संजय उवाच स्रंसन्त इव मज्जानस्तावकानां भयान्नृप तौ दृष्ट्वा समतिक्रान्तौ वासुदेवधनंजयौ

Sañjaya said: O king! On seeing that Vāsudeva and Dhanañjayā had penetrated, the kings on your side were immersed in fear.

संजय ने कहा: हे राजा! यह देखकर कि वासुदेव और धनंजय घुस आये हैं, आपके पक्ष के राजा भय में डूब गये।

सर्वे तु प्रतिसंरब्धा ह्रीमन्तः सत्त्वचोदिताः स्थिरीबूता महात्मानः प्रत्यगच्छन्धनंजयम्

All of those great-souled ones were both angry and ashamed and were immobile. But having been urged by their spirits, they proceeded towards Dhanañjayā.

वे सभी महात्मा क्रोधित और लज्जित थे तथा स्थिर थे। लेकिन अपनी आत्माओं से आग्रह करने पर, वे धनंजय की ओर आगे बढ़े।

ये गताः पाण्डवं युद्धे क्रोधामर्षसमन्विताः तेऽद्यापि न निवर्तन्ते सिन्धवः सागरादिव

However, those who were driven by anger and intolerance and went to fight with Pāṇḍava did not return, like rivers heading towards the ocean.

हालाँकि, जो लोग क्रोध और असहिष्णुता से प्रेरित होकर पांडवों से युद्ध करने गए थे, वे समुद्र की ओर जाने वाली नदियों की तरह वापस नहीं लौटे।

असन्तस्तु न्यवर्तन्त वेदेभ्य इव नास्तिकाः नरकं भजमानास्ते प्रत्यपद्यन्त किल्बिषम्

Those who were not virtuous fled, like atheists turning away from the Veda-s. They committed sins and served the cause of hell.

जो लोग सदाचारी नहीं थे वे भाग गए, जैसे नास्तिक वेदों से विमुख हो गए। उन्होंने पाप किये और नरक की सेवा की।

तावतीत्य रथानीकं विमुक्तौ पुरुषर्षभौ ददृशाते यथा राहोरास्यान्मुक्तौ प्रभाकरौ

Those two bulls among men crossed over and freed themselves from that array of chariots and could be seen, like the sun and the moon freed from Rāhu's mouth.

वे दोनों मनुष्य बैल पार हो गए और अपने आप को रथों की उस श्रृंखला से मुक्त कर लिया और देखा जा सकता था, जैसे सूर्य और चंद्रमा राहु के मुख से मुक्त हो गए थे।

मत्स्याविव महाजालं विदार्य विगतज्वरौ तथा कृष्णावदृश्येतां सेनाजालं विदार्य तत्

They were like fish that had broken through a large net and were now devoid of fever. Thus did the two Kṛṣṇās look, after having broken through that net of soldiers.

वे उन मछलियों की तरह थे जो एक बड़े जाल को तोड़ चुकी थीं और अब बुखार से रहित थीं। सैनिकों के उस जाल को तोड़ने के बाद, दोनों कृष्ण इस प्रकार दिखे।

विमुक्तौ शस्त्रसंबाधाद्द्रोणानीकात्सुदुर्भिदात् अदृश्येतां महात्मानौ कालसूर्याविवोदितौ

They freed themselves from Droṇa's extremely impenetrable array, obstructed by weapons. Those great-souled ones were seen, like suns that had arisen at the end of a yuga.

उन्होंने द्रोण के अस्त्र-शस्त्रों से बाधित अत्यंत अभेद्य व्यूह से स्वयं को मुक्त कर लिया। वे महापुरुष युग के अंत में उदय हुए सूर्य के समान दिखाई देने लगे।

अस्त्रसंबाधनिर्मुक्तौ विमुक्तौ शस्त्रसंकटात् अदृश्येतां महात्मानौ शत्रुसंबाधकारिणौ

They were liberated from that obstruction of weapons and freed from that danger of weapons. Those great-souled ones could now be seen, creating obstructions for the enemy.

वे शस्त्रों की उस बाधा से मुक्त हो गये, शस्त्रों के उस खतरे से मुक्त हो गये। वे महानुभाव अब शत्रु के लिए बाधाएँ उत्पन्न करते हुए देखे जा सकते थे।

विमुक्तौ ज्वलनस्पर्शान्मकरास्याज्झषाविव व्यक्षोभयेतां सेनां तौ समुद्रं मकराविव

It was as if they had been freed from the touch of a fire, or like fish freed from the mouth of a makara. Instead, those two agitated the soldiers, like the two makara-s of the ocean.

