धृतराष्ट्र उवाच संप्रमृद्य महत्सैन्यं यान्तं शैनेयमर्जुनम् निर्ह्रीका मम ते पुत्राः किमकुर्वत संजय

Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: Śini's descendant proceeded towards Arjuna, crushing that large army. O Sañjaya! What did my shameless sons do?

धृतराष्ट्र ने कहा: शिनि के वंशज उस विशाल सेना को कुचलते हुए अर्जुन की ओर बढ़े। हे संजय! मेरे बेशर्म बेटों ने क्या किया?

कथं चैषां तथा युद्धे धृतिरासीन्मुमूर्षताम् शैनेयचरितं दृष्ट्वा सदृशं सव्यसाचिनः

When they confronted death in that battle, how did they hold up their spirits? The conduct of Śini's descendant is like that of Savyasachi.

जब उस युद्ध में उनका सामना मौत से हुआ, तो उन्होंने अपना हौसला कैसे कायम रखा? शिनि के वंशज का आचरण सव्यसाची के समान है।

किं नु वक्ष्यन्ति ते क्षात्रं सैन्यमध्ये पराजिताः कथं च सात्यकिर्युद्धे व्यतिक्रान्तो महायशाः

In the midst of the soldiers, how could the kṣatriya-s bear to be defeated? How did the immensely illustrious Sātyaki paś-s through them in that battle?

सैनिकों के बीच में क्षत्रिय कैसे पराजित हो सकते थे? उस युद्ध में अत्यंत तेजस्वी सात्यकि ने उन्हें कैसे पार किया?

कथं च मम पुत्राणां जीवतां तत्र संजय शैनेयोऽभिययौ युद्धे तन्ममाचक्ष्व तत्त्वतः

O Sañjaya! As long as my sons were alive there, how could Śini's descendant progress in that battle? Tell me everything in detail.

हे संजय! जब तक मेरे पुत्र वहाँ जीवित थे, शिनि का वंशज उस युद्ध में कैसे आगे बढ़ सकता था? मुझे सब कुछ विस्तार से बताओ.

अत्यद्भुतमिदं तात त्वत्सकाशाच्छृणोम्यहम् एकस्य बहुभिर्युद्धं शत्रुभिर्वै महारथैः

O son! What I have heard from you, about the clash between one and many, with mahāratha-s on the side of the enemy, is extremely wonderful.

हे वत्स शत्रु पक्ष के महारथियों के साथ एक और अनेक के बीच संघर्ष के बारे में मैंने आपसे जो सुना है, वह अत्यंत अद्भुत है।

विपरीतमहं मन्ये मन्दभाग्यान्सुतान्प्रति यत्रावध्यन्त समरे सात्वतेन महात्मना

I think that destiny must be against my sons and they suffer from ill fortune, since they are being slain in the battle by the great-souled Sātvata.

मैं सोचता हूं कि नियति अवश्य ही मेरे पुत्रों के विरुद्ध है और वे दुर्भाग्य से पीड़ित हैं, क्योंकि वे महान आत्मा सात्वत द्वारा युद्ध में मारे जा रहे हैं।

एकस्य हि न पर्याप्तं मत्सैन्यं तस्य संजय क्रुद्धस्य युयुधानस्य सर्वे तिष्ठन्तु पाण्डवाः

O Sañjaya! A single one is sufficient to counter my entire army. When Yuyudhāna is angry, let all the Pāṇḍava-s remain standing.

हे संजय! मेरी पूरी सेना का मुकाबला करने के लिए एक ही काफी है। जब युयुधान क्रोधित हो तो सभी पांडव खड़े रहें।

निर्जित्य समरे द्रोणं कृतिनं युद्धदुर्मदम् यथा पशुगणान्सिंहस्तद्वद्धन्ता सुतान्मम

He has vanquished Droṇa, who is accomplished and unassailable in fighting, in the battle. Sātyaki will kill my sons, like a lion against large numbers of deer.

उन्होंने युद्ध में निपुण और अजेय द्रोण को युद्ध में परास्त कर दिया है। सात्यकि मेरे पुत्रों को उसी प्रकार मार डालेगा, जैसे सिंह बड़ी संख्या में मृगों को मार गिराता है।

कृतवर्मादिभिः शूरैर्यत्तैर्बहुभिराहवे युयुधानो न शकितो हन्तुं यः पुरुषर्षभः

There were many brave warriors, Kritavarma and the others. But in the battle, they were incapable of fighting with that bull among men and he will kill them.

