That Hanuma, with coral-coloured face, very bright, the son of wind-god, wearing a humble and feeble look, approached Seetha by stepping down from the tree and offered her his salutation by keeping his joined palms on his head and spoke the following sweet words:
हनुमान वृक्ष से उतरकर, जिनका मुख प्रवाल के समान लाल था, वे विनम्र वेश धारण किए हुए, दीन भाव से, प्रणाम करके और पास जाकर, सीता जी से मधुर वाणी में बोले। उन्होंने अपने सिर पर अंजुलि बाँध ली थी।
"O Lady with your eyes resembling lotus leaves, wearing a worn out silken cloth! O, the irreproachable one! You have stood, holding by the hand a branch of the tree who are you?"
हे सुंदर आँखों वाली, रेशमी वस्त्रों में सजी हुई, तुम वृक्ष की डाल को पकड़े हुए क्यों खड़ी हो?
"Tears of sorrow are gushing down from your eyes, as water is scattered down from two lotus-petals. Why?"
तुम्हारी आँखों से आँसू क्यों बह रहे हैं, जैसे कमल के पत्तों से पानी छलक रहा हो।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v4
सुराणाम् असुराणाम् च नाग गन्धर्व रक्षसाम् |
यक्षाणाम् किम्नराणाम् च का त्वम् भवसि शोभने || ५-३३-५
"O auspicious lady! In whom are you born-whether in celestials or in ogres or in serpent-demons or in celestial musicians or in demons or in semi-divine beings or in mythical beings?"
हे सुंदरी, तुम देवताओं, असुरों, नागों, गंधर्वों, राक्षसों, यक्षों और किन्नरों में से कौन हो?
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v5
का त्वम् भवसि रुद्राणाम् मरुताम् वा वर आनने |
वसूनाम् वा वर आरोहे देवता प्रतिभासि मे || ५-३३-६
"O lovely-faced woman! Who are you among eleven Rudras who bestow strength, or among Maruts the storm-gods or among eight Vasus the beneficent gods? O Handsome lady with fine hips! You appear to me as a deity."
हे सुंदर मुख वाली, तुम कौन हो? मुझे तुम रुद्रों, मरुतों या वसुओं में से कोई श्रेष्ठ देवता प्रतीत होती हो।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v6
किम् नु चन्द्रमसा हीना पतिता विबुध आलयात् |
रोहिणी ज्योतिषाम् श्रेष्ठा श्रेष्ठा सर्व गुण अन्विता || ५-३३-७
"Are you Rohini, endowed with all the best qualities, fallen from heaven, left behind by moon and excellent among stars."
यह श्लोक पूछ रहा है कि क्या चंद्रमा के बिना, जो देवताओं के घर से गिर गया है, रोहिणी, जो नक्षत्रों में श्रेष्ठ और सभी गुणों से युक्त है, क्या वह भी श्रेष्ठ है?
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v7
कोपात् वा यदि वा मोहात् भर्तारम् असित ईक्षणा || ५-३३-८
वसिष्ठम् कोपयित्वा त्वम् न असि कल्याणि अरुन्धती |
"O dark-eyed lady! Are you not the auspicious Arundhati, who irritated her husband, Vasishta the sage either by anger or by error?"
हे कल्याणी अरुन्धती, तुम अपने स्वामी वसिष्ठ को क्रोधित करके या मोहवश होकर, अपनी काली आँखों से उन्हें देखकर, अब शांत नहीं हो सकतीं।

को नु पुत्रः पिता भ्रात भर्ता वा ते सुमध्यमे || ५-३३-९
अस्माल् लोकात् अमुम् लोकम् गतम् त्वम् अनुशोचसि |
"O the slender waisted lady! You seem to be lamenting over someone who died is he your son, or father or brother or husband."
हे सुमध्यमे, तुम किस पुत्र, पिता, भाई या पति के लिए इस लोक से उस लोक में गए हुए का शोक कर रही हो?
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v9
रोदनादतिनिःश्वासाद्भूमिसंस्पर्शनादपि || ५-३३-१०
न त्वाम् देवीमहम् मन्ये राज्ञः संज्ञावधारणात् |
"You are lamenting. You are sighing a lot. You are touching the earth. You have royal insignia in you. According to these things, I do not consider you as a divine woman."
