वैशंपायन उवाच इङ्गितेनैव दाशार्हस्तमभिप्रायमादितः द्रौणेर्बुद्ध्वा महाबाहुरर्जुनं प्रत्यभाषत

Vaiśampāyana said: From the signs, Dāśārha had understood what Droṇa's son intended. The mighty-armed one spoke to Arjuna.

वैशम्पायन ने कहा: संकेतों से, दशार्ह को समझ आ गया था कि द्रोण के पुत्र का इरादा क्या था। महाबाहु अर्जुन से बोले।

अर्जुनार्जुन यद्दिव्यमस्त्रं ते हृदि वर्तते द्रोणोपदिष्टं तस्यायं कालः संप्रति पाण्डव

"O Arjuna! O Pāṇḍava! O Arjuna! In your mind, you have the knowledge of the divine weapon that was instructed to you by Droṇa. The time to use it has arrived.

"हे अर्जुन! हे पांडव! हे अर्जुन! तुम्हारे मन में उस दिव्य हथियार का ज्ञान है जो द्रोण ने तुम्हें सिखाया था। इसका उपयोग करने का समय आ गया है।

भ्रातॄणामात्मनश्चैव परित्राणाय भारत विसृजैतत्त्वमप्याजावस्त्रमस्त्रनिवारणम्

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! It is needed to save yourself and your brothers. You should release it, since it is capable of countering all weapons."

हे भरत वंश के वंशज! यह आपको और आपके भाइयों को बचाने के लिए जरूरी है।' आपको इसे छोड़ देना चाहिए, क्योंकि यह सभी हथियारों का मुकाबला करने में सक्षम है।"

केशवेनैवमुक्तस्तु पाण्डवः परवीरहा अवातरद्रथात्तूर्णं प्रगृह्य सशरं धनुः

Having been thus addressed by Keśava, Pāṇḍava, the destroyer of enemy heroes, swiftly descended from the chariot and grasped his bow and an arrow.

केशव द्वारा इस प्रकार सम्बोधित किये जाने पर शत्रु वीरों का संहार करने वाले पाण्डव तेजी से रथ से उतरे और अपना धनुष तथा बाण उठा लिया।

पूर्वमाचार्यपुत्राय ततोऽनन्तरमात्मने भ्रातृभ्यश्चैव सर्वेभ्यः स्वस्तीत्युक्त्वा परंतपः

The scorcher of enemies spoke words of welfare, addressed to his preceptor's son, then to himself and all his brothers.

शत्रुओं को भस्म करने वाले ने अपने गुरु के पुत्र को, फिर स्वयं को और अपने सभी भाइयों को संबोधित करते हुए कल्याण के शब्द कहे।

देवताभ्यो नमस्कृत्य गुरुभ्यश्चैव सर्वशः उत्ससर्ज शिवं ध्यायन्नस्त्रमस्त्रेण शाम्यताम्

He bowed to the gods and all his preceptors. Meditating and pronouncing auspicious words, he released that weapon, so as to pacify the other weapon.

उन्होंने देवताओं और अपने सभी गुरुओं को प्रणाम किया। ध्यान करके तथा शुभ वचनों का उच्चारण करके उसने दूसरे अस्त्र को शान्त करने के लिये उस अस्त्र को छोड़ दिया।

ततस्तदस्त्रं सहसा सृष्टं गाण्डीवधन्वना प्रजज्वाल महार्चिष्मद्युगान्तानलसंनिभम्

That weapon was violently released by the wielder of Gāṇḍīva. It blazed with great flames, like the fire that arises at the end of a yuga.

वह हथियार गाण्डीव धारक द्वारा हिंसक तरीके से छोड़ा गया था। वह युग के अंत में उत्पन्न होने वाली अग्नि के समान प्रचंड ज्वालाओं से प्रज्वलित हो उठा।

तथैव द्रोणपुत्रस्य तदस्त्रं तिग्मतेजसः प्रजज्वाल महाज्वालं तेजोमण्डलसंवृतम्

In a similar way, the weapon released by Droṇa's son was fierce in its energy. It blazed in great flames, surrounded by a disc of energy.