कृतवर्मा आदि अनेक वीर योद्धा थे। परन्तु युद्ध में वे मनुष्यों में उस बैल से लड़ने में असमर्थ थे और वह उन्हें मार डालेगा।

नैतदीदृशकं युद्धं कृतवांस्तत्र फल्गुनः यादृशं कृतवान्युद्धं शिनेर्नप्ता महायशाः

Phālguna himself was incapable of fighting in the way that Śini's immensely illustrious grandson fought.

फाल्गुन स्वयं उस तरह से लड़ने में असमर्थ था जिस तरह से सिनि के बेहद शानदार पोते ने लड़ाई लड़ी थी।

संजय उवाच तव दुर्मन्त्रिते राजन्दुर्योधनकृतेन च शृणुष्वावहितो भूत्वा यत्ते वक्ष्यामि भारत

Sañjaya replied: O king! All this has happened because of Duryodhana's evil counsel and deeds. O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! Listen attentively to what I am telling you.

संजय ने उत्तर दिया: हे राजा! यह सब दुर्योधन की दुष्ट युक्ति और कर्मों के कारण हुआ है। हे भरत वंश के वंशज! मैं जो तुमसे कह रहा हूं उसे ध्यान से सुनो।

ते पुनः संन्यवर्तन्त कृत्वा संशप्तकान्मिथः परां युद्धे मतिं कृत्वा पुत्रस्य तव शासनात्

On your son's instructions, the saṃśaptaka-s returned, having made up their minds to fight to their utmost.

आपके पुत्र के निर्देश पर, संशप्तक अपनी पूरी क्षमता से लड़ने का मन बनाकर लौट आए।

त्रीणि सादिसहस्राणि दुर्योधनपुरोगमाः शकाः काम्बोजबाह्लीका यवनाः पारदास्तथा

There were three thousand riders, with Duryodhana at the forefront—Śāka-s, Kāmboja-s, Bahlikas, Yāvana-s, Pārada-s,

तीन हजार सवार थे, जिनमें दुर्योधन सबसे आगे था - शक, काम्बोज, बाह्लीक, यवन, पारद,

कुणिन्दास्तङ्गणाम्बष्ठाः पैशाचाश्च समन्दराः अभ्यद्रवन्त शैनेयं शलभाः पावकं यथा

Kuṇinda-s, Taṅgana-s, Ambaṣṭha-s, Piśāca-s and those from mountainous regions. They attacked Śini's descendant, like insects towards a flame.

कुणिंद-एस, तांगना-एस, अंबष्ठ-एस, पिशाच-एस और पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों से। उन्होंने शिनि के वंशज पर हमला किया, जैसे आग की ओर कीड़े।

युक्ताश्च पार्वतीयानां रथाः पाषाणयोधिनाम् शूराः पञ्चशता राजञ्शैनेयं समुपाद्रवन्

They were joined by rāṭha-s from the mountainous regions, those who fought with stones. O king! Five hundred such brave ones attacked Śini's descendant.

उनके साथ पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों के रथ भी शामिल हो गए, जो पत्थरों से लड़ते थे। हे राजा! ऐसे पाँच सौ वीरों ने शिनि के वंशज पर आक्रमण किया।

ततो रथसहस्रेण महारथशतेन च द्विरदानां सहस्रेण द्विसाहस्रैश्च वाजिभिः

There were one thousand rāṭha-s and a hundred maharāṭha-s. There were one thousand elephants and two thousand horses.

वहाँ एक हजार रथ और सौ मराठा थे। वहाँ एक हजार हाथी और दो हजार घोड़े थे।

शरवर्षाणि मुञ्चन्तो विविधानि महारथाः अभ्यद्रवन्त शैनेयमसंख्येयाश्च पत्तयः

Those mahāratha-s showered many different kinds of arrows. In that battle, infantry attacked Śini's descendant.

उन महारथियों ने अनेक प्रकार के बाणों की वर्षा की। उस युद्ध में, पैदल सेना ने सिनी के वंशज पर हमला किया।

तांश्च संचोदयन्सर्वान्घ्नतैनमिति भारत दुःशासनो महाराज सात्यकिं पर्यवारयत्

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! O great king! Duḥśāsana urged all of them to surround Sātyaki and kill him.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! हे महान राजा! दुःशासन ने उन सभी से सात्यकि को घेरने और उसे मारने का आग्रह किया।

तत्राद्भुतमपश्याम शैनेयचरितं महत् यदेको बहुभिः सार्धमसंभ्रान्तमयुध्यत

We witnessed the great and marvellous conduct of Śini's descendant. Without any fear, he single-handedly fought against many.