हे देवी, तुम्हारे रोने, गहरी साँस लेने और भूमि को छूने से, राजा की पहचान के कारण मैं तुम्हें देवी नहीं मानता।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v10
व्यञ्जनानि हि ते यानि लक्षणानि च लक्षये || ५-३३-११
महिषी भूमि पालस्य राज कन्या असि मे मता |
"Based on the marks on your person and your bodily characteristics, I believe you to be a queen of an emperor and the daughter of a king."
हे राजकन्या, तुम राजा की पत्नी हो और मुझे तुम राजा की पुत्री के समान प्रतीत होती हो। तुम्हारे ये लक्षण और संकेत स्पष्ट रूप से दिखाई दे रहे हैं।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v11
रावणेन जन स्थानात् बलात् अपहृता यदि || ५-३३-१२
सीता त्वम् असि भद्रम् ते तन् मम आचक्ष्व पृच्छतः |
"If you are Seetha stolen per force by Ravana from Janasthana, tell it to me who is asking if you please!"
यदि रावण ने बलपूर्वक जनकपुर से सीता का हरण किया है, तो हे भद्रे, तुम वही हो क्या? मुझे बताओ, मैं तुमसे पूछता हूँ।
"I am the daughter-in-law of Dasaratha, eminent among the excellent kings on earth, who understands the nature of the spirit and who torments the army of the adversary."
मैं दशरथ की पुत्रवधू हूँ, जो शत्रु सेनाओं को परास्त करने वाले राजा थे। मैं पृथ्वी पर सिंह जैसे राजाओं में से एक, ज्ञानी राजा की बहू हूँ।

दुहिता जनकस्य अहम् वैदेहस्य महात्मनः || ५-३३-१६
सीता च नाम नाम्ना अहम् भार्या रामस्य धीमतः |
"I am the daughter of the noble-natured Janaka, the king of Videha kingdom. I am know.
मैं महात्मा जनक वैदेह की पुत्री हूँ। मेरा नाम सीता है और मैं धीमान् राम की पत्नी हूँ।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v16
समा द्वादश तत्र अहम् राघवस्य निवेशने || ५-३३-१७
भुन्जाना मानुषान् भोगान् सर्व काम समृद्धिनी |
"I stayed in Rama's house there for twelve years, enjoying the worldly pleasures belonging to human kind and fulfilling all my desires."

ततः त्रयोदशे वर्षे राज्येन इक्ष्वाकु नन्दनम् || ५-३३-१८
अभिषेचयितुम् राजा स उपाध्यायः प्रचक्रमे |
"Thereafter, in the thirteenth year, King Dasaratha along with his preceptors started to perform anointment of the kingdom to Rama, a celebrity of Ikshvaku dynasty."
तब राजा इक्ष्वाकु के पुत्र को तेरहवें वर्ष में राज्याभिषेक करने के लिए अपने गुरु के साथ तैयार हुए।

तस्मिन् सम्भ्रियमाणे तु राघवस्य अभिषेचने || ५-३३-१९
कैकेयी नाम भर्तारम् देवी वचनम् अब्रवीत् |
"While that anointment of Rama was being arranged, a queen called Kaikeyi spoke the following words to Dasaratha, her husband.
जब राम के राज्याभिषेक की तैयारी हो रही थी, तब कैकेयी नाम की रानी ने अपने पति से यह कहा।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v19
न पिबेयम् न खादेयम् प्रत्यहम् मम भोजनम् || ५-३३-२०
एष मे जीवितस्य अन्तो रामो यदि अभिषिच्यते |
"If Rama gets anointed for the kingdom, from now onwards, I shall neither drink water nor take my food daily. This is the end to my life."
मैं न तो पिऊंगा और न ही खाऊंगा, यह मेरा प्रतिदिन का भोजन है। यदि राम का राज्याभिषेक होता है, तो मेरे जीवन का यही अंत है।
"O the excellent king! If that word of pledge was uttered affectionately by you and if it is not going to be a waste, let Rama go to the forest."
