वैशंपायन उवाच ततस्ते भरतश्रेष्ठाः समाजग्मुः परस्परम् विगतक्रोधमात्सर्याः सर्वे विगतकल्मषाः

Vaishampayana said: Then, O best of the Bharatas, they all came together, free from anger and jealousy, all free from sin.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: तब, हे भरतश्रेष्ठ, वे सभी क्रोध और ईर्ष्या से मुक्त होकर, पाप से मुक्त होकर एक साथ आए।

विधिं परममास्थाय ब्रह्मर्षिविहितं शुभम् संप्रीतमनसः सर्वे देवलोक इवामराः

Having resorted to the supreme method prescribed by the Brahma-rshis, All of them with contented minds, like the gods in the world of the gods,

ब्रह्म-ऋषियों द्वारा बताई गई सर्वोच्च विधि का सहारा लेकर, वे सभी संतुष्ट मन वाले, देवताओं की दुनिया में देवताओं की तरह,

पुत्रः पित्रा च मात्रा च भार्या च पतिना सह भ्राता भ्रात्रा सखा चैव सख्या राजन्समागताः

Son with father and mother, wife with husband, Brother with brother, friend with friend, O king, have come together.

पुत्र माता-पिता के साथ, पत्नी पति के साथ, भाई भाई के साथ, मित्र मित्र के साथ, हे राजा, एक साथ आये हैं।

पाण्डवास्तु महेष्वासं कर्णं सौभद्रमेव च संप्रहर्षात्समाजग्मुर्द्रौपदेयांश्च सर्वशः

The Pandavas, the great archers, and Saubhādra and all the sons of Drāupadi, out of joy, approached Karna.

महान धनुर्धर पांडव, सौभद्र और द्रौपदी के सभी पुत्र खुशी के मारे कर्ण के पास पहुंचे।

ततस्ते प्रीयमाणा वै कर्णेन सह पाण्डवाः समेत्य पृथिवीपालाः सौहृदेऽवस्थिताभवन्

Then the Pandavas, delighted, together with Karna, having met the kings of the earth, remained in friendship.

तब पाण्डव प्रसन्न होकर कर्ण सहित पृथ्वी के राजाओं से मिलकर मित्रता में लगे रहे।

ऋषिप्रसादात्तेऽन्ये च क्षत्रिया नष्टमन्यवः असौहृदं परित्यज्य सौहृदे पर्यवस्थिताः

By the grace of the sages, they and other Kshatriyas, free from enmity, Abandoning ill-will, have resorted to friendship.

ऋषियों की कृपा से उन्होंने तथा अन्य क्षत्रियों ने शत्रुता से मुक्त होकर, द्वेष छोड़कर मित्रता का मार्ग अपनाया है।

एवं समागताः सर्वे गुरुभिर्बान्धवैस्तथा पुत्रैश्च पुरुषव्याघ्राः कुरवोऽन्ये च मानवाः

Thus all the Kurus and other men, the tigers among men, assembled with their preceptors and relatives and sons.

इस प्रकार सभी कौरव और अन्य पुरुष, मनुष्यों में शेर, अपने गुरुओं, रिश्तेदारों और पुत्रों के साथ इकट्ठे हुए।

तां रात्रिमेकां कृत्स्नां ते विहृत्य प्रीतमानसाः मेनिरे परितोषेण नृपाः स्वर्गसदो यथा

Having spent that entire night in great delight, those kings considered themselves to be in heaven, satisfied with their own satisfaction.

उस सारी रात को बड़े आनन्द से बिताकर उन राजाओं ने अपने को स्वर्ग में ही तृप्त समझा।

नात्र शोको भयं त्रासो नारतिर्नायशोऽभवत् परस्परं समागम्य योधानां भरतर्षभ

There was no grief, fear, terror, sorrow or shame. O bull among the Bharata lineage, the warriors came together and said to each other,

कोई शोक, भय, आतंक, शोक या लज्जा नहीं थी। हे भरत वंश के बैल, योद्धा एक साथ आए और एक दूसरे से कहा,

समागतास्ताः पितृभिर्भ्रातृभिः पतिभिः सुतैः मुदं परमिकां प्राप्य नार्यो दुःखमथात्यजन्

Having come together with their fathers, brothers, husbands, and sons, the women attained the highest joy and abandoned their sorrow.

