संजय उवाच प्रतिज्ञाते तु पार्थेन सिन्धुराजवधे तदा वासुदेवो महाबाहुर्धनंजयमभाषत

Sañjaya said: When Pārtha vowed to kill the king of Sindhu, the mighty-armed Vāsudeva spoke to Dhanañjayā.

संजय ने कहा: जब पार्थ ने सिंधु के राजा को मारने की कसम खाई, तो महाबाहु वासुदेव ने धनंजय से बात की।

भ्रातॄणां मतमाज्ञाय त्वया वाचा प्रतिश्रुतम् सैन्धवं श्वोऽस्मि हन्तेति तत्साहसतमं कृतम्

You consulted your brothers and took the words of the pledge. "I will slay Saindhava." You performed an extremely rash act.

आपने अपने भाइयों से सलाह की और प्रतिज्ञा की बातें मान लीं। "मैं सैंधव को मार डालूँगा।" आपने अत्यंत उतावलापन भरा कार्य किया।

असंमन्त्र्य मया सार्धमतिभारोऽयमुद्यतः कथं नु सर्वलोकस्य नावहास्या भवेमहि

Without consulting me, you have taken up an extremely heavy burden. How can we now avoid the ridicule of all the worlds?

मुझसे सलाह किये बिना तुमने बहुत भारी बोझ उठाया है। अब हम सारी दुनिया के उपहास से कैसे बच सकते हैं?

धार्तराष्ट्रस्य शिबिरे मया प्रणिहिताश्चराः त इमे शीघ्रमागम्य प्रवृत्तिं वेदयन्ति नः

Spies have been sent by me to the camp of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra. They returned swiftly and conveyed this information to me.

धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों के शिविर में मेरे द्वारा गुप्तचर भेजे गये हैं। वे तेजी से लौटे और मुझे यह जानकारी दी।

त्वया वै संप्रतिज्ञाते सिन्धुराजवधे तदा सिंहनादः सवादित्रः सुमहानिह तैः श्रुतः

After you took a pledge to kill the king of Sindhu, the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Saindhava were frightened at the sounds they heard.

जब आपने सिन्धु के राजा को मारने की प्रतिज्ञा की, तो धृतराष्ट्र और सैंधव के पुत्र जो ध्वनियाँ सुनीं, उनसे भयभीत हो गये।

तेन शब्देन वित्रस्ता धार्तराष्ट्राः ससैन्धवाः नाकस्मात्सिंहनादोऽयमिति मत्वा व्यवस्थिताः

They heard roars like lions, mingled with the great sound of musical instruments. They thought that these roars like lions must have a reason and waited.

उन्होंने संगीत वाद्ययंत्रों की महान ध्वनि के साथ सिंहों की दहाड़ें सुनीं। उन्होंने सोचा कि इन शेरों की तरह दहाड़ने का भी कोई कारण होगा और वे इंतजार करने लगे।

सुमहाञ्शब्दसंपातः कौरवाणां महाभुज आसीन्नागाश्वपत्तीनां रथघोषश्च भैरवः

O mighty-armed one! A great sound arose among the Kaurava-s, among their elephants, horses and infantry and there was the roar of chariot wheels.

हे महाबाहु! कौरवों, उनके हाथियों, घोड़ों और पैदल सेना के बीच एक महान ध्वनि उत्पन्न हुई और रथ के पहियों की गड़गड़ाहट हुई।

अभिमन्युवधं श्रुत्वा ध्रुवमार्तो धनंजयः रात्रौ निर्यास्यति क्रोधादिति मत्वा व्यवस्थिताः

"Having heard of Abhimanyu's death, it is certain that Dhanañjayā will be enraged and will emerge in the night."

"अभिमन्यु की मृत्यु के बारे में सुनकर, यह निश्चित है कि धनंजय क्रोधित हो जाएगा और रात में प्रकट होगा।"

तैर्यतद्भिरियं सत्या श्रुता सत्यवतस्तव प्रतिज्ञा सिन्धुराजस्य वधे राजीवलोचन

This was their view and they waited. O one who is devoted to the truth! O one with eyes like lotuses! While they prepared, they heard the truth about the pledge you had taken for the death of the king of Sindhu.

