संजय उवाच ततः स कदनं चक्रे रिपूणां द्रोणनन्दनः युगान्ते सर्वभूतानां कालसृष्ट इवान्तकः

Sañjaya said: Droṇa's son caused a great carnage among the enemy. He was like the Destroyer, created by destiny to destroy all beings at the end of a yuga.

संजय ने कहा: द्रोण के पुत्र ने शत्रुओं में भारी नरसंहार किया। वह एक विनाशक की तरह था, जिसे एक युग के अंत में सभी प्राणियों को नष्ट करने के लिए नियति द्वारा बनाया गया था।

ध्वजद्रुमं शस्त्रशृङ्गं हतनागमहाशिलम् अश्वकिंपुरुषाकीर्णं शरासनलतावृतम्

The standards were like trees. The weapons were like mountain peaks. The slain elephants were like giant mountains. The horses were strewn around like kimpuruṣa-s. The bows were like clumps of reeds.

मानक पेड़ों की तरह थे। हथियार पर्वत शिखरों के समान थे। मारे गये हाथी विशाल पर्वत के समान थे। घोड़े किंपुरुषों की तरह चारों ओर बिखरे हुए थे। धनुष सरकंडों के गुच्छों के समान थे।

शूलक्रव्यादसंघुष्टं भूतयक्षगणाकुलम् निहत्य शात्रवान्भल्लैः सोऽचिनोद्देहपर्वतम्

There were spears and the roars of carnivorous creatures. The place was full of large numbers of demons and yakṣa-s. He created a mountain of corpses.

ततो वेगेन महता विनद्य स नरर्षभः प्रतिज्ञां श्रावयामास पुनरेव तवात्मजम्

The bull among men then roared powerfully and loudly and again made your son hear his oath.

मनुष्यों के बीच बैल ने तब शक्तिशाली और जोर से गर्जना की और आपके बेटे को फिर से अपनी शपथ सुनाई।

यस्माद्युध्यन्तमाचार्यं धर्मकञ्चुकमास्थितः मुञ्च शस्त्रमिति प्राह कुन्तीपुत्रो युधिष्ठिरः

"Dharma's son, Yudhiṣṭhira, disguised himself in the cloak of dharma. While the preceptor was fighting, he made him cast aside his weapons.

"धर्म के पुत्र, युधिष्ठिर ने खुद को धर्म के लबादे में छिपा लिया। जब गुरु लड़ रहे थे, तो उन्होंने उनसे अपने हथियार अलग रखवा दिए।

तस्मात्संपश्यतस्तस्य द्रावयिष्यामि वाहिनीम् विद्राव्य सत्यं हन्तास्मि पापं पाञ्चाल्यमेव तु

Therefore, while he looks on, I will drive away his soldiers. I tell you truthfully that I will rout them and kill the wicked Pāñcāla.

इसलिये, जब तक वह देखता रहेगा, मैं उसके सैनिकों को भगा दूँगा। मैं तुमसे सच कहता हूं कि मैं उन्हें परास्त कर दूंगा और दुष्ट पंचाल को मार डालूंगा।

सर्वानेतान्हनिष्यामि यदि योत्स्यन्ति मां रणे सत्यं ते प्रतिजानामि परावर्तय वाहिनीम्

I will kill all of them, if they fight against me in the battle. Know this to be the truth. Therefore, make your soldiers return."

यदि वे युद्ध में मेरे विरुद्ध लड़ेंगे तो मैं उन सबको मार डालूँगा। इसे सत्य समझो. इसलिए, अपने सैनिकों को वापस कर दें।”

तच्छ्रुत्वा तव पुत्रस्तु वाहिनीं पर्यवर्तयत् सिंहनादेन महता व्यपोह्य सुमहद्भयम्

On hearing these words, your son made his soldiers return, dispelling their great fear with a loud roar, like that of a lion.

ये बातें सुनकर आपके पुत्र ने सिंह के समान तीव्र गर्जना से उनके महान् भय को दूर करते हुए अपने सैनिकों को लौटा दिया।

ततः समागमो राजन्कुरुपाण्डवसेनयोः पुनरेवाभवत्तीव्रः पूर्णसागरयोरिव

O king! The Kuru and Pāṇḍava soldiers clashed again. There was a fierce encounter, like that between two swelling oceans.

