संजय उवाच ततो युधिष्ठिरो राजा रथादाप्लुत्य भारत पर्यष्वजत्तदा कृष्णावानन्दाश्रुपरिप्लुतः

Sañjaya said: O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! King Yudhiṣṭhira alighted from his chariot. With his eyes full of tears, he embraced the two Kṛṣṇās.

संजय ने कहा: हे भरत वंश के वंशज! राजा युधिष्ठिर अपने रथ से उतरे। आँसुओं से भरी आँखों से उन्होंने दोनों कृष्णों को गले लगा लिया।

प्रमृज्य वदनं शुभ्रं पुण्डरीकसमप्रभम् अब्रवीद्वासुदेवं च पाण्डवं च धनंजयम्

His fair face had the complexion of a lotus. Wiping it, he spoke to Vāsudeva and Pāṇḍava Dhanañjayā.

उनके गोरे चेहरे का रंग कमल के समान था। उसे पोंछते हुए उन्होंने वासुदेव और पांडव धनंजय से बात की।

दिष्ट्या पश्यामि संग्रामे तीर्णभारौ महारथौ दिष्ट्या च निहतः पापः सैन्धवः पुरुषाधमः

"O mahāratha-s! It is through good fortune that I see you after you have accomplished this burden in the battle. It is through good fortune that the wicked Saindhava, worst of men, has been killed.

"हे महारथ! यह सौभाग्य ही है कि मैं युद्ध में इस भार को पूरा करने के बाद तुम्हें देख रहा हूं। यह सौभाग्य ही है कि दुष्ट सैंधव, सबसे बुरे व्यक्ति, मारा गया है।

कृष्ण दिष्ट्या मम प्रीतिर्महती प्रतिपादिता दिष्ट्या शत्रुगणाश्चैव निमग्नाः शोकसागरे

O Kṛṣṇā! It is through good fortune that you have brought me this great delight. It is through good fortune that large numbers of the enemy are immersed in an ocean of grief.

हे कृष्ण! यह सौभाग्य है कि आपने मुझे यह महान आनंद दिया है। सौभाग्य से ही बड़ी संख्या में शत्रु दुःख के सागर में डूबे रहते हैं।

न तेषां दुष्करं किंचित्त्रिषु लोकेषु विद्यते सर्वलोकगुरुर्येषां त्वं नाथो मधुसूदन

There is nothing in the worlds that is impossible for you. O Madhusūdana! You are the preceptor of all the worlds. You are the protector.

संसार में ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं है जो आपके लिए असंभव हो। हे मधुसूदन! आप समस्त लोकों के गुरु हैं। आप रक्षक हैं.

तव प्रसादाद्गोविन्द वयं जेष्यामहे रिपून् यथा पूर्वं प्रसादात्ते दानवान्पाकशासनः

O Govinda! It is through your favours that we will vanquish the enemy, just as in earlier times, the chastiser of Pāka defeated the dānava-s through your favours.

हे गोविंद! आपके उपकार से ही हम शत्रु को परास्त करेंगे, जैसे पूर्वकाल में पाक को दंडित करने वाले ने आपके उपकार से दानवों को परास्त किया था।

पृथिवीविजयो वापि त्रैलोक्यविजयोऽपि वा ध्रुवो हि तेषां वार्ष्णेय येषां तुष्टोऽसि माधव

O Vārṣṇeya! O Mādhava! Whether it is the conquest of the earth or whether it is the conquest of the three worlds, it is certain that those who satisfy you will be successful in that.

हे वार्ष्णेय! हे माधव! चाहे वह पृथ्वी पर विजय हो या चाहे तीनों लोकों पर विजय हो, यह निश्चित है कि जो तुम्हें संतुष्ट करेगा वही उसमें सफल होगा।

न तेषां विद्यते पापं संग्रामे वा पराजयः त्रिदशेश्वरनाथस्त्वं येषां तुष्टोऽसि माधव

O lord of the lord of the gods! Those who satisfy you do not obtain sin, nor are they defeated in battle.

हे देवाधिदेव! जो तुम्हें संतुष्ट करते हैं, उन्हें पाप नहीं प्राप्त होता और न ही वे युद्ध में पराजित होते हैं।

त्वत्प्रसादाद्धृषीकेश शक्रः सुरगणेश्वरः त्रैलोक्यविजयं श्रीमान्प्राप्तवान्रणमूर्धनि

O Hṛṣīkeśa! It is through your favours that Śākra became the lord of the gods, obtained prosperity and succeeded in conquering the three worlds in the field of battle.

