संजय उवाच स एवं चिन्तयित्वा तु द्रोणपुत्रो विशां पते अवतीर्य रथोपस्थाद्दध्यौ संप्रयतः स्थितः

Sañjaya said: O lord of the earth! Having thought in this way, Droṇa's son descended from the seat of his chariot and bowed down in obeisance.

संजय ने कहा: हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! इस प्रकार विचार करके द्रोणपुत्र अपने रथ के स्थान से नीचे उतरे और प्रणाम करके प्रणाम किया।

द्रौणिरुवाच उग्रं स्थाणुं शिवं रुद्रं शर्वमीशानमीश्वरम् गिरिशं वरदं देवं भवं भावनमव्ययम्

Droṇa's son said, "I seek refuge with Ugra, Sthāṇu, Rudra, Śarva, Īśāna, Īśvara, Girīśa, the god Varadā, Bhāva, the undecaying Bhāvana,

द्रोण के पुत्र ने कहा, "मैं उग्र, स्थाणु, रुद्र, शर्व, ईशान, ईश्वर, गिरीष, भगवान वरदा, भाव, अविनाशी भवन की शरण लेता हूं।

शितिकण्ठमजं शक्रं क्रथं क्रतुहरं हरम् विश्वरूपं विरूपाक्षं बहुरूपमुमापतिम्

Śitikaṇṭha, Aja, Śākra, Krātha, Kratuhara, Hara, Viśvarūpa, Virūpākṣa, Bahurūpa, Umāpati,

शितिकांठ, अज, शक्र, क्रथ, क्रतुहर, हारा, विश्वरूप, विरूपाक्ष, बहुरूप, उमापति,

श्मशानवासिनं दृप्तं महागणपतिं प्रभुम् खट्वाङ्गधारिणं मुण्डं जटिलं ब्रह्मचारिणम्

Shmashanavasina, Dṛpta, the lord who is Mahāgaṇapati, Khattangadharina, Muṇḍa, Jaṭilā and Brahmachari.

शमशानवासिना, द्रप्त, भगवान जो महागणपति, खट्टंगधारिन, मुंडा, जतिला और ब्रह्मचारी हैं।

मनसाप्यसुचिन्त्येन दुष्करेणाल्पचेतसा सोऽहमात्मोपहारेण यक्ष्ये त्रिपुरघातिनम्

He is the one who has to be carefully thought of in the mind. He is the one who those of limited intelligence find extremely difficult to attain. In the sacrifice, I offer myself as a gift to the destroyer of Tripurā.

उसी का ध्यान मन में ध्यानपूर्वक करना है। वह वह है जिसे प्राप्त करना सीमित बुद्धि वाले लोगों के लिए अत्यंत कठिन होता है। यज्ञ में मैं स्वयं को त्रिपुरा के विनाशक को अर्पित करता हूँ।

स्तुतं स्तुत्यं स्तूयमानममोघं चर्मवाससम् विलोहितं नीलकण्ठमपृक्तं दुर्निवारणम्

He is the one who has been praised. He is the one who deserves to be praised. I am praising the irresistible one, who has hides as his garment. O Vilohita! O Nīlakaṇṭha! O Apṛkta! O Durnivāra!

उनकी ही महिमा है। वही प्रशंसा के पात्र हैं. मैं उस अप्रतिरोध्य की स्तुति कर रहा हूं, जिसके वस्त्र के रूप में खाल है। हे विलोहिता! हे नीलकंठ! हे अप्रक्त! हे दुर्निवर!

शुक्रं विश्वसृजं ब्रह्म ब्रह्मचारिणमेव च व्रतवन्तं तपोनित्यमनन्तं तपतां गतिम्

O Śukra! O Vishvasrija! O brāhman! O brahmachari! You are the one who follows vows. You are always engaged in austerities. You are infinite. You are the objective of austerities.

हे शुक्र! हे विश्वसृजा! हे ब्राह्मण! हे ब्रह्मचारी! आप व्रतों का पालन करने वाले हैं. आप सदैव तपस्या में लगे रहते हैं। आप अनंत हैं. आप ही तपस्या के उद्देश्य हैं।

बहुरूपं गणाध्यक्षं त्र्यक्षं पारिषदप्रियम् गणाध्यक्षेक्षितमुखं गौरीहृदयवल्लभम्

You have many forms. You are the lord of gaṇā-s. You are three-eyed. You are the one who loves your attendants. You are the one towards whom the lord of the gaṇā-s always looks. You are the lord of Gaurī's heart.

