धृतराष्ट्र उवाच सर्वेषामेव मे ब्रूहि रथचिह्नानि संजय ये द्रोणमभ्यवर्तन्त क्रुद्धा भीमपुरोगमाः

Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: O Sañjaya! Tell me about the signs on the chariots of those who angrily attacked Droṇa, with Bhīmā at the forefront.

धृतराष्ट्र ने कहा: हे संजय! मुझे उन लोगों के रथों पर लगे चिन्हों के बारे में बताओ जिन्होंने क्रोधपूर्वक भीम को सबसे आगे रखकर द्रोण पर आक्रमण किया था।

संजय उवाच ऋश्यवर्णैर्हयैर्दृष्ट्वा व्यायच्छन्तं वृकोदरम् रजताश्वस्ततः शूरः शैनेयः संन्यवर्तत

Sañjaya replied: Vṛkodara advanced into battle on horses that had the complexion of antelopes. On seeing him, Śini's brave descendant advanced on horses that were silvery.

संजय ने उत्तर दिया: वृकोदर मृग के समान रंग वाले घोड़ों पर युद्ध में आगे बढ़े। उसे देखकर, सिनी का बहादुर वंशज चांदी के घोड़ों पर आगे बढ़ा।

दर्शनीयास्तु काम्बोजाः शुकपत्रपरिच्छदाः वहन्तो नकुलं शीघ्रं तावकानभिदुद्रुवुः

Nākula swiftly advanced against your army, borne on handsome horses from Kāmboja that were decorated with the feathers of parrots.

तोते के पंखों से सजाए गए कम्बोज के सुंदर घोड़ों पर सवार होकर नकुल तेजी से आपकी सेना के विरुद्ध आगे बढ़ा।

कृष्णास्तु मेघसंकाशाः सहदेवमुदायुधम् भीमवेगा नरव्याघ्रमवहन्वातरंहसः

Sahadeva was borne on horses that were as dark as clouds. That tiger among men raised his weapons and advanced with great force, on horses that were as fleet as the wind.

सहदेव बादलों के समान काले घोड़ों पर सवार थे। मनुष्यों में से उस बाघ ने अपने हथियार उठाए और हवा के समान बेड़े वाले घोड़ों पर सवार होकर बड़ी ताकत के साथ आगे बढ़ा।

हेमोत्तमप्रतिच्छन्नैर्हयैर्वातसमैर्जवे अभ्यवर्तन्त सैन्यानि सर्वाण्येव युधिष्ठिरम्

Yudhiṣṭhira advanced on horses that were as fleet as the wind and were caparisoned with the best of gold. All the other soldiers followed him.

युधिष्ठिर उन घोड़ों पर सवार होकर आगे बढ़े जो हवा के समान बेड़े वाले थे और सर्वोत्तम सोने से सुसज्जित थे। अन्य सभी सैनिक उसके पीछे हो लिये।

राज्ञस्त्वनन्तरं राजा पाञ्चाल्यो द्रुपदोऽभवत् जातरूपमयच्छत्रः सर्वैः स्वैरभिरक्षितः

King Drupada of Pāñcāla advanced after the king. A golden umbrella was held aloft his head and he protected all his soldiers.

पंचाल के राजा द्रुपद राजा के पीछे आगे बढ़े। उनके सिर पर एक सुनहरा छत्र था और उन्होंने अपने सभी सैनिकों की रक्षा की।

ललामैर्हरिभिर्युक्तैः सर्वशब्दक्षमैर्युधि राज्ञां मध्ये महेष्वासः शान्तभीरभ्यवर्तत

The great archer Shantabhi advanced in the midst of all the kings. He was yoked to beautiful horses that were capable of withstanding every kind of noise in battle.

