संजय उवाच समरेऽत्युग्रकर्माणः कर्मभिर्व्यञ्जितश्रमाः सकृष्णाः पाण्डवाः पञ्च देवैरपि दुरासदाः

Sañjaya said: They are performers of terrible deeds in battle. Their deeds show they have conquered exhaustion. Together with Kṛṣṇā, the five Pāṇḍava-s are difficult to resist, even by the gods.

संजय ने कहा: वे युद्ध में भयानक कर्म करने वाले हैं। उनके कार्य दर्शाते हैं कि उन्होंने थकावट पर विजय पा ली है। कृष्ण के साथ, पांचों पांडवों का विरोध करना देवताओं के लिए भी कठिन है।

सत्त्वकर्मान्वयैर्बुद्ध्या प्रकृत्या यशसा श्रिया नैव भूतो न भविता कृष्णतुल्यगुणः पुमान्

There has never been, nor will there be, a man who possesses Kṛṣṇā's qualities in righteousness, deeds, vigour, intelligence, nature, fame and prosperity.

धर्म, कर्म, ओज, बुद्धि, स्वभाव, प्रसिद्धि और समृद्धि जैसे कृष्ण के गुणों वाला कोई व्यक्ति न तो कभी हुआ है और न ही होगा।

सत्यधर्मपरो दाता विप्रपूजादिभिर्गुणैः सदैव त्रिदिवं प्राप्तो राजा किल युधिष्ठिरः

King Yudhiṣṭhira has always obtained heaven because of his truthfulness, devotion to dharma, generosity, worship of brāhmana-s and other qualities.

राजा युधिष्ठिर को अपनी सत्यवादिता, धर्म के प्रति समर्पण, उदारता, ब्राह्मण-पूजा और अन्य गुणों के कारण हमेशा स्वर्ग प्राप्त हुआ है।

युगान्ते चान्तको राजञ्जामदग्न्यश्च वीर्यवान् रणस्थो भीमसेनश्च कथ्यन्ते सदृशास्त्रयः

O king! It has been said that three are equal in the field of battle - the Destroyer himself at the end of a yuga, Jāmadagni's valiant son and Bhīmasena.

हे राजा! ऐसा कहा गया है कि युद्ध के मैदान में तीन समान हैं - युग के अंत में स्वयं विध्वंसक, जमदग्नि का बहादुर पुत्र और भीमसेन।

प्रतिज्ञाकर्मदक्षस्य रणे गाण्डीवधन्वनः उपमां नाधिगच्छामि पार्थस्य सदृशीं क्षितौ

Pārtha, the wielder of the Gāṇḍīva, is always skilled in performing all his pledges in battle and I do not see his parallel on earth.

गांडीव धारण करने वाला पार्थ युद्ध में अपनी सभी प्रतिज्ञाओं को पूरा करने में हमेशा कुशल रहता है और मुझे पृथ्वी पर उसकी तुलना नहीं दिखती।

गुरुवात्सल्यमत्यन्तं नैभृत्यं विनयो दमः नकुलेऽप्रातिरूप्यं च शौर्यं च नियतानि षट्

Devotion towards superiors, maintaining secrecy of counsel, humility, self-control, beauty and bravery—these six are always present in Nākula.

वरिष्ठों के प्रति भक्ति, सलाह की गोपनीयता बनाए रखना, विनम्रता, आत्म-नियंत्रण, सुंदरता और बहादुरी - ये छह नकुल में हमेशा मौजूद रहते हैं।

श्रुतगाम्भीर्यमाधुर्यसत्त्ववीर्यपराक्रमैः सदृशो देवयोर्वीरः सहदेवः किलाश्विनोः

In knowledge of the sacred texts, gravity, sweetness, spirit, prowess and valour, the brave Sahadeva is the equal of the gods who are the Aśvin-s.

पवित्र ग्रंथों के ज्ञान, गंभीरता, मधुरता, भावना, शक्ति और वीरता में, बहादुर सहदेव उन देवताओं के बराबर हैं जो अश्विन हैं।

All the great qualities in Kṛṣṇā and all the qualities in the Pāṇḍava-s, all those assembled qualities were to be seen in Abhimanyu.

युधिष्ठिरस्य धैर्येण कृष्णस्य चरितेन च कर्मभिर्भीमसेनस्य सदृशो भीमकर्मणः

He was Yudhiṣṭhira's equal in patience, Kṛṣṇā's in conduct, Bhīmasena's in deeds and his equal in terrible feats,

धैर्य में वह युधिष्ठिर के तुल्य, आचरण में कृष्ण के तुल्य, कर्म में भीमसेन के तुल्य और भयंकर पराक्रम में उनके तुल्य था।

धनंजयस्य रूपेण विक्रमेण श्रुतेन च विनयात्सहदेवस्य सदृशो नकुलस्य च

Dhanañjayā's in beauty, valour and learning, and Nākula and Sahadeva's in humility.