आपके अनेक रूप हैं. आप गणों के स्वामी हैं। आप त्रिनेत्रधारी हैं। आप अपने सेवकों से प्रेम करने वाले व्यक्ति हैं। आप ही वह व्यक्ति हैं जिसकी ओर गणों के स्वामी सदैव दृष्टि रखते हैं। आप गौरी के हृदय के स्वामी हैं।

कुमारपितरं पिङ्गं गोवृषोत्तमवाहनम् तनुवाससमत्युग्रमुमाभूषणतत्परम्

You are the father of Kumāra. You are tawny. You have a bull as your mount. Your body is like your garment. You are extremely fierce. You are eager to adorn Umā.

आप कुमार के पिता हैं. तुम गहरे भूरे रंग के हो. आपकी सवारी के रूप में बैल है। तुम्हारा शरीर तुम्हारे वस्त्र के समान है। आप अत्यंत उग्र हैं. आप उमा का श्रृंगार करने के लिए उत्सुक हैं।

परं परेभ्यः परमं परं यस्मान्न विद्यते इष्वस्त्रोत्तमभर्तारं दिगन्तं चैव दक्षिणम्

You are greater than everything. You are supreme. There is nothing that is greater than you. You are the lord of all arrows and weapons. You are the southern horizon.

आप हर चीज़ से महान हैं. आप सर्वोच्च हैं. ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं है जो आपसे महान हो। आप सभी बाणों और अस्त्र-शस्त्रों के स्वामी हैं। आप दक्षिणी क्षितिज हैं.

हिरण्यकवचं देवं चन्द्रमौलिविभूषितम् प्रपद्ये शरणं देवं परमेण समाधिना

You are clad in golden armour. You are the god who is adorned with the moon on his head. O god! I meditate supremely on you.

आप स्वर्ण कवच पहने हुए हैं। आप मस्तक पर चंद्रमा को धारण करने वाले देवता हैं। रब्बा बे! मैं आपका परम ध्यान करता हूँ।

इमां चाप्यापदं घोरां तराम्यद्य सुदुस्तराम् सर्वभूतोपहारेण यक्ष्येऽहं शुचिना शुचिम्

I am facing this great calamity now, one that is extremely difficult to counter. You are the purest of the pure. I am offering all the elements in my body as a gift to you in this sacrifice."

मैं अब इस बड़ी विपत्ति का सामना कर रहा हूं, जिसका मुकाबला करना बेहद मुश्किल है। आप पवित्रतम हैं। मैं इस यज्ञ में अपने शरीर के सभी तत्वों को आपको उपहार स्वरूप अर्पित कर रहा हूं।”

इति तस्य व्यवसितं ज्ञात्वा त्यागात्मकं मनः पुरस्तात्काञ्चनी वेदिः प्रादुरासीन्महात्मनः

On realizing that this was the great-souled one's intention and that he had made up his mind to give himself up, a golden altar appeared before him.

यह समझने पर कि यह उस महान आत्मा का इरादा था और उसने खुद को त्यागने का मन बना लिया था, उसके सामने एक सुनहरी वेदी प्रकट हुई।

तस्यां वेद्यां तदा राजंश्चित्रभानुरजायत द्यां दिशो विदिशः खं च ज्वालाभिरभिपूरयन्

O king! A wonderful fire manifested itself on the altar. The flames enveloped the directions, the sub-directions and the firmament.

हे राजा! वेदी पर एक अद्भुत अग्नि प्रकट हुई। आग की लपटों ने दिशाओं, उपदिशाओं और आकाश को घेर लिया।

दीप्तास्यनयनाश्चात्र नैकपादशिरोभुजाः द्विपशैलप्रतीकाशाः प्रादुरासन्महाननाः

Many beings also manifested themselves there. They possessed flaming mouths and eyes. They had many feet, heads and arms. They were like elephants and mountains, with giant faces.

वहाँ अनेक प्राणी भी प्रकट हुए। उनके ज्वलंत मुँह और आँखें थीं। उनके अनेक पैर, सिर और भुजाएँ थीं। वे विशाल मुखों वाले हाथियों और पर्वतों के समान थे।

श्ववराहोष्ट्ररूपाश्च हयगोमायुगोमुखाः ऋक्षमार्जारवदना व्याघ्रद्वीपिमुखास्तथा

There were forms like dogs, boars and camels. There were mouths like horses, jackals and cows. There were faces like bears and cats and mouths like tigers and leopards.

वहाँ कुत्ते, सूअर और ऊँट जैसी आकृतियाँ थीं। घोड़े, सियार और गाय जैसे मुख थे। उनके चेहरे भालू और बिल्ली जैसे और मुँह बाघ और तेंदुए जैसे थे।

काकवक्त्राः प्लवमुखाः शुकवक्त्रास्तथैव च महाजगरवक्त्राश्च हंसवक्त्राः सितप्रभाः

There were faces like crows, mouths like apes and faces like parrots. Some possessed mouths like giant snakes. Others had mouths that were white in complexion and like those of swans.