हे राजा! कुरु और पांडव सैनिक फिर से भिड़ गए। दो उफनते महासागरों के समान भीषण मुठभेड़ हुई।

संरब्धा हि स्थिरीभूता द्रोणपुत्रेण कौरवाः उदग्राः पाण्डुपाञ्चाला द्रोणस्य निधनेन च

Droṇa's son incited and rallied the Kaurava-s. At Droṇa's death, the Pāṇḍu-s and the Pāñcāla-s also became fierce.

द्रोण के पुत्र ने कौरवों को उकसाया और एकजुट किया। द्रोण की मृत्यु पर पाण्डु और पंचाल भी उग्र हो गये।

तेषां परमहृष्टानां जयमात्मनि पश्यताम् संरब्धानां महावेगः प्रादुरासीद्रणाजिरे

Both sides were extremely cheerful and saw themselves as victorious. They were enraged, and with great force, advanced on that field of battle.

दोनों पक्ष अत्यंत प्रसन्न थे और स्वयं को विजयी मान रहे थे। वे क्रोधित हो गये और बड़ी ताकत के साथ युद्ध के मैदान में आगे बढ़े।

यथा शिलोच्चये शैलः सागरे सागरो यथा प्रतिहन्येत राजेन्द्र तथासन्कुरुपाण्डवाः

O Indra among kings! It was like a mountain clashing against a mountain, or an ocean against another ocean. That was the way the Kuru-s and the Pāṇḍava-s rushed against each other.

हे राजाओं में इन्द्र! यह ऐसा था जैसे एक पहाड़ का किसी पहाड़ से, या एक महासागर का दूसरे महासागर से टकराव हो रहा हो। इसी तरह कुरु-पांडव एक-दूसरे पर टूट पड़े।

ततः शङ्खसहस्राणि भेरीणामयुतानि च अवादयन्त संहृष्टाः कुरुपाण्डवसैनिकाः

The Kuru and Pāṇḍava soldiers were delighted and blew on thousands of conch shells and sounded tens of thousands of drums.

कुरु और पांडव सैनिक प्रसन्न हुए और उन्होंने हजारों शंख बजाए और हजारों नगाड़े बजाए।

ततो निर्मथ्यमानस्य सागरस्येव निस्वनः अभवत्तस्य सैन्यस्य सुमहानद्भुतोपमः

The great roar that arose from the soldiers was like the roar of the ocean when it is churned. It was extraordinary.

सैनिकों से जो महान गर्जना उत्पन्न हुई वह समुद्र के मंथन के समान थी। यह असाधारण था.

प्रादुश्चक्रे ततो द्रौणिरस्त्रं नारायणं तदा अभिसंधाय पाण्डूनां पाञ्चालानां च वाहिनीम्

Then, Droṇa's son invoked the nārāyaṇa weapon. He aimed it at the Pāṇḍu and Pāñcāla armies.

तब द्रोण के पुत्र ने नारायण अस्त्र का प्रयोग किया। उसने इसका लक्ष्य पाण्डु और पंचाल सेनाओं पर रखा।

प्रादुरासंस्ततो बाणा दीप्ताग्राः खे सहस्रशः पाण्डवान्भक्षयिष्यन्तो दीप्तास्या इव पन्नगाः

Thousands of arrows, flaming at the tips, appeared in the sky and devoured the Pāṇḍava-s, like serpents with flaming mouths.

जलते हुए हजारों बाण आकाश में प्रकट हुए और जलते हुए मुख वाले साँपों की भाँति पाण्डवों को भस्म कर डाला।

ते दिशः खं च सैन्यं च समावृण्वन्महाहवे मुहूर्ताद्भास्करस्येव राजँल्लोकं गभस्तयः

O king! In that great battle, the directions, the sky and the soldiers were enveloped in an instant, like the world being engulfed by the blazing rays of the sun.

हे राजा! उस महान युद्ध में दिशाएँ, आकाश और सैनिक क्षण भर में ही इस प्रकार छा गये, जैसे सूर्य की तेजस्वी किरणों से सारा संसार आच्छादित हो गया हो।

तथापरे द्योतमाना ज्योतींषीवाम्बरेऽमले प्रादुरासन्महीपाल कार्ष्णायसमया गुडाः

O lord of the earth! After this, iron balls appeared, like blazing stellar bodies in the clear sky.

हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! इसके बाद स्वच्छ आकाश में चमकते तारकीय पिंडों के समान लोहे के गोले प्रकट हुए।

चतुर्दिशं विचित्राश्च शतघ्न्योऽथ हुताशदाः चक्राणि च क्षुरान्तानि मण्डलानीव भास्वतः

The four directions were covered by wonderful śataghnī-s that were like the fire. They possessed wheels and were sharp as razors. They formed circles and blazed.

चारों दिशाएँ अग्नि के समान अद्भुत शतघ्नी से आच्छादित थीं। उनके पास पहिये थे और वे छुरे की तरह तेज़ थे। उन्होंने वृत्त बनाये और आग जलाई।

शस्त्राकृतिभिराकीर्णमतीव भरतर्षभ दृष्ट्वान्तरिक्षमाविग्नाः पाण्डुपाञ्चालसृञ्जयाः

O bull among the Bhārata lineage! The sky was densely covered with these weapons. On seeing this, the Pāṇḍu-s, the Pāñcāla-s and the Sṛñjaya-s became anxious.

हे भरत वंश में बैल! आकाश इन अस्त्र-शस्त्रों से सघन रूप से ढका हुआ था। यह देखकर पाण्डु, पंचाल और सृंजय चिंतित हो गये।

यथा यथा ह्ययुध्यन्त पाण्डवानां महारथाः तथा तथा तदस्त्रं वै व्यवर्धत जनाधिप

O lord of men! Wherever the mahāratha Pāṇḍava-s fought, in those spots, that weapon increased in power. They were slain by that nārāyaṇa weapon.

हे मनुष्यों के स्वामी! जहां-जहां भी पांडव-महारथ युद्ध करते थे, उन-उन स्थानों पर उस हथियार की शक्ति बढ़ जाती थी। वे नारायण के हथियार से मारे गये।

वध्यमानास्तथास्त्रेण तेन नारायणेन वै दह्यमानानलेनेव सर्वतोऽभ्यर्दिता रणे

All of them were consumed, as if by a fire, and became frightened in that battle.

वे सभी मानो आग से जलकर भस्म हो गये और उस युद्ध में भयभीत हो गये।

यथा हि शिशिरापाये दहेत्कक्षं हुताशनः तथा तदस्त्रं पाण्डूनां ददाह ध्वजिनीं प्रभो

O lord! At the end of the winter, a conflagration burns down dry wood. Like that, that weapon consumed the Pāṇḍu soldiers.

हे भगवान! सर्दियों के अंत में, आग की लपटें सूखी लकड़ियों को जला देती हैं। इस प्रकार उस अस्त्र ने पाण्डु सैनिकों को भस्म कर दिया।

आपूर्यमाणेनास्त्रेण सैन्ये क्षीयति चाभिभो जगाम परमं त्रासं धर्मपुत्रो युधिष्ठिरः

On every side, the soldiers were destroyed by that weapon. On seeing this, the lord Yudhiṣṭhira, Dharma's son, was overcome by supreme terror.

उस अस्त्र से सभी ओर सैनिक नष्ट हो गये। यह देखकर धर्मपुत्र भगवान युधिष्ठिर अत्यंत भयभीत हो गये।

द्रवमाणं तु तत्सैन्यं दृष्ट्वा विगतचेतनम् मध्यस्थतां च पार्थस्य धर्मपुत्रोऽब्रवीदिदम्

He saw that his soldiers were running away and in the midst, the Pārtha-s were bereft of their senses. Dharma's son spoke these words.

उन्होंने देखा कि उनके सैनिक भाग रहे थे और बीच में पार्थ-पुत्र अपनी सुध-बुध खो बैठे थे। ये शब्द धर्म के पुत्र ने कहे।

धृष्टद्युम्न पलायस्व सह पाञ्चालसेनया सात्यके त्वं च गच्छस्व वृष्ण्यन्धकवृतो गृहान्

"O Dhṛṣṭadyumna! Run away with the Pāñcāla soldiers. O Sātyaki! Run away home, surrounded by the Vṛṣṇi-s and the Andhaka-s.

"हे धृष्टद्युम्न! पंचाल सैनिकों के साथ भाग जाओ। हे सात्यकि! वृष्णियों और अंधकों से घिरे हुए घर भाग जाओ।"

वासुदेवोऽपि धर्मात्मा करिष्यत्यात्मनः क्षमम् उपदेष्टुं समर्थोऽयं लोकस्य किमुतात्मनः

Vāsudeva, with dharma in his soul, will himself think of means of saving himself. He is capable of instructing the entire world. How can I say anything to him?

