संजय उवाच ततः स सात्यकिर्धीमान्महात्मा वृष्णिपुंगवः सुदर्शनं निहत्याजौ यन्तारमिदमब्रवीत्

Sañjaya said: The great-souled and intelligent Sātyaki, the bull of the Vṛṣṇi lineage, killed Sudarśanā and spoke these words to his charioteer.

संजय ने कहा: वृष्णि वंश के बैल, महान आत्मा और बुद्धिमान सात्यकि ने सुदर्शन को मार डाला और अपने सारथी से ये शब्द कहे।

रथाश्वनागकलिलं शरशक्त्यूर्मिमालिनम् खड्गमत्स्यं गदाग्राहं शूरायुधमहास्वनम्

"O son! We have passed through the impenetrable and great ocean that is Droṇa's army. It is full of chariots, horses and elephants. The arrows and javelins are the garlands of waves. The swords are the fish and the clubs are the crocodiles. The weapons of the brave ones make a loud roar.

"हे पुत्र! हम द्रोण की सेना वाले अभेद्य और महान महासागर से होकर गुजरे हैं। वह रथों, घोड़ों और हाथियों से भरी हुई है। तीर और भाले लहरों की माला हैं। तलवारें मछली हैं और गदाएं मगरमच्छ हैं। बहादुरों के हथियार जोर से गर्जना करते हैं।

प्राणापहारिणं रौद्रं वादित्रोत्क्रुष्टनादितम् योधानामसुखस्पर्शं दुर्धर्षमजयैषिणाम्

This is terrible and is destructive of life. There is a terrible din created by musical instruments. Warriors find this pleasant to the touch. But it is unassailable to those who desire victory.

यह भयानक है और जीवन का विनाश करने वाला है। वाद्ययंत्रों से भयंकर कोलाहल मचता है। योद्धाओं को इसका स्पर्श सुखद लगता है। लेकिन यह उन लोगों के लिए अजेय है जो जीत की इच्छा रखते हैं।

तीर्णाः स्म दुस्तरं तात द्रोणानीकमहार्णवम् जलसंधबलेनाजौ पुरुषादैरिवावृतम्

O father, we have crossed the great, difficult-to-cross ocean of Droṇa's army. There are the forces of Jalasandha, surrounded by flesh-eating ones.

हे पिता, हमने द्रोण की सेना के विशाल, कठिन सागर को पार कर लिया है। वहाँ जलसन्ध की सेनाएँ हैं, जो मांसभक्षी लोगों से घिरी हुई हैं।

अतोऽन्यं पृतनाशेषं मन्ये कुनदिकामिव तर्तव्यामल्पसलिलां चोदयाश्वानसंभ्रमम्

But I think that the remaining part of the army is like a small river. It only has a little bit of water. Therefore, fearlessly, urge the horses forward.

लेकिन मेरा ख़याल है कि सेना का बाक़ी हिस्सा एक छोटी नदी की तरह है. इसमें बस थोड़ा सा पानी है. इसलिए निडर होकर घोड़ों को आगे बढ़ाओ।

हस्तप्राप्तमहं मन्ये सांप्रतं सव्यसाचिनम् निर्जित्य दुर्धरं द्रोणं सपदानुगमाहवे

I think that Savyasachi is only the distance of a hand away and we will reach him. In the battle, we have vanquished the intolerable Droṇa and his followers

मुझे लगता है कि सव्यसाची केवल एक हाथ की दूरी पर हैं और हम उन तक पहुंच जायेंगे. युद्ध में हमने असहनीय द्रोण और उनके अनुयायियों को परास्त कर दिया है

हार्दिक्यं योधवर्यं च प्राप्तं मन्ये धनंजयम् न हि मे जायते त्रासो दृष्ट्वा सैन्यान्यनेकशः वह्नेरिव प्रदीप्तस्य ग्रीष्मे शुष्कं तृणोलपम्

and Hārdikya, supreme among warriors. I think that we have reached Dhanañjayā. At the sight of innumerable soldiers, no fear is engendered in me. They are like dried gras-s during the summer, before a blazing fire.

और हार्दिक्य, योद्धाओं में सर्वोच्च। मुझे लगता है कि हम धनंजय तक पहुंच गए हैं। असंख्य सैनिकों को देखकर मेरे मन में कोई भय उत्पन्न नहीं होता। वे गर्मी के दिनों में, धधकती हुई आग के सामने, सूखी घास के समान हैं।

पश्य पाण्डवमुख्येन यातां भूमिं किरीटिना पत्त्यश्वरथनागौघैः पतितैर्विषमीकृताम्

Behold. This is the ground along which Kirīṭī, the foremost of the Pāṇḍava-s, has passed. It has been rendered uneven by large numbers of infantry, horses, chariots and elephants that have fallen.

