संजय उवाच एतस्मिन्नन्तरे कृष्णः पार्थं वचनमब्रवीत् दर्शयन्निव कौन्तेयं धर्मराजं युधिष्ठिरम्

Sañjaya said: At this time, Kṛṣṇā spoke these words to Pārtha, pointing out to Kaunteya, Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira.

संजय ने कहा: इस समय, कृष्ण ने कौन्तेय, धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर की ओर इशारा करते हुए पार्थ से ये शब्द कहे।

एष पाण्डव ते भ्राता धार्तराष्ट्रैर्महाबलैः जिघांसुभिर्महेष्वासैर्द्रुतं पार्थानुसर्यते

O Pārtha! Pāṇḍava, your brother, is being swiftly pursued by the immensely strong sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra. They are great archers and wish to kill him.

हे पार्थ! धृतराष्ट्र के अत्यंत बलशाली पुत्र आपके भाई पांडव का तेजी से पीछा कर रहे हैं। वे महान धनुर्धर हैं और उसे मारना चाहते हैं।

तथानुयान्ति संरब्धाः पाञ्चाला युद्धदुर्मदाः युधिष्ठिरं महात्मानं परीप्सन्तो महाजवाः

The angry Pāñcāla-s, invincible in battle, are also following at great speed, wishing to save the great-souled Yudhiṣṭhira.

युद्ध में अजेय क्रोधित पंचाल भी महाबली युधिष्ठिर को बचाने की इच्छा से बड़ी तेजी से उनका पीछा कर रहे हैं।

एष दुर्योधनः पार्थ रथानीकेन दंशितः राजा सर्वस्य लोकस्य राजानमनुधावति

O Pārtha! Duryodhana is the king of all the worlds. He is armoured and is following the king with an array of chariots.

हे पार्थ! दुर्योधन समस्त लोकों का राजा है। वह बख्तरबंद है और रथों की एक श्रृंखला के साथ राजा का पीछा कर रहा है।

जिघांसुः पुरुषव्याघ्रं भ्रातृभिः सहितो बली आशीविषसमस्पर्शैः सर्वयुद्धविशारदैः

With his brothers, the powerful one desires to kill that tiger among men. Their touch is like that of venomous serpents and they are skilled in all manner of fighting.

अपने भाइयों के साथ, वह शक्तिशाली मनुष्य के बीच उस बाघ को मारने की इच्छा रखता है। उनका स्पर्श विषैले सर्पों के समान है और वे हर प्रकार की लड़ाई में कुशल हैं।

एते जिघृक्षवो यान्ति द्विपाश्वरथपत्तयः युधिष्ठिरं धार्तराष्ट्रा रत्नोत्तममिवार्थिनः

Wishing to kill him, these elephants, horses, chariots and foot soldiers are also advancing. The sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra are after Yudhiṣṭhira, like those after a supreme jewel.

उसे मारने की इच्छा से ये हाथी, घोड़े, रथ और पैदल सैनिक भी आगे बढ़ रहे हैं। धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र युधिष्ठिर के पीछे वैसे ही हैं, जैसे वे किसी सर्वोच्च रत्न के पीछे।

पश्य सात्वतभीमाभ्यां निरुद्धाधिष्ठितः प्रभुः जिहीर्षवोऽमृतं दैत्याः शक्राग्निभ्यामिवावशाः

Behold. They have been checked by Sātvata and the lord Bhīmā. They are like daitya-s desiring amṛtā, but held in check by Śākra and Agni.

देखो. सात्वत और भगवान भीम ने उन्हें रोक लिया है। वे दैत्यों की तरह हैं जो अमृत की इच्छा रखते हैं, लेकिन शक्र और अग्नि द्वारा नियंत्रित होते हैं।

एते बहुत्वात्त्वरिताः पुनर्गच्छन्ति पाण्डवम् समुद्रमिव वार्योघाः प्रावृट्काले महारथाः

However, many of them are again swiftly advancing towards Pāṇḍava. Those mahāratha-s are like waters made turbulent by the wind, rushing towards the ocean during the monsoon season.

हालाँकि, उनमें से कई फिर से तेजी से पांडवों की ओर बढ़ रहे हैं। वे महारथ वर्षा ऋतु में वायु द्वारा अशांत होकर समुद्र की ओर बढ़ने वाले जल के समान हैं।

नदन्तः सिंहनादांश्च धमन्तश्चापि वारिजान् बलवन्तो महेष्वासा विधुन्वन्तो धनूंषि च

They are roaring like lions, or like clouds at the end of the summer. The powerful and great archers are brandishing their bows.

वे सिंहों के समान, वा ग्रीष्म ऋतु के अन्त में बादलों के समान गरज रहे हैं। शक्तिशाली एवं महान धनुर्धर अपने धनुष लहरा रहे हैं।

मृत्योर्मुखगतं मन्ये कुन्तीपुत्रं युधिष्ठिरम् हुतमग्नौ च भद्रं ते दुर्योधनवशं गतम्

I think that Yudhiṣṭhira, Kuntī's son, has entered the jaws of death. The fortunate one has come under Duryodhana's subjugation and is like an oblation poured into the fire.