यह उनका विचार था और उन्होंने इंतजार किया।' हे सत्य के प्रति समर्पित! हे कमल के समान नेत्रों वाले! जब वे तैयारी कर रहे थे, तो उन्होंने सिंधु के राजा की मृत्यु के लिए आपके द्वारा ली गई प्रतिज्ञा के बारे में सच्चाई सुनी।

ततो विमनसः सर्वे त्रस्ताः क्षुद्रमृगा इव आसन्सुयोधनामात्याः स च राजा जयद्रथः

All of them, Suyodhana's advisers and King Jayadratha, were distressed and frightened, like small deer. The lord of Sindhu and Sauvīra was extremely frightened.

वे सभी, सुयोधन के सलाहकार और राजा जयद्रथ, छोटे हिरणों की तरह व्यथित और भयभीत थे। सिंधु और सौवीर के स्वामी अत्यंत भयभीत हो गये।

अथोत्थाय सहामात्यैर्दीनः शिबिरमात्मनः आयात्सौवीरसिन्धूनामीश्वरो भृशदुःखितः

He arose, and with his advisers, entered his own camp. At the appropriate time for consultation,

वह उठा, और अपने सलाहकारों के साथ अपने डेरे में दाखिल हुआ। परामर्श के लिए उचित समय पर,

स मन्त्रकाले संमन्त्र्य सर्वा नैःश्रेयसीः क्रियाः सुयोधनमिदं वाक्यमब्रवीद्राजसंसदि

hey consulted each other about the best course of action. He then went to the assembly of the kings and spoke these words to Suyodhana.

अरे, कार्रवाई के सर्वोत्तम तरीके के बारे में एक-दूसरे से सलाह ली। फिर वह राजाओं की सभा में गया और सुयोधन से ये बातें कही।

मामसौ पुत्रहन्तेति श्वोऽभियाता धनंजयः प्रतिज्ञातो हि सेनाया मध्ये तेन वधो मम

"Dhanañjayā thinks that I am the one who has caused the death of his son. Therefore, in the midst of the soldiers, he has promised to kill me tomorrow.

"धनंजय सोचता है कि मैं ही हूं जिसने उसके बेटे की मौत का कारण बना है। इसलिए, उसने सैनिकों के बीच में कल मुझे मारने का वादा किया है।

तां न देवा न गन्धर्वा नासुरोरगराक्षसाः उत्सहन्तेऽन्यथा कर्तुं प्रतिज्ञां सव्यसाचिनः

When Savyasachi takes a vow, the gods, the gāndharva-s, the āsura-s, the serpents and the rākṣasa-s are incapable of countering it.

जब सव्यसाची प्रतिज्ञा करता है, तो देवता, गंधर्व, असुर, नाग और राक्षस उसका प्रतिकार करने में असमर्थ होते हैं।

ते मां रक्षत संग्रामे मा वो मूर्ध्नि धनंजयः पदं कृत्वाप्नुयाल्लक्ष्यं तस्मादत्र विधीयताम्

Therefore, all of you should protect me in the battle and not allow Dhanañjayā to place his foot on your heads and thereby accomplish his objective.

इसलिए, आप सभी को युद्ध में मेरी रक्षा करनी चाहिए और धनंजय को अपने सिर पर पैर रखने की अनुमति नहीं देनी चाहिए और इस तरह अपना उद्देश्य पूरा करना चाहिए।

अथ रक्षा न मे संख्ये क्रियते कुरुनन्दन अनुजानीहि मां राजन्गमिष्यामि गृहान्प्रति

O descendant of the Kuru lineage! Therefore, make arrangements to protect me in the battle. O king! Otherwise, grant me permission so that I can return home."

हे कुरु वंश के वंशज! अत: आप युद्ध में मेरी रक्षा की व्यवस्था करें। हे राजा! अन्यथा, मुझे अनुमति दें ताकि मैं घर लौट सकूं।"

एवमुक्तस्त्ववाक्शीर्षो विमनाः स सुयोधनः श्रुत्वाभिशप्तवन्तं त्वां ध्यानमेवान्वपद्यत

Having been thus addressed, Suyodhana was miserable and hung down his head. On hearing this and learning about the great fear, he silently began to think.