महान धनुर्धर शांताभि सभी राजाओं के बीच में आगे बढ़े। उसके साथ सुन्दर घोड़े जुते थे जो युद्ध में हर प्रकार के शोर को सहने में सक्षम थे।

तं विराटोऽन्वयात्पश्चात्सह शूरैर्महारथैः केकयाश्च शिखण्डी च धृष्टकेतुस्तथैव च स्वैः स्वैः सैन्यैः परिवृता मत्स्यराजानमन्वयुः

Virāṭa followed him, with all other brave mahāratha-s. So did the Kekaya-s, Śikhaṇḍī and Dhṛṣṭaketu, surrounded by their respective soldiers. All of them followed the king of Mātsya.

अन्य सभी वीर महारथियों के साथ विराट ने उनका पीछा किया। केकय, शिखंडी और धृष्टकेतु भी अपने-अपने सैनिकों से घिरे हुए थे। उन सभी ने मत्स्य राजा का अनुसरण किया।

ते तु पाटलपुष्पाणां समवर्णा हयोत्तमाः वहमाना व्यराजन्त मत्स्यस्यामित्रघातिनः

Mātsya, the slayer of enemies, was resplendent as he was borne by supreme horses, with the complexion of pātāla flowers.

शत्रुओं का संहार करने वाला मत्स्य देदीप्यमान था क्योंकि वह पाताल पुष्पों के समान श्रेष्ठ घोड़ों पर सवार था।

हारिद्रसमवर्णास्तु जवना हेममालिनः पुत्रं विराटराजस्य सत्वराः समुदावहन्

The king of Virāṭa's son was swiftly borne on swift horses that were yellow in complexion and were garlanded with gold.

विराट के पुत्र राजा वेगशाली घोड़ों पर सवार थे, जिनका रंग पीला था और वे सोने की माला पहने हुए थे।

इन्द्रगोपकवर्णैस्तु भ्रातरः पञ्च केकयाः जातरूपसमाभासः सर्वे लोहितकध्वजाः

The five brothers from Kekaya were on horses that had the hue of fireflies. All of them dazzled like pure gold and possessed red standards.

केकय के पाँचों भाई जुगनू के समान वर्ण वाले घोड़ों पर सवार थे। वे सब शुद्ध सोने के समान चमकते थे और उनके पास लाल ध्वज थे।

ते हेममालिनः शूराः सर्वे युद्धविशारदाः वर्षन्त इव जीमूताः प्रत्यदृश्यन्त दंशिताः

All those brave ones had golden garlands and were skilled in fighting. They were seen to be armoured and showered like clouds.

उन सभी वीरों के पास सोने की मालाएँ थीं और वे युद्ध में कुशल थे। वे बादलों की भाँति कवचधारी तथा बरसते हुए दिखाई देते थे।

आमपात्रनिभाकाराः पाञ्चाल्यममितौजसम् दान्तास्ताम्रारुणा युक्ताः शिखण्डिनमुदावहन्

Śikhaṇḍī, the infinitely energetic one from Pāñcāla was yoked to controlled steeds that were coppery red, like unbaked earthen vessels.

पंचाल के असीम ऊर्जावान शिखंडी को उन नियंत्रित घोड़ों से जोड़ा गया था जो कच्चे मिट्टी के बर्तनों की तरह तांबे जैसे लाल थे।

तथा द्वादशसाहस्राः पाञ्चालानां महारथाः तेषां तु षट्सहस्राणि ये शिखण्डिनमन्वयुः

Of the twelve thousand mahāratha-s from Pāñcāla, six thousand followed Śikhaṇḍī.

पंचाल के बारह हजार महारथियों में से छह हजार ने शिखंडी का अनुसरण किया।

पुत्रं तु शिशुपालस्य नरसिंहस्य मारिष आक्रीडन्तो वहन्ति स्म सारङ्गशबला हयाः

O venerable one! Śiśupāla's son, Dhṛṣṭaketu, was a lion among men. He was borne on playful horses that had the complexion of deer.

