वैशंपायन उवाच ततो निशायां प्राप्तायां कृतसायाह्निकक्रियाः व्यासमभ्यगमन्सर्वे ये तत्रासन्समागताः

Vaishampayana said: When the night arrived, having performed the evening rites, all those who had gathered there approached Vyasa.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: जब रात हुई, तो सन्ध्या का अनुष्ठान करने के बाद, जो लोग वहां एकत्र हुए थे, वे व्यास के पास पहुंचे।

धृतराष्ट्रस्तु धर्मात्मा पाण्डवैः सहितस्तदा शुचिरेकमनाः सार्धमृषिभिस्तैरुपाविशत्

Dhritarashtra, the righteous one, together with the Pandavas, sat down with a pure mind, together with those sages.

पाण्डवों सहित धर्मात्मा धृतराष्ट्र उन ऋषियों के साथ शुद्ध मन से बैठ गये।

गान्धार्या सह नार्यस्तु सहिताः समुपाविशन् पौरजानपदश्चापि जनः सर्वो यथावयः

The women, together with Gandhari, sat down. And all the citizens and country people, according to their age,

गांधारी सहित सभी स्त्रियाँ बैठ गईं। और सब नगरवासी और देशवासी अपनी आयु के अनुसार,

ततो व्यासो महातेजाः पुण्यं भागीरथीजलम् अवगाह्याजुहावाथ सर्वाँल्लोकान्महामुनिः

Then the very radiant Vyasa, having entered the sacred waters of the Ganges, invoked all the worlds, the great sage.

तब अत्यंत तेजस्वी व्यास ने गंगा के पवित्र जल में प्रवेश करके सभी लोकों, महान ऋषि का आह्वान किया।

पाण्डवानां च ये योधाः कौरवाणां च सर्वशः राजानश्च महाभागा नानादेशनिवासिनः

All the warriors of the Pandavas and the Kauravas, and the kings of great fortune from various countries,

पांडवों और कौरवों के सभी योद्धा और विभिन्न देशों के महान भाग्य वाले राजा,

ततः सुतुमुलः शब्दो जलान्तर्जनमेजय प्रादुरासीद्यथा पूर्वं कुरुपाण्डवसेनयोः

Then, O Janamejaya, a great tumult arose in the water, as it had before between the armies of the Kurus and the Pandavas.

तब, हे जनमेजय, जल में एक बड़ा कोलाहल उत्पन्न हो गया, जैसा पहले कौरवों और पांडवों की सेनाओं के बीच हुआ था।

ततस्ते पार्थिवाः सर्वे भीष्मद्रोणपुरोगमाः ससैन्याः सलिलात्तस्मात्समुत्तस्थुः सहस्रशः

Then all those kings, led by Bhishma and Drona, together with their armies, rose up from the water in thousands.

तब भीष्म और द्रोण के नेतृत्व में वे सभी राजा अपनी सेनाओं सहित हजारों की संख्या में जल से ऊपर आ गये।

विराटद्रुपदौ चोभौ सपुत्रौ सहसैनिकौ द्रौपदेयाश्च सौभद्रो राक्षसश्च घटोत्कचः

Virāta and Drupada, both with their sons and armies, and the sons of Drāupadi, and Subhādra's son, and the demon Ghatotkacha,

विराट और द्रुपद, दोनों अपने पुत्रों और सेनाओं के साथ, और द्रौपदी के पुत्र, और सुभद्रा के पुत्र, और राक्षस घटोत्कच,

कर्णदुर्योधनौ चोभौ शकुनिश्च महारथः दुःशासनादयश्चैव धार्तराष्ट्रा महारथाः

Karna, Duryodhana, both of them, and Shakuni the great chariot-warrior, and Duhshasana and the other great chariot-warriors of the sons of Dhritarashtra,

कर्ण, दुर्योधन, वे दोनों, और महान रथ-योद्धा शकुनि, और दु:शासन और धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्रों के अन्य महान रथ-योद्धा,

जारासंधिर्भगदत्तो जलसंधश्च पार्थिवः भूरिश्रवाः शलः शल्यो वृषसेनश्च सानुजः

Jarasandha, Bhagadatta, Jalasandha, the king, Bhurishrava, Shala, Shalya, Vrishasena with his brother,

जरासंध, भगदत्त, जलसंध, राजा, भूरिश्रवा, शल, शल्य, वृषसेन अपने भाई के साथ,

लक्ष्मणो राजपुत्रश्च धृष्टद्युम्नस्य चात्मजाः शिखण्डिपुत्राः सर्वे च धृष्टकेतुश्च सानुजः

The sons of the prince Lakshmana, the sons of Dhrishtadyumna, all the sons of Shikhandi, and Dhrishtaketu with his younger brother,

