मार्कण्डेय उवाच एवं तु सूक्ष्मे कथिते धर्मव्याधेन भारत ब्राह्मणः स पुनः सूक्ष्मं पप्रच्छ सुसमाहितः

Mārkaṇḍeya said: "O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! The hunter who knew about dharma explained these subtle matters. Extremely attentively, the brāhmaṇa again asked him about a subtle matter.

मार्कण्डेय ने कहा: "हे भरत वंश के वंशज! धर्म के बारे में जानने वाले शिकारी ने इन सूक्ष्म मामलों को समझाया। बहुत ध्यान से, ब्राह्मण ने फिर से उससे एक सूक्ष्म मामले के बारे में पूछा।

ब्राह्मण उवाच सत्त्वस्य रजसश्चैव तमसश्च यथातथम् गुणांस्तत्त्वेन मे ब्रूहि यथावदिह पृच्छतः

The brāhmaṇa said: "Now tell me exactly about the qualities of sattva, raja-s and tāma-s. I am asking you, tell me exactly about their characteristics."

ब्राह्मण ने कहा: "अब मुझे सत्व, रज-स और तम-स के गुणों के बारे में ठीक-ठीक बताओ। मैं तुमसे पूछ रहा हूँ, मुझे उनकी विशेषताओं के बारे में ठीक-ठीक बताओ।"

The hunter replied: "Yes, I will tell you what you have asked me. Because you have asked, I will tell you exactly about the characteristics of these qualities.

शिकारी ने उत्तर दिया, "हां, तुमने जो मुझसे पूछा है, वह मैं तुम्हें बताऊंगा। क्योंकि तुमने पूछा है, इसलिए मैं तुम्हें इन गुणों की विशेषताओं के बारे में ठीक-ठीक बताऊंगा।"

मोहात्मकं तमस्तेषां रज एषां प्रवर्तकम् प्रकाशबहुलत्वाच्च सत्त्वं ज्याय इहोच्यते

Tāma-s is characterized by ignorance, while raja-s motivates to action. It is said that sattva is the greatest because of its immense powers of illumination.

तम-स अज्ञानता की विशेषता है, जबकि रज-स कर्म करने के लिए प्रेरित करता है। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि सत्त्व अपनी प्रकाश की अपार शक्तियों के कारण सबसे महान है।

अविद्याबहुलो मूढः स्वप्नशीलो विचेतनः दुर्दृशीकस्तमोध्वस्तः सक्रोधस्तामसोऽलसः

One who is extremely ignorant, foolish, prone to dreaming, insensible, ugly, dark, prone to anger and lazy, is under the influence of tāma-s.

जो अत्यंत अज्ञानी, मूर्ख, स्वप्न देखने में प्रवृत्त, असंवेदनशील, कुरूप, अंधकारमय, क्रोध प्रवृत्त और आलसी है, वह तम-स के प्रभाव में है।

प्रवृत्तवाक्यो मन्त्री च योऽनुराग्यभ्यसूयकः विवित्समानो विप्रर्षे स्तब्धो मानी स राजसः

O brāhmaṇa riṣi! An excellent man who is ready in action and speech, affectionate, without enmity, industrious, steady and proud is under the influence of raja-s.

हे ब्राह्मण ऋषि! जो श्रेष्ठ पुरुष कर्म और वाणी में तत्पर, स्नेही, शत्रुरहित, परिश्रमी, स्थिर और स्वाभिमानी होता है, वह राजस के प्रभाव में रहता है।

प्रकाशबहुलो धीरो निर्विवित्सोऽनसूयकः अक्रोधनो नरो धीमान्दान्तश्चैव स सात्त्विकः

A man with illumination, persevering, without attachment and without enmity, without anger, wise and self-controlled, is under the influence of sattva.

जो व्यक्ति प्रबुद्ध, धैर्यवान, आसक्ति और शत्रुता से रहित, क्रोध से रहित, बुद्धिमान और संयमी होता है, वह सत्व के प्रभाव में होता है।

सात्त्विकस्त्वथ संबुद्धो लोकवृत्तेन क्लिश्यते यदा बुध्यति बोद्धव्यं लोकवृत्तं जुगुप्सते

When one with the illumination of sattva suffers from the difficulties of the world, when one has learnt everything that has to be learnt, one hates the ways of the world.