इस प्रकार कहे जाने पर सुयोधन दुखी हो गया और उसने अपना सिर झुका लिया। यह सुनकर और महान् भय के विषय में जानकर वह चुपचाप विचार करने लगा।

तमार्तमभिसंप्रेक्ष्य राजा किल स सैन्धवः मृदु चात्महितं चैव सापेक्षमिदमुक्तवान्

On seeing that the king was distressed, Saindhava gently spoke these words, with an eye on his own self-interest and on what would be good for him.

यह देखकर कि राजा व्यथित है, सैन्धव ने अपने स्वार्थ को ध्यान में रखते हुए और यह सोचकर कि उसके लिए क्या अच्छा होगा, धीरे से ये शब्द कहे।

नाहं पश्यामि भवतां तथावीर्यं धनुर्धरम् योऽर्जुनस्यास्त्रमस्त्रेण प्रतिहन्यान्महाहवे

I do not see a brave archer here who is capable of countering Arjuna's weapons with his own weapons in the great battle.

मुझे यहां कोई ऐसा वीर धनुर्धर नहीं दिख रहा जो महासमर में अर्जुन के अस्त्रों का मुकाबला अपने अस्त्रों से कर सके।

वासुदेवसहायस्य गाण्डीवं धुन्वतो धनुः कोऽर्जुनस्याग्रतस्तिष्ठेत्साक्षादपि शतक्रतुः

He wields the bow Gāṇḍīva and Vāsudeva is his aide. Who can stand in front of Arjuna, even if it were to be Śatakratu himself?

वह गाण्डीव धनुष धारण करते हैं और वासुदेव उनके सहायक हैं। अर्जुन के सामने कौन खड़ा हो सकता है, भले ही वह स्वयं शतक्रतु ही क्यों न हो?

महेश्वरोऽपि पार्थेन श्रूयते योधितः पुरा पदातिना महातेजा गिरौ हिमवति प्रभुः

It has been heard that Pārtha, on foot, fought with the immensely energetic lord Māheśvara earlier, in the Himālaya mountains.

ऐसा सुना गया है कि पार्थ ने पहले पैदल चलकर हिमालय पर्वत पर अत्यंत ऊर्जावान भगवान महेश्वर से युद्ध किया था।

दानवानां सहस्राणि हिरण्यपुरवासिनाम् जघानैकरथेनैव देवराजप्रचोदितः

Urged by the king of the gods, on a single chariot, he killed a thousand dānava-s who resided in Hiraṇyapura.

देवताओं के राजा के आग्रह पर, उन्होंने एक ही रथ पर सवार होकर हिरण्यपुर में रहने वाले एक हजार दानवों को मार डाला।

समायुक्तो हि कौन्तेयो वासुदेवेन धीमता सामरानपि लोकांस्त्रीन्निहन्यादिति मे मतिः

Kaunteya is now united with the intelligent Vāsudeva. It is my view that he is capable of destroying the three worlds, together with the immortals.

कौन्तेय अब बुद्धिमान वासुदेव के साथ एकजुट हो गया है। मेरा विचार है कि वह अमरों सहित तीनों लोकों को नष्ट करने में सक्षम है।

सोऽहमिच्छाम्यनुज्ञातुं रक्षितुं वा महात्मना द्रोणेन सहपुत्रेण वीरेण यदि मन्यसे

I desire that you should give me permission to leave. Alternatively, if you so wish, the great-souled Droṇa and his brave son should protect me."

मेरी इच्छा है कि आप मुझे जाने की अनुमति दे दें। वैकल्पिक रूप से, यदि आप चाहें तो महाबली द्रोण और उनके वीर पुत्र को मेरी रक्षा करनी चाहिए।"

स राज्ञा स्वयमाचार्यो भृशमाक्रन्दितोऽर्जुन संविधानं च विहितं रथाश्च किल सज्जिताः

O Arjuna! Thus addressed by the one who was terribly afflicted, the king himself spoke to the preceptor. "All the arrangements have been made and the chariots have been arrayed.

हे अर्जुन! अत्यंत पीड़ित व्यक्ति द्वारा इस प्रकार संबोधित करते हुए, राजा ने स्वयं गुरु से बात की। "सारी व्यवस्थाएं कर ली गई हैं और रथों को सजा दिया गया है।

कर्णो भूरिश्रवा द्रौणिर्वृषसेनश्च दुर्जयः कृपश्च मद्रराजश्च षडेतेऽस्य पुरोगमाः

Karṇa, Bhurishrava, Droṇa's son, the invincible Vṛṣasena, Kṛpa and the king of Madra—these six will be at the forefront.