वासुदेव, अपनी आत्मा में धर्म के साथ, खुद को बचाने के उपाय के बारे में सोचेंगे। वह संपूर्ण विश्व को निर्देश देने में सक्षम है। मैं उससे कुछ कैसे कह सकता हूं?

संग्रामस्तु न कर्तव्यः सर्वसैन्यान्ब्रवीमि वः अहं हि सह सोदर्यैः प्रवेक्ष्ये हव्यवाहनम्

We should no longer fight. I am saying this to all the soldiers. With my brothers, I will enter the fire.

हमें अब और नहीं लड़ना चाहिए. ये मैं सभी जवानों से कह रहा हूं. मैं अपने भाइयों के साथ अग्नि में प्रवेश करुंगा.

भीष्मद्रोणार्णवं तीर्त्वा संग्रामं भीरुदुस्तरम् अवसत्स्याम्यसलिले सगणो द्रौणिगोष्पदे

In this battle, we have crossed the fierce oceans that are Bhīṣma and Droṇa, extremely difficult for cowards to cross. With all our soldiers, we are now being submerged in this trifle that is Droṇa's son.

इस युद्ध में हमने भीष्म और द्रोण रूपी भयंकर समुद्र को पार कर लिया है, जिसे पार करना कायरों के लिए अत्यंत कठिन है। अपने सभी सैनिकों के साथ, अब हम द्रोण के पुत्र इस त्रिशूल में डूबे हुए हैं।

कामः संपद्यतामस्य बीभत्सोराशु मां प्रति कल्याणवृत्त आचार्यो मया युधि निपातितः

Since the preceptor, who was beneficial towards us, was brought down by me in the battle, let Bībhatsu's wishes towards me swiftly come true.

चूंकि गुरु, जो हमारे प्रति लाभकारी थे, को युद्ध में मेरे द्वारा नीचे लाया गया था, मेरे प्रति बिभात्सु की इच्छाएं शीघ्रता से पूरी हो जाएं।

येन बालः स सौभद्रो युद्धानामविशारदः समर्थैर्बहुभिः क्रूरैर्घातितो नाभिपालितः

The child who was Subhadrā's son was unskilled in fighting. He was slain by many skilled and cruel ones and was not protected by him.

वह बालक जो सुभद्रा का पुत्र था, युद्ध में अयोग्य था। वह कई कुशल और क्रूर लोगों द्वारा मारा गया था और उसके द्वारा उसकी रक्षा नहीं की गई थी।

येनाविब्रुवता प्रश्नं तथा कृष्णा सभां गता उपेक्षिता सपुत्रेण दासभावं नियच्छती

When she was brought into the assembly hall and sought to be made a slave girl, Kṛṣṇā asked him a question. But he, together with his son, ignored her.

जब उसे सभा कक्ष में लाया गया और दासी बनाने की मांग की गई, तो कृष्ण ने उससे एक प्रश्न पूछा। लेकिन उसने अपने बेटे के साथ मिलकर उसे नजरअंदाज कर दिया।

जिघांसुर्धार्तराष्ट्रश्च श्रान्तेष्वश्वेषु फल्गुनम् कवचेन तथा युक्तो रक्षार्थं सैन्धवस्य च

When everyone was exhausted, he gave Dhṛtarāṣṭra's son armour so that he might kill Phālguna and protect Saindhava.

जब सभी लोग थक गए, तो उन्होंने धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र को कवच दिया ताकि वह फाल्गुन को मार सके और सैंधव की रक्षा कर सके।

येन ब्रह्मास्त्रविदुषा पाञ्चालाः सत्यजिन्मुखाः कुर्वाणा मज्जये यत्नं समूला विनिपातिताः

He possessed knowledge about brahmāstra and used it against the Pāñcāla-s, headed by Satyajit. They were making endeavours for your sake and were completely destroyed.

उन्हें ब्रह्मास्त्र के बारे में ज्ञान था और उन्होंने इसका प्रयोग सत्यजीत के नेतृत्व वाले पंचालों के विरुद्ध किया। वे आपके लिये प्रयत्न कर रहे थे और पूरी तरह नष्ट हो गये।

येन प्रव्राज्यमानाश्च राज्याद्वयमधर्मतः निवार्यमाणेनास्माभिरनुगन्तुं तदेषिताः

We were exiled and robbed of our kingdom through adharma. Though those devoted to us sought to restrain him, he asked us to leave.