जब सत्त्व के प्रकाश से युक्त कोई व्यक्ति संसार की कठिनाइयों से पीड़ित होता है, जब वह वह सब कुछ सीख लेता है जो सीखना चाहिए, तो वह संसार के तौर-तरीकों से घृणा करता है।

वैराग्यस्य हि रूपं तु पूर्वमेव प्रवर्तते मृदुर्भवत्यहंकारः प्रसीदत्यार्जवं च यत्

Then a form of detachment makes itself felt. Pride becomes milder and uprightness becomes stronger.

तब वैराग्य का एक रूप स्वयं प्रकट होता है। अभिमान हल्का हो जाता है और ईमानदारी मजबूत हो जाती है।

ततोऽस्य सर्वद्वंद्वानि प्रशाम्यन्ति परस्परम् न चास्य संयमो नाम क्वचिद्भवति कश्चन

Then all the conflicts are pacified. Any restraint in anything then becomes unnecessary.

तब सारे झगड़े शांत हो जाते हैं। फिर किसी भी चीज़ में कोई भी रोक-टोक अनावश्यक हो जाती है।

शूद्रयोनौ हि जातस्य सद्गुणानुपतिष्ठतः वैश्यत्वं भवति ब्रह्मन्क्षत्रियत्वं तथैव च

O brāhmaṇa! One may be born as a śūdra. But if he is established in his good qualities, he will become a vaiśya, and even a kṣatriya or a brāhmaṇa.

हे ब्राह्मण! कोई शूद्र के रूप में जन्म ले सकता है। लेकिन यदि वह अपने अच्छे गुणों में स्थापित हो जाए, तो वह वैश्य बन जाएगा, यहाँ तक कि क्षत्रिय या ब्राह्मण भी।

आर्जवे वर्तमानस्य ब्राह्मण्यमभिजायते गुणास्ते कीर्तिताः सर्वे किं भूयः श्रोतुमिच्छसि

Similarly, one who follows worthy conduct can become a brāhmaṇa. Thus, I have told you everything about the qualities. What else do you wish to hear?"

इसी प्रकार, जो योग्य आचरण का पालन करता है वह ब्राह्मण बन सकता है। इस प्रकार गुणों के विषय में मैंने तुम्हें सब कुछ बता दिया। आप और क्या सुनना चाहते हैं?"

The brāhmaṇa asked: "What happens to the fire in the body when it is combined with the elements of the earth? Depending on where it is, how does the wind motivate?"

ब्राह्मण ने पूछा: "जब शरीर में अग्नि पृथ्वी के तत्वों के साथ मिल जाती है तो उसका क्या होता है? यह इस बात पर निर्भर करता है कि वह कहां है, हवा कैसे प्रेरित करती है?"

मार्कण्डेय उवाच प्रश्नमेतं समुद्दिष्टं ब्राह्मणेन युधिष्ठिर व्याधः स कथयामास ब्राह्मणाय महात्मने

Mārkaṇḍeya said: "O Yudhiṣṭhira! When the brāhmaṇa addressed this question to the hunter, the hunter replied to the great-souled brāhmaṇa."

मार्कण्डेय ने कहा: "हे युधिष्ठिर! जब ब्राह्मण ने शिकारी से यह प्रश्न पूछा, तो शिकारी ने महान आत्मा वाले ब्राह्मण को उत्तर दिया।"

व्याध उवाच मूर्धानमाश्रितो वह्निः शरीरं परिपालयन् प्राणो मूर्धनि चाग्नौ च वर्तमानो विचेष्टते भूतं भव्यं भविष्यच्च सर्वं प्राणे प्रतिष्ठितम्

The hunter answered: "The fire resides in the head and protects the body. The fire is in the head and in prāṇa and motivates all action. Everything in the past, the present and the future is based on prāṇa.

शिकारी ने उत्तर दिया: "अग्नि सिर में रहती है और शरीर की रक्षा करती है। अग्नि सिर और प्राण में है और सभी कार्यों को प्रेरित करती है। अतीत, वर्तमान और भविष्य में सब कुछ प्राण पर आधारित है।

It is the best that exists in beings and we worship this radiance of the brāhman. It is the life force of all beings. It is the eternal being. It is the mind. It is intelligence. It is the ego. It is the seat of all beings.

यह सर्वोत्तम है जो प्राणियों में मौजूद है और हम ब्राह्मण की इस चमक की पूजा करते हैं। यह सभी प्राणियों की जीवन शक्ति है। यह शाश्वत अस्तित्व है. यह मन है. यह बुद्धिमत्ता है. यह अहंकार है. यह सभी प्राणियों का निवास स्थान है।

एवं त्विह स सर्वत्र प्राणेन परिपाल्यते पृष्ठतस्तु समानेन स्वां स्वां गतिमुपाश्रितः

While residing in this way, everything is protected through prāṇa. Later it goes in different directions, supported by samāṇa.

