संजय उवाच अथ राजन्महाबाहुः सात्यकिर्युद्धदुर्मदः विकृष्य चापं समरे भारसाधनमुत्तमम्

Sañjaya said: O king! The mighty-armed Sātyaki, invincible in battle, drew a supreme bow, capable of withstanding a great burden, in that battle.

संजय ने कहा: हे राजा! युद्ध में अजेय महाबाहु सात्यकि ने उस युद्ध में महान भार सहने में सक्षम एक सर्वोच्च धनुष निकाला।

प्रामुञ्चत्पुङ्खसंयुक्ताञ्शरानाशीविषोपमान् प्रकाशं लघु चित्रं च दर्शयन्नस्त्रलाघवम्

He discharged many tufted arrows that were like virulent serpents. He displayed the deep, light and wonderful dexterity of his hands.

उन्होंने बहुत से दाँतेदार बाण छोड़े जो विषैले सर्पों के समान थे। उन्होंने अपने हाथों की गहरी, हल्की और अद्भुत निपुणता का प्रदर्शन किया।

तस्य विक्षिपतश्चापं शरानन्यांश्च मुञ्चतः आददानस्य भूयश्च संदधानस्य चापरान्

He drew the bow, affixed arrows to it, discharged them and affixed others so swiftly

उसने इतनी तेजी से धनुष खींचा, उस पर बाण चढ़ाये, उन्हें छोड़ा और दूसरों को भी चढ़ा दिया

क्षिपतश्च शरानस्य रणे शत्रून्विनिघ्नतः ददृशे रूपमत्यर्थं मेघस्येव प्रवर्षतः

that he seemed to be like a beautiful cloud that was showering down rain. He killed the enemies in that battle.

वह एक सुंदर बादल की तरह लग रहा था जो बारिश बरसा रहा था। उन्होंने उस युद्ध में शत्रुओं को मार गिराया।

तमुदीर्यन्तमालोक्य राजा दुर्योधनस्ततः रथानामयुतं तस्य प्रेषयामास भारत

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! King Duryodhana saw that he was blazing and despatched ten thousand chariots against him.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! राजा दुर्योधन ने देखा कि वह भड़क रहा है और उसने उसके विरुद्ध दस हजार रथ भेजे।

तांस्तु सर्वान्महेष्वासान्सात्यकिः सत्यविक्रमः जघान परमेष्वासो दिव्येनास्त्रेण वीर्यवान्

But valiant Sātyaki, for whom truth was valour, was a great and supreme archer. He used divine weapons to slay all of them.

लेकिन वीर सात्यकि, जिनके लिए सत्य वीरता था, एक महान और सर्वोच्च धनुर्धर थे। उसने उन सभी को मारने के लिए दिव्य हथियारों का इस्तेमाल किया।

स कृत्वा दारुणं कर्म प्रगृहीतशरासनः आससाद ततो वीरो भूरिश्रवसमाहवे

Having accomplished this terrible deed, he grasped his bow and confronted Bhurishrava, the extender of the deeds of the Kuru lineage, in that battle.

इस भयानक कार्य को पूरा करने के बाद, उन्होंने अपना धनुष उठाया और उस युद्ध में कुरु वंश के कर्मों के विस्तारक भूरिश्रवा का सामना किया।

स हि संदृश्य सेनां तां युयुधानेन पातिताम् अभ्यधावत संक्रुद्धः कुरूणां कीर्तिवर्धनः

On seeing that the soldiers had been brought down by Yuyudhāna, he angrily attacked him.

यह देखकर कि युयुधान ने सैनिकों को नीचे गिरा दिया है, उसने गुस्से से उस पर हमला कर दिया।

इन्द्रायुधसवर्णं तत्स विस्फार्य महद्धनुः व्यसृजद्वज्रसंकाशाञ्शरानाशीविषोपमान् सहस्रशो महाराज दर्शयन्पाणिलाघवम्

He stretched an extremely large bow that had the complexion of Indra's weapon. O great king! He displayed the dexterity of his hands and released thousands of arrows that were as virulent as serpents and were like the vajra.

उसने एक बहुत बड़ा धनुष तान रखा था जिसका रंग इंद्र के हथियार के समान था। हे महान राजा! उन्होंने अपने हाथों की कुशलता का प्रदर्शन किया और हजारों बाण छोड़े जो सर्पों के समान विषैले और वज्र के समान थे।

शरांस्तान्मृत्युसंस्पर्शान्सात्यकेस्तु पदानुगाः न विषेहुस्तदा राजन्दुद्रुवुस्ते समन्ततः विहाय समरे राजन्सात्यकिं युद्धदुर्मदम्

O king! These arrows were like the touch of death to Sātyaki's followers and they fled, leaving the invincible Sātyaki alone in that fight.

