पर मोर नाच रहे थे।

दिग्वारणविषाणाग्रैर्घृष्टोपलशिलातलम् स्रस्तांशुकमिवाक्षोभ्यैर्निम्नगानिःसृतैर्जलैः

The elephants that guard the cardinal directions had rubbed the rocky surface with their tusks. When the water was swiftly released from the streams and descended, it seemed as if the mountain was loosening its garments.

मुख्य दिशाओं की रक्षा करने वाले हाथियों ने चट्टानी सतह को अपने दाँतों से रगड़ दिया था। जब जलधाराओं से पानी तेजी से छूटकर नीचे आने लगा, तो ऐसा लगा मानो पर्वत अपने वस्त्र ढीले कर रहा हो।

सशष्पकवलैः स्वस्थैरदूरपरिवर्तिभिः भयस्याज्ञैश्च हरिणैः कौतूहलनिरीक्षितः

The deer approached and curiously looked at him, unused to fear, with gras-s in their mouths.

हिरण उसके पास आये और उत्सुकता से उसकी ओर देखने लगे, उन्हें डरने की आदत नहीं थी, उनके मुँह में घास थी।

चालयन्नूरुवेगेन लताजालान्यनेकशः आक्रीडमानः कौन्तेयः श्रीमान्वायुसुतो ययौ

Vāyu's son, the handsome Kaunteya, proceeded happily, as if in sport, tearing away many nets of creepers with the force of his thighs.

वायुपुत्र सुन्दर कौन्तेय अपनी जाँघों के बल से लताओं के अनेक जालों को फाड़कर मानो खेल में प्रसन्नतापूर्वक आगे बढ़े।

प्रियामनोरथं कर्तुमुद्यतश्चारुलोचनः प्रांशुः कनकतालाभः सिंहसंहननो युवा

The one with the beautiful eyes wished to do that which would bring pleasure to his beloved. The youth was as tall as a golden palm and his body was like that of a lion.

सुंदर आँखों वाला वह ऐसा करना चाहता था जिससे उसकी प्रेमिका को खुशी मिले। वह युवक सोने की हथेली के समान लम्बा था और उसका शरीर सिंह के समान था।

मत्तवारणविक्रान्तो मत्तवारणवेगवान् मत्तवारणताम्राक्षो मत्तवारणवारणः

He was as strong as a mad elephant and he possessed the speed of a mad elephant. His copper-hued eyes were like that of a mad elephant and he was capable of withstanding a mad elephant.

वह एक पागल हाथी के समान शक्तिशाली था और उसकी गति भी एक पागल हाथी की तरह थी। उसकी तांबे जैसी आंखें पागल हाथी की तरह थीं और वह पागल हाथी को झेलने में सक्षम था।

प्रियपार्श्वोपविष्टाभिर्व्यावृत्ताभिर्विचेष्टितैः यक्षगन्धर्वयोषाभिरदृश्याभिर्निरीक्षितः

Seated by the sides of their beloveds, and invisible to the sight, the wives of yakṣa-s and gāndharva-s, watched him and made expressive gestures.

यक्षों और गंधर्वों की पत्नियाँ, अपनी प्रेमिकाओं के पास बैठी हुई और दृष्टि से अदृश्य होकर, उन्हें देखती रहीं और अभिव्यंजक इशारे करती रहीं।

नवावतारं रूपस्य विक्रीणन्निव पाण्डवः चचार रमणीयेषु गन्धमादनसानुषु

As if having adopted a new body, Pāṇḍava happily ascended Gandhamādana's beautiful peak.