कौवे जैसे चेहरे, वानर जैसे मुंह और तोते जैसे चेहरे थे। कुछ के मुँह विशाल साँपों जैसे थे। दूसरों के मुँह सफेद रंग के और हंसों के समान थे।

दार्वाघाटमुखाश्चैव चाषवक्त्राश्च भारत कूर्मनक्रमुखाश्चैव शिशुमारमुखास्तथा

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! Some possessed mouths like woodpeckers and faces like blue jays. There were mouths like tortoises and alligators, mouths like porpoises.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! कुछ के मुँह कठफोड़वा जैसे और चेहरे नीले नीलमणि जैसे थे। वहाँ कछुओं और घड़ियालों के जैसे मुँह थे, पर्पोइज़ के जैसे मुँह थे।

महामकरवक्त्राश्च तिमिवक्त्रास्तथैव च हरिवक्त्राः क्रौञ्चमुखाः कपोतेभमुखास्तथा

Some had mouths like giant sharks. Others had mouths like whales. Some had mouths like lions, or faces like curlews.

कुछ के मुँह विशाल शार्क जैसे थे। दूसरों के मुंह व्हेल जैसे थे। कुछ के मुँह सिंहों के समान थे, या चेहरे घुंघराले बालों के समान थे।

पारावतमुखाश्चैव मद्गुवक्त्रास्तथैव च पाणिकर्णाः सहस्राक्षास्तथैव च शतोदराः

Others possessed mouths like doves or pigeons. Others had mouths like snakes. Some had ears on their hands. Others had thousands of eyes and hundreds of stomachs.

दूसरों के पास कबूतर या कबूतरी जैसे मुँह थे। दूसरों के मुँह साँप जैसे थे। कुछ के हाथों पर कान थे। दूसरों की हजारों आंखें और सैकड़ों पेट थे।

निर्मांसाः कोकवक्त्राश्च श्येनवक्त्राश्च भारत तथैवाशिरसो राजन्नृक्षवक्त्राश्च भीषणाः

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! There were those without flesh, with mouths like wolves and mouths like hawks. Some had no heads. O king! Some had terrible mouths like bears.

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! वहाँ वे लोग थे जिनके शरीर में मांस नहीं था, उनके मुँह भेड़ियों जैसे और मुँह बाजों जैसे थे। कुछ के सिर नहीं थे. हे राजा! कुछ के मुख भालू जैसे भयानक थे।

प्रदीप्तनेत्रजिह्वाश्च ज्वालावक्त्रास्तथैव च मेषवक्त्रास्तथैवान्ये तथा छागमुखा नृप

Eyes and tongues blazed. There were others with flaming mouths. O king! There were others with faces like sheep and mouths like goats.

आँखें और ज़बानें जल गईं। वहाँ अन्य लोग भी थे जिनका मुँह जल रहा था। हे राजा! कुछ अन्य लोग भी थे जिनके चेहरे भेड़ जैसे और मुँह बकरी जैसे थे।

शङ्खाभाः शङ्खवक्त्राश्च शङ्खकर्णास्तथैव च शङ्खमालापरिकराः शङ्खध्वनिसमस्वनाः

There were those with the complexion of conch shells, with mouths like conch shells and ears like conch shells. Some wore garlands of conch shells. Others had voices like conch shells.

शंख के समान रंग वाले, शंख के समान मुख वाले और शंख के समान कान वाले भी थे। कुछ लोग शंख की माला पहनते थे। दूसरों की आवाजें शंख जैसी थीं।

जटाधराः पञ्चशिखास्तथा मुण्डाः कृशोदराः चतुर्दंष्ट्राश्चतुर्जिह्वाः शङ्कुकर्णाः किरीटिनः

Some had matted hair, five tufts, or were shaven. Others had lean stomachs. There were four teeth and four tongues. Some had conical ears, or were diademed.

कुछ के बाल उलझे हुए थे, पाँच गुच्छे थे, या मुँडे हुए थे। दूसरों का पेट दुबला था। चार दाँत और चार जीभें थीं। कुछ के कान शंक्वाकार थे, या हीरे जैसे थे।

मौलीधराश्च राजेन्द्र तथाकुञ्चितमूर्धजाः उष्णीषिणो मुकुटिनश्चारुवक्त्राः स्वलंकृताः

O Indra among kings! Some wore gras-s on their bodies. Others had curly hair. Some wore headdresses and crowns. Others had beautiful mouths and were ornamented.

