There is no doubt that you are free from the pride of form, youth, and beauty. Fortunate are you that they do not overpower you; this is your good fortune.

I praise giving, you praise austerity. Austerity is the purifier of the Vedas, austerity is the means to heaven.

मैं देने की प्रशंसा करता हूँ, तुम तपस्या की प्रशंसा करते हो। तपस्या वेदों को पवित्र करने वाली है, तपस्या स्वर्ग का साधन है।

तपसा महदाप्नोति विद्यया चेति नः श्रुतम् तपसैव चापनुदेद्यच्चान्यदपि दुष्कृतम्

We have heard that one attains greatness through austerities and knowledge. And it is through austerities alone that one removes whatever other evil there may be.

हमने सुना है कि तपस्या और ज्ञान से महानता प्राप्त होती है। और केवल तपस्या के माध्यम से ही व्यक्ति अन्य सभी बुराइयों को दूर कर सकता है।

यद्यद्धि किंचित्संधाय पुरुषस्तप्यते तपः सर्वमेतदवाप्नोति ब्राह्मणो वेदपारगः

Whatever a man may undertake to do, he attains it all, if he is a Brahmin who has mastered the Vedas.

One who drinks liquor, one who takes what is not given, one who kills a fetus, one who has sexual intercourse with the wife of his teacher, all of these are liberated by austerities

सर्वे पूज्याः श्रुतधनास्तथैव च तपस्विनः दानप्रदाः सुखं प्रेत्य प्राप्नुवन्तीह च श्रियम्

All those who are learned and have wealth, and those who are ascetics, and those who give gifts, attain happiness after death and attain prosperity here.

This world of Brahma, this world of the strong, The virtuous attain through gifts of food.

पूजिताः पूजयन्त्येतान्मानिता मानयन्ति च अदाता यत्र यत्रैति सर्वतः संप्रणुद्यते

Those who are worshipped worship them, those who are honoured honour them. Wherever the giver goes, he is honoured everywhere.

One who is not the doer and one who is the doer, obtains what is appropriate. If you are going to go to the world above or below,

You will obtain the food and drink that you give to others. You will be born in a family of the wise, learned, and compassionate.

जो खाना-पीना तुम दूसरों को दोगे वही तुम्हें मिलेगा। आपका जन्म बुद्धिमान, विद्वान और दयालु परिवार में होगा।

कौमारदारव्रतवान्मैत्रेय निरतो भव एतद्गृहाण प्रथमं प्रशस्तं गृहमेधिनाम्

O Maitreya, be devoted to the vow of celibacy and to friendship. Take this first, which is praised by those who dwell in the household.

हे मैत्रेय, ब्रह्मचर्य व्रत और मित्रता के प्रति समर्पित रहो। पहले यह लो, जिसकी प्रशंसा घर में रहने वाले करते हैं।

यो भर्ता वासितातुष्टो भर्तुस्तुष्टा च वासिता यस्मिन्नेवं कुले सर्वं कल्याणं तत्र वर्तते

The husband is satisfied when the wife is satisfied, and the wife is satisfied when the husband is satisfied. In a family where this is the case, all good things take place.

जब पत्नी संतुष्ट होती है तो पति संतुष्ट होता है और जब पति संतुष्ट होता है तो पत्नी भी संतुष्ट होती है। जिस परिवार में ऐसा होता है, वहां सभी अच्छी चीजें होती हैं।

अद्भिर्गात्रान्मलमिव तमोऽग्निप्रभया यथा दानेन तपसा चैव सर्वपापमपोह्यते

Just as the body is cleansed of dirt by water, and darkness by the light of fire, All sins are removed by generosity and austerities.

जिस प्रकार जल से शरीर की गंदगी और अग्नि के प्रकाश से अंधकार दूर हो जाता है, उसी प्रकार उदारता और तपस्या से सभी पाप दूर हो जाते हैं।

स्वस्ति प्राप्नुहि मैत्रेय गृहान्साधु व्रजाम्यहम् एतन्मनसि कर्तव्यं श्रेय एवं भविष्यति

May you be well, Maitreya. I shall go home. It is good that I go. This should be kept in mind. This will lead to welfare.

आप स्वस्थ रहें, मैत्रेय। मैं घर जाऊँगा. यह अच्छा है कि मैं चला गया. इस बात का ध्यान रखना चाहिए. इससे कल्याण होगा.

तं प्रणम्याथ मैत्रेयः कृत्वा चाभिप्रदक्षिणम् स्वस्ति प्राप्नोतु भगवानित्युवाच कृताञ्जलिः

Having bowed to him, Maitreya circumambulated him and, with folded hands, said, "May the Blessed One be well."