मानो एक नया शरीर धारण कर लिया हो, पांडव ख़ुशी से गंधमादन के सुंदर शिखर पर चढ़ गए।

संस्मरन्विविधान्क्लेशान्दुर्योधनकृतान्बहून् द्रौपद्या वनवासिन्याः प्रियं कर्तुं समुद्यतः

He remembered the many woes that had been inflicted by Duryodhana. Eager to perform the task that the forest-dwelling Draupadī had given,

उन्हें दुर्योधन द्वारा पहुँचाये गये अनेक दुःखों का स्मरण हो आया। वनवासी द्रौपदी ने जो कार्य सौंपा था, उसे करने के लिए उत्सुक हुए।

सोऽचिन्तयद्गते स्वर्गमर्जुने मयि चागते पुष्पहेतोः कथं न्वार्यः करिष्यति युधिष्ठिरः

he thought, "Arjuna has gone to heaven. I have come away to fetch the flowers. What will the āryā Yudhiṣṭhira do?

उसने सोचा, "अर्जुन स्वर्ग चला गया है। मैं फूल लेने आया हूँ। आर्य युधिष्ठिर क्या करेंगे?"

स्नेहान्नरवरो नूनमविश्वासाद्वनस्य च नकुलं सहदेवं च न मोक्ष्यति युधिष्ठिरः

Out of affection and out of distrust for what is in the forest, Yudhiṣṭhira, the best of men, will not release Nākula and Sahadeva.

स्नेह के कारण और जंगल में जो कुछ है उसके प्रति अविश्वास के कारण, नरश्रेष्ठ युधिष्ठिर, नकुल और सहदेव को नहीं छोड़ेंगे।

कथं नु कुसुमावाप्तिः स्याच्छीघ्रमिति चिन्तयन् प्रतस्थे नरशार्दूलः पक्षिराडिव वेगितः

How can I obtain the flowers quickly?" Thinking in this way, the tiger among men travelled with the speed of the king of the birds.

मैं जल्दी से फूल कैसे प्राप्त कर सकता हूँ?" इस तरह सोचते हुए, मनुष्यों के बीच बाघ ने पक्षियों के राजा की गति से यात्रा की।

कम्पयन्मेदिनीं पद्भ्यां निर्घात इव पर्वसु त्रासयन्गजयूथानि वातरंहा वृकोदरः

The earth shook when his feet struck it, like a storm at the end of an erā. The immensely strong Vṛkodara's speed frightened herds of elephants, lions, tigers and animals.

उसके पैरों के प्रहार से पृथ्वी काँप उठी, जैसे एक युग के अंत में तूफ़ान आया हो। अत्यंत बलशाली वृकोदर की गति से हाथियों, सिंहों, बाघों और जानवरों के झुंड भयभीत हो गए।

सिंहव्याघ्रगणांश्चैव मर्दमानो महाबलः उन्मूलयन्महावृक्षान्पोथयंश्चोरसा बली

The strong one forcefully uprooted many gigantic trees and brushed them aside with his chest.

उस बलवान ने बलपूर्वक अनेक विशाल वृक्षों को उखाड़ फेंका और अपनी छाती से उन्हें अलग कर दिया।

लतावल्लीश्च वेगेन विकर्षन्पाण्डुनन्दनः उपर्युपरि शैलाग्रमारुरुक्षुरिव द्विपः विनर्दमानोऽतिभृशं सविद्युदिव तोयदः

Pāṇḍu's son swiftly tore aside creepers and lantanas, as he climbed higher and higher up the peak of the mountain, like an elephant. He roared like a monsoon cloud, streaked with lightning.

पाण्डु का पुत्र हाथी की भाँति पर्वत की चोटी पर तेजी से चढ़ते हुए लताओं और लताओं को अलग कर रहा था। वह बिजली चमकते हुए मानसून के बादल की तरह गर्जना करता था।

तस्य शब्देन घोरेण धनुर्घोषेण चाभिभो त्रस्तानि मृगयूथानि समन्ताद्विप्रदुद्रुवुः

O lord! Awakened by that terrible sound and the twang of his bow, herds of animals were frightened and fled in all directions.

हे भगवान! उस भयानक ध्वनि और उसके धनुष की टंकार से जागकर जानवरों के झुंड भयभीत हो गये और सभी दिशाओं में भाग गये।

अथापश्यन्महाबाहुर्गन्धमादनसानुषु सुरम्यं कदलीषण्डं बहुयोजनविस्तृतम्

On the slopes of the peak of Gandhamādana, the mighty-armed one then saw a beautiful grove of plantain trees that extended for many yojanā-s.

