संजय उवाच तयोः संवदतोरेव कृष्णदारुकयोस्तदा सात्यगाद्रजनी राजन्नथ राजान्वबुध्यत

Sañjaya said: O king! While Kṛṣṇā and Dāruka were conversing in this way, the night ended. The king arose.

संजय ने कहा: हे राजा! जब कृष्ण और दारुक इस प्रकार बातचीत कर रहे थे, तो रात समाप्त हो गई। राजा उठे.

पठन्ति पाणिस्वनिका मागधा मधुपर्किकाः वैतालिकाश्च सूताश्च तुष्टुवुः पुरुषर्षभम्

Pāṇisvanika-s, māgadha-s, mādhuparkika-s, vaitālika-s and sūta-s chanted and satisfied that bull among men.

पाणिस्वनिक-स, मगध-स, मधुपर्किक-स, वैतालिका-स और सूत-स ने जप किया और पुरुषों के बीच उस बैल को संतुष्ट किया।

नर्तकाश्चाप्यनृत्यन्त जगुर्गीतानि गायकाः कुरुवंशस्तवार्थानि मधुरं रक्तकण्ठिनः

Dancers danced. Singers with sweet voices sang praises in honour of the Kuru lineage.

नर्तकों ने नृत्य किया. मधुर स्वर वाले गायकों ने कुरु वंश के सम्मान में स्तुति गाई।

मृदङ्गा झर्झरा भेर्यः पणवानकगोमुखाः आडम्बराश्च शङ्खाश्च दुन्दुभ्यश्च महास्वनाः

There were the loud sounds of mridangas, jhārjhara-s, bherī-s, paṇava-s, ānaka-s, gomukha-s, adamvaras, śaṅkha-s and dundubhī-s.

मृदंग, झरझरा-स, भेरी-स, पणव-स, आनक-स, गोमुख-स, आदमवरस, शंख-स और दुंदुभि-स की ऊंची आवाजें थीं।

एवमेतानि सर्वाणि तथान्यान्यपि भारत वादयन्ति स्म संहृष्टाः कुशलाः साधुशिक्षिताः

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! There were many other musical instruments. Skilled and well-trained ones happily played on them.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! वहाँ कई अन्य संगीत वाद्ययंत्र भी थे। कुशल और अच्छी तरह से प्रशिक्षित लोग ख़ुशी से उन पर खेलते थे।

स मेघसमनिर्घोषो महाञ्शब्दोऽस्पृशद्दिवम् पार्थिवप्रवरं सुप्तं युधिष्ठिरमबोधयत्

That loud noise, like the roar of the clouds, seemed to touch the sky and awoke the sleeping Yudhiṣṭhira, supreme among kings.

बादलों की गर्जना के समान वह तीव्र ध्वनि आकाश को छूती हुई प्रतीत हुई और सोए हुए राजाओं में श्रेष्ठ युधिष्ठिर को जगा दिया।

प्रतिबुद्धः सुखं सुप्तो महार्हे शयनोत्तमे उत्थायावश्यकार्यार्थं ययौ स्नानगृहं ततः

He had slept on an extremely expensive and supreme bed and now arose. Having awoken, he went to the bathroom to perform the required acts.

वह अत्यंत महँगे और उत्तम बिस्तर पर सोया था और अब जाग उठा है। जागने के बाद, वह आवश्यक कार्य करने के लिए बाथरूम में चला गया।

ततः शुक्लाम्बराः स्नातास्तरुणाष्टोत्तरं शतम् स्नापकाः काञ्चनैः कुम्भैः पूर्णैः समुपतस्थिरे

There were a hundred and eight young servants, dressed in white. They had themselves bathed and approached, with golden pots that were full.

वहाँ एक सौ आठ युवा नौकर थे, जो सफ़ेद कपड़े पहने हुए थे। वे स्वयं स्नान करके सोने के घड़े भरे हुए थे।

भद्रासने सूपविष्टः परिधायाम्बरं लघु सस्नौ चन्दनसंयुक्तैः पानीयैरभिमन्त्रितैः

Wearing light garments, he seated himself on his splendid seat. He was bathed in water in which sandalwood had been mixed and over which mantra-s had been recited.