हे हृषीकेश! आपकी कृपा से ही शक्र देवताओं के स्वामी बने, समृद्धि प्राप्त की और युद्ध के मैदान में तीनों लोकों पर विजय प्राप्त करने में सफल हुए।

तव चैव प्रसादेन त्रिदशास्त्रिदशेश्वर अमरत्वं गताः कृष्ण लोकांश्चाश्नुवतेऽक्षयान्

O lord of the thirty gods! O Kṛṣṇā! It is through your favours that the thirty gods obtained immortality and enjoyed the eternal worlds.

हे तीस देवताओं के स्वामी! हे कृष्ण! आपकी कृपा से ही तीस देवताओं ने अमरत्व प्राप्त किया और अनन्त लोकों का आनन्द उठाया।

त्वत्प्रसादसमुत्थेन विक्रमेणारिसूदन सुरेशत्वं गतः शक्रो हत्वा दैत्यान्सहस्रशः

O destroyer of enemies! It is because of valour originating from your favours that Śākra killed thousands of daitya-s and became the lord of the gods.

हे शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले! आपके उपकार से उत्पन्न पराक्रम के कारण ही शक्र ने हजारों दैत्यों को मार डाला और देवताओं का स्वामी बन गया।

त्वत्प्रसादाद्धृषीकेश जगत्स्थावरजङ्गमम् स्ववर्त्मनि स्थितं वीर जपहोमेषु वर्तते

O Hṛṣīkeśa! O brave one! It is through your favours that everything in this universe, mobile and immobile, is established in its own place and is engaged in meditation and the offering of oblations.

हे हृषीकेश! हे वीर! यह आपकी कृपा ही है कि इस ब्रह्माण्ड की हर वस्तु, स्थावर और स्थावर, अपने-अपने स्थान पर स्थित है और ध्यान तथा आहुतियाँ देने में लगी हुई है।

एकार्णवमिदं पूर्वं सर्वमासीत्तमोमयम् त्वत्प्रसादात्प्रकाशत्वं जगत्प्राप्तं नरोत्तम

In the beginning, everything was immersed in an ocean of water and there was darkness. O supreme among men! It is through your favours that the universe became manifest.

आरंभ में, सब कुछ पानी के सागर में डूबा हुआ था और वहाँ अंधकार था। हे मनुष्यों में श्रेष्ठ! आपके उपकार से ही जगत् प्रकट हुआ।

स्रष्टारं सर्वलोकानां परमात्मानमच्युतम् ये प्रपन्ना हृषीकेशं न ते मुह्यन्ति कर्हिचित्

O Acyuta! You are the creator of all the worlds and the supreme soul. Those who seek refuge in Hṛṣīkeśa are never confounded.

हे अच्युत! आप समस्त लोकों के रचयिता एवं परमात्मा हैं। जो लोग हृषीकेश की शरण लेते हैं वे कभी निराश नहीं होते।

अनादिनिधनं देवं लोककर्तारमव्ययम् त्वां भक्ता ये हृषीकेश दुर्गाण्यतितरन्ति ते

You are without beginning and without death. You are the undecaying god who drives the worlds. O Hṛṣīkeśa! Those who are devoted to you can overcome every difficulty.

आप अनादि और मृत्यु रहित हैं। आप संसार को चलाने वाले अविनाशी देवता हैं। हे हृषीकेश! जो लोग आपके प्रति समर्पित हैं वे हर कठिनाई को पार कर सकते हैं।

परं पुराणं पुरुषं पुराणानां परं च यत् प्रपद्यतस्तं परमं परा भूतिर्विधीयते

You are supreme. You are ancient. You are the Being. You are ancient. You are supreme. Those who attain such a supreme one, obtain supreme prosperity.

आप सर्वोच्च हैं. आप प्राचीन हैं. आप अस्तित्व हैं. आप प्राचीन हैं. आप सर्वोच्च हैं. जो लोग ऐसे परम को प्राप्त कर लेते हैं, उन्हें परम समृद्धि प्राप्त होती है।

योऽगात चतुरो वेदान्यश्च वेदेषु गीयते तं प्रपद्य महात्मानं भूतिमाप्नोत्यनुत्तमाम्

You have been sung about in the four Veda-s. The Veda-s chant about you. O great-souled one! By seeking refuge in you, I will obtain supreme prosperity.

चारों वेदों में आपका गुणगान किया गया है। वेद आपके बारे में मंत्रोच्चार करते हैं। हे महानात्मा! आपकी शरण पाकर मुझे परम समृद्धि प्राप्त होगी।

धनंजयसखा यश्च धनंजयहितश्च यः तं धनंजयगोप्तारं प्रपद्य सुखमेधते

You are Dhanañjayā's friend. You are engaged in ensuring Dhanañjayā's welfare. You are Dhanañjayā's protector. He who attains you, obtains happiness."