अधर्म के कारण हमें निर्वासित कर दिया गया और हमारा राज्य छीन लिया गया। हालाँकि हमारे प्रति समर्पित लोगों ने उन्हें रोकने की कोशिश की, लेकिन उन्होंने हमें जाने के लिए कहा।

योऽसावत्यन्तमस्मासु कुर्वाणः सौहृदं परम् हतस्तदर्थे मरणं गमिष्यामि सबान्धवः

Our supreme well-wisher, who has performed many beneficial deeds for us, has been killed. Since he has been slain, with all my relatives, I will advance towards my death."

हमारा परम हितैषी, जिसने हमारे लिये अनेक हितकारी कार्य किये हैं, मारा गया है। चूँकि वह मारा गया है, मेरे सभी रिश्तेदारों के साथ, मैं अपनी मृत्यु की ओर आगे बढ़ूँगा।"

एवं ब्रुवति कौन्तेये दाशार्हस्त्वरितस्ततः निवार्य सैन्यं बाहुभ्यामिदं वचनमब्रवीत्

When Kaunteya had spoken in this way, Dāśārha waved his arms and quickly restrained the soldiers from running away. He spoke these words.

जब कौन्तेय ने इस प्रकार कहा, तो दशार्ह ने अपनी भुजाएँ लहराईं और तुरंत सैनिकों को भागने से रोक दिया। उन्होंने ये शब्द कहे.

शीघ्रं न्यस्यत शस्त्राणि वाहेभ्यश्चावरोहत एष योगोऽत्र विहितः प्रतिघातो महात्मना

"Swiftly lay down your weapons and descend from your mounts and your horses. This is the method of countering, decreed by the great-souled one.

"तेजी से अपने हथियार डाल दो और अपनी सवारी और घोड़ों से उतर जाओ। यह मुकाबला करने की विधि है, जो महान आत्मा ने आदेश दिया है।

द्विपाश्वस्यन्दनेभ्यश्च क्षितिं सर्वेऽवरोहत एवमेतन्न वो हन्यादस्त्रं भूमौ निरायुधान्

All of you descend from the elephants, the horses and the chariots onto the ground. If you are on the ground and without weapons, this weapon will not kill you.

तुम सब हाथी, घोड़े और रथों से भूमि पर उतरो। यदि आप जमीन पर हैं और बिना हथियार के हैं तो यह हथियार आपको नहीं मारेगा।

यथा यथा हि युध्यन्ते योधा ह्यस्त्रबलं प्रति तथा तथा भवन्त्येते कौरवा बलवत्तराः

Wherever warriors fight against the strength of this weapon, in those spots, the Kaurava-s will become stronger.

जहां भी योद्धा इस हथियार की ताकत के खिलाफ लड़ेंगे, उन स्थानों पर कौरव मजबूत हो जाएंगे।

निक्षेप्स्यन्ति च शस्त्राणि वाहनेभ्योऽवरुह्य ये तान्नैतदस्त्रं संग्रामे निहनिष्यति मानवान्

But those men who fling away their weapons and descend from their mounts, will not be slain by this weapon in the battle.

परन्तु जो मनुष्य अपने अस्त्र-शस्त्र छोड़कर अपने पर्वतों से नीचे उतरते हैं, वे युद्ध में इस अस्त्र से नहीं मारे जायेंगे।

ये त्वेतत्प्रतियोत्स्यन्ति मनसापीह केचन निहनिष्यति तान्सर्वान्रसातलगतानपि

But all those who seek to counter it, even in their minds, will be killed, even if they descend to the nether regions."

लेकिन वे सभी जो इसका प्रतिकार करना चाहते हैं, यहां तक ​​कि अपने मन में भी, मारे जाएंगे, भले ही वे पाताल लोक में ही क्यों न उतर जाएं।"

ते वचस्तस्य तच्छ्रुत्वा वासुदेवस्य भारत ईषुः सर्वेऽस्त्रमुत्स्रष्टुं मनोभिः करणेन च

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! On hearing Vāsudeva's words, all of them flung away their weapons and cast aside any thought of fighting, even in their minds.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! वासुदेव की बातें सुनकर उन सभी ने अपने हथियार फेंक दिये और अपने मन में भी युद्ध का विचार त्याग दिया।

तत उत्स्रष्टुकामांस्तानस्त्राण्यालक्ष्य पाण्डवः भीमसेनोऽब्रवीद्राजन्निदं संहर्षयन्वचः

O king! On seeing that they wished to cast aside their weapons, Pāṇḍava Bhīmasena cheerfully spoke these words.