हमने सिनी के वंशज का महान और अद्भुत आचरण देखा। बिना किसी डर के उन्होंने अकेले ही कई लोगों से मुकाबला किया।

अवधीच्च रथानीकं द्विरदानां च तद्बलम् सादिनश्चैव तान्सर्वान्दस्यूनपि च सर्वशः

He slew that array of rāṭha-s, the army of elephants, all the riders and all those dasyu-s. He mangled and routed them.

उसने रथ-समूह, हाथियों की सेना, सभी सवारों और उन सभी दस्युओं को मार डाला। उसने उन्हें तोड़-मरोड़कर भगाया।

तत्र चक्रैर्विमथितैर्भग्नैश्च परमायुधैः अक्षैश्च बहुधा भग्नैरीषादण्डकबन्धुरैः

With his supreme weapons, many wheels were shattered and beautiful chariot axles, poles, shafts and straps were destroyed.

उनके श्रेष्ठ अस्त्रों से अनेक पहिये टूट गये और सुन्दर रथ के धुरी, खम्भे, बाण और पट्टियाँ नष्ट हो गयीं।

कूबरैर्मथितैश्चापि ध्वजैश्चापि निपातितैः वर्मभिश्चामरैश्चैव व्यवकीर्णा वसुंधरा

Bumpers were fragmented and standards brought down. The earth was strewn with armour and whisks.

बंपरों को खंडित कर दिया गया और मानकों को नीचे गिरा दिया गया। पृथ्वी कवच ​​और कवच से बिखरी हुई थी।

स्रग्भिराभरणैर्वस्त्रैरनुकर्षैश्च मारिष संछन्ना वसुधा तत्र द्यौर्ग्रहैरिव भारत

O venerable one! There were garlands, ornaments, garments and yokes. O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! The earth was littered with these, like the sky with planets.

हे आदरणीय! मालाएँ, आभूषण, वस्त्र और जुए थे। हे भरत वंश के वंशज! पृथ्वी इनसे अटी पड़ी थी, जैसे आकाश ग्रहों से।

गिरिरूपधराश्चापि पतिताः कुञ्जरोत्तमाः अञ्जनस्य कुले जाता वामनस्य च भारत सुप्रतीककुले जाता महापद्मकुले तथा

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! The best of elephants, with the forms of mountains, were brought down. They were born in the lineages of Añjana, Vāmana, Supratīka, Mahāpadma,

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! पर्वतों के आकार वाले सर्वोत्तम हाथियों को नीचे लाया गया। वे अंजन, वामन, सुप्रतीक, महापद्म, के वंश में पैदा हुए थे।

ऐरावणकुले चैव तथान्येषु कुलेषु च जाता दन्तिवरा राजञ्शेरते बहवो हताः

Airāvata and many other lineages. O king! The best of tuskers were slain in large numbers and lay down there.

ऐरावत और कई अन्य वंश। हे राजा! सबसे अच्छे हाथी बड़ी संख्या में मारे गए और वहीं लेट गए।

वनायुजान्पार्वतीयान्काम्बोजारट्टबाह्लिकान् तथा हयवरान्राजन्निजघ्ने तत्र सात्यकिः

O king! The best of horses, from Vanāyu, mountainous regions, Kāmboja and Bahlika breeds, were slain there by Sātyaki.

हे राजा! वनायु, पर्वतीय क्षेत्र, कंबोज और बहलिका नस्ल के सर्वश्रेष्ठ घोड़ों को सात्यकि ने वहां मार डाला।

नानादेशसमुत्थांश्च नानाजात्यांश्च पत्तिनः निजघ्ने तत्र शैनेयः शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः

There were foot soldiers who had been raised in many different countries, born in many races. Hundreds and thousands of them were killed there by Śini's descendant.

ऐसे पैदल सैनिक थे जो कई अलग-अलग देशों में पले-बढ़े थे, कई जातियों में पैदा हुए थे। उनमें से सैकड़ों और हजारों को सिनी के वंशजों ने मार डाला।

तेषु प्रकाल्यमानेषु दस्यून्दुःशासनोऽब्रवीत् निवर्तध्वमधर्मज्ञा युध्यध्वं किं सृतेन वः

When the soldiers confronted death in this way, Duḥśāsana spoke to the dasyu-s. "Return. You are not those who are familiar with dharma. Why are you running away without fighting?"