हे आदरणीय! शिशुपाल का पुत्र धृष्टकेतु मनुष्यों में सिंह था। वह हिरण के समान रंग वाले चंचल घोड़ों पर सवार था।

धृष्टकेतुश्च चेदीनामृषभोऽतिबलोदितः काम्बोजैः शबलैरश्वैरभ्यवर्तत दुर्जयः

That bull among the Cedi-s was powerful. He was invincible and he advanced on horses from Kāmboja that were dappled.

सेडी-एस के बीच वह बैल शक्तिशाली था। वह अजेय था और वह काम्बोज के घोड़ों पर सवार होकर आगे बढ़ता था।

बृहत्क्षत्रं तु कैकेयं सुकुमारं हयोत्तमाः पलालधूमवर्णाभाः सैन्धवाः शीघ्रमावहन्

Vrihatkshatra from Kekaya was borne on excellent and delicate horses that were swift and from Sindhu. They had the hue of smoking pipe.

केकय के वृहत्क्षत्र सिंधु से उत्पन्न हुए तेज और सुन्दर घोड़ों पर सवार थे। उनका रंग धूम्रपान पाइप जैसा था।

मल्लिकाक्षाः पद्मवर्णा बाह्लिजाताः स्वलंकृताः शूरं शिखण्डिनः पुत्रं क्षत्रदेवमुदावहन्

Śikhaṇḍī's son, the brave Kṣatradeva, was borne on horses that had eyes like jasmines. They had the complexion of lotuses, were adorned and were born in Bahlika.

शिखंडी के पुत्र, बहादुर क्षत्रदेव, चमेली जैसी आंखों वाले घोड़ों पर सवार थे। उनका रंग कमल के समान था, वे सुशोभित थे और बाह्लीक में उत्पन्न हुए थे।

युवानमवहन्युद्धे क्रौञ्चवर्णा हयोत्तमाः काश्यस्याभिभुवः पुत्रं सुकुमारं महारथम्

The young and delicate son of the king of Kāśi was a mahāratha. He was borne into battle on supreme horses that had the complexion of cranes.

काशी के राजा का युवा और नाजुक पुत्र एक महारथ था। वह सारस के समान रंग वाले सर्वोच्च घोड़ों पर सवार होकर युद्ध में गया था।

श्वेतास्तु प्रतिविन्ध्यं तं कृष्णग्रीवा मनोजवाः यन्तुः प्रेष्यकरा राजन्राजपुत्रमुदावहन्

O king! The prince Prativindhya was borne on white horses with black necks that were as swift as thought and were obedient to the driver.

हे राजा! राजकुमार प्रतिविन्ध्य काली गर्दन वाले सफेद घोड़ों पर सवार थे जो उनकी सोच के अनुसार ही तेज़ थे और चालक के आज्ञाकारी थे।

सुतसोमं तु यं धौम्यात्पार्थः पुत्रमयाचत माषपुष्पसवर्णास्तमवहन्वाजिनो रणे

Pārtha obtained his son Sutasoma through Dhaumya. Horses that had the complexion of māṣa flowers bore him into battle.

पार्थ को धौम्य से पुत्र सुतसोम की प्राप्ति हुई। माशा के फूलों के समान रंग वाले घोड़े उसे युद्ध में ले गए।

सहस्रसोमप्रतिमा बभूवुः; पुरे कुरूणामुदयेन्दुनाम्नि तस्मिञ्जातः सोमसंक्रन्दमध्ये; यस्मात्तस्मात्सुतसोमोऽभवत्सः

He possessed the radiance of one thousand moons. He was born in the city of the Kuru-s named Udayendu. Having been born thus, in the midst of those of the lunar lineage, he came to be known as Sutasoma.

