वैशंपायन उवाच ततस्तस्मिन्मुनिश्रेष्ठा राजानं द्रष्टुमभ्ययुः नारदः पर्वतश्चैव देवलश्च महातपाः

Vaishmapayana said: Then, O best of sages, they approached to see the king: Narada, Parvata, and Devavala, the greatly ascetic.

वैश्मापायन ने कहा: फिर, हे ऋषियों में श्रेष्ठ, वे राजा से मिलने के लिए पहुंचे: नारद, पर्वत, और परम तपस्वी देववाला।

द्वैपायनः सशिष्यश्च सिद्धाश्चान्ये मनीषिणः शतयूपश्च राजर्षिर्वृद्धः परमधार्मिकः

Dvaipāyana with his disciples, and other sages, and Shatayupa, the royal sage, old and extremely righteous,

द्वैपायन अपने शिष्यों और अन्य ऋषियों के साथ, और शतयुप, राज ऋषि, वृद्ध और अत्यंत धर्मात्मा,

तेषां कुन्ती महाराज पूजां चक्रे यथाविधि ते चापि तुतुषुस्तस्यास्तापसाः परिचर्यया

O great king, Kunti worshipped them in accordance with the prescribed rites. And those ascetics were pleased with her service.

हे राजन, कुन्ती ने विधिपूर्वक उनकी पूजा की। और वे तपस्वी उसकी सेवा से प्रसन्न हुए।

तत्र धर्म्याः कथास्तात चक्रुस्ते परमर्षयः रमयन्तो महात्मानं धृतराष्ट्रं जनाधिपम्

There, the great sages spoke Dharma-related stories, delighting the great-souled King Dhritarashtra, the lord of men.

वहाँ महर्षियों ने धर्म-सम्बन्धी कहानियाँ सुनाकर मनुष्यों के स्वामी महाबली राजा धृतराष्ट्र को प्रसन्न किया।

कथान्तरे तु कस्मिंश्चिद्देवर्षिर्नारदस्तदा कथामिमामकथयत्सर्वप्रत्यक्षदर्शिवान्

In another account, at one time, the celestial sage Nārada related this story, being one who saw everything directly.

एक अन्य वृत्तांत में, एक समय में, दिव्य ऋषि नारद ने इस कहानी को सुनाया था, जो हर चीज को सीधे देखते थे।

पुरा प्रजापतिसमो राजासीदकुतोभयः सहस्रचित्य इत्युक्तः शतयूपपितामहः

In the past, there was a king who was like Prajapati, free from fear, Known as Sahasracitti, the grandfather of Shatayupa.

पूर्वकाल में, एक राजा थे जो प्रजापति के समान भय से मुक्त थे, सहस्रचित्ति के नाम से जाने जाते थे, जो शतयुप के दादा थे।

स पुत्रे राज्यमासज्य ज्येष्ठे परमधार्मिके सहस्रचित्यो धर्मात्मा प्रविवेश वनं नृपः

Having entrusted the kingdom to his eldest son, who was extremely righteous, King Sahasrānīka, with a righteous soul, entered the forest.

अपने ज्येष्ठ पुत्र, जो अत्यंत धर्मात्मा था, को राज्य सौंपकर धर्मात्मा राजा सहस्राणीक वन में चले गये।

स गत्वा तपसः पारं दीप्तस्य स नराधिपः पुरंदरस्य संस्थानं प्रतिपेदे महामनाः

Having gone to the other shore of the blazing austerities, that great-minded king took up the form of Purandara.

तेजस्वी तपस्‍या के दूसरे तट पर जाकर उस महामनस्‍वी राजा ने पुरंदर का रूप धारण कर लिया।

दृष्टपूर्वः स बहुशो राजन्संपतता मया महेन्द्रसदने राजा तपसा दग्धकिल्बिषः

O king, I have seen him many times as he flew by. In the abode of the great Indra, the king, his sins burned away by austerities,

हे राजा, मैंने उसे उड़ते हुए कई बार देखा है। महान इंद्र के निवास में, राजा, तपस्या से उनके पाप जल गए,

तथा शैलालयो राजा भगदत्तपितामहः तपोबलेनैव नृपो महेन्द्रसदनं गतः

Similarly, King Śailālaya, the grandfather of Bhagadatta, by the power of austerities, went to the abode of Mahendra.

इसी प्रकार, भगदत्त के दादा राजा शैलालय, तपस्या के बल से, महेंद्र के निवास पर गए।

तथा पृषध्रो नामासीद्राजा वज्रधरोपमः स चापि तपसा लेभे नाकपृष्ठमितो नृपः

And there was a king named Priṣadhra, who was like the holder of the thunderbolt. And he too, by means of asceticism, attained the top of heaven from here, O king.

और पृषध्र नाम का एक राजा था, जो वज्र धारक के समान था। और हे राजा, उसने भी तपस्या के माध्यम से यहीं से स्वर्ग की चोटी प्राप्त की।

अस्मिन्नरण्ये नृपते मान्धातुरपि चात्मजः पुरुकुत्सो नृपः सिद्धिं महतीं समवाप्तवान्

In this forest, the son of King Mandhata, Purukutsa, the king, attained great success.