हल्के वस्त्र पहनकर वह अपने शानदार आसन पर बैठ गया। उन्हें उस पानी से नहलाया गया जिसमें चंदन मिलाया गया था और जिस पर मंत्र पढ़े गए थे।

उत्सादितः कषायेण बलवद्भिः सुशिक्षितैः आप्लुतः साधिवासेन जलेन च सुगन्धिना

Well-trained ones rubbed his body with astringent and strong water. He was washed with fragrant and perfumed water.

सुप्रशिक्षित लोगों ने उसके शरीर को कसैले और तेज़ पानी से मल दिया। उसे सुगन्धित और सुगन्धित जल से नहलाया गया।

हरिणा चन्दनेनाङ्गमनुलिप्य महाभुजः स्रग्वी चाक्लिष्टवसनः प्राङ्मुखः प्राञ्जलिः स्थितः

The mighty armed one smeared his body with yellow sandalwood paste. He wore garlands and dressed himself in clean garments. He faced the east and seated himself, hands joined in salutation.

महाबाहु ने अपने शरीर पर पीले चंदन का लेप लगाया। उन्होंने मालाएँ पहनीं और साफ़ वस्त्र पहने। वह पूर्व की ओर मुंह करके बैठ गया, हाथ जोड़कर नमस्कार किया।

जजाप जप्यं कौन्तेयः सतां मार्गमनुष्ठितः ततोऽग्निशरणं दीप्तं प्रविवेश विनीतवत्

Following the path of the virtuous, Kaunteya meditated and chanted. He humbly entered the room where a blazing fire was kept.

कौन्तेय ने सदाचार के मार्ग पर चलते हुए ध्यान और जप किया। वह नम्रतापूर्वक उस कमरे में दाखिल हुआ जहाँ धधकती हुई आग रखी हुई थी।

समिद्धं स पवित्राभिरग्निमाहुतिभिस्तथा मन्त्रपूताभिरर्चित्वा निश्चक्राम गृहात्ततः

He offered sacred kindling and oblations, over which mantra-s had been recited, into the fire. He then emerged from his house.

उन्होंने अग्नि में पवित्र अग्नि और आहुतियां अर्पित कीं, जिन पर मंत्र पढ़े गए थे। फिर वह अपने घर से निकला।

द्वितीयां पुरुषव्याघ्रः कक्ष्यां निष्क्रम्य पार्थिवः तत्र वेदविदो विप्रानपश्यद्ब्राह्मणर्षभान्

The king, tiger among men, entered a second room and saw bulls among brāhmana-s there. Those brāhmana-s were learned in the Veda-s.

राजा, मनुष्यों में बाघ, दूसरे कमरे में दाखिल हुआ और उसने वहां ब्राह्मणों के बीच बैलों को देखा। वे ब्राह्मण वेदों के विद्वान थे।

दान्तान्वेदव्रतस्नातान्स्नातानवभृथेषु च सहस्रानुचरान्सौरानष्टौ दशशतानि च

They were self-controlled and devoted to the Veda-s. They had bathed and performed ablutions after the rites. There were one thousand who worshipped the sun and another eight thousand too.

वे संयमी और वेदों के प्रति समर्पित थे। उन्होंने अनुष्ठान के बाद स्नान और स्नान किया। सूर्य की पूजा करने वाले एक हजार थे और अन्य आठ हजार भी।

अक्षतैः सुमनोभिश्च वाचयित्वा महाभुजः तान्द्विजान्मधुसर्पिर्भ्यां फलैः श्रेष्ठैः सुमङ्गलैः

The mighty-armed one made them recite pleasant benedictions over him. He offered them the best kind of honey mixed with clarified butter and auspicious fruit.

महाबाहु ने उनसे अपने ऊपर सुखद आशीर्वाद सुनाने को कहा। उन्होंने उन्हें घी और शुभ फलों से मिश्रित उत्तम प्रकार का शहद अर्पित किया।

प्रादात्काञ्चनमेकैकं निष्कं विप्राय पाण्डवः अलंकृतं चाश्वशतं वासांसीष्टाश्च दक्षिणाः

Pāṇḍava gave each of those brāhmana-s a golden niṣkā, one hundred ornamented horses, expensive garments, desired dakṣiṇa and cows that yielded milk whenever they were touched.