इस प्रकार रहते हुए, प्राण के माध्यम से सब कुछ सुरक्षित रहता है। बाद में यह समाना द्वारा समर्थित विभिन्न दिशाओं में चला जाता है।

बस्तिमूले गुदे चैव पावकः समुपाश्रितः वहन्मूत्रं पुरीषं चाप्यपानः परिवर्तते

There is a fire in the bladder and the aṇu-s and this is known as apāna. It bears the excrement and urine.

मूत्राशय और गुदा में अग्नि होती है और इसे अपान कहते हैं। यह मल-मूत्र को सहन करता है।

प्रयत्ने कर्मणि बले य एकस्त्रिषु वर्तते उदान इति तं प्राहुरध्यात्मविदुषो जनाः

It has the three elements of endeavour, action and power and ones who are knowledgeable about the body know this by the name of udāna.

इसमें प्रयास, क्रिया और शक्ति तीन तत्व हैं और जो लोग शरीर के बारे में जानते हैं वे इसे उदान के नाम से जानते हैं।

संधौ संधौ संनिविष्टः सर्वेष्वपि तथानिलः शरीरेषु मनुष्याणां व्यान इत्युपदिष्यते

When the fire is present in all the joints of the human body, it is known by the name of vyāna.

जब मनुष्य के शरीर के सभी जोड़ों में अग्नि विद्यमान होती है, तो उसे व्यान के नाम से जाना जाता है।

धातुष्वग्निस्तु विततः स तु वायुसमीरितः रसान्धातूंश्च दोषांश्च वर्तयन्परिधावति

The internal heat is distributed and supported by these different winds and they transform the juices, the constituents and the humours.

आंतरिक गर्मी इन विभिन्न हवाओं द्वारा वितरित और समर्थित होती है और वे रस, घटकों और हास्य को बदल देती हैं।

प्राणानां संनिपातात्तु संनिपातः प्रजायते ऊष्मा चाग्निरिति ज्ञेयो योऽन्नं पचति देहिनाम्

Through the combination of prāṇa and the other winds, a reaction is created. This gives rise to an internal heat in the body and facilitates digestion.

प्राण और अन्य पवनों के संयोग से एक प्रतिक्रिया उत्पन्न होती है। इससे शरीर में आंतरिक गर्मी पैदा होती है और पाचन में आसानी होती है।

अपानोदानयोर्मध्ये प्राणव्यानौ समाहितौ समन्वितस्त्वधिष्ठानं सम्यक्पचति पावकः

Prāṇa and vyāna are established between apāna and udāna. The fire generated from this mingling facilitates digestion.

अपान और उदान के बीच प्राण और व्यान स्थापित होते हैं। इस मिश्रण से उत्पन्न अग्नि पाचन को सुगम बनाती है।

तस्यापि पायुपर्यन्तस्तथा स्याद्गुदसंज्ञितः स्रोतांसि तस्माज्जायन्ते सर्वप्राणेषु देहिनाम्

This extends up to the aṇu-s and is near the aṇu-s. The streams created from this are all the prāṇa-s in a body.

यह अनु-स तक फैला हुआ है और अनु-स के पास है। इससे निर्मित धाराएँ एक शरीर में सभी प्राण हैं।

अग्निवेगवहः प्राणो गुदान्ते प्रतिहन्यते स ऊर्ध्वमागम्य पुनः समुत्क्षिपति पावकम्

Through the force of the fire, prāṇa strikes at the root of the aṇu-s and recoiling, the fire ascends upwards again.

अग्नि की शक्ति के माध्यम से, प्राण अनु-स की जड़ पर प्रहार करता है और पीछे हटते हुए, अग्नि फिर से ऊपर की ओर चढ़ती है।

The area above the navel is the region of undigested food. All the prāṇa-s are located at the centre of the navel in the body.

प्रवृत्ता हृदयात्सर्वास्तिर्यगूर्ध्वमधस्तथा वहन्त्यन्नरसान्नाड्यो दश प्राणप्रचोदिताः

Ten arteries radiate from the heart, upwards, downwards and sideways, and driven by the prāṇa-s, bear the essence of food.