इस वन में राजा मांधाता के पुत्र राजा पुरुकुत्स ने बड़ी सफलता प्राप्त की।

भार्या समभवद्यस्य नर्मदा सरितां वरा सोऽस्मिन्नरण्ये नृपतिस्तपस्तप्त्वा दिवं गतः

His wife was Narmada, the best of rivers. The king, having performed austerities in this forest, went to heaven.

उनकी पत्नी नदियों में सर्वोत्तम नर्मदा थी। राजा इसी वन में तपस्या करके स्वर्ग चला गया।

शशलोमा च नामासीद्राजा परमधार्मिकः स चाप्यस्मिन्वने तप्त्वा तपो दिवमवाप्तवान्

And there was a king named Śaśaloman, who was extremely righteous. And he, having practiced austerities in this forest, attained heaven.

और शशलोमन नाम का एक राजा था, जो अत्यंत धर्मात्मा था। और उन्होंने इसी वन में तपस्या करके स्वर्ग प्राप्त किया।

द्वैपायनप्रसादाच्च त्वमपीदं तपोवनम् राजन्नवाप्य दुष्प्रापां सिद्धिमग्र्यां गमिष्यसि

And by the grace of Dvaipāyana, you too, O king, will attain this hermitage and, having attained the highest and most difficult to attain perfection, will go to the highest.

और द्वैपायन की कृपा से, हे राजन, आप भी इस आश्रम को प्राप्त करेंगे और उच्चतम और सबसे कठिन पूर्णता को प्राप्त करके उच्चतम स्तर पर जायेंगे।

त्वं चापि राजशार्दूल तपसोऽन्ते श्रिया वृतः गान्धारीसहितो गन्ता गतिं तेषां महात्मनाम्

O best of kings, you too, at the end of your austerities, will be surrounded by glory. Together with Gandhari, you will go to the destination of those great souls.

हे राजाओं में श्रेष्ठ, आप भी अपनी तपस्या के अंत में महिमा से घिरे होंगे। तुम गांधारी के साथ मिलकर उन महात्माओं के गंतव्य तक जाओगे।

पाण्डुः स्मरति नित्यं च बलहन्तुः समीपतः त्वां सदैव महीपाल स त्वां श्रेयसि योक्ष्यति

Pandu always remembers the one who killed his strength. O king of the earth, he will always join you with what is best for you.

पाण्डु सदैव अपने बल को मारने वाले को याद करते हैं। हे पृथ्वी के राजा, वह हमेशा आपके साथ वही करेगा जो आपके लिए सबसे अच्छा होगा।

तव शुश्रूषया चैव गान्धार्याश्च यशस्विनी भर्तुः सलोकतां कुन्ती गमिष्यति वधूस्तव

By serving you and the glorious Gandhari, Kunti, your daughter-in-law, will attain the same world as her husband.

आपकी तथा महिमामयी गांधारी की सेवा करने से आपकी पुत्रवधू कुंती भी अपने पति के समान ही लोक प्राप्त करेगी।

युधिष्ठिरस्य जननी स हि धर्मः सनातनः वयमेतत्प्रपश्यामो नृपते दिव्यचक्षुषा

He is the eternal Dharma, the mother of Yudhishthira. We see this with our divine vision, O king.

वह शाश्वत धर्मा, युधिष्ठिर की माता हैं। हे राजन, हम इसे अपनी दिव्य दृष्टि से देखते हैं।

प्रवेक्ष्यति महात्मानं विदुरश्च युधिष्ठिरम् संजयस्त्वदनुध्यानात्पूतः स्वर्गमवाप्स्यति

Vidura will enter the great-souled Yudhishthira. Sanjaya, through his devotion to you, will attain heaven.

विदुर महाबली युधिष्ठिर में प्रवेश करेंगे। आपकी भक्ति से संजय को स्वर्ग की प्राप्ति होगी।

एतच्छ्रुत्वा कौरवेन्द्रो महात्मा; सहैव पत्न्या प्रीतिमान्प्रत्यगृह्णात् विद्वान्वाक्यं नारदस्य प्रशस्य; चक्रे पूजां चातुलां नारदाय

Hearing this, the great-souled Indra of the Kurus, together with his wife, joyfully accepted it. The wise one praised Narada's words and performed incomparable worship to Narada.

यह सुनकर कौरवों के महाबली इन्द्र ने अपनी पत्नी सहित इसे सहर्ष स्वीकार कर लिया। मुनि ने नारद की बातों की प्रशंसा की और नारद की अतुलनीय पूजा की।

तथा सर्वे नारदं विप्रसंघाः; संपूजयामासुरतीव राजन् राज्ञः प्रीत्या धृतराष्ट्रस्य ते वै; पुनः पुनः समहृष्टास्तदानीम्

And all the groups of Brahmins worshipped Narada, O King. And they were greatly delighted again and again, O Dhritarashtra, with the King's affection.

और हे राजा, ब्राह्मणों के सभी समूहों ने नारद की पूजा की। और हे धृतराष्ट्र, राजा के स्नेह से वे बार-बार बहुत प्रसन्न हुए।