गंधमादन के शिखर की ढलान पर, महाबाहु ने तब केले के पेड़ों का एक सुंदर उपवन देखा जो कई योजन तक फैला हुआ था।

तमभ्यगच्छद्वेगेन क्षोभयिष्यन्महाबलः महागज इवास्रावी प्रभञ्जन्विविधान्द्रुमान्

The immensely strong one swiftly dashed towards it. Like a giant elephant oozing musth, like the wind among many trees,

वह अत्यंत बलशाली तेजी से उसकी ओर झपटा। जैसे एक विशाल हाथी मदमस्त करता है, जैसे कई पेड़ों के बीच हवा,

उत्पाट्य कदलीस्कन्धान्बहुतालसमुच्छ्रयान् चिक्षेप तरसा भीमः समन्ताद्बलिनां वरः

Bhīmā, supreme among those who are strong, uprooted the trunks of many plantain trees that were as large as many palm trees and thrust them aside.

बलवानों में श्रेष्ठ भीम ने अनेक ताड़ के वृक्षों के समान बड़े केले के वृक्षों के तने उखाड़कर एक ओर फेंक दिये।

ततः सत्त्वान्युपाक्रामन्बहूनि च महान्ति च रुरुवारणसंघाश्च महिषाश्च जलाश्रयाः

There were many large animals, herds of ruru, monkeys, lions, buffaloes and aquatic animals.

वहाँ कई बड़े जानवर, रुरु के झुंड, बंदर, शेर, भैंस और जलीय जानवर थे।

सिंहव्याघ्राश्च संक्रुद्धा भीमसेनमभिद्रवन् व्यादितास्या महारौद्रा विनदन्तोऽतिभीषणाः

The lions and tigers were angered and attacked Bhīmasena. They were extremely fearsome. Their jaws gaped and their roars were terrible.

शेर और बाघ क्रोधित हो गए और भीमसेन पर हमला कर दिया। वे अत्यंत डरावने थे. उनके जबड़े खुले हुए थे और उनकी दहाड़ें भयानक थीं।

ततो वायुसुतः क्रोधात्स्वबाहुबलमाश्रितः गजेनाघ्नन्गजं भीमः सिंहं सिंहेन चाभिभूः तलप्रहारैरन्यांश्च व्यहनत्पाण्डवो बली

But Vāyu's son, Bhīmā, used the strength of his arms and angrily killed elephants with elephants and lions with lions. The lord, the strong Pāṇḍava, used the palm of his hand to kill others.

लेकिन वायु पुत्र भीम ने अपनी भुजाओं के बल से क्रोधपूर्वक हाथियों को हाथियों से और सिंहों को सिंहों से मार डाला। भगवान, शक्तिशाली पांडव, दूसरों को मारने के लिए अपने हाथ की हथेली का इस्तेमाल करते थे।

ते हन्यमाना भीमेन सिंहव्याघ्रतरक्षवः भयाद्विससृपुः सर्वे शकृन्मूत्रं च सुस्रुवुः

Thus killed by Bhīmā, lions, tigers and hyenas crept away fearfully, discharging urine and dung.

इस प्रकार भीम द्वारा मारे जाने पर सिंह, बाघ और लकड़बग्घा डरकर दूर भाग गए और मूत्र तथा गोबर त्यागने लगे।

प्रविवेश ततः क्षिप्रं तानपास्य महाबलः वनं पाण्डुसुतः श्रीमाञ्शब्देनापूरयन्दिशः

Pāṇḍu's handsome and immensely strong son then swiftly entered the forest and filled all the directions with his roar.

पाण्डु का सुन्दर और अत्यंत बलशाली पुत्र तेजी से जंगल में घुस गया और उसने अपनी दहाड़ से सभी दिशाओं को भर दिया।

तेन शब्देन चोग्रेण भीमसेनरवेण च वनान्तरगताः सर्वे वित्रेसुर्मृगपक्षिणः

Hearing that terrible roar let out by Bhīmasena, all the animals and birds in the forest were frightened and fled elsewhere.