हे राजा! ये बाण सात्यकि के अनुयायियों के लिए मृत्यु के स्पर्श के समान थे और वे उस युद्ध में अजेय सात्यकि को अकेला छोड़कर भाग गए।

तं दृष्ट्वा युयुधानस्य सुता दश महाबलाः महारथाः समाख्याताश्चित्रवर्मायुधध्वजाः

On seeing this, Yuyudhāna's ten sons advanced against Bhurishrava, the great archer, in that battle. They were mahāratha-s and immensely strong. They were clad in excellent armour and bore many different kinds of weapons and standards.

यह देखकर युयुधान के दस पुत्र उस युद्ध में महान धनुर्धर भूरिश्रवा के विरुद्ध आगे बढ़े। वे महारथी और अत्यंत बलशाली थे। वे उत्कृष्ट कवच पहने हुए थे और उनके पास कई प्रकार के हथियार और मानक थे।

समासाद्य महेष्वासं भूरिश्रवसमाहवे ऊचुः सर्वे सुसंरब्धा यूपकेतुं महारणे

All of them were extremely angry in that great battle and spoke to the one who had the mark of a sacrificial stake on his standard.

वे सभी उस महान युद्ध में अत्यंत क्रोधित थे और जिसके ध्वज पर बलि का चिह्न था, उससे बोले।

भो भो कौरवदायाद सहास्माभिर्महाबल एहि युध्यस्व संग्रामे समस्तैः पृथगेव वा

"O immensely strong one! O relative of the Kaurava-s! Come and fight with us, either singly, or together.

"हे अत्यंत शक्तिशाली! हे कौरवों के रिश्तेदार! आओ और हमारे साथ अकेले या एक साथ लड़ो।

अस्मान्वा त्वं पराजित्य यशः प्राप्नुहि संयुगे वयं वा त्वां पराजित्य प्रीतिं दास्यामहे पितुः

You will obtain great fame if you vanquish us in battle. Or we will vanquish you in battle and obtain great satisfaction."

यदि तुम हमें युद्ध में परास्त करोगे तो तुम्हें बड़ी प्रसिद्धि मिलेगी। अन्यथा हम तुम्हें युद्ध में परास्त करेंगे और बड़ी संतुष्टि प्राप्त करेंगे।"

एवमुक्तस्तदा शूरैस्तानुवाच महाबलः वीर्यश्लाघी नरश्रेष्ठस्तान्दृष्ट्वा समुपस्थितान्

Thus addressed, the immensely strong and brave one, who was foremost among men and prided himself on his valour, saw them stationed there and replied,

इस प्रकार संबोधित करते हुए, अत्यंत बलशाली और बहादुर व्यक्ति, जो पुरुषों में अग्रणी था और अपनी वीरता पर गर्व करता था, ने उन्हें वहां तैनात देखा और उत्तर दिया,

साध्विदं कथ्यते वीरा यदेवं मतिरद्य वः युध्यध्वं सहिता यत्ता निहनिष्यामि वो रणे

"O brave ones! You have spoken well. If that is your desire, fight with me now. I will endeavour to kill all of you in battle."

"हे वीरों! आपने ठीक कहा है। यदि आपकी यही इच्छा है तो अब मुझसे युद्ध करें। मैं आप सभी को युद्ध में मार डालने का प्रयत्न करूँगा।"

एवमुक्ता महेष्वासास्ते वीराः क्षिप्रकारिणः महता शरवर्षेण अभ्यवर्षन्नरिंदमम्

Having been thus addressed, the brave ones who were swift in action showered the great archer, the destroyer of enemies, with arrows.

इस प्रकार सम्बोधित किये जाने पर वे शीघ्रता से कार्य करने वाले वीरों ने शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले महान धनुर्धर पर बाणों की वर्षा कर दी।

अपराह्णे महाराज संग्रामस्तुमुलोऽभवत् एकस्य च बहूनां च समेतानां रणाजिरे

O great king! That tumultuous encounter commenced when it was afternoon. In that field of battle, there was a single one on one side and many united ones on the other.

हे महान राजा! दोपहर होने पर वह उथल-पुथल भरी मुठभेड़ शुरू हुई। युद्ध के उस मैदान में एक तरफ एक था और दूसरी तरफ कई एकजुट थे।

तमेकं रथिनां श्रेष्ठं शरवर्षैरवाकिरन् प्रावृषीव महाशैलं सिषिचुर्जलदा नृप

They enveloped that single-handed and foremost warrior with arrows. O king! It was like clouds showering down on a giant mountain.