देखो. यह वह भूमि है जहां से पांडवों में अग्रणी किरीटी गुजरे थे। बड़ी संख्या में पैदल सेना, घोड़ों, रथों और हाथियों के गिरने से यह असमान हो गया है।

अभ्याशस्थमहं मन्ये श्वेताश्वं कृष्णसारथिम् स एष श्रूयते शब्दो गाण्डीवस्यामितौजसः

I think that we are close to the one with the white horses, with Kṛṣṇā as the charioteer. The sound of the infinitely energetic Gāṇḍīva can be heard.

मुझे लगता है कि हम उस घोड़े के करीब हैं जिसके पास सफेद घोड़े हैं, जिसके सारथी कृष्ण हैं। असीम ऊर्जावान गाण्डीव की ध्वनि सुनी जा सकती है।

यादृशानि निमित्तानि मम प्रादुर्भवन्ति वै अनस्तंगत आदित्ये हन्ता सैन्धवमर्जुनः

From the omens that manifest themselves before me, Arjuna will kill Saindhava before the sun has set.

मेरे सामने जो शकुन प्रकट हो रहे हैं, उनसे यह प्रतीत होता है कि अर्जुन सूर्यास्त से पहले ही सैन्धव को मार डालेगा।

शनैर्विश्रम्भयन्नश्वान्याहि यत्तोऽरिवाहिनीम् यत्रैते सतनुत्राणाः सुयोधनपुरोगमाः

Go slowly and preserve the strength of the horses. Proceed towards the army of the enemy. That is where the armoured ones are, with Suyodhana at the forefront.

धीरे-धीरे चलो और घोड़ों की ताकत बनाए रखो। शत्रु की सेना की ओर आगे बढ़ें। यहीं पर बख्तरबंद लोग हैं, जिनमें सबसे आगे सुयोधन है।

दंशिताः क्रूरकर्माणः काम्बोजा युद्धदुर्मदाः शरबाणासनधरा यवनाश्च प्रहारिणः

The Kāmboja-s are indomitable in battle. They are armoured and are the performers of cruel deeds. There are armed Yāvana-s, wielding bows and arrows.

कम्बोज युद्ध में अदम्य हैं। वे कवचधारी तथा क्रूर कर्म करने वाले हैं। वहाँ धनुष-बाण चलाने वाले सशस्त्र यवन हैं।

शकाः किराता दरदा बर्बरास्ताम्रलिप्तकाः अन्ये च बहवो म्लेच्छा विविधायुधपाणयः मामेवाभिमुखाः सर्वे तिष्ठन्ति समरार्थिनः

There are Śāka-s, Kirāta-s, Dārada-s, Barbara-s and Tāmraliptaka-s. There are many other mleccha-s, with diverse weapons in their hands. All of them are stationed with their faces towards me, wishing to fight.

शक-स, किरात-स, दरद-स, बारबरा-एस और ताम्रलिप्तक-एस हैं। और भी कई म्लेच्छ हैं, जिनके हाथों में तरह-तरह के हथियार हैं। वे सभी युद्ध की इच्छा से मेरी ओर मुख करके तैनात हैं।

एतान्सरथनागाश्वान्निहत्याजौ सपत्तिनः इदं दुर्गं महाघोरं तीर्णमेवोपधारय

This is an extremely terrible fortress, with chariots, elephants and infantry. But consider that we have already passed through this and have slain them."

यह रथों, हाथियों और पैदल सेना से युक्त अत्यंत भयानक दुर्ग है। लेकिन विचार करें कि हम पहले ही इससे गुजर चुके हैं और उन्हें मार डाला है।"

सूत उवाच न संभ्रमो मे वार्ष्णेय विद्यते सत्यविक्रम यद्यपि स्यात्सुसंक्रुद्धो जामदग्न्योऽग्रतः स्थितः

The charioteer replied: "O Vārṣṇeya! O one who has truth as his valour! Know that I have no fear, even if the extremely enraged son of Jāmadagni were to be stationed before us now.