मुझे लगता है कि कुंती पुत्र युधिष्ठिर मृत्यु के मुख में समा गये हैं। जो भाग्यशाली है वह दुर्योधन के वश में हो गया है और अग्नि में डाली गई आहुति के समान है।

यथायुक्तमनीकं हि धार्तराष्ट्रस्य पाण्डव नास्य शक्रोऽपि मुच्येत संप्राप्तो बाणगोचरम्

O Pāṇḍava! The army of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra has been prepared properly. Even Śākra will not be able to escape, if he comes within the range of their arrows.

हे पाण्डव! धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों की सेना अच्छी तरह तैयार हो चुकी है। यदि शक्र भी उनके बाणों की सीमा में आ गया तो वह बच नहीं पाएगा।

दुर्योधनस्य शूरस्य द्रौणेः शारद्वतस्य च कर्णस्य चेषुवेगो वै पर्वतानपि दारयेत्

Duryodhana, Droṇa's son and Śāradvata are brave. The force of Karṇa's arrows can shatter mountains.

दुर्योधन, द्रोण के पुत्र और शरद्वात बहादुर हैं। कर्ण के बाणों की शक्ति पर्वतों को चकनाचूर कर सकती है।

दुर्योधनस्य शूरस्य शरौघाञ्शीघ्रमस्यतः संक्रुद्धस्यान्तकस्येव को वेगं संसहेद्रणे

Duryodhana is valiant and shoots a storm of arrows quickly. When he is angry, he is like Yāma. Who is capable of withstanding his force in battle?

दुर्योधन वीर है और तेजी से बाणों की बौछार करता है। जब वह क्रोधित होता है, तो वह यम के समान होता है। युद्ध में उसकी शक्ति का सामना करने में कौन सक्षम है?

कर्णेन च कृतो राजा विमुखः शत्रुतापनः बलवाँल्लघुहस्तश्च कृती युद्धविशारदः

The king, the scorcher of enemies, has already been forced to retreat by Karṇa, who is powerful, dexterous and accomplished, and skilled in fighting.

शत्रुओं को झुलसाने वाले राजा को पहले ही कर्ण द्वारा पीछे हटने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया गया है, जो शक्तिशाली, निपुण और निपुण और युद्ध में कुशल है।

राधेयः पाण्डवश्रेष्ठं शक्तः पीडयितुं रणे सहितो धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्रैः शूरो महात्मभिः

Rādheya, controlled in his soul, is capable of oppressing the best of the Pāṇḍava-s in the battle. In addition, the brave one is with the great-souled sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra.

अपनी आत्मा पर नियंत्रण रखने वाला राधेय युद्ध में सर्वश्रेष्ठ पांडवों पर अत्याचार करने में सक्षम है। इसके अलावा, वीर धृतराष्ट्र के महान-मनस्वी पुत्रों के साथ है।

तस्यैवं युध्यमानस्य संग्रामे संयतात्मनः अन्यैरपि च पार्थस्य हृतं वर्म महारथैः

When he fought with them in the battle, other mahāratha-s robbed Pārtha of his armour.

जब वह युद्ध में उनके साथ लड़ा, तो अन्य महारथियों ने पार्थ से उसका कवच छीन लिया।

उपवासकृशो राजा भृशं भरतसत्तम ब्राह्मे बले स्थितो ह्येष न क्षत्रेऽतिबले विभो

O supreme among the Bhārata lineage! The king is severely emaciated because of his fasts. He is established in the strength of the brāhman, but he does not possess a great deal of strength of the kṣatriya variety.

हे भरतवंशियों में श्रेष्ठ! राजा अपने उपवास के कारण अत्यंत क्षीण हो गया है। वह ब्राह्मण की शक्ति में स्थापित है, लेकिन उसके पास क्षत्रिय प्रकार की बहुत अधिक शक्ति नहीं है।

न जीवति महाराजो मन्ये पार्थ युधिष्ठिरः यद्भीमसेनः सहते सिंहनादममर्षणः

O Pārtha! I do not think that Yudhiṣṭhira, the great king, will remain alive, even though Bhīmasena is with him and is roaring intolerantly, like a lion.

हे पार्थ! मुझे नहीं लगता कि महान राजा युधिष्ठिर जीवित रहेंगे, भले ही भीमसेन उनके साथ हों और शेर की तरह असहिष्णु रूप से दहाड़ रहे हों।

नर्दतां धार्तराष्ट्राणां पुनः पुनररिंदम धमतां च महाशङ्खान्संग्रामे जितकाशिनाम्

O scorcher of enemies! The sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra are roaring repeatedly. Desiring victory in the battle, they are blowing on their giant conch shells.

हे शत्रुओं को भस्म करने वाले! धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र बार-बार दहाड़ रहे हैं। वे युद्ध में विजय की कामना से अपने विशाल शंख बजा रहे हैं।

युधिष्ठिरं पाण्डवेयं हतेति भरतर्षभ संचोदयत्यसौ कर्णो धार्तराष्ट्रान्महाबलान्

O bull among the Bhārata lineage! Pāṇḍaveya Yudhiṣṭhira will be killed. Karṇa will urge the immensely strong sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra towards Pārtha.

