वासुदेव उवाच ततः स प्रयतो भूत्वा मम तात युधिष्ठिर प्राञ्जलिः प्राह विप्रर्षिर्नामसंहारमादितः

न शक्यं विस्तरात्कृत्स्नं वक्तुं शर्वस्य केनचित् युक्तेनापि विभूतीनामपि वर्षशतैरपि

Whose beginning, middle, and end are not known even by the gods, Who can describe all his qualities in full, O Mādhava?

दश नामसहस्राणि यान्याह प्रपितामहः तानि निर्मथ्य मनसा दध्नो घृतमिवोद्धृतम्

सर्वपाप्मापहमिदं चतुर्वेदसमन्वितम् प्रयत्नेनाधिगन्तव्यं धार्यं च प्रयतात्मना शान्तिकं पौष्टिकं चैव रक्षोघ्नं पावनं महत्

इदं ध्यानमिदं योगमिदं ध्येयमनुत्तमम् इदं जप्यमिदं ज्ञानं रहस्यमिदमुत्तमम् इदं ज्ञात्वान्तकालेऽपि गच्छेद्धि परमां गतिम्

This is meditation, this is yoga, this is the supreme object of meditation, This is the mantra to be recited, this is knowledge, this is the supreme secret. Knowing this, even at the time of death, one attains the supreme goal.

यही ध्यान है, यही योग है, यही ध्यान का परम उद्देश्य है, यही जपने योग्य मंत्र है, यही ज्ञान है, यही परम रहस्य है। यह जानकर मनुष्य मृत्यु के समय भी परम लक्ष्य को प्राप्त कर लेता है।

पवित्रं मङ्गलं पुण्यं कल्याणमिदमुत्तमम् निगदिष्ये महाबाहो स्तवानामुत्तमं स्तवम्

This is sacred, auspicious, meritorious, auspicious, and excellent. O mighty-armed one, I shall recite the supreme hymn among hymns.

यह पवित्र, शुभ, पुण्यप्रद, मंगलकारी तथा उत्कृष्ट है। हे महाबाहो, मैं स्तोत्रों में सर्वोच्च स्तोत्र का पाठ करूँगा।

इदं ब्रह्मा पुरा कृत्वा सर्वलोकपितामहः सर्वस्तवानां दिव्यानां राजत्वे समकल्पयत्

The one with eyes on the forehead, the one with the body of all beings, the deer, the one with the splendor of the Vedas, The lord of the immobile beings, the one who increases the control of the senses,

जिसके माथे पर आंखें हैं, वह सभी प्राणियों के शरीर वाला है, मृग है, वह वेदों की महिमा वाला है, अचल प्राणियों का स्वामी है, जो इंद्रियों पर नियंत्रण बढ़ाता है,

सिद्धार्थः सर्वभूतार्थोऽचिन्त्यः सत्यव्रतः शुचिः व्रताधिपः परं ब्रह्म मुक्तानां परमा गतिः

सिद्धार्थ, सभी प्राणियों का लक्ष्य, अकल्पनीय, अपनी प्रतिज्ञाओं के प्रति सच्चा, शुद्ध, व्रतों का स्वामी, सर्वोच्च ब्रह्म, मुक्त का सर्वोच्च लक्ष्य।

विमुक्तो मुक्ततेजाश्च श्रीमाञ्श्रीवर्धनो जगत् यथाप्रधानं भगवानिति भक्त्या स्तुतो मया

Liberated, liberated in splendor, glorious, the enhancer of glory, the world, The Blessed One, as the chief, has been praised by me with devotion.

उन्मुक्त, तेजस्विता से मुक्त, वैभवशाली, महिमा को बढ़ाने वाले, जगत् को, प्रमुख रूप से धन्यभागी की मैंने भक्तिपूर्वक स्तुति की है।

यं न ब्रह्मादयो देवा विदुर्यं न महर्षयः तं स्तव्यमर्च्यं वन्द्यं च कः स्तोष्यति जगत्पतिम्

Whom even Brahma and the other gods do not know, whom even the great sages do not know, Who is worthy of praise, worship, and salutation, who is the Lord of the universe, who will praise him?

जिसे ब्रह्मा आदि देवता भी नहीं जानते, जिसे बड़े-बड़े ऋषि भी नहीं जानते, जो स्तुति, पूजा और नमस्कार के योग्य है, जो जगत का स्वामी है, उसकी स्तुति कौन करेगा?

भक्तिमेव पुरस्कृत्य मया यज्ञपतिर्वसुः ततोऽभ्यनुज्ञां प्राप्यैव स्तुतो मतिमतां वरः

Having placed devotion first, I have worshipped the lord of sacrifice, Vasu. Then, having obtained his permission, I praised the best of the wise.

भक्ति को प्रथम स्थान पर रखकर मैंने यज्ञ के देवता वसु की पूजा की है। फिर उनकी अनुमति पाकर मैंने श्रेष्ठ बुद्धिमानों की स्तुति की।

शिवमेभिः स्तुवन्देवं नामभिः पुष्टिवर्धनैः नित्ययुक्तः शुचिर्भूत्वा प्राप्नोत्यात्मानमात्मना

One who is always engaged and pure, praising this Lord Śiva with these names that increase prosperity, attains the Self by the Self.