हे राजा! यह देखकर कि वे अपने हथियार त्यागना चाहते हैं, पांडव भीमसेन ने प्रसन्नतापूर्वक ये शब्द कहे।

न कथंचन शस्त्राणि मोक्तव्यानीह केनचित् अहमावारयिष्यामि द्रोणपुत्रास्त्रमाशुगैः

"No one should, under any circumstances, cast aside weapons. I will use my arrows to quickly counter the weapon of Droṇa's son.

"किसी को भी, किसी भी परिस्थिति में, हथियार त्यागने नहीं चाहिए। मैं द्रोण के पुत्र के हथियार का तुरंत मुकाबला करने के लिए अपने तीरों का उपयोग करूंगा।

अथ वाप्यनया गुर्व्या हेमविग्रहया रणे कालवद्विचरिष्यामि द्रौणेरस्त्रं विशातयन्

My heavy club is decorated with gold. In this battle, I will roam around like Death and use it to destroy the weapon of Droṇa's son.

मेरी भारी गदा सोने से सजी हुई है। इस युद्ध में मैं मृत्यु की भाँति घूमूँगा और उसके द्वारा द्रोणपुत्र के अस्त्र को नष्ट कर दूँगा।

न हि मे विक्रमे तुल्यः कश्चिदस्ति पुमानिह यथैव सवितुस्तुल्यं ज्योतिरन्यन्न विद्यते

There is no man who is my equal in valour, just as there is no stellar body that is equal to the sun.

वीरता में मेरे समान कोई मनुष्य नहीं है, जैसे सूर्य के तुल्य कोई तारकीय पिंड नहीं है।

पश्यध्वं मे दृढौ बाहू नागराजकरोपमा समर्थौ पर्वतस्यापि शैशिरस्य निपातने

Behold my firm arms. They are like the trunk of a king of elephants. These are capable of bringing down a mountain, with its summit.

मेरी दृढ़ भुजाओं को देखो। वे हाथियों के राजा की सूंड की तरह हैं। ये किसी पर्वत को उसके शिखर सहित गिराने में सक्षम हैं।

नागायुतसमप्राणो ह्यहमेको नरेष्विह शक्रो यथा प्रतिद्वंद्वो दिवि देवेषु विश्रुतः

I am the only man who has the might of ten thousand elephants. I am without a peer, just as the renowned Śākra is amidst the gods in heaven.

मैं अकेला मनुष्य हूं जिसमें दस हजार हाथियों का बल है। मैं बिना किसी सहकर्मी के हूं, जैसे प्रसिद्ध शक्र स्वर्ग में देवताओं के बीच है।

अद्य पश्यत मे वीर्यं बाह्वोः पीनांसयोर्युधि ज्वलमानस्य दीप्तस्य द्रौणेरस्त्रस्य वारणे

Let them behold the strength of my arms and my broad chest in the battle, as I repulse the flaming and blazing weapon of Droṇa's son.

वे युद्ध में मेरी भुजाओं की शक्ति और मेरी चौड़ी छाती को देखें, जैसे मैं द्रोण के पुत्र के ज्वलनशील और ज्वलन्त अस्त्र का प्रतिकार करता हूँ।

यदि नारायणास्त्रस्य प्रतियोद्धा न विद्यते अद्यैनं प्रतियोत्स्यामि पश्यत्सु कुरुपाण्डुषु

While the Kuru-s and the Pāṇḍu-s look on, if there is no one else who is capable of countering the nārāyaṇa weapon, I will repulse it today."

जब तक कुरु और पाण्डु देखते रहेंगे, यदि कोई और नहीं है जो नारायण अस्त्र का मुकाबला करने में सक्षम हो, तो मैं आज ही इसका प्रतिकार करूंगा।"

एवमुक्त्वा ततो भीमो द्रोणपुत्रमरिंदमः अभ्ययान्मेघघोषेण रथेनादित्यवर्चसा

Having thus spoken, Bhīmā, the scorcher of enemies, advanced against Droṇa's son on a chariot that was as radiant as the sun and roared like the clouds.