जब सैनिकों ने इस तरह मौत का सामना किया, तो दु:शासन ने दस्युओं से बात की। "लौट जाओ। तुम धर्म से परिचित नहीं हो। तुम युद्ध किये बिना क्यों भाग रहे हो?"

तांश्चापि सर्वान्संप्रेक्ष्य पुत्रो दुःशासनस्तव पाषाणयोधिनः शूरान्पार्वतीयानचोदयत्

On seeing that they did not listen, your son, Duḥśāsana, urged the brave ones from the mountainous regions, the ones who fought with stones.

यह देखकर कि वे नहीं सुनते, आपके पुत्र दु:शासन ने पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों के उन शूरवीरों से आग्रह किया, जो पत्थरों से लड़ते थे।

अश्मयुद्धेषु कुशला नैतज्जानाति सात्यकिः अश्मयुद्धमजानन्तं घ्नतैनं युद्धकामुकम्

"You are skilled in fighting with stones and Sātyaki is not familiar with this. You know about fighting with stones. Use that mode to kill the one who desires to fight.

"आप पत्थरों से लड़ने में कुशल हैं और सात्यकि इससे परिचित नहीं हैं। आप पत्थरों से लड़ने के बारे में जानते हैं। जो लड़ना चाहता है उसे मारने के लिए उस विधा का उपयोग करें।"

तथैव कुरवः सर्वे नाश्मयुद्धविशारदाः अभिद्रवत मा भैष्ट न वः प्राप्स्यति सात्यकिः

None of the Kuru-s are skilled in fighting with stones. Do not be frightened. Attack. Sātyaki will not be able to approach you.

कोई भी कुरु पत्थरों से लड़ने में कुशल नहीं है। भयभीत न हो। आक्रमण करना। सात्यकि तुम्हारे पास नहीं आ सकेंगे।

ततो गजशिशुप्रख्यैरुपलैः शैलवासिनः उद्यतैर्युयुधानस्य स्थिता मरणकाङ्क्षिणः

Those mountain-dwellers raised boulders that were like elephant cubs, and desiring death, advanced against Yuyudhāna.

उन पर्वतवासियों ने हाथी के बच्चों के समान शिलाएँ उठाईं और मृत्यु की इच्छा से युयुधान के विरुद्ध आगे बढ़े।

क्षेपणीयैस्तथाप्यन्ये सात्वतस्य वधैषिणः चोदितास्तव पुत्रेण रुरुधुः सर्वतोदिशम्

Others hurled those at him, wishing to kill Sātvata. They were urged by your son and hemmed him in from all directions.

दूसरों ने सात्वत को मारने की इच्छा से उस पर हमला किया। आपके पुत्र ने उनसे आग्रह किया और उन्हें सभी दिशाओं से घेर लिया।

तेषामापततामेव शिलायुद्धं चिकीर्षताम् सात्यकिः प्रतिसंधाय त्रिंशतं प्राहिणोच्छरान्

On seeing them descend on him, desiring to fight with boulders, Sātyaki fought against them and released three hundred arrows.

उन्हें अपने ऊपर आते देख, शिलाओं से युद्ध करने की इच्छा से, सात्यकि ने उनसे युद्ध किया और तीन सौ बाण छोड़े।

तामश्मवृष्टिं तुमुलां पार्वतीयैः समीरिताम् बिभेदोरगसंकाशैर्नाराचैः शिनिपुंगवः

Those from the mountainous regions rained down a tumultuous shower of boulders. However, the bull among the Śini lineage countered these with iron arrows that were like serpents.

पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों से आये लोगों ने भारी मात्रा में पत्थरों की वर्षा की। हालाँकि, सिनी वंश के बैल ने इनका मुकाबला लोहे के तीरों से किया जो साँपों की तरह थे।

तैरश्मचूर्णैर्दीप्यद्भिः खद्योतानामिव व्रजैः प्रायः सैन्यान्यवध्यन्त हाहाभूतानि मारिष

These shattered the boulders and the fragments shone like fireflies. O venerable one! Some of these slew the soldiers and sounds of lamentation arose.

इनसे चट्टानें टूट गईं और टुकड़े जुगनू की तरह चमकने लगे। हे आदरणीय! इनमें से कुछ ने सैनिकों को मार डाला और विलाप की आवाजें उठने लगीं।

ततः पञ्चशताः शूराः समुद्यतमहाशिलाः निकृत्तबाहवो राजन्निपेतुर्धरणीतले

O king! There were five hundred brave ones with giant boulders raised. Their arms were severed and fell down on the ground.