भीमसेन की वह भयानक गर्जना सुनकर वन के सभी पशु-पक्षी भयभीत हो गये और अन्यत्र भाग गये।

तं शब्दं सहसा श्रुत्वा मृगपक्षिसमीरितम् जलार्द्रपक्षा विहगाः समुत्पेतुः सहस्रशः

On hearing the sounds of the animals and the birds, thousands of birds flew up. Their wings were wet with water.

पशु-पक्षियों की आवाज सुनकर हजारों पक्षी उड़कर ऊपर आ गए। उनके पंख पानी से भीगे हुए थे।

तानौदकान्पक्षिगणान्निरीक्ष्य भरतर्षभः तानेवानुसरन्रम्यं ददर्श सुमहत्सरः

On seeing those masses of aquatic birds, the bull among the Bhārata lineage followed them and saw a beautiful and giant lake.

जलीय पक्षियों के उस समूह को देखकर, भरत वंश के बैल ने उनका पीछा किया और एक सुंदर और विशाल झील देखी।

काञ्चनैः कदलीषण्डैर्मन्दमारुतकम्पितैः वीज्यमानमिवाक्षोभ्यं तीरान्तरविसर्पिभिः

Though it was fanned by clumps of golden plantain trees along its shores, stirred by the breeze, it was tranquil.

हालाँकि इसके किनारों पर सुनहरे केले के पेड़ों के झुरमुट थे, जो हवा से हिल रहे थे, फिर भी यह शांत था।

तत्सरोऽथावतीर्याशु प्रभूतकमलोत्पलम् महागज इवोद्दामश्चिक्रीड बलवद्बली विक्रीड्य तस्मिन्सुचिरमुत्ततारामितद्युतिः

The lake was adorned with many lotuses and lilies. Descending into the water, the strongest among strong ones sported around, like a gigantic elephant. Having sported there for a long time, the infinitely energetic one climbed out

झील अनेक कमलों और कुमुदनी फूलों से सुशोभित थी। पानी में उतरते हुए, बलवानों में से सबसे ताकतवर एक विशाल हाथी की तरह इधर-उधर घूमने लगा। काफी देर तक वहां खेलने के बाद, असीम ऊर्जावान व्यक्ति बाहर निकल गया

ततोऽवगाह्य वेगेन तद्वनं बहुपादपम् दध्मौ च शङ्खं स्वनवत्सर्वप्राणेन पाण्डवः

and swiftly entered the forest that was full of many trees. With the force of his breath, the Pāṇḍava blew on his conch shell.

और तेजी से उस जंगल में घुस गया जो बहुत से पेड़ों से भरा हुआ था। अपनी सांस के बल से पांडव ने अपना शंख बजाया।

तस्य शङ्खस्य शब्देन भीमसेनरवेण च बाहुशब्देन चोग्रेण नर्दन्तीव गिरेर्गुहाः

The sound of the conch shell, Bhīmasena's roars and the terrible sound of the slapping of his arms resounded in the mountainous caverns.

शंख की ध्वनि, भीमसेन की दहाड़ और उसकी भुजाओं की थाप की भयानक ध्वनि पर्वतीय कन्दराओं में गूँज उठी।

तं वज्रनिष्पेषसममास्फोटितरवं भृशम् श्रुत्वा शैलगुहासुप्तैः सिंहैर्मुक्तो महास्वनः

Hearing the loud sound of the slapping, like the roar of thunder, lions that were asleep in the mountainous caverns let out loud roars.