दस धमनियाँ हृदय से ऊपर, नीचे और बगल में फैलती हैं, और प्राणों द्वारा संचालित होकर भोजन का सार धारण करती हैं।

योगिनामेष मार्गस्तु येन गच्छन्ति तत्परम् जितक्लमासना धीरा मूर्धन्यात्मानमादधुः एवं सर्वेषु विततौ प्राणापानौ हि देहिषु

This is the path that practitioners of yoga traverse for the supreme objective. They are seated, having conquered difficulties. They are patient and their souls reside in their heads. In this way, prāṇa and apāna are established in all beings.

यह वह मार्ग है जिस पर योग के अभ्यासी सर्वोच्च उद्देश्य के लिए चलते हैं। वे कठिनाइयों पर विजय प्राप्त करके बैठे हैं। वे धैर्यवान हैं और उनकी आत्मा उनके सिर में बसती है। इस प्रकार प्राण और अपान सभी प्राणियों में स्थित हैं।

एकादशविकारात्मा कलासंभारसंभृतः मूर्तिमन्तं हि तं विद्धि नित्यं कर्मजितात्मकम्

The different components of a body go through eleven transformations. Know that though a being is always embodied, it is subject to its earlier deeds.

शरीर के विभिन्न घटक ग्यारह परिवर्तनों से गुजरते हैं। जान लें कि यद्यपि कोई प्राणी हमेशा देहधारी होता है, वह अपने पिछले कर्मों के अधीन होता है।

तस्मिन्यः संस्थितो ह्यग्निर्नित्यं स्थाल्यामिवाहितः आत्मानं तं विजानीहि नित्यं योगजितात्मकम्

Know that the fire that is always inside is like the fire purified in a pan and is the ātman. It is always subject to yoga.

जान लें कि जो अग्नि हमेशा अंदर रहती है वह कड़ाही में शुद्ध की गई अग्नि की तरह है और आत्मा है। यह सदैव योग के अधीन रहता है।

देवो यः संस्थितस्तस्मिन्नब्बिन्दुरिव पुष्करे क्षेत्रज्ञं तं विजानीहि नित्यं त्यागजितात्मकम्

Know that the god is inside it, like a drop inside a lotus. Know that he is always the kṣetrajña and can be known through yoga.

यह जान लो कि इसके अंदर भगवान ऐसे हैं, जैसे कमल के अंदर बूंद। जान लें कि वह सदैव क्षेत्रज्ञ है और उसे योग के माध्यम से जाना जा सकता है।

जीवात्मकानि जानीहि रजः सत्त्वं तमस्तथा जीवमात्मगुणं विद्धि तथात्मानं परात्मकम्

Know that sattva, raja-s and tāma-s are the attributes of life. Know that these qualities are an attribute of life and that the ātman is in the paramātman.

जान लें कि सत्व, रज-स और तम-स जीवन के गुण हैं। जान लें कि ये गुण जीवन का गुण हैं और आत्मा, परमात्मा में है।

सचेतनं जीवगुणं वदन्ति; स चेष्टते चेष्टयते च सर्वम् ततः परं क्षेत्रविदो वदन्ति; प्राकल्पयद्यो भुवनानि सप्त

It is said that consciousness is the quality of life. It is the actor, and action marks everything. Those who know about the kṣetra say that the supreme one created the seven worlds.

कहा जाता है कि चेतना ही जीवन का गुण है। यह अभिनेता है, और एक्शन ही सबकुछ दर्शाता है। जो लोग क्षेत्र के बारे में जानते हैं वे कहते हैं कि सर्वोच्च ने सात लोकों की रचना की।

एवं सर्वेषु भूतेषु भूतात्मा न प्रकाशते दृश्यते त्वग्र्यया बुद्ध्या सूक्ष्मया ज्ञानवेदिभिः

In this way, the eternal being is not manifest in all beings. It can be seen by those who are learned and possess the subtle knowledge of insight.

इस प्रकार शाश्वत सत्ता सभी प्राणियों में प्रकट नहीं होती। इसे वे लोग देख सकते हैं जो विद्वान हैं और जिनके पास अंतर्दृष्टि का सूक्ष्म ज्ञान है।

चित्तस्य हि प्रसादेन हन्ति कर्म शुभाशुभम् प्रसन्नात्मात्मनि स्थित्वा सुखमानन्त्यमश्नुते

One can purify one's heart and destroy the fruits of good and evil deeds. Through establishing one's soul in serenity, one can attain infinite bliss.

