"Will Bharata the son of Kaikeyi bind us with chains or slay us? Or is he coming to kill Rama, the son of Dasaratha, who was exiled from the kingdom by his father, desirous as Bharata is to get the prosperous Ayodhya kingdom, a luxury and that which is inaccessible to another?"
भरत, कैकेयी के पुत्र, अपने पिता की अत्यंत दुर्लभ समृद्धि की इच्छा करते हुए, राम को, जिन्हें उनके पिता ने राज्य से निर्वासित कर दिया था, या तो दास बना लेंगे या मार डालेंगे।
"Rama the son of Dasaratha is my Lord and my companion too. Hence you, covered with armor, be stationed on this bank of Ganga River, desiring to advance the interest of Rama."
मेरे स्वामी दशरथपुत्र राम ही मेरे मित्र और रक्षक हैं। उनके लिए ही मैं धन और सुख की इच्छाओं को गंगा के किनारे इस अनुपम स्थान पर त्याग कर बैठी हूँ।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 84 · v6
तिष्ठन्तु सर्व दाशाः च गन्गाम् अन्वाश्रिता नदीम् |
बल युक्ता नदी रक्षा मांस मूल फल अशनाः || २-८४-७
"Let all our ferrymen guarding the river, along with the troops, eating meat roots and fruits ( in their boats), stay positioned along the River Ganga."
सभी दास गंगा नदी के किनारे रहें। बलवान नदी की रक्षा करें, जो मांस, मूल और फल खाती है।
"Let five hundred boats, each manner by a hundred youthful ferrymen, be stationed and made ready" -thus announced Guha.

Seeing him approach, Sumantra the charioteer, a majestic man who knows the rules of discipline, humbly told Bharata as follows:

Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 84 · v11
एष ज्ञाति सहस्रेण स्थपतिः परिवारितः |
कुशलो दण्डक अरण्ये वृद्धो भ्रातुः च ते सखा || २-८४-१२
"This Lord who is surrounded by a thousand of his own people, is fully acquainted with the forest of Dandaka and also an old friend of your elder brother."
यह श्लोक एक व्यक्ति का वर्णन करता है जो अपने परिवार और मित्रों से घिरा हुआ है। वह एक कुशल बढ़ई है और दंडकारण्य के जंगल में रहता है। वह तुम्हारे भाई का भी मित्र है।
Having obtained permission, Guha along with his own people, joyfully and humbly approached Bharata and spoke as follows:
भरत के पास पहुँचकर, गुह ने अपने बंधुओं से घिरे हुए और प्रसन्न होकर, आदरपूर्वक भरत से यह वचन कहा।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 84 · v15
निष्कुटः चैव देशो अयम् वन्चिताः च अपि ते वयम् |
निवेदयामः ते सर्वे स्वके दाश कुले वस || २-८४-१६
"This place is like a pleasure-grove near your house. We are your subjects and are reporting to you as such. Stay in this servant's house."
यह देश निष्कुट है और हम सब ठगे गए हैं। हम सब आपसे विनती करते हैं कि अपने दास कुल में निवास करें।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 84 · v16
अस्ति मूलम् फलम् चैव निषादैः समुपाहृतम् |
आर्द्रम् च मांसम् शुष्कम् च वन्यम् च उच्च अवचम् महत् || २-८४-१७
"Here are the roots and fruits gathered by my tribe as well as fresh and dried meat of great quality and of various kinds, and all a produce of the forest."

मैं आशा करता हूँ कि तुम्हारी आज्ञाकारी सेना आज रात यहीं ठहरेगी। कल तुम अनेक प्रकार के भोगों से संतुष्ट होकर अपनी सेना के साथ प्रस्थान करोगे।
Having spoken these excellent words to Guha; the greatlyillustrious Bharata, possessed of great splendor, said again to Guha the kingof Nishadas (as follows):
यह कहकर, वह महा तेजस्वी भरत, जो श्रीमान् थे, निषादों के राजा से फिर बोले।
?O, Guha! By which of these two routes can I go to the hermitageof Bharadvaja? This region engulfed in waters of Ganga River is not very much easy to negotiate and is difficult to cross.?
भरद्वाज के आश्रम तक मैं किस मार्ग से जाऊँ, गुह? यह स्थान बहुत घना और दुर्गम है, गंगा के किनारे का यह दलदल पार करना कठिन है।
As a fire is hidden in a hollow tree while a forest is on fire, sodid Bharata?s fire of anguish burn with in his heart.
वन में आग लगने से उत्पन्न ताप से राघव अत्यंत दुखी थे, जैसे कोई छिपा हुआ अग्नि वृक्ष को जलाता है।
Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 84 · v35
प्रस्रुतः सर्व गात्रेभ्यः स्वेदःशोक अग्नि सम्भवः।
यथा सूर्य अंशु सम्तप्तः हिमवान् प्रस्रुतः हिमम्॥ २-८५-१८
Perspiration born of fieriness of grief poured off from all hislimbs, as the snow heated by solar rays melts and flows from Himavat mountain.

Bharata, the son of Kaikeyi was pressed by the weight of thatcolossal mountain of agony consisting of rocky caverns in the shape of settledcontemplations on Rama, minerals in the shape of groans and sighs, a cluster oftrees in the shape of depressive thoughts, summits in the form of sufferingsand fatigue, countless wild beasts in the shape of swoons, herbs and bamboos inthe form of his exertions.

Thereafter, Bharata the excellent among men sighing much inmelancholy, his mind utterly confused in consequence, having obtained anextreme distress, afflicted as he was with burning fever in his breast and likea bull strayed from its herd, found no peace.
वह अत्यंत दुखी होकर गहरी साँस लेने लगा, उसका मन व्याकुल हो गया और वह मूर्छित होकर बड़ी विपत्ति में पड़ गया। हृदय के ज्वर से पीड़ित वह श्रेष्ठ नर, झुंड से बिछड़े हुए बैल की तरह, शांति प्राप्त नहीं कर सका।