हे भरत वंश में बैल! पाण्डवेय युधिष्ठिर मारे जायेंगे। कर्ण धृतराष्ट्र के अत्यंत बलशाली पुत्रों को पार्थ की ओर प्रेरित करेगा।

स्थूणाकर्णेन्द्रजालेन पार्थ पाशुपतेन च प्रच्छादयन्तो राजानमनुयान्ति महारथाः आतुरो मे मतो राजा संनिषेव्यश्च भारत

He will shroud the king with sthūṇākarṇa, indrajāla and pāśupata and the mahāratha-s will follow him. O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! It is my view that the king must be in distress.

वह राजा को स्थूनाकर्ण, इंद्रजाल और पाशुपत से ढक देगा और महारथी उसका अनुसरण करेंगे। हे भरत वंश के वंशज! मेरा विचार है कि राजा संकट में होगा।

यथैनमनुवर्तन्ते पाञ्चालाः सह पाण्डवैः त्वरमाणास्त्वराकाले सर्वशस्त्रभृतां वराः मज्जन्तमिव पाताले बलिनोऽप्युज्जिहीर्षवः

At a time when speed is of the essence, the Pāñcāla-s and the Pāṇḍava-s, supreme among all wielders of weapons, are following him. They are like powerful ones dashing to save someone who has been submerged in the nether regions.

ऐसे समय में जब गति सर्वोपरि है, पंचाल और पांडव, जो सभी शस्त्रधारियों में सर्वोच्च हैं, उनका अनुसरण कर रहे हैं। वे उन शक्तिशाली लोगों की तरह हैं जो पाताल में डूबे किसी व्यक्ति को बचाने के लिए दौड़ रहे हैं।

न केतुर्दृश्यते राज्ञः कर्णेन निहतः शरैः पश्यतोर्यमयोः पार्थ सात्यकेश्च शिखण्डिनः

O Pārtha! The king's flags cannot be seen. They may have been brought down by Karṇa's arrows, while the twins, Sātyaki, Śikhaṇḍī,

हे पार्थ! राजा के झंडे नहीं देखे जा सकते. हो सकता है कि वे कर्ण के बाणों से मारे गए हों, जबकि जुड़वाँ बच्चे, सात्यकि, शिखंडी,

धृष्टद्युम्नस्य भीमस्य शतानीकस्य वा विभो पाञ्चालानां च सर्वेषां चेदीनां चैव भारत

Dhṛṣṭadyumna, Bhīmā, the lord Śatānīka and all the Pāñcāla-s and Cedi-s looked on.

धृष्टद्युम्न, भीम, भगवान शतानीक और सभी पंचाल और सेडि-एस ने देखा।

एष कर्णो रणे पार्थ पाण्डवानामनीकिनीम् शरैर्विध्वंसयति वै नलिनीमिव कुञ्जरः

O Pārtha! In this battle, Karṇa is destroying the Pāṇḍava soldiers with his arrows, like an elephant among lotuses.

हे पार्थ! इस युद्ध में कर्ण कमलों के बीच हाथी की भाँति अपने बाणों से पाण्डव सैनिकों को नष्ट कर रहा है।

एते द्रवन्ति रथिनस्त्वदीयाः पाण्डुनन्दन पश्य पश्य यथा पार्थ गच्छन्त्येते महारथाः

O descendant of the Pāṇḍu lineage! The rāṭha-s on your side are being driven away. O Pārtha! Look at how the maharāṭha-s are retreating.

हे पाण्डु वंश के वंशज! आपके पक्ष के रथ-यात्रियों को भगाया जा रहा है। हे पार्थ! देखिये, मराठा कैसे पीछे हट रहे हैं।

एते भारत मातङ्गाः कर्णेनाभिहता रणे आर्तनादान्विकुर्वाणा विद्रवन्ति दिशो दश

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! In the battle, the elephants have been struck by Karṇa. They are shrieking and are running away in the ten directions.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! युद्ध में कर्ण द्वारा हाथियों को मारा गया है। वे चिल्ला रहे हैं और दसों दिशाओं में भाग रहे हैं।

रथानां द्रवतां वृन्दं पश्य पार्थ समन्ततः द्राव्यमाणं रणे चैव कर्णेनामित्रकर्शिना

O Pārtha! Behold. Arrays of chariots are fleeing in different directions. They have been routed in the battle by Karṇa, the destroyer of enemies.

हे पार्थ! देखो. रथों की टोलियाँ अलग-अलग दिशाओं में भाग रही हैं। वे शत्रुओं के संहारक कर्ण द्वारा युद्ध में पराजित किये गये हैं।

हस्तिकक्ष्यां रणे पश्य चरन्तीं तत्र तत्र ह रथस्थं सूतपुत्रस्य केतुं केतुमतां वर

In the battle, behold the chariot of the son of the sūta roaming around here and there. He is stationed on it. He has the best of standards and it is marked with the sign of an elephant's housing.