हे राजाओं में इन्द्र! कुछ ने अपने शरीर पर घास पहन रखी थी। दूसरों के बाल घुंघराले थे। कुछ ने सिर पर टोपी और मुकुट पहना था। दूसरों के मुख सुन्दर थे और वे अलंकृत थे।

पद्मोत्पलापीडधरास्तथा कुमुदधारिणः माहात्म्येन च संयुक्ताः शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः

Some wore lotuses and white lotuses, others were decorated with lilies. They were full of greatness and there were hundreds and thousands of them.

कुछ ने कमल और सफेद कमल पहने थे, अन्य ने लिली से सजावट की थी। वे महानता से भरे हुए थे और उनकी संख्या सैकड़ों और हजारों में थी।

शतघ्नीचक्रहस्ताश्च तथा मुसलपाणयः भुशुण्डीपाशहस्ताश्च गदाहस्ताश्च भारत

Some had śataghnī-s and cakra-s in their hands. Others had clubs in their hands. O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! There were those with catapults and nooses in their hands, others with bludgeons in their hands.

कुछ के हाथों में शतघ्नी और चक्र थे। दूसरों के हाथों में क्लब थे। हे भरत वंश के वंशज! कुछ लोग अपने हाथों में गुलेल और फंदे लिए हुए थे, कुछ लोग अपने हाथों में डंडे लिए हुए थे।

पृष्ठेषु बद्धेषुधयश्चित्रबाणा रणोत्कटाः सध्वजाः सपताकाश्च सघण्टाः सपरश्वधाः

Some girded quivers on their backs, full of colourful arrows. They were indomitable in battle. They were with standards, pennants, bells and battleaxes.

उनकी पीठ पर कुछ कमरबंद तरकश, रंगीन तीरों से भरे हुए। वे युद्ध में अदम्य थे। वे ध्वज, पताका, घंटियाँ और युद्धकुल्हाड़ियों के साथ थे।

महापाशोद्यतकरास्तथा लगुडपाणयः स्थूणाहस्ताः खड्गहस्ताः सर्पोच्छ्रितकिरीटिनः महासर्पाङ्गदधराश्चित्राभरणधारिणः

Some raised giant nooses in their hands. Others had maces in their hands. Some had pillars in their hands. Others had swords in their hands. There were those with snakes around their crowns. Others had giant snakes as their armlets and were adorned in colourful ornaments.

कुछ ने अपने हाथों में विशाल पाश उठाये। दूसरों के हाथों में गदाएँ थीं। कुछ के हाथ में खंभे थे. दूसरों के हाथों में तलवारें थीं। वहाँ ऐसे लोग थे जिनके मुकुट के चारों ओर साँप थे। दूसरों के बाजूबंद में विशाल साँप थे और वे रंग-बिरंगे आभूषणों से सुसज्जित थे।

रजोध्वस्ताः पङ्कदिग्धाः सर्वे शुक्लाम्बरस्रजः नीलाङ्गाः कमलाङ्गाश्च मुण्डवक्त्रास्तथैव च

Some were covered with dust. Others were covered with mud. All of them were attired in white garments and garlands. Some had blue limbs. Others possessed orange limbs. Some had faces that were shaven.

कुछ धूल से सने हुए थे। अन्य लोग कीचड़ से सने हुए थे। वे सभी श्वेत वस्त्र और मालाएँ पहने हुए थे। कुछ के अंग नीले थे। दूसरों के अंग नारंगी थे। कुछ के चेहरे मुँडे हुए थे।

भेरीशङ्खमृदङ्गांस्ते झर्झरानकगोमुखान् अवादयन्पारिषदाः प्रहृष्टाः कनकप्रभाः

With complexions like gold, those cheerful companions played on musical instruments like drums, conch shells, smaller drums, jhārjhara-s, other drums and trumpets.

सोने जैसे रंग के साथ, वे हंसमुख साथी ड्रम, शंख, छोटे ड्रम, झरझरा-एस, अन्य ड्रम और तुरही जैसे संगीत वाद्ययंत्र बजाते थे।

गायमानास्तथैवान्ये नृत्यमानास्तथापरे लङ्घयन्तः प्लवन्तश्च वल्गन्तश्च महाबलाः

Some sang. Others danced. Those immensely strong ones jumped, leapt and whirled around.

कुछ ने गाया. अन्य लोगों ने नृत्य किया. वे अत्यंत शक्तिशाली लोग उछले, उछले और इधर-उधर घूमने लगे।

धावन्तो जवनाश्चण्डाः पवनोद्धूतमूर्धजाः मत्ता इव महानागा विनदन्तो मुहुर्मुहुः

They ran swiftly and fiercely, the hair raised up by the wind. They were like crazy and giant elephants and roared repeatedly.