यह ऐसा था जैसे वे आग के स्पर्श से मुक्त हो गए हों, या मछली मकर के मुख से मुक्त हो गई हो। इसके बजाय, उन दोनों ने समुद्र के दो मकरों की तरह सैनिकों को उत्तेजित कर दिया।

तावकास्तव पुत्राश्च द्रोणानीकस्थयोस्तयोः नैतौ तरिष्यतो द्रोणमिति चक्रुस्तदा मतिम्

When they were stationed inside Droṇa's array, those on your side and your sons had held the view that they would not be able to cross beyond Droṇa.

जब वे द्रोण की व्यूह के अंदर तैनात थे, तो आपके पक्ष के लोगों और आपके पुत्रों ने यह मान लिया था कि वे द्रोण से आगे नहीं बढ़ पाएंगे।

तौ तु दृष्ट्वा व्यतिक्रान्तौ द्रोणानीकं महाद्युती नाशशंसुर्महाराज सिन्धुराजस्य जीवितम्

O great king! On seeing that those two immensely radiant ones had passed beyond Droṇa's array, they were no longer assured about the king of Sindhu remaining alive.

हे महान राजा! यह देखकर कि वे दोनों अत्यंत तेजस्वी पुरुष द्रोण के व्यूह के पार चले गये, उन्हें सिन्धुराज के जीवित रहने का निश्चय न रहा।

आशा बलवती राजन्पुत्राणामभवत्तव द्रोणहार्दिक्ययोः कृष्णौ न मोक्ष्येते इति प्रभो

O king! O lord! Earlier, your sons had possessed the strong hope that the two Kṛṣṇās would not be able to free themselves from Droṇa and Hārdikya.

हे राजा! हे भगवान! पहले, आपके पुत्रों को यह प्रबल आशा थी कि दोनों कृष्ण स्वयं को द्रोण और हार्दिक्य से मुक्त नहीं कर पाएंगे।

तामाशां विफलां कृत्वा निस्तीर्णौ तौ परंतपौ द्रोणानीकं महाराज भोजानीकं च दुस्तरम्

O great king! But negating those hopes, those two scorchers of enemies passed beyond Droṇa's array and Bhojā's impenetrable array.

हे महान राजा! लेकिन उन आशाओं को नकारते हुए, शत्रुओं को झुलसाने वाले वे दोनों द्रोण की व्यूह और भोज की अभेद्य व्यूह रचना को पार कर गए।

अथ दृष्ट्वा व्यतिक्रान्तौ ज्वलिताविव पावकौ निराशाः सिन्धुराजस्य जीवितं नाशशंसिरे

Having crossed, they were seen to be like blazing fires. Everyone was driven to despair and was certain that the king of Sindhu would no longer remain alive.

पार करने के बाद वे धधकती हुई आग के समान दिखाई देने लगे। हर कोई निराशा में डूब गया और उसे यकीन हो गया कि सिंधु का राजा अब जीवित नहीं रहेगा।

मिथश्च समभाषेतामभीतौ भयवर्धनौ जयद्रथवधे वाचस्तास्ताः कृष्णधनंजयौ

Kṛṣṇā and Dhanañjayā began to fearlessly converse among themselves about Jayadratha's slaying, thus increasing the terror of the enemy.

कृष्ण और धनंजय निडर होकर जयद्रथ के वध के बारे में आपस में बातचीत करने लगे, जिससे शत्रु का आतंक बढ़ गया।

असौ मध्ये कृतः षड्भिर्धार्तराष्ट्रैर्महारथैः चक्षुर्विषयसंप्राप्तो न नौ मोक्ष्यति सैन्धवः

"He has been placed in the midst of six mahāratha-s from the side of Dhṛtarāṣṭra. But once he is seen, Saindhava will not escape us.

"उन्हें धृतराष्ट्र की ओर से छह महारथों के बीच में रखा गया है। लेकिन एक बार जब वह दिखाई देंगे, तो सैंधव हमसे बच नहीं पाएंगे।

यद्यस्य समरे गोप्ता शक्रो देवगणैः सह तथाप्येनं हनिष्याव इति कृष्णावभाषताम्

Even if he is protected in the battle by Śākra and the masses of gods, I will still kill him." This is what he told Kṛṣṇā.