पांडव ने उन प्रत्येक ब्राह्मण को एक स्वर्ण निष्का, एक सौ अलंकृत घोड़े, बहुमूल्य वस्त्र, वांछित दक्षिणा और ऐसी गायें दीं जो छूने पर दूध देने लगती थीं।

तथा गाः कपिला दोग्ध्रीः सर्षभाः पाण्डुनन्दनः हेमशृङ्गी रूप्यखुरा दत्त्वा चक्रे प्रदक्षिणम्

Pāṇḍu's son also gave them calves with horns decorated in gold and hooves decorated in silver. He then circumambulated them.

पाण्डु के पुत्र ने उन्हें सोने से सजे सींग और चाँदी से सजे खुरों वाले बछड़े भी दिए। फिर उन्होंने उनकी परिक्रमा की।

स्वस्तिकान्वर्धमानांश्च नन्द्यावर्तांश्च काञ्चनान् माल्यं च जलकुम्भांश्च ज्वलितं च हुताशनम्

He also gave them svastika-s that increased fortune, the golden nandyāvarta-s, the garlands, the pots full of gold and the flaming fire.

उन्होंने उन्हें भाग्य बढ़ाने वाला स्वस्तिक-स्वस्तिक, स्वर्ण नंद्यावर्त-, मालाएं, सोने से भरे बर्तन और धधकती आग भी दी।

पूर्णान्यक्षतपात्राणि रुचकान्रोचनांस्तथा स्वलंकृताः शुभाः कन्या दधिसर्पिर्मधूदकम्

There were also vessels full of parched rice, beautiful rucaka-s, pure and ornamented maidens, curds, clarified butter, honey,

वहाँ पके हुए चावल, सुंदर रूकाका, शुद्ध और अलंकृत युवतियाँ, दही, घी, शहद, से भरे बर्तन भी थे।

मङ्गल्यान्पक्षिणश्चैव यच्चान्यदपि पूजितम् दृष्ट्वा स्पृष्ट्वा च कौन्तेयो बाह्यां कक्ष्यामगात्ततः

water, auspicious birds and many other sacred objects. Having seen and touched them, Kaunteya went to the outer chamber.

जल, शुभ पक्षी और कई अन्य पवित्र वस्तुएँ। उन्हें देखकर और छूकर कौन्तेय बाहरी कक्ष में चले गये।

ततस्तस्य महाबाहोस्तिष्ठतः परिचारकाः सौवर्णं सर्वतोभद्रं मुक्तावैडूर्यमण्डितम्

O mighty-armed one! The servants were waiting there. They brought an excellent seat that was completely made out of gold and was decorated with pearls and lapis lazuli.

हे महाबाहु! नौकर वहीं इंतज़ार कर रहे थे. वे एक उत्कृष्ट आसन लाए जो पूरी तरह से सोने से बना था और मोतियों और लापीस लाजुली से सजाया गया था।

परार्ध्यास्तरणास्तीर्णं सोत्तरच्छदमृद्धिमत् विश्वकर्मकृतं दिव्यमुपजह्रुर्वरासनम्

It was covered with a supreme carpet, over which an excellent cover had been spread. This supreme and divine seat had been constructed by Viśvakarma himself.

वह एक सर्वोच्च कालीन से ढका हुआ था, जिसके ऊपर एक उत्कृष्ट आवरण बिछा हुआ था। इस सर्वोच्च एवं दिव्य पीठ का निर्माण स्वयं विश्वकर्मा ने किया था।

तत्र तस्योपविष्टस्य भूषणानि महात्मनः उपजह्रुर्महार्हाणि प्रेष्याः शुभ्राणि सर्वशः

When the great-minded one had seated himself, the servants brought him all his expensive and bright ornaments.

जब वह महान् मन वाला व्यक्ति बैठ गया, तो सेवकों ने उसके सारे बहुमूल्य और चमकीले आभूषण लाकर उसे दे दिये।

युक्ताभरणवेषस्य कौन्तेयस्य महात्मनः रूपमासीन्महाराज द्विषतां शोकवर्धनम्

O great king! Kaunteya's beauty was such that it increased the sorrow of his enemies.

