Sañjaya said: "O Pāṇḍava! You have described what you are capable of. O foremost among the Kuru lineage! You have asked about the Kuru-s and the people. O father! O Pārtha! Those intelligent ones, the best of the Kuru-s that you have asked about, are well.
संजय ने कहा: "हे पांडव! आपने वर्णन किया है कि आप क्या करने में सक्षम हैं। हे कुरु वंश में अग्रणी! आपने कुरु-वंश और लोगों के बारे में पूछा है। हे पिता! हे पार्थ! जिन बुद्धिमान लोगों, सर्वश्रेष्ठ कुरु-जनों के बारे में आपने पूछा है, वे अच्छे हैं।
O Pāṇḍava! Know that there are aged and virtuous men around Dhritrashtra's son, but there are evil ones too. Dhṛtarāṣṭra's son has given to enemies. Why should he then take away the shares of brāhmana-s?
हे पाण्डव! जान लें कि धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र के आसपास वृद्ध और गुणी पुरुष तो हैं ही, दुष्ट भी हैं। धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र ने शत्रुओं को दे दिया है। फिर उसे ब्राह्मणों का हिस्सा क्यों छीनना चाहिए?

यद्युष्माकं वर्ततेऽसौ न धर्म्य;मद्रुग्धेषु द्रुग्धवत्तन्न साधु
मित्रध्रुक्स्याद्धृतराष्ट्रः सपुत्रो; युष्मान्द्विषन्साधुवृत्तानसाधुः
If he follows adharma in his behaviour towards you, like injuring those who do not injure you, that would not be right. If Dhṛtarāṣṭra, together with his sons, hates those who like you are righteous, that would not be right and would be like injuring one's friends.
यदि वह आपके प्रति अपने व्यवहार में अधर्म का पालन करता है, जैसे उन लोगों को चोट पहुँचाना जो आपको चोट नहीं पहुँचाते, तो यह सही नहीं होगा। यदि धृतराष्ट्र अपने पुत्रों के साथ मिलकर उन लोगों से घृणा करते हैं जो आप जैसे धर्मात्मा हैं, तो यह सही नहीं होगा और यह किसी के दोस्तों को चोट पहुंचाने जैसा होगा।

न चानुजानाति भृशं च तप्यते; शोचत्यन्तः स्थविरोऽजातशत्रो
शृणोति हि ब्राह्मणानां समेत्य; मित्रद्रोहः पातकेभ्यो गरीयान्
He does not approve of this and is extremely tormented. O Ajātaśatru! The aged one is sorrowing. Having consulted with brāhmana-s, he has heard that hating one's friends is the most grievous of sins.
उसे यह मंजूर नहीं है और वह बेहद परेशान है। हे अजातशत्रु! वृद्ध दुःखी है। उसने ब्राह्मणों से परामर्श करके सुना है कि अपने मित्रों से घृणा करना सबसे बड़ा पाप है।
O god among men! They remember you in their assemblies and Jiṣṇu, the foremost among warriors, in battles. When there is the sound of drums and conch shells, they remember Bhīmasena, who wields the club in his hand.
हे मनुष्यों में ईश्वर! वे अपनी सभाओं में तुम्हें और युद्धों में योद्धाओं में अग्रणी जिष्णु को याद करते हैं। जब ढोल और शंख की आवाज आती है, तो वे हाथ में गदा लिए हुए भीमसेन को याद करते हैं।
In the midst of battle, they remember Mādrī's two sons, who advanced in all the directions, continuously showering arrows on soldiers. Those mahāratha-s were never perturbed in battle.
युद्ध के बीच में, वे माद्री के दो पुत्रों को याद करते हैं, जो सभी दिशाओं में आगे बढ़ते थे, लगातार सैनिकों पर तीर बरसाते थे। वे महारथी युद्ध में कभी विचलित नहीं होते थे।
O king! I think that no one knows the destiny that will befall a man. O Pāṇḍava! You have all the qualities of dharma, yet you have had to confront difficulties in the form of hardships.
हे राजा! मुझे लगता है कि कोई नहीं जानता कि इंसान का क्या भाग्य होगा। हे पाण्डव! आपमें धर्म के सभी गुण हैं, फिर भी आपको कठिनाइयों के रूप में कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ा है।

त्वमेवैतत्सर्वमतश्च भूयः; समीकुर्याः प्रज्ञयाजातशत्रो
न कामार्थं संत्यजेयुर्हि धर्मं; पाण्डोः सुताः सर्व एवेन्द्रकल्पाः
O Ajātaśatru! You have been able to overcome your hardships, and even greater ones, because of your wisdom. All the sons of Pāṇḍu are like the equals of Indra and will not deviate from dharma for the sake of desire.
हे अजातशत्रु! आप अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता के कारण अपनी कठिनाइयों और उससे भी बड़ी कठिनाइयों पर विजय पाने में सक्षम हुए हैं। पांडु के सभी पुत्र इंद्र के समान हैं और इच्छा के लिए धर्म से विचलित नहीं होंगे।
O Ajātaśatru! With the aid of your wisdom, you will be able to bring about the peace that will protect the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, the Pāṇḍava-s, the Sṛñjaya-s and all the other kings who have gathered.
हे अजातशत्रु! अपनी बुद्धि की सहायता से, आप शांति लाने में सक्षम होंगे जो धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों, पांडवों, सृंजय और इकट्ठे हुए अन्य सभी राजाओं की रक्षा करेगी।

सहामात्यः सहपुत्रश्च राज;न्समेत्य तां वाचमिमां निबोध
O Ajātaśatru! O king! Listen to the words your father Dhṛtarāṣṭra told me in the night, when his advisers and his sons had gathered."
हे अजातशत्रु! हे राजा! उन शब्दों को सुनो जो तुम्हारे पिता धृतराष्ट्र ने रात में मुझसे कहे थे, जब उनके सलाहकार और उनके पुत्र एकत्र हुए थे।"