उनमें एक हजार चंद्रमाओं के समान कांति थी। इनका जन्म कुरुवंश के उदयेन्दु नामक नगर में हुआ था। इस प्रकार चंद्र वंश के लोगों के बीच जन्म लेने के बाद, उन्हें सुतसोम के नाम से जाना जाने लगा।

नाकुलिं तु शतानीकं शालपुष्पनिभा हयाः आदित्यतरुणप्रख्याः श्लाघनीयमुदावहन्

Nākula's son, Śatānīka, was borne on horses that had the complexion of śala flowers. He was worthy of praise and was like the rising sun in his radiance.

नकुल का पुत्र शतानीक शाल पुष्प के समान घोड़ों पर सवार था। वह प्रशंसा के योग्य था और उसकी चमक उगते सूरज की तरह थी।

काञ्चनप्रतिमैर्योक्त्रैर्मयूरग्रीवसंनिभाः द्रौपदेयं नरव्याघ्रं श्रुतकर्माणमावहन्

Draupadī's son, Shrutakarma, tiger among men, was borne on horses that had complexions like the necks of peacocks and were caparisoned in gold.

द्रौपदी का पुत्र, श्रुतकर्मा, मनुष्यों में बाघ, घोड़ों पर सवार था, जिनका रंग मोर की गर्दन जैसा था और वे सोने से मढ़े हुए थे।

श्रुतकीर्तिं श्रुतनिधिं द्रौपदेयं हयोत्तमाः ऊहुः पार्थसमं युद्धे चाषपत्रनिभा हयाः

Draupadī's son, Śrutakīrti, was an ocean of learning. He was the equal of Pārtha in battle and was on supreme horses.

द्रौपदी का पुत्र श्रुतकीर्ति विद्या का सागर था। वह युद्ध में पार्थ के समकक्ष था और सर्वोच्च घोड़ों पर सवार था।

यमाहुरध्यर्धगुणं कृष्णात्पार्थाच्च संयुगे अभिमन्युं पिशङ्गास्तं कुमारमवहन्रणे

In his qualities of fighting, he was regarded as one-and-a-half times superior to Kṛṣṇā and Pārtha. Horses with a tawny hue bore the young Abhimanyu into battle. These horses possessed hues like those on the feathers of blue jays.

युद्ध के गुणों में वह कृष्ण और पार्थ से डेढ़ गुना श्रेष्ठ माना जाता था। गहरे भूरे रंग वाले घोड़ों ने युवा अभिमन्यु को युद्ध में धकेल दिया। इन घोड़ों के पंखों का रंग नीले जैज़ के पंखों जैसा था।

एकस्तु धार्तराष्ट्रेभ्यः पाण्डवान्यः समाश्रितः तं बृहन्तो महाकाया युयुत्सुमवहन्रणे

There was only a single one among the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra who had sided with the Pāṇḍava-s in battle and large and gigantic horses bore Yuyutsu into battle.

धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों में से केवल एक ही ऐसा था जिसने युद्ध में पांडवों का साथ दिया था और युद्ध में बड़े और विशाल घोड़ों ने युयुत्सु को ढोया था।

पलालकाण्डवर्णास्तु वार्धक्षेमिं तरस्विनम् ऊहुः सुतुमुले युद्धे हया हृष्टाः स्वलंकृताः

The swift Vardhakhemi was carried into that dreadful battle on cheerful horses that were adorned and had the complexion of strands of straw.

तेज़ वर्धाखेमी को उस भयानक युद्ध में उन प्रसन्न घोड़ों पर ले जाया गया था जो सजे हुए थे और जिनका रंग भूसे के धागों जैसा था।

कुमारं शितिपादास्तु रुक्मपत्रैरुरश्छदैः सौचित्तिमवहन्युद्धे यन्तुः प्रेष्यकरा हयाः

There were horses with black feet, armoured with golden plates and obedient to the driver. These bore the youthful Saucitti into battle.