उन्होंने उस एकबाहु और अग्रणी योद्धा को बाणों से घेर लिया। हे राजा! यह ऐसा था मानो किसी विशाल पर्वत पर बादल बरस रहे हों।

तैस्तु मुक्ताञ्शरौघांस्तान्यमदण्डाशनिप्रभान् असंप्राप्तानसंप्राप्तांश्चिच्छेदाशु महारथः

When unleashed, that shower of arrows was like Yāma's staff, or like the vajra. But before they could reach him, the mahāratha swiftly sliced them down.

छोड़े जाने पर, बाणों की वह वर्षा यम की लाठी या वज्र के समान थी। लेकिन इससे पहले कि वे उस तक पहुँच पाते, महारथ ने तेजी से उन्हें काट डाला।

तत्राद्भुतमपश्याम सौमदत्तेः पराक्रमम् यदेको बहुभिर्युद्धे समसज्जदभीतवत्

We then beheld the extraordinary valour of Somadatta's son. He single-handedly fought with many, without any fear.

तब हमने सोमदत्त के पुत्र की असाधारण वीरता देखी। उन्होंने बिना किसी डर के अकेले ही कई लोगों से लड़ाई की।

विसृज्य शरवृष्टिं तां दश राजन्महारथाः परिवार्य महाबाहुं निहन्तुमुपचक्रमुः

O king! The ten mahāratha-s created a shower of arrows. They surrounded the mighty-armed one, wishing to kill him.

हे राजा! दसों महारथियों ने बाणों की वर्षा की। उन्होंने उस महाबाहु को मार डालने की इच्छा से उसे घेर लिया।

सौमदत्तिस्ततः क्रुद्धस्तेषां चापानि भारत चिच्छेद दशभिर्बाणैर्निमेषेण महारथः

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! O king! In that battle, Somadatta's son used ten arrows to angrily slice down their bows.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! हे राजा! उस युद्ध में सोमदत्त के पुत्र ने क्रोधपूर्वक उनके धनुषों को काटने के लिए दस बाणों का प्रयोग किया।

अथैषां छिन्नधनुषां भल्लैः संनतपर्वभिः चिच्छेद समरे राजञ्शिरांसि निशितैः शरैः ते हता न्यपतन्भूमौ वज्रभग्ना इव द्रुमाः

O king! When their bows had been sliced down, in that encounter, the mahāratha instantly used sharp, straight-tufted and broad-headed arrows to slice off their heads. Thus slain, they fell down on the ground, like trees struck by lightning.

हे राजा! जब उनके धनुष कट गए, तो उस मुठभेड़ में, महारथ ने तुरंत उनके सिर को काटने के लिए तेज, सीधे-नुकीले और चौड़े सिर वाले तीरों का इस्तेमाल किया। इस प्रकार वे मारे गये और बिजली गिरने से गिरे हुए वृक्षों के समान भूमि पर गिर पड़े।

तान्दृष्ट्वा निहतान्वीरान्रणे पुत्रान्महाबलान् वार्ष्णेयो विनदन्राजन्भूरिश्रवसमभ्ययात्

O king! On seeing that his brave and immensely strong sons had been killed in battle, Vārṣṇeya roared and attacked Bhurishrava.

हे राजा! यह देखकर कि उसके वीर और अत्यंत बलशाली पुत्र युद्ध में मारे गये हैं, वार्ष्णेय ने दहाड़ते हुए भूरिश्रवा पर आक्रमण कर दिया।

रथं रथेन समरे पीडयित्वा महाबलौ तावन्योन्यस्य समरे निहत्य रथवाजिनः विरथावभिवल्गन्तौ समेयातां महारथौ

In that battle, chariot dashed against chariot and the two immensely strong ones oppressed each other. In that encounter, they slew the horses of each other's chariot. Deprived of their chariots, the mahāratha-s jumped down on the ground.

उस युद्ध में रथ से रथ टकरा गया और दोनों अत्यंत बलवानों ने एक-दूसरे पर अत्याचार किया। उस मुठभेड़ में उन्होंने एक-दूसरे के रथ के घोड़ों को मार डाला। अपने रथों से वंचित होकर, महारथी जमीन पर कूद पड़े।

प्रगृहीतमहाखड्गौ तौ चर्मवरधारिणौ शुशुभाते नरव्याघ्रौ युद्धाय समवस्थितौ

They grasped great swords and supreme shields and attacked each other. As they were stationed for battle, those tigers among men were dazzling.