जो व्यक्ति सदैव तत्पर और शुद्ध रहता है और समृद्धि बढ़ाने वाले इन नामों से भगवान शिव की स्तुति करता है, वह स्वयं ही आत्मा को प्राप्त हो जाता है।

एतद्धि परमं ब्रह्म स्वयं गीतं स्वयंभुवा ऋषयश्चैव देवाश्च स्तुवन्त्येतेन तत्परम्

This is the supreme Brahman, sung by the Self-existent One Himself. The sages and the gods praise that supreme one with this.

यह सर्वोच्च ब्रह्म है, जिसे स्वयंभू ने स्वयं गाया है। ऋषि और देवता इसी से उस परम पुरुष की स्तुति करते हैं।

स्तूयमानो महादेवः प्रीयते चात्मनामभिः भक्तानुकम्पी भगवानात्मसंस्थान्करोति तान्

The great god is pleased by the praises of his devotees. The Lord, who is compassionate towards his devotees, makes them abide in himself.

महान भगवान अपने भक्तों की स्तुति से प्रसन्न होते हैं। भगवान, जो अपने भक्तों के प्रति दयालु हैं, उन्हें अपने में बसा लेते हैं।

तथैव च मनुष्येषु ये मनुष्याः प्रधानतः आस्तिकाः श्रद्दधानाश्च बहुभिर्जन्मभिः स्तवैः

And in the same way, among humans, those humans who are foremost are the believers, the faithful, who have been praised by many births.

और इसी प्रकार मनुष्यों में भी जो मनुष्य सर्वोपरि हैं, वे आस्तिक हैं, आस्थावान हैं, जिनकी अनेक जन्मों से प्रशंसा हुई है।

जाग्रतश्च स्वपन्तश्च व्रजन्तः पथि संस्थिताः स्तुवन्ति स्तूयमानाश्च तुष्यन्ति च रमन्ति च जन्मकोटिसहस्रेषु नानासंसारयोनिषु

Whether awake or asleep, whether walking or standing still, They praise, are praised, and rejoice. For thousands of millions of births, in various worldly existences,

चाहे जागते हों या सोते हों, चाहे चलते हों या खड़े हों, वे स्तुति करते हैं, स्तुति करते हैं, और आनन्दित होते हैं। हजारों-लाखों जन्मों तक, विभिन्न सांसारिक अस्तित्वों में,

जन्तोर्विशुद्धपापस्य भवे भक्तिः प्रजायते उत्पन्ना च भवे भक्तिरनन्या सर्वभावतः

For a being whose sins have been purified, devotion arises in the world. And when devotion has arisen in the world, it is undivided and of all kinds.

जिस प्राणी के पाप शुद्ध हो गए हैं, उसके लिए संसार में भक्ति उत्पन्न होती है। और जब संसार में भक्ति उत्पन्न हुई है तो वह अखंड और सभी प्रकार की है।

कारणं भावितं तस्य सर्वमुक्तस्य सर्वतः एतद्देवेषु दुष्प्रापं मनुष्येषु न लभ्यते

The cause of that liberation from all, everywhere, is cultivated. This is difficult to attain among the gods, and is not found among humans.

सब से, सर्वत्र, उस मुक्ति के कारण की खेती की जाती है। देवताओं के बीच इसे प्राप्त करना कठिन है, और मनुष्यों के बीच यह नहीं पाया जाता है।

निर्विघ्ना निश्चला रुद्रे भक्तिरव्यभिचारिणी तस्यैव च प्रसादेन भक्तिरुत्पद्यते नृणाम् यया यान्ति परां सिद्धिं तद्भावगतचेतसः

O Rudra, may your devotion be free from obstacles, unwavering, and unerring. And by his grace, devotion arises in people, By which those whose minds are absorbed in his state attain supreme perfection.

हे रूद्र, आपकी भक्ति विघ्नों से मुक्त, अटल और अटल हो। और उनकी कृपा से लोगों में भक्ति उत्पन्न होती है, जिससे जिनका मन उनकी अवस्था में लीन होता है, उन्हें परम सिद्धि प्राप्त होती है।

ये सर्वभावोपगताः परत्वेनाभवन्नराः प्रपन्नवत्सलो देवः संसारात्तान्समुद्धरेत्

May the Lord, who is kind to those who take refuge in him, deliver those men who have fallen into all states of existence.

भगवान, जो अपने शरण में आने वालों के प्रति दयालु हैं, उन मनुष्यों का उद्धार करें जो अस्तित्व की सभी अवस्थाओं में गिर गए हैं।

एवमन्ये न कुर्वन्ति देवाः संसारमोचनम् मनुष्याणां महादेवादन्यत्रापि तपोबलात्

In this way, other gods do not perform the liberation from worldly existence. For humans, it is through the power of austerities, apart from the great god.