धनंजय की सुंदरता, वीरता और विद्या, और नकुल और सहदेव की विनम्रता।

धृतराष्ट्र उवाच अभिमन्युमहं सूत सौभद्रमपराजितम् श्रोतुमिच्छामि कार्त्स्न्येन कथमायोधने हतः

Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: O sūta! I wish to hear everything about how the invincible Abhimanyu, Subhadrā's son, was killed on the field of battle.

धृतराष्ट्र ने कहा: हे सूत! मैं यह सब कुछ सुनना चाहता हूँ कि सुभद्रा का पुत्र अजेय अभिमन्यु युद्ध के मैदान में कैसे मारा गया।

संजय उवाच चक्रव्यूहो महाराज आचार्येणाभिकल्पितः तत्र शक्रोपमाः सर्वे राजानो विनिवेशिताः

Sañjaya replied: O great king! The preceptor created the cakra vyūha. All the kings, who were Śākra's equal, were assembled in it.

संजय ने उत्तर दिया: हे महान राजा! गुरु ने चक्रव्यूह की रचना की। उसमें शक्र के समकक्ष सभी राजा एकत्रित थे।

संघातो राजपुत्राणां सर्वेषामभवत्तदा कृताभिसमयाः सर्वे सुवर्णविकृतध्वजाः

There was an assembly of princes there. All of them had taken their pledges and their standards were embellished with gold.

वहाँ राजकुमारों की एक सभा थी। उन सभी ने अपनी प्रतिज्ञाएँ ले ली थीं और उनके ध्वज सोने से अलंकृत थे।

रक्ताम्बरधराः सर्वे सर्वे रक्तविभूषणाः सर्वे रक्तपताकाश्च सर्वे वै हेममालिनः

All of them were attired in red garments and all of them had red ornaments. All of them had red pennants and all of them wore golden garlands.

वे सभी लाल वस्त्र पहने हुए थे और उन सभी के पास लाल आभूषण थे। उन सभी के पास लाल पताकाएं थीं और सभी ने सोने की मालाएं पहनी हुई थीं।

तेषां दशसहस्राणि बभूवुर्दृढधन्विनाम् पौत्रं तव पुरस्कृत्य लक्ष्मणं प्रियदर्शनम्

There were ten thousand such, firm in wielding the bow. Your handsome grandson Lakṣmaṇa was at the forefront.

ऐसे दस हजार थे, जो धनुष चलाने में दृढ़ थे। आपका सुन्दर पौत्र लक्ष्मण सबसे आगे था।

अन्योन्यसमदुःखास्ते अन्योन्यसमसाहसाः अन्योन्यं स्पर्धमानाश्च अन्योन्यस्य हिते रताः

They shared each other's misery and were like each other in bravery. They sought to rival each other and were devoted to each other's welfare.

वे एक-दूसरे का दुख साझा करते थे और बहादुरी में एक-दूसरे के समान थे। वे एक-दूसरे से प्रतिद्वंद्विता करना चाहते थे और एक-दूसरे के कल्याण के प्रति समर्पित थे।

कर्णदुःशासनकृपैर्वृतो राजा महारथैः देवराजोपमः श्रीमाञ्श्वेतच्छत्राभिसंवृतः चामरव्यजनाक्षेपैरुदयन्निव भास्करः

The king was surrounded by mahāratha Karṇa, Duḥśāsana and Kṛpa. With a white umbrella held aloft his head, he was like the king of the gods in his beauty. He was fanned with whisks and was as radiant as the rising sun.

राजा महारथी कर्ण, दु:शासन और कृप से घिरे हुए थे। सिर पर सफेद छाता लटकाए वह अपनी सुंदरता में देवताओं के राजा के समान लग रहा था। वह फूँक-फूँक कर पंखा कर रहा था और उगते सूर्य के समान दीप्तिमान था।

प्रमुखे तस्य सैन्यस्य द्रोणोऽवस्थितनायके सिन्धुराजस्तथातिष्ठच्छ्रीमान्मेरुरिवाचलः

The leader, Droṇa, was stationed at the forefront of those soldiers. The king of Sindhu was stationed there, handsome, and like Mount Meru.

नेता द्रोण उन सैनिकों में सबसे आगे तैनात थे। सिन्धु देश का राजा सुन्दर और मेरु पर्वत के समान वहाँ स्थित था।

सिन्धुराजस्य पार्श्वस्था अश्वत्थामपुरोगमाः सुतास्तव महाराज त्रिंशत्त्रिदशसंनिभाः

O great king! On the flank of the king of Sindhu were stationed thirty of your sons, resembling the gods, and with Aśvatthāma at the forefront.

हे महान राजा! सिंधुराज की पार्श्वभूमि पर देवताओं के समान आपके तीस पुत्र तैनात थे और सबसे आगे अश्वत्थामा थे।

गान्धारराजः कितवः शल्यो भूरिश्रवास्तथा पार्श्वतः सिन्धुराजस्य व्यराजन्त महारथाः

The mahāratha-s—the gambler who was the king of Gāndhāra, Śalya and Bhurishrava—were stationed on the flank of the king of Sindhu.

महारथ-जुआरी जो गांधार के राजा थे, शल्य और भूरिश्रवा-सिंधु के राजा के पार्श्व में तैनात थे।