सारथी ने उत्तर दिया: "हे वार्ष्णेय! हे सत्य को अपनी वीरता मानने वाले! जान लो कि मुझे कोई डर नहीं है, भले ही जमदग्नि का अत्यंत क्रोधित पुत्र अब हमारे सामने खड़ा हो जाए।

द्रोणो वा रथिनां श्रेष्ठः कृपो मद्रेश्वरोऽपि वा तथापि संभ्रमो न स्यात्त्वामाश्रित्य महाभुज

O mighty-armed one! Even if it were to be Droṇa, best among rāṭha-s, or Kṛpa, or the lord of Madra, I have no fear as long as I am under your protection

हे महाबाहु! भले ही वह रथियों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ द्रोण, या कृप, या मद्र का स्वामी हो, जब तक मैं आपकी शरण में हूं, मुझे कोई डर नहीं है।

त्वया सुबहवो युद्धे निर्जिताः शत्रुसूदन न च मे संभ्रमः कश्चिद्भूतपूर्वः कदाचन किमु चैतत्समासाद्य वीर संयुगगोष्पदम्

O destroyer of enemies! You have already vanquished many of them in battle. I have never exhibited any fear in battle. O brave one! Why should I show it now, in this battle with a trifle?

हे शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले! तुम युद्ध में उनमें से बहुतों को पहले ही परास्त कर चुके हो। मैंने युद्ध में कभी भी भय का प्रदर्शन नहीं किया। हे वीर! अब इस छोटी सी लड़ाई में मैं इसे क्यों दिखाऊं?

आयुष्मन्कतरेण त्वा प्रापयामि धनंजयम् केषां क्रुद्धोऽसि वार्ष्णेय केषां मृत्युरुपस्थितः केषां संयमनीमद्य गन्तुमुत्सहते मनः

O one with a long life! Which route shall I take to reach Dhanañjayā? O Vārṣṇeya! Whom are you angry with? To whom has death presented itself? Who have made up their minds to go to Yāma's residence today?

हे दीर्घायु वाले! धनंजय तक पहुँचने के लिए मुझे कौन सा मार्ग अपनाना चाहिए? हे वार्ष्णेय! आप किससे नाराज़ हैं? मृत्यु ने स्वयं को किसके सामने प्रस्तुत किया है? आज किसने यम के निवास पर जाने का मन बनाया है?

के त्वां युधि पराक्रान्तं कालान्तकयमोपमम् दृष्ट्वा विक्रमसंपन्नं विद्रविष्यन्ति संयुगे केषां वैवस्वतो राजा स्मरतेऽद्य महाभुज

You are like death at the end of a yuga and exhibit your valour in battle. On witnessing this valour, which warriors will run away? O mighty-armed one! Who are the ones whom King Vaivasvata has remembered today?"

आप युग के अंत में मृत्यु के समान हैं और युद्ध में अपनी वीरता का प्रदर्शन करते हैं। इस पराक्रम को देखकर कौन-कौन से योद्धा भाग जायेंगे? हे महाबाहु! वे कौन हैं जिनका राजा वैवस्वत ने आज स्मरण किया है?”

सात्यकिरुवाच मुण्डानेतान्हनिष्यामि दानवानिव वासवः प्रतिज्ञां पारयिष्यामि काम्बोजानेव मा वह अद्यैषां कदनं कृत्वा क्षिप्रं यास्यामि पाण्डवम्

Sātyaki said: "Like Vāsava against the dānava-s, I will slay the ones with the shaved heads and fulfil my vow. Take me towards the Kāmboja-s. Having caused carnage among them today, I will swiftly go to Pāṇḍava.

सात्यकि ने कहा: "दानवों के खिलाफ वासव की तरह, मैं मुंडा सिर वाले लोगों को मार डालूंगा और अपनी प्रतिज्ञा पूरी करूंगा। मुझे कम्बोज की ओर ले चलो। आज उनके बीच नरसंहार करने के बाद, मैं तेजी से पांडवों के पास जाऊंगा।

अद्य द्रक्ष्यन्ति मे वीर्यं कौरवाः ससुयोधनाः मुण्डानीके हते सूत सर्वसैन्येषु चासकृत्

The Kaurava-s, together with Suyodhana, will witness my valour today. O charioteer! I will afflict all the soldiers and kill the ones with the shaven heads.

सुयोधन सहित कौरव आज मेरी वीरता देखेंगे। हे सारथी! मैं सभी सैनिकों को दुःख दूँगा और जिनके सिर मुँडवाये हैं उन्हें मार डालूँगा।

अद्य कौरवसैन्यस्य दीर्यमाणस्य संयुगे श्रुत्वा विरावं बहुधा संतप्स्यति सुयोधनः

In the battle today, I will shatter the soldiers of the Kaurava-s. Having heard many kinds of lamentations, Suyodhana will be satisfied.