अपने पिता, भाइयों, पतियों और पुत्रों के साथ आकर, महिलाओं ने सर्वोच्च आनंद प्राप्त किया और अपने दुःख को त्याग दिया।

एकां रात्रिं विहृत्यैवं ते वीरास्ताश्च योषितः आमन्त्र्यान्योन्यमाश्लिष्य ततो जग्मुर्यथागतम्

Having spent one night in this way, those heroes and those women having greeted each other and embraced, then went as they had come.

इस प्रकार एक रात व्यतीत करके वे वीर और वे स्त्रियाँ एक-दूसरे को नमस्कार करके गले मिले, फिर जैसे आये थे वैसे ही चले गये।

ततो विसर्जयामास लोकांस्तान्मुनिपुंगवः क्षणेनान्तर्हिताश्चैव प्रेक्षतामेव तेऽभवन्

Then the best of sages dismissed those people. And they disappeared in an instant, even as they were watching.

तब श्रेष्ठ ऋषियों ने उन लोगों को बर्खास्त कर दिया। और वे देखते ही देखते एक क्षण में गायब हो गये।

अवगाह्य महात्मानः पुण्यां त्रिपथगां नदीम् सरथाः सध्वजाश्चैव स्वानि स्थानानि भेजिरे

Having bathed in the sacred river Tripathga, the great souls went to their respective places, with chariots and flags.

पवित्र त्रिपथगा नदी में स्नान करके वे महात्मागण रथों तथा ध्वजों के साथ अपने-अपने स्थानों को चले गये।

देवलोकं ययुः केचित्केचिद्ब्रह्मसदस्तथा केचिच्च वारुणं लोकं केचित्कौबेरमाप्नुवन्

Some went to the world of the gods, some to the abode of Brahma, Some attained the world of Varuna, some the world of Kubera.

कुछ देवताओं के लोक में चले गए, कुछ ब्रह्मा के लोक में, कुछ ने वरुण लोक को प्राप्त किया, कुछ ने कुबेर के लोक को प्राप्त किया।

तथा वैवस्वतं लोकं केचिच्चैवाप्नुवन्नृपाः राक्षसानां पिशाचानां केचिच्चाप्युत्तरान्कुरून्

Some of them attain the world of Yama, and some of them attain the world of Vaivasvata. Some of them become demons and ghosts, and some of them go to the northern Kurus.

उनमें से कुछ यम लोक को प्राप्त करते हैं, और कुछ वैवस्वत लोक को प्राप्त करते हैं। उनमें से कुछ राक्षस और भूत बन जाते हैं और कुछ उत्तरी कौरवों के पास चले जाते हैं।

विचित्रगतयः सर्वे या अवाप्यामरैः सह आजग्मुस्ते महात्मानः सवाहाः सपदानुगाः

All of them with various ways of going, who had not been attained by the gods, Those great souls, with their chariots and foot-soldiers, came.

वे सभी भिन्न-भिन्न मार्गों से जाने वाले थे, जिन्हें देवताओं ने प्राप्त नहीं किया था, वे सभी महात्मा अपने रथों और पैदल सैनिकों के साथ आये।

गतेषु तेषु सर्वेषु सलिलस्थो महामुनिः धर्मशीलो महातेजाः कुरूणां हितकृत्सदा ततः प्रोवाच ताः सर्वाः क्षत्रिया निहतेश्वराः

When all of them had gone, the great sage, dwelling in the water, The virtuous Dharmaśīla, of great splendor, always acting for the welfare of the Kurus, Then he spoke to all those Kshatriyas, whose lords were slain,

जब वे सभी चले गए, तो जल में निवास करने वाले, धर्मशील धर्मशील, महान वैभवशाली, सदैव कौरवों के कल्याण के लिए कार्य करने वाले महान ऋषि, तब उन्होंने उन सभी क्षत्रियों से बात की, जिनके स्वामी मारे गए थे,

या याः पतिकृताँल्लोकानिच्छन्ति परमस्त्रियः ता जाह्नवीजलं क्षिप्रमवगाहन्त्वतन्द्रिताः

Those women who desire to attain the worlds created by their husbands should quickly and without hesitation enter the waters of the Ganges.

जो स्त्रियाँ अपने पति द्वारा रचित लोक को प्राप्त करने की इच्छा रखती हैं, उन्हें शीघ्र और बिना किसी हिचकिचाहट के गंगा के पानी में प्रवेश करना चाहिए।

ततस्तस्य वचः श्रुत्वा श्रद्दधाना वराङ्गनाः श्वशुरं समनुज्ञाप्य विविशुर्जाह्नवीजलम्

Then, having heard his words, the faithful women, having obtained permission from their father-in-law, entered the waters of the Ganges.