वे तेजी से और भयंकर रूप से भागे, हवा के कारण उनके बाल ऊपर उठ गये। वे पागल और विशाल हाथियों के समान थे और बार-बार गर्जना करते थे।

सुभीमा घोररूपाश्च शूलपट्टिशपाणयः नानाविरागवसनाश्चित्रमाल्यानुलेपनाः

They were extremely terrible, fearsome in form. They had spears and swords in their hands. Their garments were of many different colours.

वे अत्यंत भयानक, डरावने रूप वाले थे। उनके हाथों में भाले और तलवारें थीं। उनके वस्त्र अनेक रंगों के थे।

रत्नचित्राङ्गदधराः समुद्यतकरास्तथा हन्तारो द्विषतां शूराः प्रसह्यासह्यविक्रमाः

They were adorned with colourful garlands and unguents. They wore beautiful armlets decorated with jewels and their arms were raised up. They were brave and the slayers of enemies. They could withstand. But it was impossible to withstand them.

वे रंग-बिरंगी मालाओं और श्रीफलों से सुशोभित थे। वे आभूषणों से सुसज्जित सुन्दर बाजूबंद पहने हुए थे और उनकी भुजाएँ ऊपर उठी हुई थीं। वे वीर और शत्रुओं के संहारक थे। वे झेल सकते थे. लेकिन उनका सामना करना नामुमकिन था.

पातारोऽसृग्वसाद्यानां मांसान्त्रकृतभोजनाः चूडालाः कर्णिकालाश्च प्रकृशाः पिठरोदराः

They drank blood and ate fat and marrow. They sustained themselves on flesh and entrails. Some had hair that was tied up in tufts. Some had earrings. Some were thin. Others had thick stomachs.

उन्होंने खून पिया और चर्बी और मज्जा खाया। उन्होंने खुद को मांस और अंतड़ियों पर टिकाया। कुछ के बाल गुच्छों में बंधे हुए थे। कुछ के पास बालियाँ थीं। कुछ पतले थे. दूसरों का पेट मोटा था।

अतिह्रस्वातिदीर्घाश्च प्रबलाश्चातिभैरवाः विकटाः काललम्बोष्ठा बृहच्छेफास्थिपिण्डिकाः

Some were extremely short. Others were extremely tall. Some were strong and extremely terrible. Some were terrible to look at. Others had drooping lips. Some possessed long penises. Others had knotted bones.

कुछ बेहद छोटे थे. अन्य बहुत लम्बे थे। कुछ शक्तिशाली और अत्यंत भयानक थे। कुछ देखने में भयानक थे। दूसरों के होंठ झुके हुए थे। कुछ के लिंग लम्बे थे। दूसरों की हड्डियाँ गाँठदार थीं।

महार्हनानामुकुटा मुण्डाश्च जटिलाः परे सार्केन्दुग्रहनक्षत्रां द्यां कुर्युर्ये महीतले

Some wore extremely expensive crowns. Others were matted or shaven. They were capable of bringing down the sun, the moon, the planets and the nakṣatra-s on the ground.

कुछ ने अत्यधिक महँगे मुकुट पहने। अन्य उलझे हुए या मुंडा हुए थे। वे सूर्य, चंद्रमा, ग्रहों और नक्षत्रों को जमीन पर लाने में सक्षम थे।

उत्सहेरंश्च ये हन्तुं भूतग्रामं चतुर्विधम् ये च वीतभया नित्यं हरस्य भ्रुकुटीभटाः

If they so desired, they were capable of slaughtering the four types of beings. They were always without fear and were capable of tolerating Hara's frowns.

यदि वे चाहें, तो वे चार प्रकार के प्राणियों का वध करने में सक्षम थे। वे सदैव भयमुक्त रहते थे और हारा की नाराजगी को सहन करने में सक्षम थे।

कामकारकराः सिद्धास्त्रैलोक्यस्येश्वरेश्वराः नित्यानन्दप्रमुदिता वागीशा वीतमत्सराः

They were successful in doing whatever they wanted. They were the lords of the lords of the three worlds. They were always engaged in sporting. They were the lords of speech. They were always devoid of malice.

वे जो चाहते थे, उसमें सफल रहे। वे तीनों लोकों के अधिपति थे। वे सदैव खेल-कूद में लगे रहते थे। वे वाणी के स्वामी थे। वे सदैव द्वेष से रहित रहते थे।

प्राप्याष्टगुणमैश्वर्यं ये न यान्ति च विस्मयम् येषां विस्मयते नित्यं भगवान्कर्मभिर्हरः

Having obtained the eight kinds of prosperity, they were no longer overcome by wonder. However, the illustrious Hara was always amazed at their deeds.