वहाँ काले पैरों वाले, सुनहरी पट्टियों से सुसज्जित और चालक के आज्ञाकारी घोड़े थे। इनसे युवा सॉसिट्टी को युद्ध में उतारना पड़ा।

रुक्मपृष्ठावकीर्णास्तु कौशेयसदृशा हयाः सुवर्णमालिनः क्षान्ताः श्रेणिमन्तमुदावहन्

There were controlled horses with the complexion of red silk. Their backs were covered with golden plates and they were in golden harnesses. These bore Shrenimana.

लाल रेशम के रंग वाले नियंत्रित घोड़े थे। उनकी पीठ सुनहरी पट्टियों से ढकी हुई थी और वे सुनहरे हार्नेस में थे। इनसे श्रेणिमना उत्पन्न हुई।

रुक्ममालाधराः शूरा हेमवर्णाः स्वलंकृताः काशिराजं हयश्रेष्ठाः श्लाघनीयमुदावहन्

The praiseworthy and brave king of Kāśi was borne on the best of horses. These possessed golden harnesses and the complexion of gold and were ornamented.

काशी के प्रशंसनीय और बहादुर राजा सर्वश्रेष्ठ घोड़ों पर सवार थे। इनमें सुनहरे हार और सोने का रंग था और वे अलंकृत थे।

अस्त्राणां च धनुर्वेदे ब्राह्मे वेदे च पारगम् तं सत्यधृतिमायान्तमरुणाः समुदावहन्

Satyadhṛti was skilled in weapons, the knowledge of fighting and in knowledge about the brāhman. He was borne on red steeds.

सत्यधृति शस्त्र विद्या, युद्ध विद्या तथा ब्राह्मण ज्ञान में कुशल थी। वह लाल घोड़ों पर सवार था।

यः स पाञ्चालसेनानीर्द्रोणमंशमकल्पयत् पारावतसवर्णाश्वा धृष्टद्युम्नमुदावहन्

Dhṛṣṭadyumna, the commander of the Pāñcāla-s, had been given Droṇa as his share. He was borne on horses that had the complexion of pigeons.

पंचालों के सेनापति धृष्टद्युम्न को उनके हिस्से के रूप में द्रोण दिया गया था। वह ऐसे घोड़ों पर सवार था जिनका रंग कबूतरों जैसा था।

तमन्वयात्सत्यधृतिः सौचित्तिर्युद्धदुर्मदः श्रेणिमान्वसुदानश्च पुत्रः काश्यस्य चाभिभो

Satyadhṛti and the invincible Saucitti followed him into battle and so did Shrenimana, Vasudāna and Vibhu, the sons of the king of Kāśi.

सत्यधृति और अजेय सौचित्ति ने युद्ध में उनका पीछा किया और काशी के राजा के पुत्र श्रेणिमन, वसुदान और विभु भी उनके साथ थे।

युक्तैः परमकाम्बोजैर्जवनैर्हेममालिभिः भीषयन्तो द्विषत्सैन्यं यमवैश्रवणोपमाः

They were yoked to supreme and swift horses from Kāmboja, with golden harnesses. Each was equal to Yāma or Vaiśravaṇa and could strike terror into enemy soldiers.

वे कंबोज के सर्वोच्च और तेज़ घोड़ों के साथ सुनहरे हार से जुड़े हुए थे। प्रत्येक यम या वैश्रवण के समान था और शत्रु सैनिकों को आतंकित कर सकता था।

प्रभद्रकास्तु पाञ्चालाः षट्सहस्राण्युदायुधाः नानावर्णैर्हयश्रेष्ठैर्हेमचित्ररथध्वजाः

There were six thousand Prabhadraka-s from Pāñcāla, with raised weapons. They were on the best of horses, with many hues, and possessed golden and colourful standards on their chariots.

