वैशंपायन उवाच एतावदुक्त्वा देवर्षिर्विरराम स नारदः युधिष्ठिरस्तु राजर्षिर्दध्यौ शोकपरिप्लुतः

Vaiśampāyana said: Having spoken these words, devarṣi Nārada stopped. However, rājarṣi Yudhiṣṭhira was overcome by sorrow and continued to think.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: ये शब्द कहकर देवर्षि नारद रुक गये। हालाँकि, राजर्षि युधिष्ठिर दुःख से उबर गए और सोचते रहे।

तं दीनमनसं वीरमधोवदनमातुरम् निःश्वसन्तं यथा नागं पर्यश्रुनयनं तथा

The brave one was distressed in his mind and his head hung down in sorrow. He sighed like a serpent and his eyes were full of tears.

वीर मन में व्यथित था और उसका सिर दुख से झुक गया था। उसने साँप की तरह आह भरी और उसकी आँखें आंसुओं से भर गईं।

कुन्ती शोकपरीताङ्गी दुःखोपहतचेतना अब्रवीन्मधुराभाषा काले वचनमर्थवत्

Kuntī's limbs were also overcome with sorrow and grief had robbed her of her senses. However, she spoke these sweet and important words that were suitable to the occasion.

कुन्ती के भी अंग-प्रत्यंग दुःख से भर गये थे और दुःख ने उसकी इन्द्रियाँ भी छीन ली थीं। हालाँकि, उसने ये मधुर और महत्वपूर्ण शब्द बोले जो अवसर के अनुकूल थे।

युधिष्ठिर महाबाहो नैनं शोचितुमर्हसि जहि शोकं महाप्राज्ञ शृणु चेदं वचो मम

"O Yudhiṣṭhira! O mighty-armed one! You should not grieve. O immensely wise one! Conquer your sorrow and listen to my words.

"हे युधिष्ठिर! हे महाबाहु! तुम्हें शोक नहीं करना चाहिए। हे अत्यंत बुद्धिमान! अपने दुःख पर विजय प्राप्त करो और मेरे वचन सुनो।"

यतितः स मया पूर्वं भ्रात्र्यं ज्ञापयितुं तव भास्करेण च देवेन पित्रा धर्मभृतां वर

O supreme among those who uphold dharma! Earlier, I tried so that he might let you know that he was your brother and so did the sun god, his father.

हे धर्म का पालन करने वालों में श्रेष्ठ! पहले, मैंने कोशिश की थी कि वह आपको बता दे कि वह आपका भाई था और सूर्य देवता, उसके पिता भी थे।

यद्वाच्यं हितकामेन सुहृदा भूतिमिच्छता तथा दिवाकरेणोक्तः स्वप्नान्ते मम चाग्रतः

In front of me, the sun revealed himself in a dream to him and told him words that a well-wisher who desired his benefit and prosperity would say.

मेरे सामने, सूर्य ने स्वप्न में स्वयं को प्रकट किया और उससे वे शब्द कहे जो एक शुभचिंतक जो उसका लाभ और समृद्धि चाहता है, कहता है।

न चैनमशकद्भानुरहं वा स्नेहकारणैः पुरा प्रत्यनुनेतुं वा नेतुं वाप्येकतां त्वया

But despite our entreaties and our affection, I or the sun god did not succeed. We could not persuade him. Nor could we persuade him to unite with you.

लेकिन हमारी मिन्नतों और स्नेह के बावजूद, मैं या सूर्य देव सफल नहीं हुए। हम उसे मना नहीं सके. न ही हम उसे आपके साथ एकजुट होने के लिए मना सके.

ततः कालपरीतः स वैरस्योद्धुक्षणे रतः प्रतीपकारी युष्माकमिति चोपेक्षितो मया

He was under the subjugation of destiny and was engaged in fanning the enmity with you. He was engaged in causing you injury. So he was ignored by me."

वह नियति के वशीभूत होकर आपसे शत्रुता बढ़ाने में लगा हुआ था। वह तुम्हें चोट पहुँचाने में लगा हुआ था। इसलिए मेरे द्वारा उसे नजरअंदाज कर दिया गया।”

इत्युक्तो धर्मराजस्तु मात्रा बाष्पाकुलेक्षणः उवाच वाक्यं धर्मात्मा शोकव्याकुलचेतनः

When his mother said this, Dharmarāja's eyes filled with tears. With his senses clouded by tears, the one with dharma in his soul spoke these words.

जब उनकी माँ ने यह कहा तो धर्मराज की आँखों में आँसू भर आये। आँसुओं से घिरी हुई अपनी इंद्रियों के साथ, जिसकी आत्मा में धर्म था, उसने ये शब्द बोले।

भवत्या गूढमन्त्रत्वात्पीडितोऽस्मीत्युवाच ताम् शशाप च महातेजाः सर्वलोकेषु च स्त्रियः न गुह्यं धारयिष्यन्तीत्यतिदुःखसमन्वितः

"I am extremely distressed because you kept this a secret." Tormented by extreme grief, the immensely energetic one cursed all the women of the world, "Henceforth, they will not be able to keep a secret."

"मैं बेहद व्यथित हूं क्योंकि आपने इसे गुप्त रखा।" अत्यंत दु:ख से त्रस्त होकर, अत्यधिक ऊर्जावान ने दुनिया की सभी महिलाओं को शाप दिया, "अब से, वे कोई रहस्य नहीं रख पाएंगी।"

स राजा पुत्रपौत्राणां संबन्धिसुहृदां तथा स्मरन्नुद्विग्नहृदयो बभूवास्वस्थचेतनः

The king remembered his sons, grandsons, relatives and well-wishers and his heart became extremely anxious. He lost control over his senses.

राजा को अपने पुत्रों, पौत्रों, सम्बन्धियों तथा शुभचिन्तकों की याद आयी और उनका हृदय अत्यन्त व्याकुल हो उठा। उसने अपनी इंद्रियों पर नियंत्रण खो दिया।

ततः शोकपरीतात्मा सधूम इव पावकः निर्वेदमकरोद्धीमान्राजा संतापपीडितः

Because he was overcome by sorrow, he was like a fire with smoke. Tormented and oppressed, the king yielded to despair.

क्योंकि वह दुःख से अभिभूत हो गया था, वह धुएँ वाली आग के समान था। प्रताड़ित और उत्पीड़ित राजा निराशा में डूब गया।