युद्ध में सूतपुत्र के रथ को इधर-उधर घूमते हुए देखो। वह इस पर तैनात है. उसके पास सर्वोत्तम मानक हैं और उस पर हाथी के आवास का चिन्ह अंकित है।

असौ धावति राधेयो भीमसेनरथं प्रति किरञ्शरशतानीव विनिघ्नंस्तव वाहिनीम्

Rādheya is advancing towards Bhīmasena's chariot. He is showering down hundreds of arrows and slaughtering your army.

राधेय भीमसेन के रथ की ओर बढ़ रहा है। वह सैकड़ों बाणों की वर्षा कर रहा है और आपकी सेना का संहार कर रहा है।

एतान्पश्य च पाञ्चालान्द्राव्यमाणान्महात्मना शक्रेणेव यथा दैत्यान्हन्यमानान्महाहवे

Behold the Pāñcāla-s being driven away by the great-souled one. He is like Śākra destroying the daitya-s in a great battle.

देखिये, पंचालों को महात्मा द्वारा भगाया जा रहा है। वह एक महान युद्ध में दैत्यों को नष्ट करने वाले शक्र के समान है।

एष कर्णो रणे जित्वा पाञ्चालान्पाण्डुसृञ्जयान् दिशो विप्रेक्षते सर्वास्त्वदर्थमिति मे मतिः

This Karṇa has defeated the Pāñcāla-s, Pāṇḍu-s and Sṛñjaya-s. He is now searching around in all the directions for you. That is my view.

इस कर्ण ने पंचाल-एस, पांडु-एस और सृंजय-एस को हराया है। वह अब तुम्हें चारों दिशाओं में खोज रहा है। यही मेरा विचार है.

पश्य पार्थ धनुः श्रेष्ठं विकर्षन्साधु शोभते शत्रूञ्जित्वा यथा शक्रो देवसंघैः समावृतः

O Pārtha! Behold. He looks beautiful, as he is stretching the best of bows. Having defeated the enemy, he is like Śākra, surrounded by large numbers of gods.

हे पार्थ! देखो. वह सुन्दर दिखता है, क्योंकि वह सर्वोत्तम धनुष तान रहा है। शत्रु को परास्त करने के बाद, वह शक्र के समान है, जो बड़ी संख्या में देवताओं से घिरा हुआ है।

एते नदन्ति कौरव्या दृष्ट्वा कर्णस्य विक्रमम् त्रासयन्तो रणे पार्थान्सृञ्जयांश्च सहस्रशः

On witnessing Karṇa's valour, the Kaurava-s are roaring. Thousands of Pārtha-s and Sṛñjaya-s have been frightened in the battle.

कर्ण का पराक्रम देखकर कौरव दहाड़ रहे हैं। युद्ध में हजारों पार्थ और सृंजय भयभीत हो गये हैं।

एष सर्वात्मना पाण्डूंस्त्रासयित्वा महारणे अभिभाषति राधेयः सर्वसैन्यानि मानदः

In this great battle, he has wholeheartedly terrified the Pāṇḍu-s. O one who grants honours! Rādheya is addressing all the soldiers.

इस महान युद्ध में उसने पाण्डुओ को पूरी तरह भयभीत कर दिया है। हे सम्मान देने वाले! राधेय सभी सैनिकों को संबोधित कर रहे हैं.

अभिद्रवत गच्छध्वं द्रुतं द्रवत कौरवाः यथा जीवन्न वः कश्चिन्मुच्यते युधि सृञ्जयः

"O Kaurava-s! Attack them quickly. Advance and drive them away, so that no one among the Sṛñjaya-s can escape from this encounter with his life."

"हे कौरवों! उन पर शीघ्र आक्रमण करो। आगे बढ़ो और उन्हें दूर भगाओ, ताकि सृंजय में से कोई भी इस मुठभेड़ से अपनी जान बचाकर न भाग सके।"

तथा कुरुत संयत्ता वयं यास्याम पृष्ठतः एवमुक्त्वा ययावेष पृष्ठतो विकिरञ्शरैः

Act united in this way and we will follow you. Having said this, he is advancing behind them, showering arrows.

इसी प्रकार एकजुट होकर कार्य करो हम तुम्हारे पीछे चलेंगे। इतना कहकर वह उनके पीछे-पीछे बाणों की वर्षा करता हुआ आगे बढ़ रहा है।

पश्य कर्णं रणे पार्थ श्वेतच्छविविराजितम् उदयं पर्वतं यद्वच्छोभयन्वै दिवाकरः

O Pārtha! Behold Karṇa in the battle. He is under a white umbrella and is as radiant as the sun behind Mount Asta.

हे पार्थ! युद्ध में कर्ण को देखो। वह एक सफेद छतरी के नीचे है और अस्ता पर्वत के पीछे सूर्य के समान दीप्तिमान है।

पूर्णचन्द्रनिकाशेन मूर्ध्नि छत्रेण भारत ध्रियमाणेन समरे तथा शतशलाकिना

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! A white umbrella that is like the full moon and possesses a hundred spokes is held aloft his head in the battle.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! युद्ध में उनके सिर पर एक सफेद छत्र, जो पूर्णिमा के चंद्रमा के समान है और जिसमें सैकड़ों तीलियाँ हैं, लटकाये रखा जाता है।

एष त्वां प्रेक्षते कर्णः सकटाक्षो विशां पते उत्तमं यत्नमास्थाय ध्रुवमेष्यति संयुगे

O lord of the earth! Karṇa is casting his glances around, looking for you. He will certainly make the best of efforts in this battle.

हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! कर्ण तुम्हें ढूँढ़ते हुए इधर-उधर दृष्टि डाल रहा है। वह निश्चित रूप से इस लड़ाई में सर्वोत्तम प्रयास करेंगे।'

पश्य ह्येनं महाबाहो विधुन्वानं महद्धनुः शरांश्चाशीविषाकारान्विसृजन्तं महाबलम्

O mighty-armed one! Behold him brandishing his giant bow. The immensely strong one is releasing arrows that are like venomous serpents.

हे महाबाहु! उसे अपना विशाल धनुष लहराते हुए देखो। वह अत्यंत बलशाली विषैले सर्पों के समान बाण छोड़ रहा है।

असौ निवृत्तो राधेयो दृश्यते वानरध्वज वधाय चात्मनोऽभ्येति दीपस्य शलभो यथा

O one with the ape on the banner! Rādheya can be seen to be headed in this direction. He is advancing for his own destruction, like an insect towards a lamp.

हे बैनर पर वानर वाले! राधेय को इसी दिशा में जाते देखा जा सकता है। वह अपने ही विनाश के लिये आगे बढ़ रहा है, जैसे कोई कीड़ा दीपक की ओर।

कर्णमेकाकिनं दृष्ट्वा रथानीकेन भारत रिरक्षिषुः सुसंयत्तो धार्तराष्ट्रोऽभिवर्तते

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! On seeing that Karṇa is alone, Dhṛtarāṣṭra's son has turned his array of chariots towards him, controlling them so as to protect him.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! यह देखकर कि कर्ण अकेला है, धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र ने उसकी रक्षा के लिए अपने रथों की श्रृंखला को उसकी ओर मोड़ दिया है, और उन्हें नियंत्रित किया है।

सार्वैः सहैभिर्दुष्टात्मा वध्य एष प्रयत्नतः त्वया यशश्च राज्यं च सुखं चोत्तममिच्छता

If you desire fame, the kingdom and supreme happiness, make efforts to kill him, with all the evil-souled ones who are with him.

यदि तुम यश, राज्य और परम सुख चाहते हो तो उसके साथ जितने दुष्टात्मा हैं, उन सबको मार डालने का प्रयत्न करो।

आत्मानं च कृतात्मानं समीक्ष्य भरतर्षभ कृतागसं च राधेयं धर्मात्मनि युधिष्ठिरे

O bull among the Bhārata lineage! You have controlled your soul. Glance towards your own self. Rādheya is firm in his hatred for the great-souled Yudhiṣṭhira.

हे भरत वंश में बैल! आपने अपनी आत्मा को वश में कर लिया है. अपनी ओर देखो. राधेय महान आत्मा युधिष्ठिर के प्रति अपनी नफरत में दृढ़ है।

प्रतिपद्यस्व राधेयं प्राप्तकालमनन्तरम् आर्यां युद्धे मतिं कृत्वा प्रत्येहि रथयूथपम्

Accomplish the end that Rādheya has set for himself. O noble one! Set your mind on fighting and repel that leader of rāṭha-s.

राधेय ने अपने लिए जो लक्ष्य निर्धारित किया है उसे पूरा करो। हे महानुभाव! अपना मन लड़ने पर लगाओ और रथ-एस के नेता को पीछे हटाओ।

पञ्च ह्येतानि मुख्यानां रथानां रथसत्तम शतान्यायान्ति वेगेन बलिनां भीमतेजसाम्

O supreme among rāṭha-s! Five foremost rāṭha-s are powerfully advancing towards you, with hundreds of others. They are strong and fierce in their energy.

हे रथों में श्रेष्ठ! पांच प्रमुख रथ सैकड़ों अन्य लोगों के साथ शक्तिशाली ढंग से आपकी ओर बढ़ रहे हैं। वे अपनी ऊर्जा में मजबूत और उग्र हैं।

पञ्च नागसहस्राणि द्विगुणा वाजिनस्तथा अभिसंहत्य कौन्तेय पदातिप्रयुतानि च अन्योन्यरक्षितं वीर बलं त्वामभिवर्तते

There are five thousand elephants and twice that number of horses. O Kaunteya! Ten thousand foot soldiers are also advancing. O brave one! Protecting each other, that army is advancing towards you.

वहाँ पाँच हजार हाथी और उससे दोगुने घोड़े हैं। हे कौन्तेय! दस हजार पैदल सैनिक भी आगे बढ़ रहे हैं। हे वीर! वह सेना एक दूसरे की रक्षा करती हुई तुम्हारी ओर बढ़ रही है।

सूतपुत्रे महेष्वासे दर्शयात्मानमात्मना उत्तमं यत्नमास्थाय प्रत्येहि भरतर्षभ

Reveal your own self to the son of a sūta, the great archer. O bull among the Bhārata lineage! Make the best of efforts and repulse them.