हे राजा! विशाल शिलाएँ उठाए पाँच सौ वीर थे। उनकी भुजाएँ कटकर भूमि पर गिर पड़ीं।

पाषाणयोधिनः शूरान्यतमानानवस्थितान् अवधीद्बहुसाहस्रांस्तदद्भुतमिवाभवत्

Other brave ones who fought with stones were stationed there. Many thousands of these were slain and it was extraordinary.

पत्थरों से लड़ने वाले और भी वीर वहाँ तैनात थे। इनमें से कई हज़ार लोग मारे गए और यह असाधारण था।

ततः पुनर्बस्तमुखैरश्मवृष्टिं समन्ततः अयोहस्तैः शूलहस्तैर्दरदैः खशतङ्गणैः

The foremost among them again attacked, showering boulders from every direction. They held iron in their hands. There were Dārada-s with spears in their hands and Khaśa-s and Taṅgana-s.

उनमें से सबसे बड़े ने हर दिशा से पत्थरों की वर्षा करते हुए फिर से हमला किया। उनके हाथों में लोहा था। उनके हाथों में भाले के साथ दारदास और खश और तांगना थे।

अम्बष्ठैश्च कुणिन्दैश्च क्षिप्तां क्षिप्तां स सात्यकिः नाराचैः प्रतिविव्याध प्रेक्षमाणो महाबलः

There were Ambaṣṭha-s and Kuṇinda-s. They were enraged and Sātyaki was also wrathful. The immensely strong one released iron arrows and countered them.

अम्बष्ठ और कुणिंद थे। वे क्रोधित थे और सात्यकि भी क्रोधित थे। अत्यंत बलवान ने लोहे के बाण छोड़े और उनका प्रतिकार किया।

अद्रीणां भिद्यमानानामन्तरिक्षे शितैः शरैः शब्देन प्राद्रवन्राजन्गजाश्वरथपत्तयः

With his sharp arrows, he shattered those boulders in the sky. O king! This produced a noise that made elephants, horses, rāṭha-s and infantry run away.

उसने आकाश में अपने तीखे बाणों से उन शिलाओं को छिन्न-भिन्न कर दिया। हे राजा! इससे ऐसा शोर उत्पन्न हुआ जिससे हाथी, घोड़े, रथ-सैनिक और पैदल सेना भाग गई।

अश्मचूर्णैः समाकीर्णा मनुष्याश्च वयांसि च नाशक्नुवन्नवस्थातुं भ्रमरैरिव दंशिताः

Struck by shards from those boulders, powerful and armoured men were incapable of remaining there and roamed around.

उन शिलाखंडों के टुकड़ों से आहत होकर शक्तिशाली और बख्तरबंद लोग वहां टिकने में असमर्थ हो गए और इधर-उधर घूमते रहे।

हतशिष्टा विरुधिरा भिन्नमस्तकपिण्डिकाः कुञ्जराः संन्यवर्तन्त युयुधानरथं प्रथि

The remaining elephants were covered with blood. Their heads and frontal globes were shattered. They ran away from Yuyudhāna's chariot.

बाकी हाथी खून से लथपथ हो गये। उनके सिर और ललाट के गोले चकनाचूर हो गये। वे युयुधान के रथ से उतरकर भाग गये।

ततः शब्दः समभवत्तव सैन्यस्य मारिष माधवेनार्द्यमानस्य सागरस्येव दारुणः

O venerable one! A great noise arose among your soldiers when they were afflicted by Mādhava, like that of the fierce ocean.

हे आदरणीय! माधव द्वारा पीड़ित होने पर आपके सैनिकों में भयंकर समुद्र के समान महान् कोलाहल उत्पन्न हो गया।

तं शब्दं तुमुलं श्रुत्वा द्रोणो यन्तारमब्रवीत् एष सूत रणे क्रुद्धः सात्वतानां महारथः

On hearing this tumultuous sound, Droṇa told his charioteer. "O charioteer! In this battle, mahāratha Sātvata is angry.

यह कोलाहलपूर्ण ध्वनि सुनकर द्रोण ने अपने सारथी से कहा। "हे सारथि! इस युद्ध में, महारथी सात्वत क्रोधित हैं।

दारयन्बहुधा सैन्यं रणे चरति कालवत् यत्रैष शब्दस्तुमुलस्तत्र सूत रथं नय

As he roams around in the encounter, like Death, he is shattering the soldiers in many ways. O charioteer! Take the chariot to the spot where the tumultuous sound has arisen.

