वैशंपायन उवाच युधिष्ठिरस्य नृपतेर्दुर्योधनपितुस्तथा नान्तरं ददृशू राजन्पुरुषाः प्रणयं प्रति

Vaishampayana said: O king, the men did not see any difference between Yudhishthira and the father of Duryodhana in their affection.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: हे राजन, उन लोगों ने युधिष्ठिर और दुर्योधन के पिता के स्नेह में कोई अंतर नहीं देखा।

यदा तु कौरवो राजा पुत्रं सस्मार बालिशम् तदा भीमं हृदा राजन्नपध्याति स पार्थिवः

But when the king of the Kurus remembered his foolish son, then, O king, that king was afraid of Bhima in his heart.

परन्तु जब कौरवों के राजा को अपने मूर्ख पुत्र की याद आयी, तब हे राजन, उस राजा के मन में भीम से भय उत्पन्न हो गया।

तथैव भीमसेनोऽपि धृतराष्ट्रं जनाधिपम् नामर्षयत राजेन्द्र सदैवातुष्टवद्धृदा

Similarly, Bhimasena also did not tolerate King Dhritarashtra, O lord of men, and was always dissatisfied with him, O lord of kings.

इसी प्रकार, भीमसेन भी राजा धृतराष्ट्र को बर्दाश्त नहीं करते थे और हे राजाओं के राजा, भीमसेन हमेशा उनसे असंतुष्ट रहते थे।

अप्रकाशान्यप्रियाणि चकारास्य वृकोदरः आज्ञां प्रत्यहरच्चापि कृतकैः पुरुषैः सदा

Vrikodara did not allow him to see or love anything. And he always took away his orders through the men he had made.

वृकोदर ने उसे कुछ भी देखने या प्यार करने की अनुमति नहीं दी। और वह सदैव अपने बनाए हुए मनुष्यों के द्वारा अपनी आज्ञाएं छीन लेता था।

अथ भीमः सुहृन्मध्ये बाहुशब्दं तथाकरोत् संश्रवे धृतराष्ट्रस्य गान्धार्याश्चाप्यमर्षणः

Then, in the midst of his friends, Bhima made a sound with his arms, and in the hearing of Dhritarashtra and Gandhari, who were intolerant.

तब भीम ने अपने मित्रों के बीच में अपनी भुजाओं से आवाज लगाई और धृतराष्ट्र तथा गांधारी को, जो असहिष्णु थे, आवाज सुनाई दी।

स्मृत्वा दुर्योधनं शत्रुं कर्णदुःशासनावपि प्रोवाचाथ सुसंरब्धो भीमः स परुषं वचः

Remembering Duryodhana, the enemy, and Karna and Duhshāsana, Bhima then spoke harshly in a very angry tone.

तब भीम ने शत्रु दुर्योधन तथा कर्ण और दु:शासन का स्मरण करके अत्यंत क्रोधित स्वर में कठोर बातें कहीं।

अन्धस्य नृपतेः पुत्रा मया परिघबाहुना नीता लोकममुं सर्वे नानाशस्त्रात्तजीविताः

The sons of the blind king were taken by me, who had arms like iron bars, to this world, deprived of life by various weapons.

अंधे राजा के पुत्रों को, जिनके पास लोहे की सलाखों के समान हथियार थे, मैं विभिन्न हथियारों से प्राणहीन करके इस लोक में ले आया।

इमौ तौ परिघप्रख्यौ भुजौ मम दुरासदौ ययोरन्तरमासाद्य धार्तराष्ट्राः क्षयं गताः

These two arms of mine, which are like iron bars, are difficult to approach. The sons of Dhritarashtra have perished after coming within their range.

लोहे की सलाखों के समान मेरी ये दोनों भुजाएँ कठिन हैं। धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र उनकी सीमा में आकर नष्ट हो गये।

ताविमौ चन्दनेनाक्तौ वन्दनीयौ च मे भुजौ याभ्यां दुर्योधनो नीतः क्षयं ससुतबान्धवः

These two arms of mine, anointed with sandalwood paste, are worthy of worship, By which Duryodhana was brought to destruction along with his sons and relatives.

चन्दन से लेपित मेरी ये दोनों भुजाएँ पूजनीय हैं, जिनके द्वारा दुर्योधन अपने पुत्रों तथा सम्बन्धियों सहित नष्ट हो गया था।

एताश्चान्याश्च विविधाः शल्यभूता जनाधिपः वृकोदरस्य ता वाचः श्रुत्वा निर्वेदमागमत्

These and other various kinds of weapons, O lord of men, Having heard those words of Vrikódara, he became distressed.

ये और अन्य विभिन्न प्रकार के हथियार, हे मनुष्यों के भगवान, वृकोदर के उन शब्दों को सुनकर, वह व्यथित हो गए।

सा च बुद्धिमती देवी कालपर्यायवेदिनी गान्धारी सर्वधर्मज्ञा तान्यलीकानि शुश्रुवे

And that wise goddess, who knew the course of time, Gandhari, who knew all dharmas, heard those false words.

और वह बुद्धिमान देवी, जो समय के प्रवाह को जानती थी, गांधारी, जो सभी धर्मों को जानती थी, ने उन झूठे शब्दों को सुना।

ततः पञ्चदशे वर्षे समतीते नराधिपः राजा निर्वेदमापेदे भीमवाग्बाणपीडितः

Then, when fifteen years had passed, the king, afflicted by the harsh words and arrows, became despondent.

फिर जब पन्द्रह वर्ष बीत गये तो राजा कठोर शब्दों और बाणों से पीड़ित होकर निराश हो गये।

नान्वबुध्यत तद्राजा कुन्तीपुत्रो युधिष्ठिरः श्वेताश्वो वाथ कुन्ती वा द्रौपदी वा यशस्विनी

The son of Kunti, Yudhishthira, did not know about it. Or the white horse, or Kunti, or the glorious Droupadi.

कुंती पुत्र युधिष्ठिर को इसके बारे में पता नहीं था। या सफेद घोड़ा, या कुंती, या गौरवशाली द्रौपदी।

माद्रीपुत्रौ च भीमस्य चित्तज्ञावन्वमोदताम् राज्ञस्तु चित्तं रक्षन्तौ नोचतुः किंचिदप्रियम्

The sons of Madri, knowing the mind of Bhima, rejoiced. Protecting the king's mind, they did not say anything unpleasant.

भीम के मन की बात जानकर माद्री के पुत्र प्रसन्न हुए। राजा के मन की रक्षा करते हुए उन्होंने कोई अप्रिय बात नहीं कही।

ततः समानयामास धृतराष्ट्रः सुहृज्जनम् बाष्पसंदिग्धमत्यर्थमिदमाह वचो भृशम्

Then Dhritarashtra summoned his well-wishers and spoke these words, choked with tears: "I am not able to bear this great grief.

तब धृतराष्ट्र ने अपने शुभचिंतकों को बुलाया और आँसुओं से भरे हुए ये शब्द बोले: “मैं इस महान दुःख को सहन करने में सक्षम नहीं हूँ।