पंचाल से छः हजार प्रभद्रक थे, जिनके पास हथियार थे। वे अनेक रंगों वाले सर्वोत्तम घोड़ों पर सवार थे, और उनके रथों पर सुनहरे और रंग-बिरंगे ध्वज थे।

शरव्रातैर्विधुन्वन्तः शत्रून्विततकार्मुकाः समानमृत्यवो भूत्वा धृष्टद्युम्नं समन्वयुः

They stretched their bows and released showers of arrows that confused the enemy. They were determined to die together and followed Dhṛṣṭadyumna.

उन्होंने अपने धनुष बढ़ाये और बाणों की वर्षा की जिससे शत्रु भ्रमित हो गये। वे एक साथ मरने के लिए कृतसंकल्प थे और धृष्टद्युम्न के पीछे चल दिये।

बभ्रुकौशेयवर्णास्तु सुवर्णवरमालिनः ऊहुरग्लानमनसश्चेकितानं हयोत्तमाः

There were supreme horses that were resplendent with a complexion like that of silk and possessed excellent golden harnesses. They cheerfully bore Cekitāna.

वहाँ श्रेष्ठ घोड़े थे जिनका रंग रेशम के समान शोभायमान था और जिनके पास उत्कृष्ट सुनहरी पट्टियाँ थीं। उन्होंने ख़ुशी-ख़ुशी सेकिताना को जन्म दिया।

इन्द्रायुधसवर्णैस्तु कुन्तिभोजो हयोत्तमैः आयात्सुवश्यैः पुरुजिन्मातुलः सव्यसाचिनः

Savyasachi's maternal uncle, Purujit Kuntibhoja, was on excellent and obedient horses. They possessed the complexion of Indra's weapon.

सव्यसाची के मामा पुरुजित कुन्तिभोज उत्कृष्ट और आज्ञाकारी घोड़ों पर सवार थे। उनके पास इंद्र के हथियार का रंग था।

अन्तरिक्षसवर्णास्तु तारकाचित्रिता इव राजानं रोचमानं ते हयाः संख्ये समावहन्

King Rocamānā was borne into that battle on horses that had the colour of the firmament, decorated with stars.

राजा रोकामाना उस युद्ध में आकाश के रंग और तारों से सुशोभित घोड़ों पर सवार होकर आए थे।

कर्बुराः शितिपादास्तु स्वर्णजालपरिच्छदाः जारासंधिं हयश्रेष्ठाः सहदेवमुदावहन्

Jarāsandha's son, Sahadeva, was borne on the best of horses, with speckled complexions and black feet. They were adorned in nets of gold.

जरासंध का पुत्र, सहदेव, धब्बेदार रंग और काले पैरों वाला सबसे अच्छे घोड़ों पर सवार था। वे सोने की जालियों से सजे हुए थे।

ये तु पुष्करनालस्य समवर्णा हयोत्तमाः जवे श्येनसमाश्चित्राः सुदामानमुदावहन्

Sudāmā was borne on swift horses that were coloured like hawks and had complexions like those of lotus stalks.

सुदामा का जन्म तेज घोड़ों पर हुआ था, जिनका रंग बाजों जैसा और रंग कमल के डंठल जैसा था।

शशलोहितवर्णास्तु पाण्डुरोद्गतराजयः पाञ्चाल्यं गोपतेः पुत्रं सिंहसेनमुदावहन्

Siṃhasena from Pāñcāla, the son of Gopati, was borne on horses that had the complexion of red antelopes, with white streaks on their bodies.

पंचाल के गोपति के पुत्र सिंहसेन उन घोड़ों पर सवार थे जिनका रंग लाल मृग जैसा था और उनके शरीर पर सफेद धारियाँ थीं।

पाञ्चालानां नरव्याघ्रो यः ख्यातो जनमेजयः तस्य सर्षपपुष्पाणां तुल्यवर्णा हयोत्तमाः

The tiger among the Pāñcāla-s was known by the name of Janamejaya. He was on supreme horses that had the colour of mustard flowers.