हे महान राजा! कौन्तेय की सुन्दरता ऐसी थी कि उसके शत्रुओं का दुःख बढ़ जाता था।

पाण्डरैश्चन्द्ररश्म्याभैर्हेमदण्डैश्च चामरैः दोधूयमानः शुशुभे विद्युद्भिरिव तोयदः

White whisks that possessed the radiance of the moon and had golden handles were used to fan him. He was as radiant as clouds tinged with lightning.

उसे पंखा झलने के लिए सफेद मूंछों का उपयोग किया जाता था, जिनमें चंद्रमा की चमक होती थी और सुनहरे हैंडल होते थे। वह बिजली से चमकते बादलों के समान दीप्तिमान था।

संस्तूयमानः सूतैश्च वन्द्यमानश्च बन्दिभिः उपगीयमानो गन्धर्वैरास्ते स्म कुरुनन्दनः

He was praised by bards and eulogized by panegyrists. Gāndharva-s began to honour the descendant of the Kuru lineage.

उनकी प्रशंसा चारणों द्वारा की गई और स्तुतिगान करने वालों द्वारा की गई। गंधर्वों ने कुरु वंश के वंशजों का सम्मान करना शुरू कर दिया।

ततो मुहूर्तादासीत्तु बन्दिनां निस्वनो महान् नेमिघोषश्च रथिनां खुरघोषश्च वाजिनाम्

In an instant, the loud noise made by the panegyrists arose. The clatter of chariot wheels and the hooves of horses were heard.

एक पल में, पनीरवालों की तेज़ आवाज़ उठी। रथ के पहियों की गड़गड़ाहट और घोड़ों की टापें सुनाई दे रही थीं।

ह्रादेन गजघण्टानां शङ्खानां निनदेन च नराणां पदशब्दैश्च कम्पतीव स्म मेदिनी

This mingled with the sounds of bells on elephants and the blare of conch shells. The earth trembled because of the footsteps of men.

यह हाथियों की घंटियों की ध्वनि और शंख की ध्वनि के साथ मिश्रित हो गया। मनुष्यों के पदचाप से पृथ्वी कांप उठी।

ततः शुद्धान्तमासाद्य जानुभ्यां भूतले स्थितः शिरसा वन्दनीयं तमभिवन्द्य जगत्पतिम्

Having reached the inner apartments, one stood on the ground with his knees, having bowed his head to the lord of the world, worthy of veneration.

आंतरिक अपार्टमेंट में पहुँचकर, एक व्यक्ति अपने घुटनों के बल ज़मीन पर खड़ा हो गया, उसने विश्व के स्वामी, वंदनीय के सामने अपना सिर झुकाया।

कुण्डली बद्धनिस्त्रिंशः संनद्धकवचो युवा अभिप्रणम्य शिरसा द्वाःस्थो धर्मात्मजाय वै न्यवेदयद्धृषीकेशमुपयातं महात्मने

It was the one charge of the gates that had entered. He was young and armoured. He wore earrings and his sword was girded.He told the great-minded one that Hṛṣīkeśa had arrived.

यह उन द्वारों का एक प्रभार था जो प्रवेश कर चुके थे। वह युवा और बख्तरबंद था। उन्होंने कानों में बालियाँ पहनी हुई थीं और उनकी तलवार कमर में बंधी हुई थी। उन्होंने महान मन वाले को बताया कि हृषीकेश आये हैं।

सोऽब्रवीत्पुरुषव्याघ्रः स्वागतेनैव माधवम् अर्घ्यं चैवासनं चास्मै दीयतां परमार्चितम्

The tiger among men replied, "Let Mādhava be welcome. Let a supreme ārghya and seat be kept ready for him."

मनुष्यों के बीच बाघ ने उत्तर दिया, "माधव का स्वागत किया जाए। उसके लिए एक सर्वोच्च अर्घ्य और आसन तैयार रखा जाए।"

ततः प्रवेश्य वार्ष्णेयमुपवेश्य वरासने सत्कृत्य सत्कृतस्तेन पर्यपृच्छद्युधिष्ठिरः

Vārṣṇeya entered and seated himself on that supreme seat. Yudhiṣṭhira asked him about his welfare and honoured him with worship.

वार्ष्णेय ने प्रवेश किया और स्वयं उस सर्वोच्च आसन पर बैठ गये। युधिष्ठिर ने उनसे उनका कुशलक्षेम पूछा और पूजा करके उनका आदर-सत्कार किया।