कर्ण, भूरिश्रवा, द्रोण के पुत्र, अजेय वृषसेन, कृप और मद्र के राजा - ये छह सबसे आगे होंगे।

शकटः पद्मपश्चार्धो व्यूहो द्रोणेन कल्पितः पद्मकर्णिकमध्यस्थः सूचीपाशे जयद्रथः स्थास्यते रक्षितो वीरैः सिन्धुराड्युद्धदुर्मदैः

Droṇa will construct a vyūha at the rear. Half of this will be in the form of a cart and half in the form of a lotus. There will be an array in the form of a needle in the midst of the pericarp of the lotus. Jayadratha, the king of Sindhu who is unassailable in battle, will be stationed there, protected by brave ones."

द्रोण पीछे की ओर एक व्यूह का निर्माण करेंगे। इसका आधा हिस्सा गाड़ी के रूप में और आधा हिस्सा कमल के रूप में होगा। कमल की परिधि के बीच में सुई के आकार की एक सरणी होगी। सिन्धु का राजा जयद्रथ, जो युद्ध में अजेय है, वीरों द्वारा संरक्षित होकर वहाँ तैनात रहेगा।"

धनुष्यस्त्रे च वीर्ये च प्राणे चैव तथोरसि अविषह्यतमा ह्येते निश्चिताः पार्थ षड्रथाः एतानजित्वा सगणान्नैव प्राप्यो जयद्रथः

O Pārtha! There is no doubt that those six rāṭha-s are impossible to withstand, in use of the bow, in weapons, in valour, in strength and in lineage. Without vanquishing them and their followers, one cannot reach Jayadratha.

हे पार्थ! इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि उन छह रथों का सामना करना असंभव है, धनुष के उपयोग में, हथियारों में, वीरता में, ताकत में और वंश में। उन्हें और उनके अनुयायियों को परास्त किए बिना कोई जयद्रथ तक नहीं पहुंच सकता।

तेषामेकैकशो वीर्यं षण्णां त्वमनुचिन्तय सहिता हि नरव्याघ्रा न शक्या जेतुमञ्जसा

Think of the valour of each of those six, not to speak of them united together. O tiger among men! They cannot be defeated easily.

उन छहों में से प्रत्येक की वीरता के बारे में सोचें, न कि उनके एक साथ एकजुट होने की बात करें। हे मनुष्यों में बाघ! उन्हें आसानी से हराया नहीं जा सकता.

भूयश्च चिन्तयिष्यामि नीतिमात्महिताय वै मन्त्रज्ञैः सचिवैः सार्धं सुहृद्भिः कार्यसिद्धये

We should think again about the best course of action for our welfare. We should consult with our advisers and well-wishers and then determine a successful course of action."

हमें अपने कल्याण के लिए सर्वोत्तम कार्रवाई के बारे में फिर से सोचना चाहिए। हमें अपने सलाहकारों और शुभचिंतकों से परामर्श करना चाहिए और फिर एक सफल कार्रवाई का निर्धारण करना चाहिए।"

अर्जुन उवाच षड्रथान्धार्तराष्ट्रस्य मन्यसे यान्बलाधिकान् तेषां वीर्यं ममार्धेन न तुल्यमिति लक्षये

Arjuna replied: "You think that those six rāṭha-s on the side of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra are superior to me in strength. But it is seen that their valour is equal to half of my own.

अर्जुन ने उत्तर दिया: "आप सोचते हैं कि धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों के पक्ष के वे छह रथ-शक्ति में मुझसे श्रेष्ठ हैं। लेकिन यह देखा गया है कि उनकी वीरता मेरे आधे के बराबर है।

अस्त्रमस्त्रेण सर्वेषामेतेषां मधुसूदन मया द्रक्ष्यसि निर्भिन्नं जयद्रथवधैषिणा

O Madhusūdana! I will sever all their weapons with my weapons. Desiring to kill Jayadratha, you will see me shatter them.