आप धनंजय के मित्र हैं। आप धनंजय का कल्याण सुनिश्चित करने में लगे हुए हैं। आप धनंजय के रक्षक हैं। जो तुम्हें प्राप्त कर लेता है, वह सुख प्राप्त कर लेता है।”

इत्युक्तौ तौ महात्मानावुभौ केशवपाण्डवौ तावब्रूतां तदा हृष्टौ राजानं पृथिवीपतिम्

Having been thus addressed, the great-souled Keśava and Pāṇḍava cheerfully replied to the king, the lord of the earth.

इस प्रकार सम्बोधित किये जाने पर महाबली केशव तथा पाण्डव ने प्रसन्नतापूर्वक पृथ्वी के स्वामी राजा को उत्तर दिया।

तव कोपाग्निना दग्धः पापो राजा जयद्रथः उदीर्णं चापि सुमहद्धार्तराष्ट्रबलं रणे

"The wicked King Jayadratha has been burnt in the fire of your anger. O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! The army of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra is extremely great.

"दुष्ट राजा जयद्रथ आपके क्रोध की आग में जल गया है। हे भरत वंश के वंशज! धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों की सेना अत्यंत महान है।"

हन्यते निहतं चैव विनङ्क्ष्यति च भारत तव क्रोधहता ह्येते कौरवाः शत्रुसूदन

But in the battle, it is decaying. It has been struck, slain and destroyed. O destroyer of enemies! The Kaurava-s are being destroyed because of your anger.

लेकिन युद्ध में इसका क्षय हो रहा है। इसे मारा गया, मारा गया और नष्ट कर दिया गया। हे शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले! आपके क्रोध के कारण ही कौरवों का विनाश हो रहा है।

त्वां हि चक्षुर्हणं वीरं कोपयित्वा सुयोधनः समित्रबन्धुः समरे प्राणांस्त्यक्ष्यति दुर्मतिः

O brave one! The evil-minded Duryodhana has enraged you. With his friends and relatives, he will give up his life in this battle, destroyed by your sight.

हे वीर! दुष्टबुद्धि दुर्योधन ने तुम्हें क्रोधित कर दिया है। वह आपके देखते ही देखते अपने बन्धु-बान्धवों सहित इस युद्ध में नष्ट होकर अपने प्राण त्याग देगा।

तव क्रोधहतः पूर्वं देवैरपि सुदुर्जयः शरतल्पगतः शेते भीष्मः कुरुपितामहः

Earlier, because of your anger, Bhīṣma, the grandfather of the Kuru-s and extremely difficult for even the gods to defeat, was struck and made to lie down on a bed of arrows.

इससे पहले, आपके क्रोध के कारण कुरुवंश के पितामह और देवताओं के लिए भी हराना अत्यंत कठिन भीष्म पर प्रहार किया गया था और उन्हें बाणों की शय्या पर लिटा दिया गया था।

दुर्लभो हि जयस्तेषां संग्रामे रिपुसूदन याता मृत्युवशं ते वै येषां क्रुद्धोऽसि पाण्डव

O destroyer of enemies! It will be extremely difficult for them to obtain victory in this battle. O Pāṇḍava! Because of your wrath, they have come under the clutches of death.

हे शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले! इस युद्ध में विजय प्राप्त करना उनके लिए अत्यंत कठिन होगा। हे पाण्डव! आपके क्रोध के कारण वे मृत्यु के पंजे में आ गये हैं।

राज्यं प्राणाः प्रियाः पुत्राः सौख्यानि विविधानि च अचिरात्तस्य नश्यन्ति येषां क्रुद्धोऽसि मानद

O granter of honours! One who enrages you will soon have his kingdom, life, dear ones, sons and all kinds of happiness destroyed.

हे सम्मान प्रदान करने वाले! जो तुम्हें क्रोधित करेगा उसका राज्य, जीवन, प्रियजन, पुत्र और सभी प्रकार के सुख शीघ्र ही नष्ट हो जायेंगे।

विनष्टान्कौरवान्मन्ये सपुत्रपशुबान्धवान् राजधर्मपरे नित्यं त्वयि क्रुद्धे युधिष्ठिर

O Yudhiṣṭhira! You have always been devoted to the dharma of kings. I think that the Kaurava-s, with their sons, animals and relatives, have been destroyed because of your anger."