तब उनकी बातें सुनकर पतिव्रता स्त्रियाँ अपने ससुर से अनुमति लेकर गंगा जल में प्रवेश कर गईं।

विमुक्ता मानुषैर्देहैस्ततस्ता भर्तृभिः सह समाजग्मुस्तदा साध्व्यः सर्वा एव विशां पते

Freed from their human bodies, they then went together with their husbands. O lord of the people, all those virtuous women then went together.

अपने मानव शरीर से मुक्त होकर, वे फिर अपने पतियों के साथ चली गईं। हे प्रजापालन, वे सब पतिव्रता स्त्रियाँ एक साथ चलीं।

एवं क्रमेण सर्वास्ताः शीलवत्यः कुलस्त्रियः प्रविश्य तोयं निर्मुक्ता जग्मुर्भर्तृसलोकताम्

In this way, all those women of good character entered the water and were released, and went to the world of their husbands.

इस प्रकार वे सभी सच्चरित्र स्त्रियाँ जल में प्रवेश कर मुक्त हो गईं और अपने पतियों के लोक में चली गईं।

दिव्यरूपसमायुक्ता दिव्याभरणभूषिताः दिव्यमाल्याम्बरधरा यथासां पतयस्तथा

Endowed with divine forms, adorned with divine ornaments, Wearing divine garlands and garments, just like their husbands.

दिव्य रूपों से संपन्न, दिव्य आभूषणों से सुशोभित, अपने पतियों के समान दिव्य माला और वस्त्र धारण करने वाली।

ताः शीलसत्त्वसंपन्ना वितमस्का गतक्लमाः सर्वाः सर्वगुणैर्युक्ताः स्वं स्वं स्थानं प्रपेदिरे

They were endowed with morality and courage, free from darkness and fatigue, All of them endowed with all good qualities, went to their respective places.

वे सदाचार और साहस से सम्पन्न, अन्धकार और थकान से मुक्त, सभी अच्छे गुणों से सम्पन्न, अपने-अपने स्थान को चले गये।

यस्य यस्य च यः कामस्तस्मिन्कालेऽभवत्तदा तं तं विसृष्टवान्व्यासो वरदो धर्मवत्सलः

At that time, Vyasa, the bestower of boons, who was affectionate towards Dharma, granted to each one whatever he desired.

उस समय, वरदान देने वाले, व्यास, जो धर्म के प्रति स्नेही थे, प्रत्येक को वह सब दे देते थे जो वह चाहता था।

तच्छ्रुत्वा नरदेवानां पुनरागमनं नराः जहृषुर्मुदिताश्चासन्नन्यदेहगता अपि

Hearing of the return of the kings of men, the people rejoiced and were glad, even those who had gone to other bodies.

मनुष्यों के राजाओं की वापसी के बारे में सुनकर, लोग आनन्दित हुए और प्रसन्न हुए, यहाँ तक कि वे भी जो दूसरे शरीरों में चले गए थे।

प्रियैः समागमं तेषां य इमं शृणुयान्नरः प्रियाणि लभते नित्यमिह च प्रेत्य चैव ह

One who hears this will be reunited with his loved ones. One who hears this will always obtain what is dear to him, both in this world and the next.

जो इसे सुनेगा वह अपने प्रियजनों से पुनः मिल जायेगा। जो इसे सुनता है उसे इस लोक में तथा परलोक में सदैव वही प्राप्त होता है जो उसे प्रिय है।

इष्टबान्धवसंयोगमनायासमनामयम् य इमं श्रावयेद्विद्वान्संसिद्धिं प्राप्नुयात्पराम्

The union with desired relatives, the absence of fatigue, the absence of disease. He who would cause this to be heard by the learned would attain the highest accomplishment.

इच्छित संबंधियों से मिलन, थकान का अभाव, रोग का अभाव। जो इसे विद्वानों को सुनाएगा, उसे परम सिद्धि प्राप्त होगी।

स्वाध्याययुक्ताः पुरुषाः क्रियायुक्ताश्च भारत अध्यात्मयोगयुक्ताश्च धृतिमन्तश्च मानवाः श्रुत्वा पर्व त्विदं नित्यमवाप्स्यन्ति परां गतिम्

Those who are devoted to study, to action, to yoga, and to self-control, O descendant of Bharata, and those who are steadfast, having heard this Parva, will attain the highest goal.

हे भारत के वंशज, जो लोग अध्ययन, कर्म, योग और आत्म-नियंत्रण में समर्पित हैं, और जो दृढ़ हैं, इस पर्व को सुनकर सर्वोच्च लक्ष्य प्राप्त करेंगे।