उन्होंने बड़ी-बड़ी तलवारें और सर्वोच्च ढालें ​​पकड़ लीं और एक दूसरे पर आक्रमण करने लगे। चूँकि वे युद्ध के लिए तैनात थे, मनुष्यों के बीच वे बाघ चकाचौंध थे।

ततः सात्यकिमभ्येत्य निस्त्रिंशवरधारिणम् भीमसेनस्त्वरन्राजन्रथमारोपयत्तदा

Sātyaki was wielding a supreme sword. O king! But Bhīmasena swiftly approached him and took him up on his chariot.

सात्यकि सर्वोच्च तलवार चला रहे थे। हे राजा! लेकिन भीमसेन तेजी से उनके पास आये और उन्हें अपने रथ पर बैठा लिया।

तवापि तनयो राजन्भूरिश्रवसमाहवे आरोपयद्रथं तूर्णं पश्यतां सर्वधन्विनाम्

O king! And while all the archers looked on in that battle, your son picked up Bhurishrava on his chariot.

हे राजा! और जब सभी धनुर्धर उस युद्ध में देख रहे थे, आपके पुत्र ने भूरिश्रवा को अपने रथ पर उठा लिया।

तस्मिंस्तथा वर्तमाने रणे भीष्मं महारथम् अयोधयन्त संरब्धाः पाण्डवा भरतर्षभ

O bull among the Bhārata lineage! While that battle raged on, the angry Pāṇḍava began to fight with mahāratha Bhīṣma.

हे भरत वंश में बैल! जब वह युद्ध तीव्र गति से चल रहा था, क्रोधित पांडव महारथी भीष्म से युद्ध करने लगे।

लोहितायति चादित्ये त्वरमाणो धनंजयः पञ्चविंशतिसाहस्रान्निजघान महारथान्

When the sun had assumed a reddish tinge, Dhanañjayā swiftly killed twenty-five thousand mahāratha-s.

जब सूर्य ने लाल रंग धारण कर लिया, तो धनंजय ने तेजी से पच्चीस हजार महारथियों को मार डाला।

ते हि दुर्योधनादिष्टास्तदा पार्थनिबर्हणे संप्राप्यैव गता नाशं शलभा इव पावकम्

They had been instructed by Duryodhana to slay Pārtha. But they approached him and met their destruction, like insects before a flame.

उन्हें दुर्योधन ने पार्थ का वध करने का निर्देश दिया था। परन्तु वे उसके पास आए और लौ के सामने कीड़ों की तरह नष्ट हो गए।

ततो मत्स्याः केकयाश्च धनुर्वेदविशारदाः परिवव्रुस्तदा पार्थं सहपुत्रं महारथम्

At this, the Mātsya-s and the Kekaya-s, skilled in the knowledge of fighting, surrounded mahāratha Pārtha and his son.

इस पर युद्धविद्या में निपुण मत्स्य और केकय गणों ने महारथी पार्थ और उनके पुत्र को घेर लिया।

एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु सूर्येऽस्तमुपगच्छति सर्वेषामेव सैन्यानां प्रमोहः समजायत

At that moment, the sun disappeared and all the soldiers were overcome with confusion.

उसी क्षण, सूर्य गायब हो गया और सभी सैनिक असमंजस में पड़ गए।

अवहारं ततश्चक्रे पिता देवव्रतस्तव संध्याकाले महाराज सैन्यानां श्रान्तवाहनः

O great king! It was evening and with his mounts exhausted, your father, Devavrata, instructed that the soldiers should withdraw.

हे महान राजा! शाम हो गई थी और जब उनके घुड़सवार थक गए थे, तो आपके पिता देवव्रत ने सैनिकों को पीछे हटने का निर्देश दिया।

पाण्डवानां कुरूणां च परस्परसमागमे ते सेने भृशसंविग्ने ययतुः स्वं निवेशनम्

Having encountered each other, the Pāṇḍava and Kuru troops were filled with great fear and anxiously retired to their camps.

एक-दूसरे का सामना करने के बाद, पांडव और कुरु सेना बहुत डर से भर गई और उत्सुकता से अपने शिविरों में चले गए।

ततः स्वशिबिरं गत्वा न्यविशंस्तत्र भारत पाण्डवाः सृञ्जयैः सार्धं कुरवश्च यथाविधि

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! Having retired to their own camps, the Pāṇḍava-s and the Sṛñjaya-s, and the Kuru-s, rested, as was appropriate.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! अपने-अपने शिविरों में चले जाने के बाद, पांडव, सृंजय और कुरु ने, जैसा उचित था, विश्राम किया।