हे मधुसूदन! मैं अपने अस्त्रों से उनके सारे अस्त्र-शस्त्र तोड़ डालूँगा। जयद्रथ को मारने की इच्छा से तुम मुझे उन्हें चकनाचूर करते हुए देखोगे।

द्रोणस्य मिषतः सोऽहं सगणस्य विलप्यतः मूर्धानं सिन्धुराजस्य पातयिष्यामि भूतले

In the sight of Droṇa and his lamenting followers, I will bring down the head of the king of Sindhu on the ground.

मैं द्रोण और उनके विलाप करते हुए अनुचरों के देखते-देखते सिंधुराज का सिर भूमि पर गिरा दूंगा।

यदि साध्याश्च रुद्राश्च वसवश्च सहाश्विनः मरुतश्च सहेन्द्रेण विश्वेदेवास्तथासुराः

Even if the Sādhya-s, the Rudra-s, Vasu-s, the Aśvin-s, the Marut-s with Indra, the Viśvadeva-s, the āsura-s,

भले ही साध्य-एस, रुद्र-एस, वसु-एस, अश्विन-एस, मरुत-एस इंद्र के साथ, विश्वदेव-एस, असुर-एस,

पितरः सहगन्धर्वाः सुपर्णाः सागराद्रयः द्यौर्वियत्पृथिवी चेयं दिशश्च सदिगीश्वराः

the ancestors, the gāndharva-s, the suparṇa-s, the oceans, the mountains, the firmament, heaven, earth, the directions, the lords of the directions,

पूर्वज, गंधर्व, सुपर्ण, समुद्र, पर्वत, आकाश, स्वर्ग, पृथ्वी, दिशाएँ, दिशाओं के स्वामी,

ग्राम्यारण्यानि भूतानि स्थावराणि चराणि च त्रातारः सिन्धुराजस्य भवन्ति मधुसूदन

the villages, the forests and all mobile and immobile beings seek to protect the king of Sindhu, O Madhusūdana,

हे मधुसूदन, गाँव, जंगल और सभी स्थावर और स्थावर प्राणी सिन्धु के राजा की रक्षा करना चाहते हैं।

तथापि बाणैर्निहतं श्वो द्रष्टासि रणे मया सत्येन ते शपे कृष्ण तथैवायुधमालभे

even then, in the battle tomorrow, you will see him slain by my arrows. O Kṛṣṇā! I swear this truthfully, as I touch my weapons.

तो भी कल युद्ध में तुम उसे मेरे बाणों से मारा हुआ देखोगे। हे कृष्ण! जब मैं अपने हथियारों को छूता हूं तो मैं यह सच्ची शपथ खाता हूं।

यश्च गोप्ता महेष्वासस्तस्य पापस्य दुर्मतेः तमेव प्रथमं द्रोणमभियास्यामि केशव

Droṇa, the great archer, is the protector of that wicked and evil-minded one. O Keśava! I will engage him first.

महान धनुर्धर द्रोण उस दुष्ट और दुष्टात्मा के रक्षक हैं। हे केशव! मैं सबसे पहले उसकी सगाई करूंगा.

तस्मिन्द्यूतमिदं बद्धं मन्यते स्म सुयोधनः तस्मात्तस्यैव सेनाग्रं भित्त्वा यास्यामि सैन्धवम्

Suyodhana thinks that this gambling match is based on him. Therefore, I will shatter him at the forefront of the army and then assail Saindhava.

सुयोधन को लगता है कि यह जुआ मैच उसी पर आधारित है। इसलिए, मैं उसे सेना के सबसे आगे से चकनाचूर कर दूंगा और फिर सैंधव पर हमला करूंगा।

द्रष्टासि श्वो महेष्वासान्नाराचैस्तिग्मतेजनैः शृङ्गाणीव गिरेर्वज्रैर्दार्यमाणान्मया युधि

Tomorrow, you will see that great archer pierced by my fierce, energetic and iron arrows in battle, like the summit of a mountain shattered by a thunderbolt.

कल तुम उस महान धनुर्धर को युद्ध में मेरे भयंकर, ओजस्वी तथा लोह बाणों से उसी प्रकार घायल हुआ देखोगे, जैसे वज्र से पर्वत का शिखर टूट जाता है।

नरनागाश्वदेहेभ्यो विस्रविष्यति शोणितम् पतद्भ्यः पतितेभ्यश्च विभिन्नेभ्यः शितैः शरैः

Blood will flow from the bodies of men, elephants and horses. They will be brought down by sharp arrows that descend on them.

