वैशंपायन उवाच स तैः सह नरव्याघ्रैर्भ्रातृभिर्भरतर्षभ राजा रुचिरपद्माक्षैरासां चक्रे तदाश्रमे

Vaishampayana said: O tiger among men, with those brothers, bull of the Bharata lineage, The king, with eyes like beautiful lotuses, made his abode in that hermitage.

कुन्तीसमीपे पुरुषोत्तमौ तु; यमाविमौ विष्णुमहेन्द्रकल्पौ मनुष्यलोके सकले समोऽस्ति; ययोर्न रूपे न बले न शीले

कुंती के समीप ये दोनों विष्णु और इंद्र के समान हैं। संपूर्ण मानव जगत में रूप, बल और चरित्र में उनके समान कोई नहीं है।

इयं पुनः पद्मदलायताक्षी; मध्यं वयः किंचिदिव स्पृशन्ती नीलोत्पलाभा पुरदेवतेव; कृष्णा स्थिता मूर्तिमतीव लक्ष्मीः

एता यथामुख्यमुदाहृता वो; ब्राह्मण्यभावादृजुबुद्धिसत्त्वाः सर्वा भवद्भिः परिपृच्छ्यमाना; नरेन्द्रपत्न्यः सुविशुद्धसत्त्वाः

एवं स राजा कुरुवृद्धवर्यः; समागतस्तैर्नरदेवपुत्रैः पप्रच्छ सर्वान्कुशलं तदानीं; गतेषु सर्वेष्वथ तापसेषु

योधेषु चाप्याश्रममण्डलं तं; मुक्त्वा निविष्टेषु विमुच्य पत्रम् स्त्रीवृद्धबाले च सुसंनिविष्टे; यथार्हतः कुशलं पर्यपृच्छत्

And in the warriors, too, he entered the circle of the hermitage, leaving it to those who were settled, and releasing the leaves. And to the women, the aged, and the children who were well settled, he asked about their welfare according to their due.