आठ प्रकार की समृद्धि प्राप्त करने के बाद, वे अब आश्चर्य से अभिभूत नहीं हुए। हालाँकि, प्रसिद्ध हारा हमेशा उनके कार्यों से आश्चर्यचकित थे।

मनोवाक्कर्मभिर्भक्तैर्नित्यमाराधितश्च यैः मनोवाक्कर्मभिर्भक्तान्पाति पुत्रानिवौरसान्

He was always devotedly worshipped by them in thought, words and deeds. In thought, words and deeds, he devotedly protected them like sons.

मन, वचन और कर्म से वे सदैव भक्तिपूर्वक उनकी पूजा करते थे। मन, वचन और कर्म से उन्होंने निष्ठापूर्वक पुत्रों की भाँति उनकी रक्षा की।

पिबन्तोऽसृग्वसास्त्वन्ये क्रुद्धा ब्रह्मद्विषां सदा चतुर्विंशात्मकं सोमं ये पिबन्ति च नित्यदा

There are other angry ones who always drank the blood and fat of haters of the brāhman. They always drank somā, which has four kinds of taste.

ऐसे अन्य क्रोधी लोग भी हैं जो हमेशा ब्राह्मणों से नफरत करने वालों का खून और चर्बी पीते हैं। वे हमेशा सोम पीते थे, जिसके चार प्रकार के स्वाद होते हैं।

श्रुतेन ब्रह्मचर्येण तपसा च दमेन च ये समाराध्य शूलाङ्कं भवसायुज्यमागताः

They worshipped the wielder of the trident through learning, brahmacarya, austerities and control and obtained Bhāva's presence.

उन्होंने विद्या, ब्रह्मचर्य, तपस्या और नियंत्रण के माध्यम से त्रिशूलधारी की पूजा की और भाव की उपस्थिति प्राप्त की।

यैरात्मभूतैर्भगवान्पार्वत्या च महेश्वरः सह भूतगणान्भुङ्क्ते भूतभव्यभवत्प्रभुः

The illustrious Māheśvara, with Pārvatī, oversees the past, the present and the future. With the large number of demons, the illustrious lord enjoys the past, the present and the future.

महिमामय महेश्वर, पार्वती के साथ, अतीत, वर्तमान और भविष्य की देखरेख करते हैं। बड़ी संख्या में राक्षसों के साथ, शानदार भगवान अतीत, वर्तमान और भविष्य का आनंद लेते हैं।

नानाविचित्रहसितक्ष्वेडितोत्क्रुष्टगर्जितैः संनादयन्तस्ते विश्वमश्वत्थामानमभ्ययुः

They laughed in many kinds of ways. They slapped their arms and roared loudly. They played musical instruments. All this made the universe resound.

वे अनेक प्रकार से हँसे। उन्होंने अपनी भुजाएँ थपथपायीं और जोर से दहाड़ने लगे। उन्होंने संगीत वाद्ययंत्र बजाया। इस सबने ब्रह्माण्ड को गुंजायमान कर दिया।

संस्तुवन्तो महादेवं भाः कुर्वाणाः सुवर्चसः विवर्धयिषवो द्रौणेर्महिमानं महात्मनः

Those extremely radiant ones praised Mahādeva and approached Droṇa's great-souled son, increasing his glory.

उन अत्यंत तेजस्वी लोगों ने महादेव की स्तुति की और द्रोण के महाबली पुत्र के पास जाकर उनकी महिमा बढ़ाई।

जिज्ञासमानास्तत्तेजः सौप्तिकं च दिदृक्षवः भीमोग्रपरिघालातशूलपट्टिशपाणयः घोररूपाः समाजग्मुर्भूतसंघाः समन्ततः

They wished to test his energy and witness the carnage in the night. They had terrible and fierce clubs, tridents and swords in their hands. Those large numbers of demons were terrible in form and approached from every direction.

वे उसकी ऊर्जा का परीक्षण करना चाहते थे और रात में नरसंहार देखना चाहते थे। उनके हाथों में भयानक एवं भयंकर लाठियाँ, त्रिशूल तथा तलवारें थीं। उन बड़ी संख्या में राक्षसों का रूप भयानक था और वे हर दिशा से आ रहे थे।

जनयेयुर्भयं ये स्म त्रैलोक्यस्यापि दर्शनात् तान्प्रेक्षमाणोऽपि व्यथां न चकार महाबलः

On seeing them, fear was generated in the three worlds. However, on seeing them, the immensely strong one wasn't distressed.