मनुष्यों, हाथियों और घोड़ों के शरीर से रक्त बहेगा। वे उन तीखे बाणों द्वारा गिरा दिये जायेंगे जो उन पर उतरेंगे।

गाण्डीवप्रेषिता बाणा मनोनिलसमा जवे नृनागाश्वान्विदेहासून्कर्तारश्च सहस्रशः

The arrows released from Gāṇḍīva will be as swift as thought or the wind. They will rob the breath of life from the bodies of thousands of men, elephants and horses.

गांडीव से छोड़े गए तीर विचार या हवा की तरह तेज़ होंगे। वे हजारों मनुष्यों, हाथियों और घोड़ों के शरीरों से जीवन की सांसें छीन लेंगे।

यमात्कुबेराद्वरुणाद्रुद्रादिन्द्राच्च यन्मया उपात्तमस्त्रं घोरं वै तद्द्रष्टारो नरा युधि

In the battle, men will behold terrible weapons descend, those that have been obtained by me from Yāma, Kubera, Vāruṇa, Rudra and Indra.

युद्ध में मनुष्य भयंकर अस्त्र-शस्त्रों को उतरते देखेंगे, जो मैंने यम, कुबेर, वरुण, रुद्र तथा इन्द्र से प्राप्त किये हैं।

ब्राह्मेणास्त्रेण चास्त्राणि हन्यमानानि संयुगे मया द्रष्टासि सर्वेषां सैन्धवस्याभिरक्षिणाम्

All those who wish to protect Saindhava will see their weapons routed in the battle by my brāhmaṇa āṣṭrā.

जो लोग सैंधवों की रक्षा करना चाहते हैं वे मेरे ब्राह्मण अस्त्र द्वारा युद्ध में अपने हथियारों को नष्ट होते देखेंगे।

शरवेगसमुत्कृत्तै राज्ञां केशव मूर्धभिः आस्तीर्यमाणां पृथिवीं द्रष्टासि श्वो मया युधि

O Keśava! In the battle tomorrow, you will see the earth strewn with the heads of kings, severed by forceful arrows that I release.

हे केशव! कल के युद्ध में तुम मेरे द्वारा छोड़े गए बाणों से कटे हुए राजाओं के सिरों से पटी हुई पृथ्वी को देखोगे।

क्रव्यादांस्तर्पयिष्यामि द्रावयिष्यामि शात्रवान् सुहृदो नन्दयिष्यामि पातयिष्यामि सैन्धवम्

I will gratify carnivorous beasts and drive away the enemy. I will delight my well-wishers and bring down Saindhava.

मैं मांसाहारी पशुओं को तृप्त करूँगा और शत्रु को दूर भगाऊँगा। मैं अपने शुभचिंतकों को प्रसन्न करूंगा और सैंधव को नीचे गिराऊंगा।

बह्वागस्कृत्कुसंबन्धी पापदेशसमुद्भवः मया सैन्धवको राजा हतः स्वाञ्शोचयिष्यति

He has performed great misdeeds. He has been a bad ally. He has been born in an evil land. Having been killed by me, King Saindhava will cause sorrow among those on his own side.

उसने बड़े बड़े दुष्कर्म किये हैं। वह एक बुरा सहयोगी रहा है. उसका जन्म दुष्ट देश में हुआ है। मेरे द्वारा मारे जाने पर राजा सैन्धव अपने ही पक्ष के लोगों को दुःख पहुँचायेंगे।

सर्वक्षीरान्नभोक्तारः पापाचारा रणाजिरे मया सराजका बाणैर्नुन्ना नंक्ष्यन्ति सैन्धवाः

Saindhava has enjoyed the best of milk mixed with rice. But he has been evil in conduct. In the forefront of the battle, you will see him destroyed with my radiant arrows.

सैंधव ने चावल के साथ मिश्रित दूध का सर्वोत्तम आनंद लिया है। परन्तु वह आचरण में दुष्ट रहा है। युद्ध में सबसे आगे तुम उसे मेरे तेजस्वी बाणों से नष्ट होता हुआ देखोगे।

तथा प्रभाते कर्तास्मि यथा कृष्ण सुयोधनः नान्यं धनुर्धरं लोके मंस्यते मत्समं युधि

O Kṛṣṇā! In the morning, I will accomplish that which will make Suyodhana think that there is no archer in this world who is equal to me in battle.

