वैशंपायन उवाच निदाघान्तकरः कालः सर्वभूतसुखावहः तत्रैव वसतां तेषां प्रावृट्समभिपद्यत

Vaiśampāyana said: While they were living there, the rainy season, which brings an end to the summer's heat and ensures happiness to all beings, arrived.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: जब वे वहां रह रहे थे, तो वर्षा ऋतु आ गई, जो गर्मी की गर्मी को समाप्त करती है और सभी प्राणियों के लिए खुशी सुनिश्चित करती है।

छादयन्तो महाघोषाः खं दिशश्च बलाहकाः प्रववर्षुर्दिवारात्रमसिताः सततं तदा

Clouds heavy with thunder enveloped the sky and all the directions. Through night and day, it rained down continuously

गड़गड़ाहट के साथ भारी बादलों ने आकाश और सभी दिशाओं को घेर लिया। रात और दिन में लगातार बारिश होती रही

तपात्ययनिकेताश्च शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः अपेतार्कप्रभाजालाः सविद्युद्विमलप्रभाः

in hundreds and thousands of torrents, ending the heat. The net of the sun's rays disappeared and it was radiant with lightning.

सैकड़ों और हजारों मूसलाधार में, गर्मी समाप्त हो रही है। सूर्य की किरणों का जाल लुप्त हो गया और बिजली चमकने लगी।

विरूढशष्पा पृथिवी मत्तदंशसरीसृपा बभूव पयसा सिक्ता शान्तधूमरजोऽरुणा

Gras-s sprouted from the earth and flies and reptiles were intoxicated. Sprinkled with water, everything was peaceful and the smoke and the dust vanished.

पृथ्वी से घास उग आई और मक्खियाँ तथा सरीसृप नशे में धुत हो गए। पानी छिड़कने से सब कुछ शांत हो गया और धुआं और धूल गायब हो गए।

न स्म प्रज्ञायते किंचिदम्भसा समवस्तृते समं वा विषमं वापि नद्यो वा स्थावराणि वा

When everything was covered with water, nothing could be discerned, plain and uneven terrain or rivers and land.

जब सब कुछ पानी से ढका हुआ था, तो कुछ भी नहीं देखा जा सकता था, समतल और असमान भूभाग या नदियाँ और ज़मीन।

क्षुब्धतोया महाघोषाः श्वसमाना इवाशुगाः सिन्धवः शोभयां चक्रुः काननानि तपात्यये

The rivers were turbulent with water and made a loud whistling noise, like arrows. At the end of the summer, they made the groves look beautiful.

नदियाँ पानी से अशांत थीं और तीरों की तरह तेज़ सीटी की आवाज़ कर रही थीं। गर्मियों के अंत में, उन्होंने उपवनों को सुंदर बना दिया।

नदतां काननान्तेषु श्रूयन्ते विविधाः स्वनाः वृष्टिभिस्ताड्यमानानां वराहमृगपक्षिणाम्

Many different sounds could be heard in the groves—of boars, animals and birds, drenched with rain.

उपवनों में बारिश से भीगे हुए सूअरों, जानवरों और पक्षियों की कई अलग-अलग आवाज़ें सुनी जा सकती थीं।

स्तोककाः शिखिनश्चैव पुंस्कोकिलगणैः सह मत्ताः परिपतन्ति स्म दर्दुराश्चैव दर्पिताः

Stokaka-s, peacocks and male cuckoos were maddened and fluttered around, together with proud frogs.

स्टोकका-एस, मोर और नर कोयल गर्वित मेंढकों के साथ उन्मत्त हो गए और इधर-उधर फड़फड़ाने लगे।

तथा बहुविधाकारा प्रावृण्मेघानुनादिता अभ्यतीता शिवा तेषां चरतां मरुधन्वसु

Thus, while they safely roamed around in the desert regions, the rainy season arrived in many forms and the roar of the clouds passed.

इस प्रकार जब वे सुरक्षित रूप से रेगिस्तानी इलाकों में घूमते रहे, तो कई रूपों में वर्षा ऋतु आ गई और बादलों की गड़गड़ाहट बीत गई।

क्रौञ्चहंसगणाकीर्णा शरत्प्रणिहिताभवत् रूढकक्षवनप्रस्था प्रसन्नजलनिम्नगा

Autumn arrived, with masses of curlews and swans. The forest was covered with new enclosures. The water that flowed downwards became clear.