पंचालों के बीच बाघ को जनमेजय के नाम से जाना जाता था। वह सरसों के फूलों के रंग वाले सर्वोच्च घोड़ों पर सवार था।

माषवर्णास्तु जवना बृहन्तो हेममालिनः दधिपृष्ठाश्चन्द्रमुखाः पाञ्चाल्यमवहन्द्रुतम्

There were large and swift horses that possessed the colour of straw. They had golden harnesses. Their backs were like curd and their mouths were like the moon. These bore Pāñcāla.

वहाँ बड़े और तेज़ घोड़े थे जिनका रंग भूसे जैसा था। उनके पास सुनहरे हार्नेस थे। उनकी पीठ दही के समान और मुँह चन्द्रमा के समान थे। इनसे पंचाल उत्पन्न हुआ।

शूराश्च भद्रकाश्चैव शरकाण्डनिभा हयाः पद्मकिञ्जल्कवर्णाभा दण्डधारमुदावहन्

There were brave and gentle steeds that had the hue of reeds. These were as dazzling as the filaments of lotuses and they bore Daṇḍadhāra.

वहाँ शूरवीर और सौम्य घोड़े थे जिनका रंग नरकट के समान था। ये कमल के तन्तुओं के समान चमकदार थे और इनमें दण्डधार धारण किये हुए थे।

बिभ्रतो हेममालाश्च चक्रवाकोदरा हयाः कोसलाधिपतेः पुत्रं सुक्षत्रं वाजिनोऽवहन्

There were horses that were resplendent in golden harnesses, with stomachs with the complexion of cakravāka birds. These bore Sukṣatra, the son of the king of Kosalā.

वहाँ ऐसे घोड़े थे जो सुनहरी पट्टियों में शोभायमान थे, जिनके पेट चक्रवाक पक्षियों के समान थे। इनसे कोसल के राजा का पुत्र सुक्षत्र उत्पन्न हुआ।

शबलास्तु बृहन्तोऽश्वा दान्ता जाम्बूनदस्रजः युद्धे सत्यधृतिं क्षैमिमवहन्प्रांशवः शुभाः

There were giant, speckled and controlled horses, caparisoned in gold. These bore Satyadhṛti, who was skilled in fighting.

वहाँ विशाल, धब्बेदार और नियंत्रित घोड़े थे, जो सोने से सजे हुए थे। इनसे सत्यधृति उत्पन्न हुई, जो युद्ध में कुशल थी।

एकवर्णेन सर्वेण ध्वजेन कवचेन च अश्वैश्च धनुषा चैव शुक्लैः शुक्लो न्यवर्तत

शुक्ल उसी सफ़ेद रंग की हर चीज़ के साथ आगे बढ़े - ध्वज, कवच, घोड़े और धनुष।

समुद्रसेनपुत्रं तु सामुद्रा रुद्रतेजसम् अश्वाः शशाङ्कसदृशाश्चन्द्रदेवमुदावहन्

समुद्रसेन का पुत्र, चन्द्रसेन, अपनी शक्ति में भयानक था। वह ऐसे घोड़ों पर सवार था जो चंद्रमा के समान थे और समुद्र के तट पर पाले गए थे।

रथसेना युद्ध में अजेय थी। वह सर्वोत्तम घोड़ों पर सवार था, उसका रंग मूंगफली के फूलों जैसा था, उसके शरीर पर सफेद और लाल धारियाँ थीं।

यं तु सर्वमनुष्येभ्यः प्राहुः शूरतरं नृपम् तं पटच्चरहन्तारं शुकवर्णावहन्हयाः

पटाचारों को मारने वाला राजा सभी मनुष्यों में सबसे बहादुर माना जाता है। वह तोते के रंग वाले घोड़ों पर पैदा हुआ था।

चित्रायुधं चित्रमाल्यं चित्रवर्मायुधध्वजम् ऊहुः किंशुकपुष्पाणां तुल्यवर्णा हयोत्तमाः

Citrāyudha was adorned in colourful garlands. He possessed colourful armour, weapons and standards. He was borne on the best of horses, with a complexion like that of kiṃśuka flowers.