थपेड़ों की गड़गड़ाहट जैसी तेज आवाज सुनकर पर्वतीय कंदराओं में सोये हुए सिंह जोर-जोर से दहाड़ने लगे।

सिंहनादभयत्रस्तैः कुञ्जरैरपि भारत मुक्तो विरावः सुमहान्पर्वतो येन पूरितः

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! The roar of the lions frightened the elephants. The great mountain was filled with their loud trumpeting.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! सिंहों की दहाड़ से हाथी भयभीत हो गये। बड़ा पर्वत उनकी ऊँचे तुरही से भर गया।

तं तु नादं ततः श्रुत्वा सुप्तो वानरपुंगवः प्राजृम्भत महाकायो हनूमान्नाम वानरः

Hanuman, bull among monkeys, was asleep. On hearing these roars, the monkey, gigantic in form, began to yawn.

वानरों में बैल हनुमान सो रहे थे। यह दहाड़ सुनकर विशाल रूपधारी वानर जम्हाई लेने लगा।

कदलीषण्डमध्यस्थो निद्रावशगतस्तदा जृम्भमाणः सुविपुलं शक्रध्वजमिवोच्छ्रितम् आस्फोटयत लाङ्गूलमिन्द्राशनिसमस्वनम्

He was as gigantic as Indra's flagpole and he had been asleep in that clump of plantain trees. As he yawned, he lashed the ground with his tail and the sound was like that of Indra's vajra.

वह इंद्र की ध्वजा के समान विशाल था और केले के पेड़ों के झुरमुट में सो रहा था। जैसे ही उसने जम्हाई ली, उसने अपनी पूँछ से ज़मीन पर प्रहार किया और उसकी आवाज़ इंद्र के वज्र की तरह थी।

तस्य लाङ्गूलनिनदं पर्वतः स गुहामुखैः उद्गारमिव गौर्नर्दमुत्ससर्ज समन्ततः

Like a bellowing cow, on every side, the mountain echoed from the sound of the tail, through the mouths of the giant caverns.

चिल्लाती हुई गाय की तरह, पहाड़ के हर तरफ, विशाल गुफाओं के मुंह से पूंछ की आवाज गूंज उठी।

स लाङ्गूलरवस्तस्य मत्तवारणनिस्वनम् अन्तर्धाय विचित्रेषु चचार गिरिसानुषु

Rising above the sound created by the mad elephants, the sound of the lashing of the tail spread throughout the colourful peak of the mountain.

उन्मत्त हाथियों द्वारा उत्पन्न ध्वनि से ऊपर उठकर, पूँछ की पिटाई की ध्वनि पर्वत के रंगीन शिखर पर फैल गई।

स भीमसेनस्तं श्रुत्वा संप्रहृष्टतनूरुहः शब्दप्रभवमन्विच्छंश्चचार कदलीवनम्

On hearing the noise, Bhīmasena's body hair stood up. In an attempt to identify the source, he roamed around the grove of plantain trees.

शोर सुनकर भीमसेन के शरीर के रोंगटे खड़े हो गये। स्रोत की पहचान करने के प्रयास में, वह केले के पेड़ों के झुरमुट के चारों ओर घूमता रहा।

कदलीवनमध्यस्थमथ पीने शिलातले स ददर्श महाबाहुर्वानराधिपतिं स्थितम्

Then the mighty-armed one found the lord of the monkeys in the middle of the plantain grove, lying down on an elevated and flat slab of stone.

तब महाबाहु ने बंदरों के स्वामी को केले के झुरमुट के बीच में, पत्थर की एक ऊँची और सपाट पटिया पर लेटे हुए पाया।

विद्युत्संघातदुष्प्रेक्ष्यं विद्युत्संघातपिङ्गलम् विद्युत्संघातसदृशं विद्युत्संघातचञ्चलम्

He was difficult to look at, like a flash of lightning. He was yellow, like lightning. He looked like a flash of lightning. He was as swift as lightning.

उसे बिजली की चमक की तरह देखना मुश्किल था। वह बिजली की तरह पीला था। वह बिजली की चमक की तरह लग रहा था। वह बिजली की तरह तेज़ था।

बाहुस्वस्तिकविन्यस्तपीनह्रस्वशिरोधरम् स्कन्धभूयिष्ठकायत्वात्तनुमध्यकटीतटम्

His short and stout head rested on the crook of his arms. Because his shoulders were so large, the waist above his hips seemed to be slender.