हे युधिष्ठिर! आप सदैव राजाओं के धर्म के प्रति समर्पित रहे हैं। मुझे लगता है कि आपके क्रोध के कारण कौरव अपने पुत्रों, जानवरों और रिश्तेदारों सहित नष्ट हो गए हैं।"

ततो भीमो महाबाहुः सात्यकिश्च महारथः अभिवाद्य गुरुं ज्येष्ठं मार्गणैः क्षतविक्षतौ स्थितावास्तां महेष्वासौ पाञ्चाल्यैः परिवारितौ

Then the mighty-armed Bhīmā and mahāratha Sātyaki, both of whom were mangled and wounded by arrows, saluted their senior and elder. Those great archers were stationed there, surrounded by the Pāñcāla-s.

तब महाबाहु भीम और महारथी सात्यकि, जो दोनों बाणों से घायल और घायल हो गये थे, उन्होंने अपने वरिष्ठ और अग्रज को प्रणाम किया। वे महान धनुर्धर पंचालों से घिरे हुए वहाँ तैनात थे।

तौ दृष्ट्व मुदितौ वीरौ प्राञ्जली चाग्रतः स्थितौ अभ्यनन्दत कौन्तेयस्तावुभौ भीमसात्यकी

On seeing those two joyful ones, stationed before him, with their hands joined in salutation, Kaunteya congratulated Bhīmā and Sātyaki.

अपने सामने खड़े उन दोनों हर्षित लोगों को हाथ जोड़कर नमस्कार करते हुए देखकर कौन्तेय ने भीम और सात्यकि को बधाई दी।

दिष्ट्या पश्यामि वां वीरौ विमुक्तौ सैन्यसागरात् द्रोणग्राहाद्दुराधर्षाद्धार्दिक्यमकरालयात् दिष्ट्या च निर्जिताः संख्ये पृथिव्यां सर्वपार्थिवाः

O brave ones! It is through good fortune that I see that the two of you have been freed from that ocean of soldiers. Droṇa and Hārdikya were like invincible crocodiles in that abode of makara-s. It is through good fortune that you have defeated all the kings of the earth in the battle.

हे वीरों! यह सौभाग्य ही है कि मैं देख रहा हूं कि तुम दोनों सैनिकों के उस सागर से मुक्त हो गये हो। द्रोण और हार्दिक्य मकर के उस निवास में अजेय मगरमच्छ की तरह थे। सौभाग्य से ही तुमने पृथ्वी के समस्त राजाओं को युद्ध में परास्त किया है।

युवां विजयिनौ चापि दिष्ट्या पश्यामि संयुगे दिष्ट्या द्रोणो जितः संख्ये हार्दिक्यश्च महाबलः

It is through good fortune that I see you victorious in this battle. It is through good fortune that Droṇa and the immensely strong Hārdikya have been defeated in the battle.

यह सौभाग्य ही है कि मैं तुम्हें इस युद्ध में विजयी देखता हूँ। यह सौभाग्य ही है कि द्रोण और अत्यंत बलशाली हार्दिक्य युद्ध में हार गये।

सैन्यार्णवं समुत्तीर्णौ दिष्ट्या पश्यामि चानघौ समरश्लाघिनौ वीरौ समरेष्वपलायिनौ मम प्राणसमौ चैव दिष्ट्या पश्यामि वामहम्

O unblemished ones! It is through good fortune that I see that you have passed through that ocean of soldiers. O brave ones! You pride yourselves in battle and you do not run away from an encounter. You are as dear to me as my life. It is good fortune that I am seeing both of you.

हे निष्कलंक! यह सौभाग्य ही है कि मैं देख रहा हूं कि आप सैनिकों के उस सागर से होकर गुजरे हैं। हे वीरों! तुम्हें युद्ध पर गर्व है और तुम मुठभेड़ से भागते नहीं हो। तुम मुझे मेरी जान जितनी प्यारी हो. यह मेरा सौभाग्य है कि मैं तुम दोनों को देख रहा हूँ।

इत्युक्त्वा पाण्डवो राजा युयुधानवृकोदरौ सस्वजे पुरुषव्याघ्रौ हर्षाद्बाष्पं मुमोच ह

Having thus spoken to Yuyudhāna and Vṛkodara, tigers among men, King Pāṇḍava embraced them and shed tears of joy.

मनुष्यों में सिंह युयुधान और वृकोदर से इस प्रकार कहकर राजा पांडव ने उन्हें गले लगा लिया और खुशी के आँसू बहाये।

ततः प्रमुदितं सर्वं बलमासीद्विशां पते पाण्डवानां जयं दृष्ट्वा युद्धाय च मनो दधे

O lord of the earth! Everyone in that army was delighted. Having witnessed victory, the Pāṇḍava-s set their minds on fighting.

हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! उस सेना में सभी लोग प्रसन्न थे। जीत देखने के बाद, पांडवों ने युद्ध करने का मन बनाया।