भले ही वह युद्ध में शक्र और देवताओं द्वारा संरक्षित हो, फिर भी मैं उसे मार डालूँगा।" यही उन्होंने कृष्ण से कहा था।

इति कृष्णौ महाबाहू मिथः कथयतां तदा सिन्धुराजमवेक्षन्तौ तत्पुत्रास्तव शुश्रुवुः

Thus did the two mighty-armed Kṛṣṇās converse with each other, while looking for the king of Sindhu. Your sons heard this.

इस प्रकार सिन्धु के राजा की तलाश करते हुए दोनों महाबाहु कृष्णों ने आपस में बातचीत की। यह तुम्हारे पुत्रों ने सुना।

अतीत्य मरुधन्वेव प्रयान्तौ तृषितौ गजौ पीत्वा वारि समाश्वस्तौ तथैवास्तामरिंदमौ

They were like two thirsty elephants that had passed through a desert and were now assured after having drunk water.

वे दो प्यासे हाथियों की तरह थे जो रेगिस्तान से गुज़रे थे और अब पानी पीकर निश्चिंत हो गए थे।

व्याघ्रसिंहगजाकीर्णानतिक्रम्येव पर्वतान् अदृश्येतां महाबाहू यथा मृत्युजरातिगौ

Those two scorchers of enemies seemed to have crossed over mountains infested by tigers, lions and elephants. Those mighty-armed ones seemed to have overcome death and disease.

ऐसा प्रतीत होता था कि शत्रुओं को झुलसाने वाले वे दोनों बाघ, सिंह और हाथियों से भरे पर्वतों को पार कर गये हैं। ऐसा प्रतीत होता था कि उन महाबाहुओं ने मृत्यु और बीमारी पर विजय पा ली है।

तथा हि मुखवर्णोऽयमनयोरिति मेनिरे तावका दृश्य मुक्तौ तौ विक्रोशन्ति स्म सर्वतः

On seeing that those two had been freed, all those on your side shrieked and thought that the complexion on their faces was terrible.

यह देखकर कि उन दोनों को मुक्त कर दिया गया है, आपके पक्ष के सभी लोग चीख पड़े और सोचा कि उनके चेहरे का रंग बहुत भयानक था।

द्रोणादाशीविषाकाराज्ज्वलितादिव पावकात् अन्येभ्यः पार्थिवेभ्यश्च भास्वन्ताविव भास्करौ

They had been freed from Droṇa, who was like a virulent serpent, or as if from a blazing fire, and also from the other kings. They were as radiant as two suns.

वे द्रोण से, जो उग्र सर्प के समान थे, या धधकती आग के समान थे, तथा अन्य राजाओं से भी मुक्त हो गये थे। वे दो सूर्यों के समान तेजस्वी थे।

तौ मुक्तौ सागरप्रख्याद्द्रोणानीकादरिंदमौ अदृश्येतां मुदा युक्तौ समुत्तीर्यार्णवं यथा

Those two scorchers of enemies had been freed from Droṇa's array, which was like an ocean. They were seen to be extremely delighted, like those who had crossed a sea.

वे दोनों शत्रुओं को झुलसाने वाले द्रोण के व्यूह से, जो समुद्र के समान था, मुक्त हो गये थे। वे समुद्र पार कर आये हुए लोगों के समान अत्यंत प्रसन्न दिखाई दे रहे थे।

शस्त्रौघान्महतो मुक्तौ द्रोणहार्दिक्यरक्षितान् रोचमानावदृश्येतामिन्द्राग्न्योः सदृशौ रणे

They had been freed from a great shower of weapons, protected by Droṇa and Hārdikya. They were seen to be blazing in that battle, like Indra or Agni.

वे द्रोण और हार्दिक्य द्वारा संरक्षित, हथियारों की एक महान वर्षा से मुक्त हो गए थे। वे उस युद्ध में इन्द्र या अग्नि के समान प्रज्वलित होते हुए दिखाई दे रहे थे।

उद्भिन्नरुधिरौ कृष्णौ भारद्वाजस्य सायकैः शितैश्चितौ व्यरोचेतां कर्णिकारैरिवाचलौ

Because of the sharp arrows of Bhāradvāja's son, there was blood on the two Kṛṣṇās and they were as beautiful as mountains with karṇikāra trees.

भरद्वाज पुत्र के तीक्ष्ण बाणों के कारण दोनों कृष्णों का रक्तपात हो गया और वे कर्णिकार वृक्षों वाले पर्वतों के समान सुन्दर हो गये।

द्रोणग्राहह्रदान्मुक्तौ शक्त्याशीविषसंकटात् अयःशरोग्रमकरात्क्षत्रियप्रवराम्भसः

They had crossed over a lake in which Droṇa was the crocodile, lances were virulent serpents, iron arrows were makara-s and kṣatriya-s were the deep water.