उसका छोटा और मोटा सिर उसकी बांहों के मोड़ पर टिका हुआ था। क्योंकि उसके कंधे बहुत बड़े थे, उसके कूल्हों के ऊपर की कमर पतली लगती थी।

किंचिच्चाभुग्नशीर्षेण दीर्घरोमाञ्चितेन च लाङ्गूलेनोर्ध्वगतिना ध्वजेनेव विराजितम्

His tail was bent at the end and was covered with long hair. It was erect and dazzling, like a banner.

उसकी पूँछ सिरे पर मुड़ी हुई थी और लम्बे बालों से ढकी हुई थी। वह बैनर की तरह सीधा और चमकदार था।

रक्तोष्ठं ताम्रजिह्वास्यं रक्तकर्णं चलद्भ्रुवम् वदनं वृत्तदंष्ट्राग्रं रश्मिवन्तमिवोडुपम्

His lips were red and his tongue had the complexion of copper. His ears were red and his brows moved. His face was like the moon with its beams and the teeth were round and sharp.

उसके होंठ लाल थे और जीभ का रंग तांबे जैसा था। उसके कान लाल थे और भौंहें हिल रही थीं। उसका मुख चन्द्रमा की किरणों के समान था और दाँत गोल तथा नुकीले थे।

वदनाभ्यन्तरगतैः शुक्लभासैरलंकृतम् केसरोत्करसंमिश्रमशोकानामिवोत्करम्

The inside of the mouth was adorned with white and dazzling teeth. Above it, the extensive mane looked like a mās-s of aśoka flowers.

मुँह का भीतरी भाग सफ़ेद और चमकदार दाँतों से सुशोभित था। इसके ऊपर, विस्तृत जटा अशोक के पुष्पों के समूह के समान दिखाई देती थी।

हिरण्मयीनां मध्यस्थं कदलीनां महाद्युतिम् दीप्यमानं स्ववपुषा अर्चिष्मन्तमिवानलम्

The immensely radiant one was lying down in the midst of the golden plantain trees.

वह अत्यंत तेजस्वी सुनहरे केले के वृक्षों के बीच में लेटा हुआ था।

निरीक्षन्तमवित्रस्तं लोचनैर्मधुपिङ्गलैः तं वानरवरं वीरमतिकायं महाबलम्

His form was as resplendent as a blazing fire and he looked fearlessly with eyes that were as yellow as honey.

उनका रूप धधकती हुई अग्नि के समान देदीप्यमान था और शहद के समान पीली आँखों से वे निर्भयतापूर्वक देखते थे।

अथोपसृत्य तरसा भीमो भीमपराक्रमः सिंहनादं समकरोद्बोधयिष्यन्कपिं तदा

Bhīmā, terrible in prowess, swiftly approached that gigantic and supremely powerful one, supreme among monkeys.

भीम, भयानक पराक्रम, तेजी से उस विशाल और परम शक्तिशाली, वानरों में श्रेष्ठ, के पास पहुंचे।

तेन शब्देन भीमस्य वित्रेसुर्मृगपक्षिणः हनूमांश्च महासत्त्व ईषदुन्मील्य लोचने अवैक्षदथ सावज्ञं लोचनैर्मधुपिङ्गलैः

He roared like a lion, so that the monkey might be forewarned. At Bhīmā's roar, the animals and the birds were frightened. The immensely powerful Hanuman only opened his eyes a little. He looked at him contemptuously, through eyes that were yellow like honey.

वह शेर की तरह दहाड़ने लगा, ताकि बंदर को पहले ही सावधान कर दिया जाए। भीम की दहाड़ से पशु-पक्षी भयभीत हो गये। अत्यंत शक्तिशाली हनुमान ने केवल अपनी आँखें थोड़ी सी खोलीं। उसने उसे हिकारत से देखा, शहद जैसी पीली आँखों से।

स्मितेनाभाष्य कौन्तेयं वानरो नरमब्रवीत् किमर्थं सरुजस्तेऽहं सुखसुप्तः प्रबोधितः

Smiling, the monkey addressed the human Kaunteya. "I was ill and was happily asleep. Why did you wake me up?