आज युद्ध में मैं कौरवों के सैनिकों को चूर-चूर कर दूँगा। अनेक प्रकार के विलाप सुनकर सुयोधन संतुष्ट हो जायेगा।

अद्य पाण्डवमुख्यस्य श्वेताश्वस्य महात्मनः आचार्यककृतं मार्गं दर्शयिष्यामि संयुगे

Today, in the battle, I will show my preceptor, the greatsouled one with the white horses, who is foremost among the Pāṇḍava-s, the path that he has indicated to me.

आज, युद्ध में, मैं अपने गुरु, सफेद घोड़ों वाले महान आत्मा, जो पांडवों में सबसे अग्रणी हैं, को वह मार्ग दिखाऊंगा जो उन्होंने मुझे बताया है।

अद्य मद्बाणनिहतान्योधमुख्यान्सहस्रशः दृष्ट्वा दुर्योधनो राजा पश्चात्तापं गमिष्यति

Thousands of foremost among warriors will be slain by my arrows today. On witnessing this, King Duryodhana will suffer from repentance.

आज मेरे बाणों से हजारों श्रेष्ठ योद्धा मारे जायेंगे। यह देखकर राजा दुर्योधन को पश्चाताप होगा।

अद्य मे क्षिप्रहस्तस्य क्षिपतः सायकोत्तमान् अलातचक्रप्रतिमं धनुर्द्रक्ष्यन्ति कौरवाः

I will release supreme arrows today, using the dexterity of my hands. The Kaurava-s will behold my bow, like a circle of fire.

मैं आज अपने हाथों की कुशलता का उपयोग करके सर्वोच्च बाण छोड़ूंगा। कौरव मेरे धनुष को अग्नि के गोले के समान देखेंगे।

मत्सायकचिताङ्गानां रुधिरं स्रवतां बहु सैनिकानां वधं दृष्ट्वा संतप्स्यति सुयोधनः

My arrows will make copious quantities of blood flow from their limbs. On witnessing the slaughter of the soldiers, Suyodhana will suffer from repentance.

मेरे बाण उनके अंगों से प्रचुर मात्रा में रक्त प्रवाहित करेंगे। सैनिकों का संहार देखकर सुयोधन को पश्चाताप होगा।

अद्य मे क्रुद्धरूपस्य निघ्नतश्च वरान्वरान् द्विरर्जुनमिमं लोकं मंस्यते स सुयोधनः

In my angry form, I will slay the best of the best today. Today, Suyodhana will think that the world has two Arjuna-s.

मैं आज अपने क्रोधी रूप में अच्छे-अच्छों को मार डालूँगा। आज सुयोधन सोचेगा कि दुनिया में दो अर्जुन हैं।

अद्य राजसहस्राणि निहतानि मया रणे दृष्ट्वा दुर्योधनो राजा संतप्स्यति महामृधे

In the battle today, thousands of kings will be killed by me. On witnessing this, King Duryodhana will repent the great battle.

आज युद्ध में मेरे द्वारा हजारों राजा मारे जायेंगे। यह देखकर राजा दुर्योधन को महान युद्ध का पश्चाताप होगा।

अद्य स्नेहं च भक्तिं च पाण्डवेषु महात्मसु हत्वा राजसहस्राणि दर्शयिष्यामि राजसु

Today, I will show my affection and devotion to the great-souled Pāṇḍava-s. I will kill thousands of kings and show the king."

आज, मैं महात्मा पांडवों के प्रति अपना स्नेह और भक्ति प्रदर्शित करूंगा। मैं हजारों राजाओं को मार डालूँगा और राजा को दिखा दूँगा।”

संजय उवाच एवमुक्तस्तदा सूतः शिक्षितान्साधुवाहिनः शशाङ्कसंनिकाशान्वै वाजिनोऽचूचुदद्भृशम्

Sañjaya said: Thus instructed, the charioteer urged Yuyudhāna's supreme horses, which were trained and well skilled. Those horses had the complexion of the moon and he urged them to their greatest speed.