सूतपुत्र, महान धनुर्धर के सामने अपना स्वरूप प्रकट करो। हे भरत वंश में बैल! सर्वोत्तम प्रयास करें और उन्हें खदेड़ें।

असौ कर्णः सुसंरब्धः पाञ्चालानभिधावति केतुमस्य हि पश्यामि धृष्टद्युम्नरथं प्रति समुच्छेत्स्यति पाञ्चालानिति मन्ये परंतप

This Karṇa is extremely angry and is attacking the Pāñcāla-s. Behold his flag in the direction of Dhṛṣṭadyumna's chariot. O scorcher of enemies! I think that he will uproot the Pāñcāla-s.

यह कर्ण अत्यंत क्रोधित है और पंचालों पर आक्रमण कर रहा है। धृष्टद्युम्न के रथ की दिशा में उसके ध्वज को देखो। हे शत्रुओं को भस्म करने वाले! मुझे लगता है कि वह पंचालों को उखाड़ फेंकेगा।

आचक्षे ते प्रियं पार्थ तदेवं भरतर्षभ राजा जीवति कौरव्यो धर्मपुत्रो युधिष्ठिरः

O Pārtha! O bull among the Bhārata lineage! But I will tell you something that will please you. Kauravya King Yudhiṣṭhira, Dharma's son, is alive.

हे पार्थ! हे भरत वंश में बैल! परन्तु मैं तुम्हें कुछ ऐसा बताऊंगा जिससे तुम्हें प्रसन्नता होगी। धर्म के पुत्र कौरव्य राजा युधिष्ठिर जीवित हैं।

असौ भीमो महाबाहुः संनिवृत्तश्चमूमुखे वृतः सृञ्जयसैन्येन सात्यकेन च भारत

The mighty-armed Bhīmā has returned and is stationed at the head of the army. O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! He is surrounded by the Sṛñjaya soldiers and by Sātyaki.

महाबाहु भीम वापस आ गए हैं और सेना के प्रमुख पद पर तैनात हैं। हे भरत वंश के वंशज! वह सृंजय सैनिकों और सात्यकि से घिरा हुआ है।

वध्यन्त एते समरे कौरवा निशितैः शरैः भीमसेनेन कौन्तेय पाञ्चालैश्च महात्मभिः

O Kaunteya! In this encounter, Bhīmasena and the great-souled Pāñcāla-s are slaying the Kaurava-s with sharp arrows.

हे कौन्तेय! इस मुठभेड़ में भीमसेन और महाबली पंचाल कौरवों को तीखे बाणों से मार रहे हैं।

सेना हि धार्तराष्ट्रस्य विमुखा चाभवद्रणात् विप्रधावति वेगेन भीमस्य निहता शरैः

The soldiers of Dhṛtarāṣṭra's son are retreating and running away from the field of battle. Slain by Bhīmā's forceful arrows, they are being routed.

धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र के सैनिक पीछे हट रहे हैं और युद्ध के मैदान से भाग रहे हैं। भीम के प्रबल बाणों से मारे गये वे मारे जा रहे हैं।

विपन्नसस्येव मही रुधिरेण समुक्षिता भारती भरतश्रेष्ठ सेना कृपणदर्शना

With blood flowing from their wounds, they look like the earth after a crop has been harvested. O best of the Bhārata-s! The army of the Bhārata-s presents a miserable sight.

उनके घावों से बहते खून के साथ, वे फसल कटने के बाद की धरती की तरह दिखते हैं। हे भरतश्रेष्ठ! भरत की सेना एक दयनीय दृश्य प्रस्तुत करती है।

निवृत्तं पश्य कौन्तेय भीमसेनं युधां पतिम् आशीविषमिव क्रुद्धं तस्माद्द्रवति वाहिनी

O Kaunteya! Behold. They have been forced to retreat. Bhīmasena, the lord of warriors, who is like a venomous serpent, has angrily driven away the army.

हे कौन्तेय! देखो. उन्हें पीछे हटने के लिए मजबूर होना पड़ा है. विषैले सर्प के समान योद्धाओं के स्वामी भीमसेन ने क्रोधपूर्वक सेना को भगा दिया है।

पीतरक्तासितसितास्ताराचन्द्रार्कमण्डिताः पताका विप्रकीर्यन्ते छत्राण्येतानि चार्जुन

O Arjuna! Yellow, red, black and white flags, with the signs of stars, the moon and the sun, and many umbrellas are strewn around.

हे अर्जुन! पीले, लाल, काले और सफेद झंडे, जिन पर तारे, चंद्रमा और सूर्य के चिन्ह बने हुए थे, और कई छतरियां चारों ओर बिखरी हुई थीं।

सौवर्णा राजताश्चैव तैजसाश्च पृथग्विधाः केतवो विनिपात्यन्ते हस्त्यश्वं विप्रकीर्यते

There are golden and silver standards and those that are made of other metals. They have been brought down and are scattered around, and so are elephants and horses.

सोने और चांदी के मानक हैं और वे जो अन्य धातुओं से बने हैं। उन्हें नीचे लाया गया है और वे चारों ओर बिखरे हुए हैं, और हाथी और घोड़े भी हैं।

रथेभ्यः प्रपतन्त्येते रथिनो विगतासवः नानावर्णैर्हता बाणैः पाञ्चालैरपलायिभिः

Deprived of their lives, rāṭha-s have fallen down from their chariots. They have been slain by many-hued arrows released by the Pāñcāla-s, who are not running away.