इसी प्रकार, द्रोण के पुत्र द्वारा छोड़ा गया हथियार अपनी ऊर्जा में भयंकर था। यह ऊर्जा की एक डिस्क से घिरी हुई बड़ी लपटों में धधक रहा था।

निर्घाता बहवश्चासन्पेतुरुल्काः सहस्रशः महद्भयं च भूतानां सर्वेषां समजायत

There were many peals of thunder and thousands of meteors fell down. A great fear was generated in all the beings.

बहुत गड़गड़ाहट हुई और हजारों उल्काएँ गिरीं। समस्त प्राणियों में महान् भय उत्पन्न हो गया।

सशब्दमभवद्व्योम ज्वालामालाकुलं भृशम् चचाल च मही कृत्स्ना सपर्वतवनद्रुमा

The firmament was enveloped in that great noise and seemed to be covered in a terrible garland of fire. The entire earth, with its mountains, forests and trees, trembled.

आकाशमण्डल उस महान ध्वनि से आच्छादित हो गया था और ऐसा प्रतीत हो रहा था जैसे वह अग्नि की भयानक माला से आच्छादित हो। पर्वतों, वनों और वृक्षों सहित सारी पृथ्वी कांप उठी।

ते अस्त्रे तेजसा लोकांस्तापयन्ती व्यवस्थिते महर्षी सहितौ तत्र दर्शयामासतुस्तदा

That weapon was stationed there, scorching the worlds with its energy. The two maharṣi-s showed themselves then.

वह अस्त्र वहाँ खड़ा था और अपनी शक्ति से समस्त लोकों को झुलसा रहा था। तब दो महर्षियों ने स्वयं को प्रकट किया।

नारदः स च धर्मात्मा भरतानां पितामहः उभौ शमयितुं वीरौ भारद्वाजधनंजयौ

Nārada, with dharma in his soul, and the grandfather of the Bhārata-s. They sought to pacify the two brave ones, Bhāradvāja's descendant and Dhanañjayā.

नारद, अपनी आत्मा में धर्म के साथ, और भरत-एस के पितामह। उन्होंने दो बहादुरों, भारद्वाज के वंशज और धनंजय को शांत करने की कोशिश की।

तौ मुनी सर्वधर्मज्ञौ सर्वभूतहितैषिणौ दीप्तयोरस्त्रयोर्मध्ये स्थितौ परमतेजसौ

Those two sages were learned in all forms of dharma and had the welfare of all beings in mind. Those two supremely energetic ones stationed themselves between those two flaming weapons.

वे दोनों ऋषि सभी प्रकार के धर्मों में पारंगत थे और सभी प्राणियों के कल्याण का ध्यान रखते थे। वे दोनों परम ऊर्जावान उन दो ज्वलन्त अस्त्रों के मध्य स्थित हो गये।

तदन्तरमनाधृष्यावुपगम्य यशस्विनौ आस्तामृषिवरौ तत्र ज्वलिताविव पावकौ

Those two illustrious and supreme riṣi-s were incapable of being assailed by anything and were like two blazing fires themselves.

वे दो प्रतिष्ठित और सर्वोच्च ऋषि-मुनि किसी भी चीज़ से हमला करने में असमर्थ थे और स्वयं दो धधकती हुई आग के समान थे।

प्राणभृद्भिरनाधृष्यौ देवदानवसंमतौ अस्त्रतेजः शमयितुं लोकानां हितकाम्यया

They could not be touched by any living being and they were revered by the gods and the dānava-s. For the sake of the welfare of the worlds, they pacified the energies of the weapons.

उन्हें किसी भी जीवित प्राणी द्वारा छुआ नहीं जा सकता था और वे देवताओं और दानवों द्वारा पूजनीय थे। संसार के कल्याण के लिए, उन्होंने हथियारों की ऊर्जा को शांत किया।

ऋषी ऊचतुः नानाशस्त्रविदः पूर्वे येऽप्यतीता महारथाः नैतदस्त्रं मनुष्येषु तैः प्रयुक्तं कथंचन

The two riṣi-s said, "The mahāratha-s who have fallen down earlier were knowledgeable about many weapons. These weapons should never be used against humans. Why have you invoked them?"

दोनों ऋषियों ने कहा, "जो महारथी पहले गिरे थे, वे कई हथियारों के जानकार थे। इन हथियारों का इस्तेमाल कभी भी मनुष्यों के खिलाफ नहीं किया जाना चाहिए। आपने उनका इस्तेमाल क्यों किया है?"