संजय ने कहा: इस प्रकार निर्देश दिए जाने पर, सारथी ने युयुधान के सर्वोच्च घोड़ों का आग्रह किया, जो प्रशिक्षित और अच्छी तरह से कुशल थे। उन घोड़ों का रंग चंद्रमा जैसा था और उसने उन्हें उनकी अधिकतम गति के लिए प्रेरित किया।

ते पिबन्त इवाकाशं युयुधानं हयोत्तमाः प्रापयन्यवनाञ्शीघ्रं मनःपवनरंहसः

They possessed the speed of the wind, or of thought, and seemed to devour the sky as they quickly sped to the spot where the Yāvana-s were.

उनके पास हवा या विचार की गति थी, और वे आकाश को निगलते हुए प्रतीत होते थे क्योंकि वे तेजी से उस स्थान पर पहुंचे जहां यवन थे।

सात्यकिं ते समासाद्य पृतनास्वनिवर्तिनम् बहवो लघुहस्ताश्च शरवर्षैरवाकिरन्

As he reached that army, without retreating, they exhibited the dexterity of their hands and enveloped Sātyaki with many showers of arrows.

जैसे ही वह उस सेना के पास पहुँचा, उन्होंने बिना पीछे हटे, अपने हाथों की कुशलता का प्रदर्शन किया और सात्यकि को बाणों की अनेक वर्षा से घेर लिया।

तेषामिषूनथास्त्राणि वेगवन्नतपर्वभिः अच्छिनत्सात्यकी राजन्नैनं ते प्राप्नुवञ्शराः

O king! But before those arrows could reach him, Sātyaki used his powerful arrows with drooping tufts to sever those arrows and other weapons.

हे राजा! लेकिन इससे पहले कि वे बाण उस तक पहुँच पाते, सात्यकि ने उन बाणों और अन्य हथियारों को काटने के लिए अपने झुके हुए गुच्छों वाले शक्तिशाली बाणों का उपयोग किया।

रुक्मपुङ्खैः सुनिशितैर्गार्ध्रपत्रैरजिह्मगैः उच्चकर्त शिरांस्युग्रो यवनानां भुजानपि

He then used extremely sharp arrows that were gold-tufted, with the feathers of vultures, to sever the heads and arms of the Yāvana-s.

फिर उसने यवनों के सिर और भुजाओं को काटने के लिए, गिद्धों के पंखों वाले, सोने से जड़े हुए अत्यंत तीखे बाणों का प्रयोग किया।

शैक्यायसानि वर्माणि कांस्यानि च समन्ततः भित्त्वा देहांस्तथा तेषां शरा जग्मुर्महीतलम्

Some of those arrows penetrated the armour made out of steel and brass and passing through the bodies, penetrated the earth in every direction.

उनमें से कुछ बाणों ने स्टील और पीतल से बने कवच को भेद दिया और शरीरों को पार करते हुए सभी दिशाओं में पृथ्वी को भेद दिया।

ते हन्यमाना वीरेण म्लेच्छाः सात्यकिना रणे शतशो न्यपतंस्तत्र व्यसवो वसुधातले

In the battle, the mleccha-s were slaughtered by the brave Sātyaki. Hundreds of them lost their lives and fell down on the ground.

युद्ध में वीर सात्यकि द्वारा म्लेच्छों का वध कर दिया गया। उनमें से सैकड़ों की जान चली गयी और वे ज़मीन पर गिर पड़े।

सुपूर्णायतमुक्तैस्तानव्यवच्छिन्नपिण्डितैः पञ्च षट्सप्त चाष्टौ च बिभेद यवनाञ्शरैः

The bow was drawn back to its full extent and an incessant stream of arrows was shot. He afflicted and oppressed them and killed five, six, seven and eight Yāvana's with a single arrow.

धनुष को उसकी पूरी सीमा तक वापस खींच लिया गया और तीरों की एक सतत धारा छोड़ी गई। उसने उन्हें पीड़ित और प्रताड़ित किया और एक ही बाण से पांच, छह, सात और आठ यवनों को मार डाला।

काम्बोजानां सहस्रैस्तु शकानां च विशां पते शबराणां किरातानां बर्बराणां तथैव च

O lord of the earth! Thousands of Kāmboja-s, Śāka-s, Śabara-s, Kirāta-s and Barbara-s fell down.

हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! हजारों काम्बोज, शक, शबर, किरात और बारबरा गिर गये।

अगम्यरूपां पृथिवीं मांसशोणितकर्दमाम् कृतवांस्तत्र शैनेयः क्षपयंस्तावकं बलम्

The earth was full of mire made out of flesh and blood. Śini's descendant caused a great destruction among your forces.