उन्हें देखकर तीनों लोकों में भय उत्पन्न हो गया। हालाँकि, उन्हें देखकर, बेहद मजबूत व्यक्ति व्यथित नहीं हुआ।

अथ द्रौणिर्धनुष्पाणिर्बद्धगोधाङ्गुलित्रवान् स्वयमेवात्मनात्मानमुपहारमुपाहरत्

Droṇa's son had a bow in his hand. There were guards made from the skins of lizards on his fingers. He offered himself as a sacrifice to the one to whom sacrifices were offered.

द्रोण के पुत्र के हाथ में धनुष था। उसकी उंगलियों पर छिपकलियों की खाल से बने गार्ड बने हुए थे. उसने अपने आप को उस व्यक्ति के सामने बलिदान के रूप में पेश किया जिसके लिए बलिदान चढ़ाए गए थे।

धनूंषि समिधस्तत्र पवित्राणि शिताः शराः हविरात्मवतश्चात्मा तस्मिन्भारत कर्मणि

Bows and arrows were the sacred kindling there. O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! In that act of sacrifice, his own self was the oblation.

धनुष और बाण वहां की पवित्र अग्नि थे। हे भरत वंश के वंशज! बलिदान के उस कार्य में, उसका अपना ही आहुति था।

ततः सौम्येन मन्त्रेण द्रोणपुत्रः प्रतापवान् उपहारं महामन्युरथात्मानमुपाहरत्

Droṇa's powerful son used mantra-s of pacification. In great anger, he offered himself as a sacrifice to the one to whom sacrifices are offered.

द्रोण के शक्तिशाली पुत्र ने शांति के लिए मंत्रों का प्रयोग किया। अत्यधिक क्रोध में उसने स्वयं को उस व्यक्ति के सामने बलिदान के रूप में प्रस्तुत कर दिया जिसके लिए बलिदान चढ़ाए जाते हैं।

तं रुद्रं रौद्रकर्माणं रौद्रैः कर्मभिरच्युतम् अभिष्टुत्य महात्मानमित्युवाच कृताञ्जलिः

The undecaying Rudra is the performer of terrible deeds. Having performed this terrible deed, he joined his hands in salutation. Worshipping the great-souled one, he said,

अविनाशी रुद्र भयानक कर्मों को करने वाला है। यह भयानक कार्य करके उसने हाथ जोड़ कर प्रणाम किया। उन्होंने उस महान आत्मा की पूजा करते हुए कहा,

इममात्मानमद्याहं जातमाङ्गिरसे कुले अग्नौ जुहोमि भगवन्प्रतिगृह्णीष्व मां बलिम्

"I have been born in the lineage of Āṅgirasa. I am offering myself as a sacrifice. O illustrious one! I am offering myself as an oblation into the fire. Please accept me as a sacrifice.

"मैं अंगिरस के वंश में पैदा हुआ हूं। मैं खुद को बलिदान के रूप में पेश कर रहा हूं। हे महान! मैं खुद को अग्नि में आहुति के रूप में पेश कर रहा हूं। कृपया मुझे बलिदान के रूप में स्वीकार करें।

भवद्भक्त्या महादेव परमेण समाधिना अस्यामापदि विश्वात्मन्नुपाकुर्मि तवाग्रतः

O Mahādeva! Devotedly, I am offering myself to you, as supreme kindling. With you in front of me, I am doing this in this time of difficulty. You are the soul of the universe.

हे महादेव! भक्तिपूर्वक, मैं स्वयं को परम दयालु के रूप में आपको अर्पित कर रहा हूं। आपके सामने रहते हुए, मैं इस कठिनाई के समय में यह कर रहा हूं। आप ब्रह्मांड की आत्मा हैं.

त्वयि सर्वाणि भूतानि सर्वभूतेषु चासि वै गुणानां हि प्रधानानामेकत्वं त्वयि तिष्ठति

All beings are in you and you are in all beings. All the chief qualities are combined and vested in you. O lord! You are the refuge of all beings.

सभी प्राणी आपमें हैं और आप सभी प्राणियों में हैं। सभी प्रमुख गुण संयुक्त होकर आपमें निहित हैं। हे भगवान! आप समस्त प्राणियों के आश्रय हैं।

सर्वभूताशय विभो हविर्भूतमुपस्थितम् प्रतिगृहाण मां देव यद्यशक्याः परे मया

I am offering myself as an oblation to you. O god! Accept me, since I am unable to defeat the enemy."