चित्रायुध को रंग-बिरंगी मालाओं से सजाया गया था। उसके पास रंगीन कवच, हथियार और मानक थे। वह सर्वोत्तम घोड़ों पर सवार था, उसका रंग किंशुक फूलों के समान था।

Citrā advanced, adorned with gems and with colourful guards for his chariot, standard and bow. His horses, standards and pennants were colourful.

चित्र, रत्नों से सुसज्जित और अपने रथ, ध्वज और धनुष के लिए रंगीन रक्षकों के साथ आगे बढ़ा। उनके घोड़े, ध्वज और पताकाएँ रंग-बिरंगे थे।

ये तु पुष्करपत्रस्य तुल्यवर्णा हयोत्तमाः ते रोचमानस्य सुतं हेमवर्णमुदावहन्

Hemavarṇa, Rocamānā's son, was on the best of horses, with complexions like that of lotus leaves.

रोक्मण का पुत्र हेमवर्ण श्रेष्ठ घोड़ों पर सवार था, उसका रंग कमल के पत्तों के समान था।

योधाश्च भद्रकाराश्च शरदण्डानुदण्डजाः श्वेताण्डाः कुक्कुटाण्डाभा दण्डकेतुमुदावहन्

Horses with the complexion of āṭarūṣa flowers bore one hundred and forty thousand foremost rāṭha-s who followed Pāṇḍya.

अतरूष पुष्प के रंग वाले घोड़ों पर एक लाख चालीस हजार अग्रणी रथ-रथ सवार थे जो पाण्ड्य के पीछे चल रहे थे।

नानारूपेण वर्णेन नानाकृतिमुखा हयाः रथचक्रध्वजं वीरं घटोत्कचमुदावहन्

The brave Ghaṭotkaca was borne by horses with many different colours and forms. Their mouths were of different types and he had the wheel of a chariot on his standard.

बहादुर घटोत्कच कई अलग-अलग रंगों और रूपों वाले घोड़ों पर सवार था। उनके मुख विभिन्न प्रकार के थे और उनके ध्वज पर रथ का पहिया था।

सुवर्णवर्णा धर्मज्ञमनीकस्थं युधिष्ठिरम् राजश्रेष्ठं हयश्रेष्ठाः सर्वतः पृष्ठतोऽन्वयुः वर्णैश्चोच्चावचैर्दिव्यैः सदश्वानां प्रभद्रकाः

Yudhiṣṭhira was knowledgeable about dharma and the best of horses surrounded that best of kings from every direction and followed him at the rear. They possessed golden complexions. There were Prabhadraka-s on well-trained and divine horses, with many different kinds of colours.

युधिष्ठिर धर्म के ज्ञाता थे और सर्वश्रेष्ठ घोड़ों ने उन सर्वश्रेष्ठ राजाओं को हर दिशा से घेर लिया और पीछे से उनके पीछे चले। वे सुनहरे रंग के स्वामी थे। अनेक प्रकार के रंगों से सजे, सुप्रशिक्षित और दिव्य घोड़ों पर प्रभद्रक सवार थे।

ते यत्ता भीमसेनेन सहिताः काञ्चनध्वजाः प्रत्यदृश्यन्त राजेन्द्र सेन्द्रा इव दिवौकसः

They possessed golden standards and made endeavours, together with Bhīmasena. O Indra among kings! He was seen to be like Indra, with the residents of heaven.

अत्यरोचत तान्सर्वान्धृष्टद्युम्नः समागतान् सर्वाण्यपि च सैन्यानि भारद्वाजोऽत्यरोचत

धृष्टद्युम्न को ख़ुशी हुई कि वे सभी एक साथ आगे बढ़ रहे थे। लेकिन भारद्वाज का पुत्र उन सभी सैनिकों से आगे निकल गया।