इस प्रकार अन्य देवता सांसारिक भव से मुक्ति का कार्य नहीं करते। मनुष्यों के लिए, यह महान ईश्वर के अलावा, तपस्या की शक्ति के माध्यम से है।

इति तेनेन्द्रकल्पेन भगवान्सदसत्पतिः कृत्तिवासाः स्तुतः कृष्ण तण्डिना शुद्धबुद्धिना

Thus the Lord, the Lord of the existent and the non-existent, was praised by the pure-minded Kṛṣṇatāṇḍin, who was like Indra.

इस प्रकार भगवान, विद्यमान और गैर-अस्तित्व के स्वामी, की स्तुति शुद्ध मन वाले कृष्णानंदिन द्वारा की गई, जो इंद्र के समान थे।

स्तवमेतं भगवतो ब्रह्मा स्वयमधारयत् ब्रह्मा प्रोवाच शक्राय शक्रः प्रोवाच मृत्यवे

Brahma himself retained this hymn to the Blessed One. Brahma told it to Indra, Indra told it to Death.

स्वयं ब्रह्मा ने इस स्तोत्र को भगवान के लिए सुरक्षित रखा। ब्रह्मा ने इसे इंद्र को बताया, इंद्र ने इसे मृत्यु को बताया।

मृत्युः प्रोवाच रुद्राणां रुद्रेभ्यस्तण्डिमागमत् महता तपसा प्राप्तस्तण्डिना ब्रह्मसद्मनि

Death said to the Rudras, and the Rudras to Tándi. Tándi, having attained it by great austerities, in the abode of Brahma,

मृत्यु ने रुद्रों से कहा, और रुद्रों ने तण्डि से। तण्डि ने ब्रह्मा के धाम में बड़ी तपस्या से इसे प्राप्त किया,

तण्डिः प्रोवाच शुक्राय गौतमायाह भार्गवः वैवस्वताय मनवे गौतमः प्राह माधव

Tandu told it to Shukra, Bhargava told it to Gautama, Gautama told it to Manu Vaivasvata, Madhava told it to Gautama.

तंडु ने इसे शुक्र को बताया, भार्गव ने इसे गौतम को बताया, गौतम ने इसे मनु वैवस्वत को बताया, माधव ने इसे गौतम को बताया।

नारायणाय साध्याय मनुरिष्टाय धीमते यमाय प्राह भगवान्साध्यो नारायणोऽच्युतः

To Narayana, the Accomplished One, to Manu, the Wise One, to Yama, the Lord, the Accomplished One, the Unchanging Narayana spoke.

नारायण से, पूर्ण व्यक्ति से, मनु से, बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति से, यम से, भगवान, पूर्ण व्यक्ति, अपरिवर्तनीय नारायण ने बात की।

नाचिकेताय भगवानाह वैवस्वतो यमः मार्कण्डेयाय वार्ष्णेय नाचिकेतोऽभ्यभाषत

The Blessed One, Yama, the son of Vivasvat, said to Naciketas. The Varshneya Markandeya spoke to Naciketas.

विवस्वत के पुत्र भगवान यम ने नचिकेता से कहा। वार्ष्णेय मार्कण्डेय ने नचिकेता से बात की।

मार्कण्डेयान्मया प्राप्तं नियमेन जनार्दन तवाप्यहममित्रघ्न स्तवं दद्म्यद्य विश्रुतम् स्वर्ग्यमारोग्यमायुष्यं धन्यं बल्यं तथैव च

I have received it from Markandeya, O Janardana, by means of vows. O slayer of enemies, I am now giving you this famous hymn. It is conducive to heaven, health, longevity, prosperity, and strength.

हे जनार्दन, मैंने इसे प्रतिज्ञा के माध्यम से मार्कंडेय से प्राप्त किया है। हे शत्रुओं के संहारक, अब मैं तुम्हें यह प्रसिद्ध स्तोत्र सुनाता हूँ। यह स्वर्ग, स्वास्थ्य, दीर्घायु, समृद्धि और शक्ति के लिए अनुकूल है।

न तस्य विघ्नं कुर्वन्ति दानवा यक्षराक्षसाः पिशाचा यातुधानाश्च गुह्यका भुजगा अपि

Demons, yakshas, rakshasas, pishachas, yatudhanas, guhyakas, and serpents do not create obstacles for him.

दानव, यक्ष, राक्षस, पिशाच, यातुधान, गुह्यक और नाग उसके लिए बाधा उत्पन्न नहीं करते।

यः पठेत शुचिर्भूत्वा ब्रह्मचारी जितेन्द्रियः अभग्नयोगो वर्षं तु सोऽश्वमेधफलं लभेत्

He who, being pure, celibate, and having conquered the senses, recites this for a year without breaking the yoga, obtains the fruit of a horse sacrifice.

जो शुद्ध, ब्रह्मचारी तथा इन्द्रियों को जीतकर बिना योग भंग किए एक वर्ष तक इसका पाठ करता है, उसे अश्व यज्ञ का फल प्राप्त होता है।