मैं स्वयं को तुम्हें अर्पण कर रहा हूं। रब्बा बे! मुझे स्वीकार करो, क्योंकि मैं शत्रु को परास्त करने में असमर्थ हूँ।"

इत्युक्त्वा द्रौणिरास्थाय तां वेदीं दीप्तपावकाम् संत्यक्तात्मा समारुह्य कृष्णवर्त्मन्युपाविशत्

Having spoken these words, Droṇa's son ascended the altar, into the blazing fire. Overcome by anger, he controlled his soul and entered the one with the black trails.

ये शब्द कहकर, द्रोण का पुत्र वेदी पर चढ़ गया, धधकती आग में। क्रोध के वशीभूत होकर, उसने अपनी आत्मा को नियंत्रित किया और काली पगडंडियों वाले स्थान में प्रवेश किया।

तमूर्ध्वबाहुं निश्चेष्टं दृष्ट्वा हविरुपस्थितम् अब्रवीद्भगवान्साक्षान्महादेवो हसन्निव

He presented himself as an oblation, with his arms raised up. On seeing him immobile, the illustrious Mahādeva himself smiled and said,

उन्होंने अपनी भुजाएँ ऊपर उठाकर स्वयं को आहुति के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया। उसे स्थिर देखकर, महान महादेव स्वयं मुस्कुराये और बोले,

सत्यशौचार्जवत्यागैस्तपसा नियमेन च क्षान्त्या भक्त्या च धृत्या च बुद्ध्या च वचसा तथा

"Through truth, purity, sincerity, yoga, austerities, rituals, endurance, devotion, fortitude, intelligence and speech,

"सत्य, पवित्रता, ईमानदारी, योग, तपस्या, अनुष्ठान, धैर्य, भक्ति, धैर्य, बुद्धि और वाणी के माध्यम से,

यथावदहमाराद्धः कृष्णेनाक्लिष्टकर्मणा तस्मादिष्टतमः कृष्णादन्यो मम न विद्यते

Kṛṣṇā, who is unblemished in his deeds, has worshipped me. Because of this, there is no one who is dearer to me than Kṛṣṇā.

कृष्ण, जो अपने कर्मों में निष्कलंक हैं, ने मेरी पूजा की है। इस कारण मेरे लिए कृष्ण से अधिक प्रिय कोई नहीं है।

कुर्वता तस्य संमानं त्वां च जिज्ञासता मया पाञ्चालाः सहसा गुप्ता मायाश्च बहुशः कृताः

I have tested you so as to show him honour. I have protected the Pāñcāla-s and exhibited many different kinds of māyā.

मैं ने उसे आदर दिखाने के लिथे तेरी परीक्षा की है। मैंने पंचालों की रक्षा की है और कई प्रकार की माया का प्रदर्शन किया है।

कृतस्तस्यैष संमानः पाञ्चालान्रक्षता मया अभिभूतास्तु कालेन नैषामद्यास्ति जीवितम्

I have protected the Pāñcāla-s and have shown him honour. However, they have been overtaken by destiny and can no longer remain alive now."

मैंने पंचालों की रक्षा की है और उनका सम्मान किया है। हालाँकि, नियति ने उन्हें धोखा दे दिया है और अब वे जीवित नहीं रह सकते।"

एवमुक्त्वा महेष्वासं भगवानात्मनस्तनुम् आविवेश ददौ चास्मै विमलं खड्गमुत्तमम्

Having spoken these words to the great archer, the illustrious one entered his body. Before entering, he gave him a supreme and sparkling sword.

महान धनुर्धर से ये वचन कहकर वह महाबली उसके शरीर में प्रविष्ट हो गया। प्रवेश करने से पहले, उसने उसे एक सर्वोच्च और चमचमाती तलवार दी।

अथाविष्टो भगवता भूयो जज्वाल तेजसा वर्ष्मवांश्चाभवद्युद्धे देवसृष्टेन तेजसा

Penetrated by that illustrious one, he again blazed in energy. Because of the energy created by the divinity, his body became powerful.

उस महिमा से प्रभावित होकर, वह फिर से ऊर्जा से जगमगा उठा। दिव्यता द्वारा निर्मित ऊर्जा के कारण उनका शरीर शक्तिशाली हो गया।

तमदृश्यानि भूतानि रक्षांसि च समाद्रवन् अभितः शत्रुशिबिरं यान्तं साक्षादिवेश्वरम्

As he attacked and advanced towards the camp of the enemy, many invisible beings protected him. He was like the lord of the gods himself.

जैसे ही उसने आक्रमण किया और शत्रु के शिविर की ओर बढ़ा, अनेक अदृश्य प्राणियों ने उसकी रक्षा की। वह स्वयं देवताओं के स्वामी के समान थे।
