वैशंपायन उवाच इत्युक्त्वानुययौ पार्थो हयं तं कामचारिणम् न्यवर्तत ततो वाजी येन नागाह्वयं पुरम्

Vaishampayana said: Having said this, Partha followed the horse that roamed at will. The horse then turned back to the city called Nagara.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा- इतना कहकर पार्थ ने इच्छानुसार घूमने वाले घोड़े का पीछा किया। घोड़ा फिर नगरा नामक शहर की ओर मुड़ गया।

तं निवृत्तं तु शुश्राव चारेणैव युधिष्ठिरः श्रुत्वार्जुनं कुशलिनं स च हृष्टमनाभवत्

Yudhiṣṭhira heard of his return through the spies. Hearing that Arjuna was well, he was delighted.

युधिष्ठिर को गुप्तचरों से उनके लौटने का समाचार मिला। यह सुनकर कि अर्जुन ठीक है, वह प्रसन्न हुआ।

विजयस्य च तत्कर्म गान्धारविषये तदा श्रुत्वान्येषु च देशेषु स सुप्रीतोऽभवन्नृपः

And when he heard of the deeds of Vijaya in Gandhāra, and in other countries, the king was very pleased.

और जब उसने गांधार और अन्य देशों में विजया के कार्यों के बारे में सुना, तो राजा बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ।

एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु द्वादशीं माघपाक्षिकीम् इष्टं गृहीत्वा नक्षत्रं धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः

At this time, the twelfth day of the waning moon in the month of Māgha, Yudhishthira, the king of Dharma, having chosen an auspicious constellation,

इस समय, माघ महीने के कृष्ण पक्ष के बारहवें दिन, धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर ने एक शुभ नक्षत्र चुना।

समानाय्य महातेजाः सर्वान्भ्रातॄन्महामनाः भीमं च नकुलं चैव सहदेवं च कौरवः

The immensely radiant and great-minded one summoned all his brothers, and the Kaurava, Bhimasena, Nakula and Sahadeva,

अत्यंत तेजस्वी और महामनस्वी ने अपने सभी भाइयों और कौरवों, भीमसेन, नकुल और सहदेव को बुलाया।

प्रोवाचेदं वचः काले तदा धर्मभृतां वरः आमन्त्र्य वदतां श्रेष्ठो भीमं भीमपराक्रमम्

At that time, the best of the upholders of dharma spoke these words to him. Having addressed him, the best of speakers, to the one of terrible prowess, to Bhima,

उस समय धर्म के श्रेष्ठ रक्षकों ने उनसे ये बातें कहीं। वक्ताओं में श्रेष्ठ, भयंकर पराक्रमी, भीम को संबोधित करके,

आयाति भीमसेनासौ सहाश्वेन तवानुजः यथा मे पुरुषाः प्राहुर्ये धनंजयसारिणः

Your younger brother, Bhimasena, is coming with his horse. As the men who were with Dhananjaya have told me.

आपका छोटा भाई भीमसेन अपने घोड़े के साथ आ रहा है। जैसा कि धनंजय के साथ के लोगों ने मुझे बताया है।

उपस्थितश्च कालोऽयमभितो वर्तते हयः माघी च पौर्णमासीयं मासः शेषो वृकोदर

And the time has come, the horse is about to turn around. And this is the full moon of Māgha, and the month is Śeṣa, Vṛkodara.

और समय आ गया है, घोड़ा पलटने वाला है। और यह माघ की पूर्णिमा है, और महीना शेष, वृकोदर है ।

तत्प्रस्थाप्यन्तु विद्वांसो ब्राह्मणा वेदपारगाः वाजिमेधार्थसिद्ध्यर्थं देशं पश्यन्तु यज्ञियम्

Having sent forth the learned Brahmins who have mastered the Vedas, for the accomplishment of the horse sacrifice, let them see the sacrificial ground.

अश्व यज्ञ की सिद्धि के लिए वेदों में पारंगत विद्वान ब्राह्मणों को भेजकर उन्हें यज्ञ भूमि देखने दो।

इत्युक्तः स तु तच्चक्रे भीमो नृपतिशासनम् हृष्टः श्रुत्वा नरपतेरायान्तं सव्यसाचिनम्

Thus addressed, Bhima did as the king commanded. Hearing that the king was coming, Bhima was delighted.

इस प्रकार संबोधित करते हुए भीम ने राजा की आज्ञा के अनुसार ही किया। यह सुनकर कि राजा आ रहे हैं, भीम प्रसन्न हुए।

ततो ययौ भीमसेनः प्राज्ञैः स्थपतिभिः सह ब्राह्मणानग्रतः कृत्वा कुशलान्यज्ञकर्मसु

Then Bhima went with the wise architects, with the Brahmanas at the head, skilled in sacrificial rites.

तब भीम बुद्धिमान वास्तुकारों के साथ गए, जिनके प्रमुख ब्राह्मण थे, जो यज्ञ अनुष्ठान में कुशल थे।

तं सशालचयग्रामं संप्रतोलीविटङ्किनम् मापयामास कौरव्यो यज्ञवाटं यथाविधि

He had the village with its houses and streets and shops built, just as the Kaurava had built the sacrificial ground.

उसने गाँव को अपने घरों, गलियों और दुकानों सहित बनवाया, जैसे कौरवों ने यज्ञ भूमि बनवाई थी।

सदः सपत्नीसदनं साग्नीध्रमपि चोत्तरम् कारयामास विधिवन्मणिहेमविभूषितम्

He had the assembly hall, the wives' quarters, and the fire chamber built in the north, all adorned with jewels and gold, in accordance with the prescribed manner.