अपने प्राणों से वंचित रथवासी अपने रथों से नीचे गिर गये हैं। वे पंचालों द्वारा छोड़े गए बहुरंगी बाणों से मारे गए हैं, जो भाग नहीं रहे हैं।

निर्मनुष्यान्गजानश्वान्रथांश्चैव धनंजय समाद्रवन्ति पाञ्चाला धार्तराष्ट्रांस्तरस्विनः

O Dhanañjayā! The army of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra is without men, elephants, horses and chariots, and the Pāñcāla-s are spiritedly driving it away.

हे धनंजय! धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों की सेना पुरुषों, हाथियों, घोड़ों और रथों से रहित है और पंचाल उत्साहपूर्वक उसे खदेड़ रहे हैं।

मृद्नन्ति च नरव्याघ्रा भीमसेनव्यपाश्रयात् बलं परेषां दुर्धर्षं त्यक्त्वा प्राणानरिंदम

O scorcher of enemies! The enemy's army was unassailable. But ready to give up their lives and seeking refuge with Bhīmasena, they are driving it away.

हे शत्रुओं को भस्म करने वाले! शत्रु की सेना अजेय थी। परंतु वे अपने प्राण त्यागने को तैयार हैं और भीमसेन की शरण में जाकर उसे भगा रहे हैं।

एते नदन्ति पाञ्चाला धमन्त्यपि च वारिजान् अभिद्रवन्ति च रणे निघ्नन्तः सायकैः परान्

The Pāñcāla-s are roaring, like clouds at the end of the summer. They are driving away the enemy in the battle and slaying them with arrows.

पश्य स्वर्गस्य माहात्म्यं पाञ्चाला हि परंतप धार्तराष्ट्रान्विनिघ्नन्ति क्रुद्धाः सिंहा इव द्विपान्

O scorcher of enemies! Behold the greatness of heaven before the Pāñcāla-s. They are angrily slaying the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, like lions against elephants.

हे शत्रुओं को भस्म करने वाले! Behold the greatness of heaven before the Pāñcāla-s. They are angrily slaying the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, like lions against elephants.

सर्वतश्चाभिपन्नैषा धार्तराष्ट्री महाचमूः पाञ्चालैर्मानसादेत्य हंसैर्गङ्गेव वेगितैः

Every part of the large army of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra has been attacked. The force of the Pāñcāla-s is like that of swans that leave Mānasa for the Gāṅga.

धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों की विशाल सेना के प्रत्येक भाग पर आक्रमण हो चुका है। पंचालों का बल उन हंसों के समान है जो मानस को गंगा के लिए छोड़ देते हैं।

सुभृशं च पराक्रान्ताः पाञ्चालानां निवारणे कृपकर्णादयो वीरा ऋषभाणामिवर्षभाः

Kṛpa, Karṇa and other brave ones are severely trying to counter the valorous Pāñcāla-s, like bulls against bulls.

कृप, कर्ण तथा अन्य शूरवीर वीर पंचालों का मुकाबला करने के लिए उसी प्रकार प्रयत्नशील हैं, जैसे बैल बैल के विरुद्ध करते हैं।

सुनिमग्नांश्च भीमास्त्रैर्धार्तराष्ट्रान्महारथान् धृष्टद्युम्नमुखा वीरा घ्नन्ति शत्रून्सहस्रशः विषण्णभूयिष्ठरथा धार्तराष्ट्री महाचमूः

However, the mahāratha-s among the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra are deeply submerged in Bhīmā's weapons. On seeing that the rāṭha-s in the great army of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra are distressed, the brave ones, with Dhṛṣṭadyumna at the forefront, are slaying the enemy in thousands.

हालाँकि, धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों में से महारथी भीम के हथियारों में गहराई से डूबे हुए हैं। यह देखकर कि धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों की विशाल सेना में रथ-पुरुष व्यथित हैं, वीर धृष्टद्युम्न को सबसे आगे लेकर हजारों की संख्या में शत्रुओं का संहार कर रहे हैं।

पश्य भीमेन नाराचैश्छिन्ना नागाः पतन्त्यमी वज्रिवज्राहतानीव शिखराणि महीभृताम्

Behold. The elephants have been shattered by Bhīmā's iron arrows and are falling down. They are like summits that have fallen down on the ground, after being struck by the vajra of the wielder of the vajra.

देखो. भीम के बाणों से हाथी चूर-चूर हो गये हैं और गिर रहे हैं। वे उन शिखरों के समान हैं जो वज्र धारण करने वाले के वज्र से आहत होकर भूमि पर गिर गये हैं।

भीमसेनस्य निर्विद्धा बाणैः संनतपर्वभिः स्वान्यनीकानि मृद्नन्तो द्रवन्त्येते महागजाः

Mighty elephants have been struck by Bhīmasena's straight-tufted arrows. As they are running away, they are slaying their own soldiers.