व्यक्ति अपने हृदय को शुद्ध कर सकता है और अच्छे तथा बुरे कर्मों के फल को नष्ट कर सकता है। अपनी आत्मा को शांति में स्थापित करके व्यक्ति अनंत आनंद प्राप्त कर सकता है।

लक्षणं तु प्रसादस्य यथा तृप्तः सुखं स्वपेत् निवाते वा यथा दीपो दीप्येत्कुशलदीपितः

The signs of serenity are that one sleeps happily and contentedly, like the radiance of a lamp that has been trimmed by one who is skilled in handling lamps.

शांति के लक्षण यह हैं कि व्यक्ति खुशी और संतुष्टि से सोता है, जैसे दीपक की चमक, जिसे दीपक संभालने में कुशल व्यक्ति द्वारा कम कर दिया गया हो।

पूर्वरात्रे परे चैव युञ्जानः सततं मनः लघ्वाहारो विशुद्धात्मा पश्यन्नात्मानमात्मनि

One should control one's mind, late in the evening and at night. After eating lightly, with a purified soul, one sees the supreme soul in one's own self.

देर शाम और रात को अपने मन पर नियंत्रण रखना चाहिए। हल्का-फुल्का भोजन करने के बाद शुद्ध आत्मा से व्यक्ति अपने में ही परमात्मा का दर्शन करता है।

प्रदीप्तेनेव दीपेन मनोदीपेन पश्यति दृष्ट्वात्मानं निरात्मानं तदा स तु विमुच्यते

This is like seeing the light of a lamp with the lamp of one's mind. One who sees the supreme soul, beyond the human soul, such a person is liberated.

यह अपने मन के दीपक से दीपक की रोशनी देखने जैसा है। जो मनुष्य आत्मा से परे परमात्मा को देखता है, ऐसा व्यक्ति मुक्त हो जाता है।

सर्वोपायैस्तु लोभस्य क्रोधस्य च विनिग्रहः एतत्पवित्रं यज्ञानां तपो वै संक्रमो मतः

Avarice and anger must be controlled through all means. This is the purifying ritual for austerities and is the means of crossing over.

लोभ और क्रोध को सभी तरीकों से नियंत्रित किया जाना चाहिए। यह तपस्या के लिए शुद्धिकरण अनुष्ठान है और पारगमन का साधन है।

नित्यं क्रोधात्तपो रक्षेच्छ्रियं रक्षेत मत्सरात् विद्यां मानापमानाभ्यामात्मानं तु प्रमादतः

One must always protect austerities from anger. One must protect one's riches from envy, one's learning from vanity and insults and one's soul from distraction.

क्रोध से सदैव तप की रक्षा करनी चाहिए। व्यक्ति को अपने धन को ईर्ष्या से, अपनी शिक्षा को घमंड और अपमान से और अपनी आत्मा को व्याकुलता से बचाना चाहिए।

आनृशंस्यं परो धर्मः क्षमा च परमं बलम् आत्मज्ञानं परं ज्ञानं परं सत्यव्रतं व्रतम्

Mildness is the greatest dharma. Forgiveness is the greatest strength. Knowledge of the self is the supreme knowledge. Truthfulness is the supreme vow.

सौम्यता सबसे बड़ा धर्म है. क्षमा सबसे बड़ी ताकत है. स्वयं का ज्ञान ही सर्वोच्च ज्ञान है। सत्यता ही सर्वोच्च व्रत है।

सत्यस्य वचनं श्रेयः सत्यं ज्ञानं हितं भवेत् यद्भूतहितमत्यन्तं तद्वै सत्यं परं मतम्

True speech is superior. The knowledge of truth ensures welfare. But the welfare of all beings is known as the supreme truth.

सच्ची वाणी श्रेष्ठ होती है. सत्य का ज्ञान कल्याण सुनिश्चित करता है। लेकिन सभी प्राणियों के कल्याण को सर्वोच्च सत्य के रूप में जाना जाता है।

Aranyakaparvan · v43

यस्य सर्वे समारम्भाः निराशीर्बन्धनाः सदा त्यागे यस्य हुतं सर्वं स त्यागी स च बुद्धिमान्

One whose acts are always performed without being tied down by self-interest, one who has sacrificed everything, is wise and is one who has renounced.