वह मुठभेड़ में मौत की तरह घूम-घूम कर सैनिकों को कई तरह से चकनाचूर कर रहा है. हे सारथी! रथ को उस स्थान पर ले जाएं जहां से कोलाहलपूर्ण ध्वनि उत्पन्न हुई हो।

पाषाणयोधिभिर्नूनं युयुधानः समागतः तथा हि रथिनः सर्वे ह्रियन्ते विद्रुतैर्हयैः

There is no doubt that Yuyudhāna is fighting with the mountain-dwellers. It is there that all the rāṭha-s are being destroyed and the horses are running away.

इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि युयुधान पर्वतवासियों से युद्ध कर रहा है। यहीं पर सारे रथ नष्ट हो रहे हैं और घोड़े भाग रहे हैं।

विशस्त्रकवचा रुग्णास्तत्र तत्र पतन्ति च न शक्नुवन्ति यन्तारः संयन्तुं तुमुले हयान्

The foot soldiers are bereft of their armour. They are wounded and are falling down. In that melee, the charioteers can no longer control their horses."

पैदल सैनिक अपने कवच से वंचित हो गए हैं। वे घायल होकर गिर रहे हैं. उस हाथापाई में, सारथी अब अपने घोड़ों को नियंत्रित नहीं कर सकते।"

इत्येवं ब्रुवतो राजन्भारद्वाजस्य धीमतः प्रत्युवाच ततो यन्ता द्रोणं शस्त्रभृतां वरम्

Having been thus addressed by Bhāradvāja's intelligent son, the charioteer spoke to Droṇa, supreme among those who wielded weapons.

भारद्वाज के बुद्धिमान पुत्र द्वारा इस प्रकार संबोधित किये जाने पर सारथी ने हथियार चलाने वालों में श्रेष्ठ द्रोण से बात की।

आयुष्मन्द्रवते सैन्यं कौरवेयं समन्ततः पश्य योधान्रणे भिन्नान्धावमानांस्ततस्ततः

"O one with a long life! The Kaurava soldiers are running away, in every direction. Behold. The warriors have been shattered and are fleeing here and there.

"हे दीर्घायु! कौरव सैनिक हर दिशा में भाग रहे हैं। देखो। योद्धा चूर हो गए हैं और इधर-उधर भाग रहे हैं।"

एते च सहिताः शूराः पाञ्चालाः पाण्डवैः सह त्वामेव हि जिघांसन्तः प्राद्रवन्ति समन्ततः

The brave Pāñcāla-s and Pāṇḍava-s have united. They are attacking us from every direction, wishing to kill you.

बहादुर पांचाल और पांडव एकजुट हो गए हैं। वे तुम्हें मार डालने की इच्छा से हम पर हर दिशा से आक्रमण कर रहे हैं।

अत्र कार्यं समाधत्स्व प्राप्तकालमरिंदम स्थाने वा गमने वापि दूरं यातश्च सात्यकिः

O destroyer of enemies! The time has come for you to decide what must be done. Should we remain here, or should we advance further, towards where Sātyaki is proceeding?"

हे शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले! आपके लिए यह निर्णय लेने का समय आ गया है कि क्या किया जाना चाहिए। क्या हमें यहीं रहना चाहिए, या हमें आगे बढ़ना चाहिए, जहां सात्यकि आगे बढ़ रहे हैं?"

तथैवं वदतस्तस्य भारद्वाजस्य मारिष प्रत्यदृश्यत शैनेयो निघ्नन्बहुविधान्रथान्

O venerable one! Thus did he speak to Bhāradvāja's son. At that time, Śini's descendant was seen, killing many different kinds of rāṭha-s.

हे आदरणीय! इस प्रकार उन्होंने भारद्वाज के पुत्र से बात की। उस समय, शिनि के वंशज को विभिन्न प्रकार के रथों को मारते हुए देखा गया था।

ते वध्यमानाः समरे युयुधानेन तावकाः युयुधानरथं त्यक्त्वा द्रोणानीकाय दुद्रुवुः

In the encounter, those on your side were killed by Yuyudhāna. They abandoned Yuyudhāna's chariot and fled towards Droṇa's army.

All of them were terrified and fled towards Droṇa's chariot. With other rāṭha-s, Duḥśāsana had already retreated there earlier.