वे एक झील को पार कर गए थे जिसमें द्रोण मगरमच्छ थे, भाले भयंकर साँप थे, लोहे के तीर मकर थे और क्षत्रिय गहरे पानी थे।

ज्याघोषतलनिर्ह्रादाद्गदानिस्त्रिंशविद्युतः द्रोणास्त्रमेघान्निर्मुक्तौ सूर्येन्दू तिमिरादिव

They had been freed from the cloud that was Droṇa's weapons, where thunder was the twang of bowstrings and the slapping of palms and clubs and swords were the lightning. They were like the sun and the moon, freed of darkness.

वे उस बादल से मुक्त हो गए थे जो द्रोण के हथियार थे, जहां गड़गड़ाहट धनुष की प्रत्यंचा की टंकार थी और हथेलियों और लाठियों और तलवारों की थाप बिजली थी। वे अंधकार से मुक्त सूर्य और चंद्रमा की तरह थे।

बाहुभ्यामिव संतीर्णौ सिन्धुषष्ठाः समुद्रगाः तपान्ते सरितः पूर्णा महाग्राहसमाकुलाः

With their arms, they had swum across the six rivers that head to the ocean, at the end of the summer, when the waters are overflowing and are also infested with giant crocodiles.

गर्मियों के अंत में, जब पानी उफान पर होता है और विशाल मगरमच्छों से भी घिरे होते हैं, तो वे अपनी भुजाओं के साथ समुद्र की ओर जाने वाली छह नदियों को तैरकर पार कर गए थे।

इति कृष्णौ महेष्वासौ यशसा लोकविश्रुतौ सर्वभूतान्यमन्यन्त द्रोणास्त्रबलविस्मयात्

The two Kṛṣṇās were great archers and their renown was famous in the world. But all the beings were astounded at their having withstood the strength of Droṇa's weapons.

दोनों कृष्ण महान धनुर्धर थे और उनकी प्रसिद्धि दुनिया में प्रसिद्ध थी। लेकिन सभी प्राणी द्रोण के हथियारों की ताकत का सामना करने पर आश्चर्यचकित थे।

जयद्रथं समीपस्थमवेक्षन्तौ जिघांसया रुरुं निपाने लिप्सन्तौ व्याघ्रवत्तावतिष्ठताम्

Having approached, they looked around for Jayadratha, driven by the desire to kill. They looked like two tigers who wished to descend on ruru deer.

पास आकर, उन्होंने मारने की इच्छा से प्रेरित होकर, जयद्रथ को चारों ओर देखा। वे दो बाघों की तरह लग रहे थे जो रुरु हिरण पर उतरना चाहते थे।

यथा हि मुखवर्णोऽयमनयोरिति मेनिरे तव योधा महाराज हतमेव जयद्रथम्

O great king! Such was the complexion on their faces that all your warriors thought that Jayadratha had already been slain.

हे महान राजा! उनके चेहरे का रंग ऐसा था कि आपके सभी योद्धाओं को लगा कि जयद्रथ पहले ही मारा जा चुका है।

लोहिताक्षौ महाबाहू संयत्तौ कृष्णपाण्डवौ सिन्धुराजमभिप्रेक्ष्य हृष्टौ व्यनदतां मुहुः

The mighty-armed Kṛṣṇā and Pāṇḍava were together and their eyes were coppery red. They were delighted on seeing the king of Sindhu and roared repeatedly.

महाबाहु कृष्ण और पांडव एक साथ थे और उनकी आँखें तांबे जैसी लाल थीं। सिंधुराज को देखकर वे प्रसन्न हुए और बारंबार गर्जना करने लगे।

शौरेरभीशुहस्तस्य पार्थस्य च धनुष्मतः तयोरासीत्प्रतिभ्राजः सूर्यपावकयोरिव

The resplendence of Śauri with the reins and Pārtha with the bow was like that of the sun or the fire.

लगाम के साथ सौरि और धनुष के साथ पार्थ की शोभा सूर्य या अग्नि के समान थी।

हर्ष एव तयोरासीद्द्रोणानीकप्रमुक्तयोः समीपे सैन्धवं दृष्ट्वा श्येनयोरामिषं यथा

They were delighted at having been freed from Droṇa's array and at having seen that Saindhava was nearby, like two hawks at the sight of meat.