जिसके कर्म सदैव स्वार्थ से बंधे बिना किए जाते हैं, जिसने सब कुछ त्याग दिया है, वह बुद्धिमान है और जिसने त्याग कर दिया है।

यतो न गुरुरप्येनं च्यावयेदुपपादयन् तं विद्याद्ब्रह्मणो योगं वियोगं योगसंज्ञितम्

This is yoga with the brāhman, something that cannot be taught or disturbed by a preceptor. This renunciation is known as yoga.

यह ब्राह्मण के साथ योग है, कुछ ऐसा जिसे किसी गुरु द्वारा सिखाया या परेशान नहीं किया जा सकता है। इस त्याग को योग के नाम से जाना जाता है।

न हिंस्यात्सर्वभूतानि मैत्रायणगतश्चरेत् नेदं जीवितमासाद्य वैरं कुर्वीत केनचित्

There must not be violence to any being. One must traverse the path of friendliness. In this present life, one must never practise enmity.

किसी भी प्राणी पर हिंसा नहीं होनी चाहिए. व्यक्ति को मित्रता का मार्ग अपनाना चाहिए। इस वर्तमान जीवन में व्यक्ति को कभी भी शत्रुता नहीं करनी चाहिए।

आकिंचन्यं सुसंतोषो निराशित्वमचापलम् एतदेव परं ज्ञानं सदात्मज्ञानमुत्तमम्

Self-negation, extreme satisfaction, selflessness and steadfastness lead to the supreme knowledge. The knowledge of the self is the supreme learning.

आत्म-निषेध, अत्यधिक संतुष्टि, निःस्वार्थता और दृढ़ता सर्वोच्च ज्ञान की ओर ले जाती है। स्वयं का ज्ञान ही सर्वोच्च विद्या है।

परिग्रहं परित्यज्य भव बुद्ध्या यतव्रतः अशोकं स्थानमातिष्ठेन्निश्चलं प्रेत्य चेह च

One should give up one's possessions. One should use one's intelligence to be steady in one's vows. One then attains a firm place that is without sorrow, in this world and the next.

व्यक्ति को अपनी संपत्ति का त्याग कर देना चाहिए. मनुष्य को अपने व्रत पर स्थिर रहने के लिए अपनी बुद्धि का उपयोग करना चाहिए। तब व्यक्ति इस लोक और परलोक में एक दृढ़ स्थान प्राप्त करता है जो दुःख से रहित है।

तपोनित्येन दान्तेन मुनिना संयतात्मना अजितं जेतुकामेन भाव्यं सङ्गेष्वसङ्गिना

The self-controlled sage who has restrained his mind, and is always engaged in austerities, will be unvanquished if he gives up the desire to win and becomes detached from attachments.

आत्म-नियंत्रित ऋषि जिसने अपने मन को नियंत्रित कर लिया है, और हमेशा तपस्या में लगा रहता है, अगर वह जीतने की इच्छा छोड़ देता है और आसक्ति से अलग हो जाता है, तो वह अजेय रहेगा।

गुणागुणमनासङ्गमेककार्यमनन्तरम् एतद्ब्राह्मण ते वृत्तमाहुरेकपदं सुखम्

Those that are regarded as qualities are no longer qualities in him. He then continuously embarks on a single task.

जिन्हें गुण माना जाता है, वे अब उनमें गुण नहीं रहे। फिर वह लगातार एक ही कार्य में लग जाता है।

परित्यजति यो दुःखं सुखं चाप्युभयं नरः ब्रह्म प्राप्नोति सोऽत्यन्तमसङ्गेन च गच्छति

O brāhmaṇa! He is only engaged in the task of achieving supreme bliss. Such a man renounces both happiness and unhappiness. He transcends all attachment and achieves the brāhman.

हे ब्राह्मण! वह केवल परम आनंद प्राप्त करने के कार्य में लगा हुआ है। ऐसा मनुष्य सुख और दुःख दोनों का त्याग कर देता है। वह सभी आसक्ति को पार कर जाता है और ब्रह्म को प्राप्त कर लेता है।

यथाश्रुतमिदं सर्वं समासेन द्विजोत्तम एतत्ते सर्वमाख्यातं किं भूयः श्रोतुमिच्छसि

O supreme among brāhmana-s! I have briefly told you everything that I have heard, exactly as I have heard it. What else do you desire to hear?"

हे ब्राह्मणों में श्रेष्ठ! जो कुछ मैंने सुना है, वह सब मैंने तुम्हें संक्षेप में वैसे ही बता दिया है, जैसा मैंने सुना था। आप और क्या सुनना चाहते हैं?"