राजकुमार लक्ष्मण के पुत्र, धृष्टद्युम्न के पुत्र, शिखंडी के सभी पुत्र, और धृष्टकेतु अपने छोटे भाई के साथ,

अचलो वृषकश्चैव राक्षसश्चाप्यलायुधः बाह्लीकः सोमदत्तश्च चेकितानश्च पार्थिवः

Acala, Vrishaka, Rakshasa, Alayudha, Bahlika, Somadatta, and King Chekitana,

अचल, वृषक, राक्षस, अलायुध, बाह्लीक, सोमदत्त, और राजा चेकितान,

एते चान्ये च बहवो बहुत्वाद्ये न कीर्तिताः सर्वे भासुरदेहास्ते समुत्तस्थुर्जलात्ततः

And these and many others, because of their great number, are not mentioned here. All of them, with radiant bodies, arose from the water.

और इनका तथा कई अन्य का, उनकी बड़ी संख्या के कारण, यहां उल्लेख नहीं किया गया है। वे सभी तेजस्वी शरीर वाले जल से उत्पन्न हुए।

यस्य वीरस्य यो वेषो यो ध्वजो यच्च वाहनम् तेन तेन व्यदृश्यन्त समुपेता नराधिपाः

The kings who had come were seen in the form, banner and vehicle of the hero.

जो राजा आये थे वे वीर के स्वरूप, ध्वजा और वाहन में दिख रहे थे।

दिव्याम्बरधराः सर्वे सर्वे भ्राजिष्णुकुण्डलाः निर्वैरा निरहंकारा विगतक्रोधमन्यवः

All of them were wearing divine garments and all of them had shining earrings. They were free from enmity, free from ego, free from anger and free from jealousy.

उन सभी ने दिव्य वस्त्र धारण कर रखे थे और सभी के कानों में चमकती हुई बालियाँ थीं। वे शत्रुता से मुक्त, अहंकार से मुक्त, क्रोध से मुक्त और ईर्ष्या से मुक्त थे।

गन्धर्वैरुपगीयन्तः स्तूयमानाश्च बन्दिभिः दिव्यमाल्याम्बरधरा वृताश्चाप्सरसां गणैः

Being sung by gandharvas and praised by bards, Wearing divine garlands and garments, and surrounded by groups of apsaras,

गंधर्वों द्वारा गाए जाने वाले और भांडों द्वारा स्तुति किए जाने वाले, दिव्य माला और वस्त्र पहने हुए और अप्सराओं के समूहों से घिरे हुए,

धृतराष्ट्रस्य च तदा दिव्यं चक्षुर्नराधिप मुनिः सत्यवतीपुत्रः प्रीतः प्रादात्तपोबलात्

And at that time the sage, the son of Satyavati, pleased with the king Dhritarashtra, gave him divine sight by the power of his austerities.

और उस समय सत्यवती के पुत्र ऋषि ने अपनी तपस्या के बल से राजा धृतराष्ट्र से प्रसन्न होकर उन्हें दिव्य दृष्टि प्रदान की।

दिव्यज्ञानबलोपेता गान्धारी च यशस्विनी ददर्श पुत्रांस्तान्सर्वान्ये चान्येऽपि रणे हताः

Gandhāri, endowed with divine knowledge and power, and glorious, saw all her sons and others who were killed in battle.

दिव्य ज्ञान और शक्ति से संपन्न और गौरवशाली गांधारी ने अपने सभी पुत्रों और अन्य लोगों को देखा जो युद्ध में मारे गए थे।

तदद्भुतमचिन्त्यं च सुमहद्रोमहर्षणम् विस्मितः स जनः सर्वो ददर्शानिमिषेक्षणः

That was wonderful, inconceivable, and very great, causing the hairs to stand on end. The entire astonished people, with unblinking eyes, saw it.

वह अद्भुत, अकल्पनीय और बहुत बढ़िया था, जिससे रोंगटे खड़े हो गए। सभी चकित लोगों ने बिना पलकें झपकाए इसे देखा।

तदुत्सवमदोदग्रं हृष्टनारीनराकुलम् ददृशे बलमायान्तं चित्रं पटगतं यथा

It was filled with women and men who were intoxicated with the joy of the festival. He saw Bala coming, like a picture on a cloth.

यह महिलाओं और पुरुषों से भरा हुआ था जो त्योहार की खुशी में नशे में थे। उसने कपड़े पर बनी तस्वीर की तरह बाला को आते देखा।

धृतराष्ट्रस्तु तान्सर्वान्पश्यन्दिव्येन चक्षुषा मुमुदे भरतश्रेष्ठ प्रसादात्तस्य वै मुनेः

Dhritarashtra, seeing all of them with his divine vision, was delighted, O best of the Bharatas, by the grace of that sage.

उन ऋषियों की कृपा से धृतराष्ट्र उन सबको अपनी दिव्य दृष्टि से देखकर प्रसन्न हो गये।
