वैशंपायन उवाच तस्मिन्यज्ञे प्रवृत्ते तु वाग्मिनो हेतुवादिनः हेतुवादान्बहून्प्राहुः परस्परजिगीषवः

Vaishampayana said: When that sacrifice began, the eloquent proponents of logic made many logical arguments, each desiring victory over the other.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: जब वह यज्ञ शुरू हुआ, तो तर्क के सुवक्ता समर्थकों ने कई तार्किक तर्क दिए, प्रत्येक ने दूसरे पर जीत की इच्छा की।

The kings saw the excellent procedure of the sacrifice, arranged by Bhima, the descendant of the Kuru lineage, like that of the lord of the gods.

ददृशुस्तोरणान्यत्र शातकुम्भमयानि ते शय्यासनविहारांश्च सुबहून्रत्नभूषितान्

They saw there gateways made of gold, and many beds, seats, and resting places adorned with jewels.

घटान्पात्रीः कटाहानि कलशान्वर्धमानकान् न हि किंचिदसौवर्णमपश्यंस्तत्र पार्थिवाः

Pots, dishes, cauldrons, water jars, and vases— I saw nothing there that was not made of gold, O kings.

बर्तन, बर्तन, कड़ाही, पानी के घड़े और फूलदान - हे राजाओं, मैंने वहां कुछ भी नहीं देखा जो सोने से बना न हो।

यूपांश्च शास्त्रपठितान्दारवान्हेमभूषितान् उपकॢप्तान्यथाकालं विधिवद्भूरिवर्चसः

The sacrificial posts, as prescribed in the scriptures, made of wood and adorned with gold, Were prepared according to the proper time, with great splendor, in accordance with the rules.

यज्ञोपवीत शास्त्र के विधान के अनुसार लकड़ी के बने और सोने से सुसज्जित, उचित समय के अनुसार, बड़े वैभव के साथ, नियमों के अनुसार तैयार किए गए थे।

स्थलजा जलजा ये च पशवः केचन प्रभो सर्वानेव समानीतांस्तानपश्यन्त ते नृपाः

All the animals, both land and water, that there were, O Lord, all of them were brought together, and the kings saw them.

हे यहोवा, जितने जलजन्तु थे, क्या थल और क्या जल, वे सब इकट्ठे हो गए, और राजाओं ने उनको देखा।

गाश्चैव महिषीश्चैव तथा वृद्धाः स्त्रियोऽपि च औदकानि च सत्त्वानि श्वापदानि वयांसि च

and cows, and buffaloes, and old women, and aquatic beings, and carnivorous animals, and birds,

और गायें, और भैंसें, और बूढ़ी औरतें, और जलीय जीव, और मांसाहारी जानवर, और पक्षी,

जरायुजान्यण्डजानि स्वेदजान्युद्भिदानि च पर्वतानूपवन्यानि भूतानि ददृशुश्च ते

They saw the beings born from wombs, from eggs, from moisture, and from spontaneous generation, the mountains, the forests, and the marshy lands.

उन्होंने गर्भ से, अंडों से, नमी से, और सहज पीढ़ी से, पहाड़ों, जंगलों और दलदली भूमि से पैदा हुए प्राणियों को देखा।

एवं प्रमुदितं सर्वं पशुगोधनधान्यतः यज्ञवाटं नृपा दृष्ट्वा परं विस्मयमागमन् ब्राह्मणानां विशां चैव बहुमृष्टान्नमृद्धिमत्

Thus, the entire area was filled with joy, with cattle, goats, and grain. Seeing the sacrificial arena, the kings were filled with great wonder. The Brahmins and the Vaishyas had abundant food and riches.

इस प्रकार, पूरा क्षेत्र मवेशियों, बकरियों और अनाज से खुशी से भर गया। यज्ञभूमि देखकर राजा बड़े आश्चर्य से भर गये। ब्राह्मणों और वैश्यों के पास प्रचुर भोजन और धन था।

पूर्णे शतसहस्रे तु विप्राणां तत्र भुञ्जताम् दुन्दुभिर्मेघनिर्घोषो मुहुर्मुहुरताड्यत

When a hundred thousand Brahmins had eaten there, A drum with the sound of clouds was struck again and again.

जब एक लाख ब्राह्मणों ने वहाँ भोजन कर लिया, तो बादलों की ध्वनि वाला एक ढोल बार-बार बजाया गया।

विननादासकृत्सोऽथ दिवसे दिवसे तदा एवं स ववृते यज्ञो धर्मराजस्य धीमतः

He roared repeatedly, day after day. Thus the sacrifice of the wise Dharmaraja proceeded.

वह दिन-ब-दिन बार-बार दहाड़ता था। इस प्रकार बुद्धिमान धर्मराज का यज्ञ आगे बढ़ा।

अन्नस्य बहवो राजन्नुत्सर्गाः पर्वतोपमाः दधिकुल्याश्च ददृशुः सर्पिषश्च ह्रदाञ्जनाः

O king, there were many offerings of food, like mountains, and the people saw streams of curds and lakes of ghee.

हे राजा, वहाँ पर्वतों के समान बहुत से भोजन प्रसाद थे, और लोगों ने दही की धाराएँ और घी की झीलें देखीं।

जम्बूद्वीपो हि सकलो नानाजनपदायुतः राजन्नदृश्यतैकस्थो राज्ञस्तस्मिन्महाक्रतौ

The entire Jambudvipa, with its thousands of countries, was seen to be in one place, O king, at that great sacrifice of the king.

हे राजन, राजा के उस महान यज्ञ में हजारों देशों सहित संपूर्ण जम्बूद्वीप एक ही स्थान पर दिखाई दे रहा था।

तत्र जातिसहस्राणि पुरुषाणां ततस्ततः गृहीत्वा धनमाजग्मुर्बहूनि भरतर्षभ

There, for thousands of years, men from here and there took wealth and came, O bull of the Bharatas.

वहाँ हजारों वर्षों से इधर-उधर से मनुष्य धन लेकर आते रहे, हे भरतवंश के बैल।

राजानः स्रग्विणश्चापि सुमृष्टमणिकुण्डलाः पर्यवेषन्द्विजाग्र्यांस्ताञ्शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः

The kings, wearing garlands, with well-polished pearl earrings, surrounded the best of Brahmins in hundreds and thousands.

मालाएँ पहने हुए, अच्छी तरह से चमकाए गए मोती की बालियाँ पहने हुए राजाओं ने सैकड़ों और हजारों की संख्या में सर्वश्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणों को घेर लिया।

विविधान्यन्नपानानि पुरुषा येऽनुयायिनः तेषां नृपोपभोज्यानि ब्राह्मणेभ्यो ददुः स्म ते

The men who followed them gave the Brahmanas various kinds of food and drink, which were fit for the king to eat.

उनके पीछे आने वाले लोगों ने ब्राह्मणों को विभिन्न प्रकार के भोजन और पेय दिए, जो राजा के खाने के लिए उपयुक्त थे।