हे श्रेष्ठ राजा, तुमने जो बात प्रेम से कही है, यदि वह सत्य न हो तो राम को वन में जाना पड़े।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v21
स राजा सत्य वाग् देव्या वर दानम् अनुस्मरन् || ५-३३-२२
मुमोह वचनम् श्रुत्वा कैकेय्याः क्रूरम् अप्रियम् |
"Hearing the cruel and the disagreeable words of Kaikeyi and recollecting the boon given to the queen, King Dasaratha who was true to his word, fell unconscious.
राजा कैकेयी के क्रूर और अप्रिय वचन सुनकर, देवी (कैकेयी) द्वारा दिए गए वरदानों को स्मरण करते हुए मोहग्रस्त हो गए।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v22
ततः तु स्थविरो राजा सत्य धर्मे व्यवस्थितः || ५-३३-२३
ज्येष्ठम् यशस्विनम् पुत्रम् रुदन् राज्यम् अयाचत |
"Then, the aged king, who was firmly established in truth and righteousness, regretfully asked his illustrious eldest son to give back the kingdom, which he bestowed him earlier."
तब सत्य और धर्म में स्थित उस वृद्ध राजा ने, रोते हुए, अपने सबसे बड़े और यशस्वी पुत्र से राज्य माँगा।
"That glorious Rama first admitted his father's words in mind, considering them more dearer than his anointment to the kingdom and accepted them with his word."
श्रीमान् ने पिता के वचन को अभिषेक के बाद प्रिय मानकर, मन से पहले ही स्वीकार कर लिया था और वाणी से उसका प्रतिग्रह किया।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v24
दद्यान् न प्रतिगृह्णीयान् न ब्रूयत् किंचित् अप्रियम् || ५-३३-२५
अपि जीवित हेतोः हि रामः सत्य पराक्रमः |
"The truly courageous Rama always gives anything to others and does not take anything from others. He does not speak just a little of a disagreeable word even for the cause of his life."
यह श्लोक कहता है कि सत्यनिष्ठ और पराक्रमी राम भी, अपने जीवन की रक्षा के लिए, किसी से कुछ लेना या अप्रिय वचन कहना उचित नहीं समझते थे। वे कभी भी किसी से कुछ लेते नहीं थे और न ही किसी को अप्रिय वचन कहते थे, भले ही वह उनके जीवन के लिए ही क्यों न हो।
"Leaving behind his greatly valuable outer garments and wearing garments made of bark, that highly illustrious Rama gave up his kingdom willingly and assigned me to his mother."
वह महायशस्वी राजा, अपने उत्तम वस्त्रों को त्यागकर और मन से राज्य का त्याग करके, अपनी माता को मुझे सौंप दिया।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v26
सा अहम् तस्य अग्रतः तूर्णम् प्रस्थिता वन चारिणी || ५-३३-२७
न हि मे तेन हीनाया वासः स्वर्गे अपि रोचते |
"To me bereft of him, residing even in heaven does not indeed give pleasure. I, as such, decided to proceed to the forest and soon was ready to start even ahead of Rama."
मैं, वन में घूमने वाली, उसके सामने शीघ्रता से चली गई। उसके बिना स्वर्ग में भी मेरा निवास मुझे अच्छा नहीं लगता।
"Adorned with clothes of bark, the illustrious Lakshmana, the rejoice of his friends, got ready to follow his elder brother even before (me)."
हे महाभाग, लक्ष्मण जी, जो मित्र के प्रिय पुत्र हैं, वे पहले से ही अपने बड़े भाई के पीछे चलने के लिए तैयार थे। उन्होंने वृक्ष की छालों से स्वयं को सुशोभित किया था।
Sundara Kanda – Sarga 33 · v28
ते वयम् भर्तुः आदेशम् बहु मान्य दृढ व्रताः || ५-३३-२९
प्रविष्टाः स्म पुरात् दृष्टम् वनम् गम्भीर दर्शनम् |
"Obeying respectfully the command of Lord Dasaratha, we as such with a firm resolution, entered the forest, which we have never seen before and which was deep and profound in appearance."
हम स्वामी के आदेश का बहुत सम्मान करते हुए, दृढ़ संकल्प से उस घने और गंभीर वन में प्रवेश कर चुके हैं, जिसे हमने पहले देखा था।