भीमसेन के सीधे नुकीले बाणों से शक्तिशाली हाथी घायल हो गये हैं। जैसे-जैसे वे भाग रहे हैं, वे अपने ही सैनिकों को मार रहे हैं।

नाभिजानासि भीमस्य सिंहनादं दुरुत्सहम् नदतोऽर्जुन संग्रामे वीरस्य जितकाशिनः

Do you not know Bhīmā's unbearable leonine roar? O Arjuna! Desiring victory in the battle, the brave one is roaring.

क्या आप भीम की असहनीय सिंहनाद नहीं जानते? हे अर्जुन! रण में विजय की कामना से वीर दहाड़ रहा है।

एष नैषादिरभ्येति द्विपमुख्येन पाण्डवम् जिघांसुस्तोमरैः क्रुद्धो दण्डपाणिरिवान्तकः

Astride a supreme elephant, the Niṣāda is advancing against Pāṇḍava. He is angrily attacking him with javelins, like Yāma with a staff in his hand.

एक श्रेष्ठ हाथी पर सवार होकर, निषाद पांडवों के खिलाफ आगे बढ़ रहा है। वह गुस्से में उस पर भाले से हमला कर रहा है, जैसे यम हाथ में छड़ी लेकर।

सतोमरावस्य भुजौ छिन्नौ भीमेन गर्जतः तीक्ष्णैरग्निशिखाप्रख्यैर्नाराचैर्दशभिर्हतः

Bhīmā is roaring and breaking down those javelins with his bare hands. He has then used ten sharp iron arrows, which are like the flames of the fire, to slay him.

भीम दहाड़ रहा है और अपने नंगे हाथों से उन भालों को तोड़ रहा है। फिर उसने उसे मारने के लिए आग की लपटों के समान दस तीखे लोहे के बाणों का उपयोग किया।

हत्वैनं पुनरायाति नागानन्यान्प्रहारिणः पश्य नीलाम्बुदनिभान्महामात्रैरधिष्ठितान् शक्तितोमरसंकाशैर्विनिघ्नन्तं वृकोदरम्

Behold. Having slain him, the striker has again attacked other elephants that are like blue clouds and are driven by skilled drivers. Vṛkodara has slain them with spears and javelins

Slaying their elephants, seven at a time, he has brought down their victorious standards. They have been slain and mangled with sharp arrows by Pārtha's elder brother. Each of ten elephants has been slain by ten sharp arrows.

एक बार में सात हाथियों को मारकर, उसने उनके विजयी मानकों को गिरा दिया है। पार्थ के बड़े भाई ने उन्हें तीखे बाणों से मार डाला है और क्षत-विक्षत कर दिया है। दसों हाथियों में से प्रत्येक को दस तीखे बाणों से मार डाला गया है।

न चासौ धार्तराष्ट्राणां श्रूयते निनदस्तथा पुरंदरसमे क्रुद्धे निवृत्ते भरतर्षभे

The roars of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra can no longer be heard now. They have been forced to retreat by the angry bull among the Bhārata lineage, who is Purandara's equal.

धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों की दहाड़ें अब सुनाई नहीं देतीं। उन्हें भरत वंश के क्रोधित बैल द्वारा पीछे हटने के लिए मजबूर किया गया है, जो पुरंदर के बराबर है।

अक्षौहिण्यस्तथा तिस्रो धार्तराष्ट्रस्य संहताः क्रुद्धेन नरसिंहेन भीमसेनेन वारिताः

Three akṣauhiṇī-s from the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra united against him. However, Bhīmasena, lion among men, angrily countered them."

धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों में से तीन अक्षौहिणी उनके विरुद्ध एकजुट हो गईं। हालाँकि, मनुष्यों में सिंह भीमसेन ने क्रोधपूर्वक उनका प्रतिकार किया।"

संजय उवाच भीमसेनेन तत्कर्म कृतं दृष्ट्वा सुदुष्करम् अर्जुनो व्यधमच्छिष्टानहितान्निशितैः शरैः

Sañjaya said: On seeing that Bhīmasena had accomplished that extremely difficult deed, Arjuna slaughtered the remaining ones with his sharp arrows.

संजय ने कहा: यह देखकर कि भीमसेन ने वह अत्यंत कठिन कार्य पूरा कर लिया है, अर्जुन ने अपने तीखे बाणों से शेष बचे लोगों को भी मार डाला।

ते वध्यमानाः समरे संशप्तकगणाः प्रभो शक्रस्यातिथितां गत्वा विशोका ह्यभवन्मुदा

O lord! Large numbers of saṃśaptaka-s were slaughtered in that battle. Bereft of sorrow and filled with delight, they became Śākra's guests.

हे भगवान! उस युद्ध में बड़ी संख्या में संशप्तक मारे गए। दुःख से रहित और प्रसन्नता से परिपूर्ण, वे शक्र के अतिथि बन गये।

पार्थश्च पुरुषव्याघ्रः शरैः संनतपर्वभिः जघान धार्तराष्ट्रस्य चतुर्विधबलां चमूम्

With straight-tufted arrows, Pārtha, tiger among men, destroyed the fourfold army of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra.

मनुष्यों में व्याघ्र पार्थ ने सीधे नुकीले बाणों से धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों की चतुर्भुज सेना को नष्ट कर दिया।