मुस्कुराते हुए बंदर ने मानव कौन्तेय को संबोधित किया। "मैं बीमार था और सुख से सो रहा था। तुमने मुझे क्यों जगाया?"

ननु नाम त्वया कार्या दया भूतेषु जानता वयं धर्मं न जानीमस्तिर्यग्योनिं समाश्रिताः

Do you not know that it is your duty to show compassion towards all beings? Since we have been born from inferior wombs, we do not know what dharma is.

क्या आप नहीं जानते कि सभी प्राणियों के प्रति दया दिखाना आपका कर्तव्य है? चूँकि हम निम्न कोख से पैदा हुए हैं, इसलिए हम नहीं जानते कि धर्म क्या है।

मनुष्या बुद्धिसंपन्ना दयां कुर्वन्ति जन्तुषु क्रूरेषु कर्मसु कथं देहवाक्चित्तदूषिषु धर्मघातिषु सज्जन्ते बुद्धिमन्तो भवद्विधाः

But men have intelligence and should show compassion towards animals. Why do you commit cruel deeds that cause injury to the body, speech and heart? They are against dharma. You are blessed with intelligence.

लेकिन मनुष्य के पास बुद्धि है और उसे जानवरों के प्रति दया दिखानी चाहिए। तुम शरीर, वाणी और हृदय को कष्ट पहुँचाने वाले क्रूर कर्म क्यों करते हो? वे धर्म के विरुद्ध हैं. आप बुद्धि से संपन्न हैं.

न त्वं धर्मं विजानासि वृद्धा नोपासितास्त्वया अल्पबुद्धितया वन्यानुत्सादयसि यन्मृगान्

You do not know what dharma is. You have not served old ones. You have limited intelligence and in your childlishness, are injuring animals.

आप नहीं जानते कि धर्म क्या है. तुमने बूढ़ों की सेवा नहीं की है। आपकी बुद्धि सीमित है और आप बचकानेपन में जानवरों को घायल कर रहे हैं।

ब्रूहि कस्त्वं किमर्थं वा वनं त्वमिदमागतः वर्जितं मानुषैर्भावैस्तथैव पुरुषैरपि

Who are you? Tell me. Despite being a man, why have you come to this forest that is shunned by men?

आप कौन हैं? मुझे बताओ। तुम पुरुष होकर भी मनुष्यों से तिरस्कृत इस वन में क्यों आये हो?

अतः परमगम्योऽयं पर्वतः सुदुरारुहः विना सिद्धगतिं वीर गतिरत्र न विद्यते

From here onwards, the mountain is insurmountable and inaccessible, except by the siddha-s. O brave one! You cannot go there.

यहां से आगे, पर्वत दुर्गम और दुर्गम है, सिवाय सिद्धों के। हे वीर! आप वहां नहीं जा सकते.

कारुण्यात्सौहृदाच्चैव वारये त्वां महाबल नातः परं त्वया शक्यं गन्तुमाश्वसिहि प्रभो

O immensely powerful one! I am restraining you out of compassion and friendliness. O lord! You cannot go beyond this place.

हे अत्यंत शक्तिशाली! मैं करुणा और मित्रता के कारण तुम्हें रोक रहा हूं। हे भगवान! आप इस जगह से आगे नहीं जा सकते.

इमान्यमृतकल्पानि मूलानि च फलानि च भक्षयित्वा निवर्तस्व ग्राह्यं यदि वचो मम

If you accept my words, relax and eat these roots and fruit that taste like amṛtā. Then return."

यदि आप मेरी बातें स्वीकार करते हैं, तो निश्चिंत हो जाइए और इन जड़ों और फलों को खाइए जिनका स्वाद अमृत जैसा है। फिर लौट आना।”