ऐसा कहकर शत्रुओं को जलाने वाले भीम सूर्य के समान तेजस्वी तथा बादलों के समान गर्जना करने वाले रथ पर सवार होकर द्रोणपुत्र के विरुद्ध आगे बढ़े।

स एनमिषुजालेन लघुत्वाच्छीघ्रविक्रमः निमेषमात्रेणासाद्य कुन्तीपुत्रोऽभ्यवाकिरत्

Kuntī's son was dexterous, swift and valiant and in a short instant, enveloped him with a net of arrows.

कुंती का पुत्र चतुर, तेज और बहादुर था और उसने कुछ ही पल में उसे बाणों के जाल से घेर लिया।

ततो द्रौणिः प्रहस्यैनमुदासमभिभाष्य च अवाकिरत्प्रदीप्ताग्रैः शरैस्तैरभिमन्त्रितैः

Droṇa's son laughed at this and addressed him. He invoked mantra-s and shrouded him with arrows that flamed at the tips.

द्रोण के पुत्र इस पर हँसे और उन्हें संबोधित किया. उसने मन्त्रों का आह्वान किया और उन तीरों से उसे ढक दिया जो सिरों पर धधक रहे थे।

पन्नगैरिव दीप्तास्यैर्वमद्भिरनलं रणे अवकीर्णोऽभवत्पार्थः स्फुलिङ्गैरिव काञ्चनैः

In that battle, Pārtha was enveloped with these. They were like blazing serpents, with flames emerging from their mouths. They were like golden sparks.

उस युद्ध में पार्थ इन्हीं से घिर गया था। वे धधकते हुए साँपों के समान थे, जिनके मुँह से आग की लपटें निकल रही थीं। वे सुनहरी चिंगारी के समान थे।

तस्य रूपमभूद्राजन्भीमसेनस्य संयुगे खद्योतैरावृतस्येव पर्वतस्य दिनक्षये

O king! In that encounter, Bhīmasena's form was like that of a mountain when the day is done, covered with fireflies.

हे राजा! उस मुठभेड़ में भीमसेन का रूप दिन ढलने पर जुगनुओं से ढका हुआ पर्वत जैसा था।

तदस्त्रं द्रोणपुत्रस्य तस्मिन्प्रतिसमस्यति अवर्धत महाराज यथाग्निरनिलोद्धतः

O great king! That weapon of Droṇa's son was aimed and increased in its influence, like a fire fanned by the wind.

हे महान राजा! द्रोणपुत्र का वह अस्त्र वायु द्वारा भड़काई हुई आग के समान लक्ष्यित और उसके प्रभाव में बढ़ गया था।

विवर्धमानमालक्ष्य तदस्त्रं भीमविक्रमम् पाण्डुसैन्यमृते भीमं सुमहद्भयमाविशत्

On seeing that the weapon, terrible in its power, was increasing in its influence, all the Pāṇḍu soldiers were overcome by great fear, with the exception of Bhīmā.

यह देखकर कि अपनी शक्ति में भयानक हथियार का प्रभाव बढ़ता जा रहा है, भीम को छोड़कर, सभी पांडु सैनिक अत्यधिक भय से अभिभूत हो गये।

ततः शस्त्राणि ते सर्वे समुत्सृज्य महीतले अवारोहन्रथेभ्यश्च हस्त्यश्वेभ्यश्च सर्वशः

All of them laid down their weapons on the ground. All of them alighted from their chariots, elephants and horses.

उन सभी ने अपने हथियार जमीन पर रख दिये। वे सभी अपने रथों, हाथियों और घोड़ों से उतर पड़े।

तेषु निक्षिप्तशस्त्रेषु वाहनेभ्यश्च्युतेषु च तदस्त्रवीर्यं विपुलं भीममूर्धन्यथापतत्

When they had thrown down their weapons and descended from their mounts, the great power of that weapon descended on Bhīmā's head.

जब उन्होंने अपने हथियार नीचे फेंक दिए और अपनी घुड़सवारी से नीचे उतरे, तो उस हथियार की महान शक्ति भीम के सिर पर आ गिरी।

हाहाकृतानि भूतानि पाण्डवाश्च विशेषतः भीमसेनमपश्यन्त तेजसा संवृतं तदा

All beings, especially the Pāṇḍava-s, uttered sounds of lamentation, when they saw that Bhīmasena was covered by the energy of that weapon.

जब सभी प्राणियों, विशेषकर पांडवों ने देखा कि भीमसेन उस हथियार की ऊर्जा से ढक गए हैं, तो उन्होंने विलाप की ध्वनि निकाली।