घुंघराले पक्षियों और हंसों की भीड़ के साथ शरद ऋतु का आगमन हुआ। जंगल नये बाड़ों से आच्छादित था। नीचे की ओर बहने वाला पानी साफ़ हो गया।

विमलाकाशनक्षत्रा शरत्तेषां शिवाभवत् मृगद्विजसमाकीर्णा पाण्डवानां महात्मनाम्

Everything was peaceful in autumn and the great-souled Pāṇḍava-s found it infested with animals and birds. The sky and the stars were clear.

शरद ऋतु में सब कुछ शांतिपूर्ण था और महात्मा पांडवों ने इसे जानवरों और पक्षियों से भरा हुआ पाया। आकाश और तारे साफ़ थे।

पश्यन्तः शान्तरजसः क्षपा जलदशीतलाः ग्रहनक्षत्रसंघैश्च सोमेन च विराजिताः

They saw that the nights were cooled by clouds, with the dust pacified, and shining with planets, many stars and the moon.

उन्होंने देखा कि रातें बादलों से ठंडी हो गई थीं, धूल शांत हो गई थी, और ग्रहों, कई सितारों और चंद्रमा से चमक रही थी।

कुमुदैः पुण्डरीकैश्च शीतवारिधराः शिवाः नदीः पुष्करिणीश्चैव ददृशुः समलंकृताः

They saw auspicious rivers and ponds, the bearers of cool water, adorned with white water lilies and white lotuses.

उन्होंने शुभ नदियों और तालाबों को देखा, जो ठंडे पानी के वाहक थे, जो सफेद कुमुदिनी और सफेद कमलों से सुशोभित थे।

आकाशनीकाशतटां नीपनीवारसंकुलाम् बभूव चरतां हर्षः पुण्यतीर्थां सरस्वतीम्

They found great delight in roaming around the sacred tīrtha of Sarasvatī. Its banks were as wide as the sky and were covered with nīpa-s and wild rice.

उन्हें सरस्वती के पवित्र तीर्थ में घूमने में बहुत आनंद आया। इसके किनारे आकाश के समान चौड़े थे और निपा-एस तथा जंगली चावल से ढके हुए थे।

ते वै मुमुदिरे वीराः प्रसन्नसलिलां शिवाम् पश्यन्तो दृढधन्वानः परिपूर्णां सरस्वतीम्

The brave ones, the wielders of firm bows, were extremely happy on seeing the sacred Sarasvatī, overflowing with clear water.

दृढ़ धनुष धारक शूरवीर स्वच्छ जल से भरी हुई पवित्र सरस्वती को देखकर अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए।

तेषां पुण्यतमा रात्रिः पर्वसंधौ स्म शारदी तत्रैव वसतामासीत्कार्त्तिकी जनमेजय

O Janamejaya! While they dwelt there, the sacred night of parvasandhi in autumn, in the month of Kartika, arrived.

हे जनमेजय! जब वे वहां निवास कर रहे थे, कार्तिक महीने में, शरद ऋतु में पर्वसंधि की पवित्र रात आ गई।

पुण्यकृद्भिर्महासत्त्वैस्तापसैः सह पाण्डवाः तत्सर्वं भरतश्रेष्ठाः समूहुर्योगमुत्तमम्

All the Pāṇḍava-s, the best of the Bhārata lineage, spent that great and supreme conjunction in the company of the holy and great-souled ascetics.

भरत वंश के सर्वश्रेष्ठ सभी पांडवों ने उस महान और सर्वोच्च संयोग को पवित्र और महान आत्मा वाले तपस्वियों की संगति में बिताया।

तमिस्राभ्युदये तस्मिन्धौम्येन सह पाण्डवाः सूतैः पौरोगवैश्चैव काम्यकं प्रययुर्वनम्

When the dark fortnight set in, the Pāṇḍava-s, together with Dhaumya, the charioteers and the cooks, travelled to Kāmyaka.

जब अंधकार पखवाड़ा शुरू हुआ, तो पांडवों ने धौम्य, सारथियों और रसोइयों के साथ काम्यक की यात्रा की।