हे कृष्ण! प्रातःकाल मैं वह कार्य करूँगा जिससे सुयोधन को यह विचार करना पड़ेगा कि इस संसार में युद्ध में मेरे समान कोई धनुर्धर नहीं है।

गाण्डीवं च धनुर्दिव्यं योद्धा चाहं नरर्षभ त्वं च यन्ता हृषीकेश किं नु स्यादजितं मया

O bull among men! Gāṇḍīva is a divine bow and I am the warrior. O Hṛṣīkeśa! You are the charioteer. Who is incapable of being vanquished by me?

हे मनुष्यों में बैल! गाण्डीव एक दिव्य धनुष है और मैं योद्धा हूँ। हे हृषीकेश! आप सारथी हैं. कौन है जो मुझसे पराजित होने में असमर्थ है?

यथा हि लक्ष्म चन्द्रे वै समुद्रे च यथा जलम् एवमेतां प्रतिज्ञां मे सत्यां विद्धि जनार्दन

Lakṣmī is always present in the moon and water is always present in the ocean. O Janārdana! Like that, know that my pledge is always true.

चंद्रमा में लक्ष्मी सदैव विद्यमान रहती है और समुद्र में जल सदैव विद्यमान रहता है। हे जनार्दन! इस प्रकार जान लो कि मेरी प्रतिज्ञा सदैव सत्य है।

मावमंस्था ममास्त्राणि मावमंस्था धनुर्दृढम् मावमंस्था बलं बाह्वोर्मावमंस्था धनंजयम्

Do not disrespect my weapons. Do not disrespect my firm bow. Do not disrespect my strength. Do not disrespect Dhanañjayā's strength of arms.

मेरे शस्त्रों का अनादर मत करो. मेरे दृढ़ धनुष का अनादर मत करो। मेरी शक्ति का अनादर मत करो. धनंजय की भुजाओं की शक्ति का अनादर मत करो।

यथा हि यात्वा संग्रामे न जीये विजयामि च तेन सत्येन संग्रामे हतं विद्धि जयद्रथम्

I will go to battle so that I am victorious and am not defeated. Know that because of my pledge, Jayadratha has already been slain in battle.

मैं युद्ध में जाऊंगा ताकि मैं विजयी होऊं और पराजित न होऊं। यह जान लो कि मेरी प्रतिज्ञा के कारण जयद्रथ पहले ही युद्ध में मारा जा चुका है।

ध्रुवं वै ब्राह्मणे सत्यं ध्रुवा साधुषु संनतिः श्रीर्ध्रुवा चापि दक्षेषु ध्रुवो नारायणे जयः

It is certain that the brāhman is truth. It is certain that there is humility in the virtuous. It is certain that there is prosperity in the wise. It is certain that there is victory in Nārāyaṇa."

यह निश्चित है कि ब्रह्म सत्य है। यह निश्चित है कि गुणी में विनम्रता होती है। यह निश्चित है कि बुद्धिमानों में समृद्धि होती है। यह निश्चित है कि नारायण की विजय है।"

संजय उवाच एवमुक्त्वा हृषीकेशं स्वयमात्मानमात्मना संदिदेशार्जुनो नर्दन्वासविः केशवं प्रभुम्

Sañjaya said: Having spoken these words to Hṛṣīkeśa and having addressed them to his own self too, Vāsava's son once again addressed the lord Keśava in a sonorous tone.

संजय ने कहा: हृषिकेश से ये शब्द कहकर और उन्हें स्वयं को भी संबोधित करके, वासव के पुत्र ने एक बार फिर भगवान केशव को मधुर स्वर में संबोधित किया।

यथा प्रभातां रजनीं कल्पितः स्याद्रथो मम तथा कार्यं त्वया कृष्ण कार्यं हि महदुद्यतम्

"When night is over and it is morning, please arrange for my chariot to be prepared. O Kṛṣṇā! That is your task. The task that has to be undertaken is a grave one."

"जब रात बीत जाए और सुबह हो, तो कृपया मेरे रथ को तैयार करने की व्यवस्था करें। हे कृष्ण! यह आपका कार्य है। जो कार्य करना है वह गंभीर है।"