पृथ्वी मांस और रक्त से बनी कीचड़ से भर गई थी। शिनि के वंशज ने आपकी सेनाओं में भारी विनाश किया।

दस्यूनां सशिरस्त्राणैः शिरोभिर्लूनमूर्धजैः तत्र तत्र मही कीर्णा विबर्हैरण्डजैरिव

The earth was strewn everywhere with the helmets of bandits and their severed and shaved heads, which looked like birds without feathers.

पृथ्वी हर जगह डाकुओं के हेलमेट और उनके कटे और मुंडा हुए सिरों से बिखरी हुई थी, जो बिना पंख वाले पक्षियों की तरह लग रहे थे।

रुधिरोक्षितसर्वाङ्गैस्तैस्तदायोधनं बभौ कबन्धैः संवृतं सर्वं ताम्राभ्रैः खमिवावृतम्

The field of battle was resplendent, with blood and wounds on the limbs of torsos that were strewn in every direction, like the sky covered with coppery clouds.

युद्ध का मैदान देदीप्यमान था, धड़ के अंगों पर खून और घाव हर दिशा में बिखरे हुए थे, जैसे आकाश तांबे के बादलों से ढका हुआ था।

वज्राशनिसमस्पर्शैः सुपर्वभिरजिह्मगैः ते साश्वयाना निहताः समावव्रुर्वसुंधराम्

The arrows had excellent joints and were like the vajra or thunder to the touch. Horses and carts were destroyed and scattered around on the ground.

तीरों में उत्कृष्ट जोड़ थे और स्पर्श करने पर वे वज्र या वज्र के समान थे। घोड़े और गाड़ियाँ नष्ट हो गईं और ज़मीन पर इधर-उधर बिखर गईं।

अल्पावशिष्टाः संभग्नाः कृच्छ्रप्राणा विचेतसः जिताः संख्ये महाराज युयुधानेन दंशिताः

The few that were left were scattered. They sought to protect their lives and were bereft of their senses. O great king! In that battle, those armoured ones were vanquished by Yuyudhāna.

जो कुछ बचे थे वे बिखर गये। वे अपने जीवन की रक्षा करना चाहते थे और अपनी इंद्रियों से वंचित थे। हे महान राजा! उस युद्ध में युयुधान ने उन कवचधारियों को परास्त कर दिया।

पार्ष्णिभिश्च कशाभिश्च ताडयन्तस्तुरंगमान् जवमुत्तममास्थाय सर्वतः प्राद्रवन्भयात्

They used their whips to urge the pārṣṇi-s and horses to adopt the greatest speed and run away in different directions.

उन्होंने पारसियों और घोड़ों को अधिकतम गति अपनाने और अलग-अलग दिशाओं में भागने के लिए प्रेरित करने के लिए अपने कोड़ों का इस्तेमाल किया।

काम्बोजसैन्यं विद्राव्य दुर्जयं युधि भारत यवनानां च तत्सैन्यं शकानां च महद्बलम्

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! In that battle, he drove away the invincible Kāmboja soldiers, the soldiers of the Yāvana-s and the great army of Śāka-s.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! उस युद्ध में उन्होंने अजेय काम्बोज सैनिकों, यवनों के सैनिकों और शकों की विशाल सेना को मार गिराया।

स ततः पुरुषव्याघ्रः सात्यकिः सत्यविक्रमः प्रहृष्टस्तावकाञ्जित्वा सूतं याहीत्यचोदयत्

Thus did Sātyaki, the tiger among men for whom truth was his valour, defeat those on your side. He was delighted and urged his charioteer to proceed.

इस प्रकार मनुष्यों में बाघ सात्यकि, जिसके लिए सत्य ही उसकी वीरता थी, ने आपके पक्ष के लोगों को परास्त कर दिया। वह प्रसन्न हुआ और उसने अपने सारथी से आगे बढ़ने का आग्रह किया।

तं यान्तं पृष्ठगोप्तारमर्जुनस्य विशां पते चारणाः प्रेक्ष्य संहृष्टास्त्वदीयाश्चाप्यपूजयन्

O lord of the earth! On seeing that he was advancing as the one who was protecting Arjuna's rear, the cāraṇa-s were delighted, and together with those on your side, honoured him.

हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! यह देखकर कि वह अर्जुन के पिछले भाग की रक्षा करने वाले के रूप में आगे बढ़ रहा है, चारण प्रसन्न हुए और आपके पक्ष के लोगों के साथ मिलकर उसका सम्मान किया।