उन्होंने उत्तर दिशा में सभा कक्ष, पत्नियों के निवास स्थान और अग्नि कक्ष का निर्माण करवाया, सभी निर्धारित रीति के अनुसार रत्नों और सोने से सुसज्जित थे।

स्तम्भान्कनकचित्रांश्च तोरणानि बृहन्ति च यज्ञायतनदेशेषु दत्त्वा शुद्धं च काञ्चनम्

And pillars adorned with gold, and great gateways, Having given pure gold in the places of sacrificial altars,

और सोने से सजे हुए खम्भे, और बड़े बड़े द्वार, और यज्ञवेदियोंके स्यान पर शुद्ध सोना चढ़ाया हुआ,

अन्तःपुराणि राज्ञां च नानादेशनिवासिनाम् कारयामास धर्मात्मा तत्र तत्र यथाविधि

He had the inner apartments of the kings and of the residents of various countries built in accordance with the proper procedure.

उसने विभिन्न देशों के राजाओं और निवासियों के आंतरिक कक्षों का निर्माण उचित प्रक्रिया के अनुसार करवाया।

ब्राह्मणानां च वेश्मानि नानादेशसमेयुषाम् कारयामास भीमः स विविधानि ह्यनेकशः

And for the Brahmanas who had come from various countries, Bhima had many kinds of houses built.

और विभिन्न देशों से आए ब्राह्मणों के लिए भीम ने कई प्रकार के घर बनवाए।

तथा संप्रेषयामास दूतान्नृपतिशासनात् भीमसेनो महाराज राज्ञामक्लिष्टकर्मणाम्

Thus he sent messengers by the king's command Bhimasena, the great king, to the kings of unblemished deeds,

इस प्रकार उसने राजा की आज्ञा से महान राजा भीमसेन को निष्कलंक कर्म करने वाले राजाओं के पास दूत भेजे।

ते प्रियार्थं कुरुपतेराययुर्नृपसत्तमाः रत्नान्यनेकान्यादाय स्त्रियोऽश्वानायुधानि च

For the sake of their beloved, the best of kings went to the lord of the Kurus, Bringing many jewels, women, horses, and weapons.

अपने प्रिय की खातिर, सर्वश्रेष्ठ राजा बहुत से गहने, महिलाएं, घोड़े और हथियार लेकर कौरवों के राजा के पास गए।

तेषां निविशतां तेषु शिबिरेषु सहस्रशः नर्दतः सागरस्येव शब्दो दिवमिवास्पृशत्

As they entered the camps in thousands, the sound was like the roaring of the ocean, reaching up to the heavens.

जैसे ही वे हजारों की संख्या में शिविरों में दाखिल हुए, समुद्र की गर्जना जैसी आवाज आकाश तक पहुंच गई।

तेषामभ्यागतानां स राजा राजीवलोचनः व्यादिदेशान्नपानानि शय्याश्चाप्यतिमानुषाः

To those who had come, the king with lotus-like eyes ordered food, drink, and beds that were extremely superhuman.

जो लोग आए थे, उनके लिए कमल जैसी आंखों वाले राजा ने भोजन, पेय और बिस्तरों का आदेश दिया जो बेहद अलौकिक थे।

वाहनानां च विविधाः शालाः शालीक्षुगोरसैः उपेताः पुरुषव्याघ्र व्यादिदेश स धर्मराट्

And for the horses, various stables, with rice, sugarcane, and milk, The tiger among men, the king of Dharma, ordered.

और घोड़ों के लिए, चावल, गन्ना और दूध के साथ विभिन्न अस्तबल, पुरुषों के बीच बाघ, धर्म के राजा, ने आदेश दिया।

तथा तस्मिन्महायज्ञे धर्मराजस्य धीमतः समाजग्मुर्मुनिगणा बहवो ब्रह्मवादिनः

In that great sacrifice of the wise Dharmaraja, many groups of sages who spoke about Brahman assembled.

बुद्धिमान धर्मराज के उस महान् यज्ञ में ब्रह्मवेत्ता ऋषियों के अनेक समूह एकत्रित हुए।

ये च द्विजातिप्रवरास्तत्रासन्पृथिवीपते समाजग्मुः सशिष्यांस्तान्प्रतिजग्राह कौरवः

And the best of the twice-born who were there, the lord of the earth, approached them with his disciples and received them, O son of Kuru.

और वहां मौजूद द्विजों में से सर्वश्रेष्ठ, पृथ्वी के स्वामी, अपने शिष्यों के साथ उनके पास आए और हे कुरु के पुत्र, उनका स्वागत किया।

सर्वांश्च ताननुययौ यावदावसथादिति स्वयमेव महातेजा दम्भं त्यक्त्वा युधिष्ठिरः

And he followed them all, as far as the hermitage. The very bright Yudhishthira, having abandoned pride,

और वह आश्रम तक उन सभी का पीछा करता रहा। परम तेजस्वी युधिष्ठिर ने अहंकार का त्याग कर दिया।

ततः कृत्वा स्थपतयः शिल्पिनोऽन्ये च ये तदा कृत्स्नं यज्ञविधिं राजन्धर्मराज्ञे न्यवेदयन्

Then the architects and other craftsmen, having done so, presented the entire ritual of the sacrifice to King Dharmaraja.

तब वास्तुकारों और अन्य कारीगरों ने ऐसा करने के बाद, राजा धर्मराज को बलिदान का पूरा अनुष्ठान प्रस्तुत किया।

तच्छ्रुत्वा धर्मराजः स कृतं सर्वमनिन्दितम् हृष्टरूपोऽभवद्राजा सह भ्रातृभिरच्युतः

Hearing that, the king of Dharma, the unblemished one, was delighted in form, along with his brothers, O unblemished one.

यह सुनकर धर्मराज निष्कलंक अपने भाइयों सहित अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए, हे निष्कलंक!