वे द्रोण के व्यूह से मुक्त होकर और यह देखकर प्रसन्न हुए कि सैन्धव निकट ही हैं, जैसे मांस देखकर दो बाज प्रसन्न होते हैं।

तौ तु सैन्धवमालोक्य वर्तमानमिवान्तिके सहसा पेततुः क्रुद्धौ क्षिप्रं श्येनाविवामिषे

On seeing that Saindhava was present nearby, they were like two hawks at the sight of meat. They descended, swiftly, angrily and suddenly.

पास ही सैन्धव उपस्थित थे, यह देखकर वे मांस देखकर दो बाजों के समान हो गये। वे तेज़ी से, गुस्से से और अचानक नीचे उतरे।

तौ तु दृष्ट्वा व्यतिक्रान्तौ हृषीकेशधनंजयौ सिन्धुराजस्य रक्षार्थं पराक्रान्तः सुतस्तव

Having seen that Hṛṣīkeśa and Dhanañjayā had crossed, your valiant son, wished to protect the king of Sindhu.

यह देखकर कि हृषिकेश और धनंजय पार हो गये हैं, आपके वीर पुत्र ने सिन्धु के राजा की रक्षा करने की कामना की।

द्रोणेनाबद्धकवचो राजा दुर्योधनस्तदा ययावेकरथेनाजौ हयसंस्कारवित्प्रभो

O lord! King Duryodhana had the armour that Droṇa had fastened on him. He was skilled in handling horses and rushed on a single chariot.

हे भगवान! राजा दुर्योधन के पास वह कवच था जो द्रोण ने उसे बांध रखा था। वह घोड़ों को संभालने में कुशल था और एक ही रथ पर दौड़ता था।

कृष्णपार्थौ महेष्वासौ व्यतिक्रम्याथ ते सुतः अग्रतः पुण्डरीकाक्षं प्रतीयाय नराधिप

Your son overtook the great archers, Kṛṣṇā and Pārtha. O lord of men! Having gone on ahead, he turned and faced Puṇḍarīkākṣa.

आपके पुत्र ने महान धनुर्धर कृष्ण और पार्थ को पछाड़ दिया। हे मनुष्यों के स्वामी! आगे जाकर वह मुड़ा और उसका सामना पुण्डरीकाक्ष से हुआ।

ततः सर्वेषु सैन्येषु वादित्राणि प्रहृष्टवत् प्रावाद्यन्समतिक्रान्ते तव पुत्रे धनंजयम्

At this, all the soldiers delightedly sounded musical instruments, since your son had overtaken Dhanañjayā.

इस पर, सभी सैनिकों ने खुशी से संगीत वाद्ययंत्र बजाया, क्योंकि आपका पुत्र धनंजय से आगे निकल गया था।

सिंहनादरवाश्चासञ्शङ्खदुन्दुभिमिश्रिताः दृष्ट्वा दुर्योधनं तत्र कृष्णयोः प्रमुखे स्थितम्

There were roars like lions, mixed with sounds of conch shells and drums, on seeing that Duryodhana was stationed there, in front of the two Kṛṣṇās.

दोनों कृष्णों के सामने दुर्योधन खड़ा था, यह देखकर शंख और नगाड़ों की मिश्रित ध्वनि के साथ सिंहों जैसी दहाड़ें होने लगीं।

ये च ते सिन्धुराजस्य गोप्तारः पावकोपमाः ते प्रहृष्यन्त समरे दृष्ट्वा पुत्रं तवाभिभो

O lord! There were also those, like fires, who had been assigned to protect the king of Sindhu. In that battle, they were also delighted to see your son.

हे भगवान! आग की तरह वे भी थे, जिन्हें सिंधु के राजा की रक्षा के लिए नियुक्त किया गया था। उस युद्ध में आपके पुत्र को देखकर वे भी प्रसन्न हुए।

दृष्ट्वा दुर्योधनं कृष्णस्त्वतिक्रान्तं सहानुगम् अब्रवीदर्जुनं राजन्प्राप्तकालमिदं वचः

O king! On seeing that Duryodhana and his followers had crossed them, Kṛṣṇā spoke these words, which were appropriate for the occasion, to Arjuna.

हे राजा! यह देखकर कि दुर्योधन और उसके अनुयायी उनसे आगे निकल गए हैं, कृष्ण ने अर्जुन से ये शब्द कहे, जो अवसर के लिए उपयुक्त थे।
